Iconic Fernandez Tej50, with gold hardware ( rare and worth at least 450 $). Typical of the eighties: pointy Jackson headstock, superstrat specs combined with Tele body: screams Mick Mars of Motley Crue. Excellent restoration work as usual! 👍
Hello Friend, Fernandes guitars is quite a good brand, this one has some interesting features and sounds very well. Of course, the restoration is indeed fabulous ! See you soon...
I love your content, but I agree that this was not done properly. The finish around the binding was done poorly. These needed to be masked differently and then scraped. The finish overall is wavy, dull, and full of imperfections. Your spraying technique looks and feels lazy, and you could have done a much better job to fill and prep the body. The frets are badly worn and need more than just a polish. Optionally, you could have filled and refinished the back of the neck so the gouges wouldn't affect the playability. I normally love your content and I subscribe to your channel because I enjoy your videos. I think you have done a great job on other instruments, but this one needed to be done better. Please don't take this too hard or personally. Take your time to do a better job on future ones. You're talented, knowledgeable, and patient. I know you're capable of great things. :)
Whoa, was that something resembling a classic 80's pedal point riff at the end there?! One of the more straightforward restorations you've done and as always it looked really good at the end!
Are you the one playing on the end part of your videos.. I like the guitar transformation along with the jam sessions.. keep it up! Watching as always from the Philippines.
Even though I can imagine what it must be like to be in Your position right now as I know patience can really be tough to master, but take Your time with these kinds of things and get to as much detail as possible! Other than some things, this was an okay restoration! 👍
StewMac has a different approach for black gloss finish with dents. He used black resin to fill those holes , scrap it with a razer blade with tapes on the side for it not to reach the top finish, wet sanded it and then buff it like new.
This is not up to your usual standards. The work was hurried and indifferent. No flat-sanding on the body, so the paint looks uneven. The deep gouges in the frets were ignored. You are normally much more thorough about cleaning corrosion from pickup poles.
I believe a few additional steps would have produced a much glossier final finish: After sanding the wood, filling dents, sanding and wood sealer. spray a coat or 2 of automotive primer followed by level sanding to hide small irregularities in the surface. THEN spray black paint and sand the final paint coat with very fine grit sandpaper. Then polish.
Binding on the top looks awful. Masking the edge of the binding on the top is not the right way to do it, which is why it is so sloppy here. Better technique is to mask the binding on the sides, spray color coat on the top. SCRAPE the paint off the binding edge with a razor blade (Really really), then spray clear coats. Read up on binding scraping.
with the razor you can clean the binding,, the keys and all the metals are needed, anti-oxidizing anti-rust,,, in general the condition of the guitars was very bad.
I have two of these, a TEJ-55G and a TEJ-75 both imported from Japan. Strange that the tremolo mount screws are wood screws and not bushings and bolts.
Wow, incredible how some people treat their instruments. It's one thing to relic a guitar but take chunks out of it? Great job restoring it... but the intonation can definitely use some work, still quite a few chunks missing out of it 😅
Got a sneaking suspicion this guy is the one doing the damage so he can "restore" them. Seems to be a lot of duplicate issues in these guitars he finds...
@@ddbrock9675 I thought the exact same thing about one or two guitars which were restored in other vids... especially because they were so messed up but the stickers came off easily, and now that I think of it, there were gouges as well. This guy's either a magnet for the worst looking and treated guitars on the planet or he's un-pimping them in order to re-pimp them for channel content. You're probably right 👍

It seems a bit ridiculous that on one hand you have people paying through the nose for guitars faked to look worn at the factory, and on the other people taking genuine old and worn-looking instruments and restoring them to look brand-new. Surely there must be some way for them to meet somewhere in the middle?

What a great job in this guitar, congrats!!!!
The work done on the guitar is great. I only wish that the 'music' being 'played' on it was of the same standard.

Very nice…as usual
Should have done a thick high gloss finish.

It's a good work, although I expected a better result. The guitar was glossy originally, right?

Aren't Fernandes really expensive? Why/how could anyone let a guitar, especially if it expensive, be that abused!?!
the headstock reveal made me sad, pointy headstock on a tele 😭
I just got the single pickup version from the auctions lol

👍💯👏
The damage on this guitar looks very uniform
At very least, new screws etc. would have been good idea.
Dumb question - you’re restoring a lot of 70s guitars with tremolo arms, but you use slide technique when you’re testing the beast. Why?

It's just a question of aesthetic preferences really. No reason not to have both looks as long as the instrument is playable
Nice guitar, except for the stabby headstock with the usual awful string-spread over the nut. Good job on the restore. You are very patient.
You Are a Wizard...
You need to read up on how to do a basic setup. The intonation is way off.
Those frets are awfully worn
