I like how everyone is complaining about the tempo when in reality this is how fast this piece is played. Their band teachers probably slowed the tempo for their level.
Lol my class is like this our teacher says not to do it probably because if we do it during a concert you'll hear TAP TAP TAP TAP so we count our rest and look at him conduct to see when he cues us
Not only are they an adult band, but everyone except beginning band students doesn't tap their foot because they know how to keep tempo. You're clearly under the age of 12.
This was the best song I've played and I am in the year 3 highest level band in my second year but this song was easy and I loved playing high. I write covers for myself to play for solos and some go up to the high E way above the staff.
What did I miss? Its been more than 20 years since I played this in concert but not once did I hear the trills from the flute section right before the stacotto. :(

I just played this for the 6th grade winter concert and this is about as fast as we played it. Learned that I needed to line up with the melody way too late. Luckily, the percussion made up for the bad job that the clarinets were doing. By the way, If you are a clarinet player bear through the pain it’s rewarding at the end.

I hate when our teachers give us 10 pieces of music before concert time and we learn and prefect them all and then we have to pick three to play... a lot of people are picking this song and we are so good at it.... my band loves this song, Atlantis, and Quin Shi Army which is really fun to play 😂😂 (I’m a trumpet)

If you compare this to any electronic arrangement of the same song, it becomes clear the tempo is too fast. They did slow down to the correct temp in the middle, but then sped up again once they got though that section.
I swear if my band played this piece in a concert we'd all be sweating like pigs since for most of us we are the only instrument and if we screw up everybody will know and start pointing fingers, to make things worse I'm a tuba player this year and I've never played tuba before
My grade 7 school band has to play this and we sound NOTHING like this. We sound like a mixture of instruments that have its own mind and the instruments are playing randomly

Hahaha! Not my ISD 1st years had to do this song at 6th grade and we buchered the song BADLY we went at tempo
