- As I said earlier, stainless jumbo frets are very popular here. Of course, it's not necessary to remove the nibs for such refrets. Someday I'll show you a video of refret with nibs saving or reconstruction. But not today 🙃
Also we launch YT sponsorship, and already have educational content about fretworks.
Detailed description of video, tools and agents used will be a bit later on my Patreon.

Thank you for great feedback! Also want to inform you about YT scam. Scammers pretend to be me, tell you that you win something (or other nonsense) and you need to talk outside the platform.
If you see messages like this - report and block 😉
Hello. I hope you see this message. I see you were slotting an unslotted bridge. I recently purchased one and the company I bought it from said there are plenty of UA-cam videos out there showing what to do with this. There isn’t from what I found. One of the videos showed them pounding a string to create the slot. Do you recommend us or just filing the groove?
I wish I could report the scammers. I get the same message every time I watch one of your videos. It's always someone who goes under your name on telegram. It's in the notifications, but that only gives me the option to "mute" that person. No option to report them, or block them. YT is such a joke sometimes.
yes I had this with Gabriela Quevedo! I'm crazy I paid and I went to the airport message telling me chat on telegram lol Africans group men escros crooks who are making fun of you!!!!! always ask for the cam to see if it's really the person talking to you :) now you know it's bullshit!!! and the artist gabriela or others are now free of guilt :)
@@AQMusic10 Google "slotting guitar saddle" and check out what StewMac has to say about this or go to a Luthier and ask them to do it for you.
How hard or easy is it to replace the frets and save the nibs and use stainless steel frets? Thank you for all your video's. I enjoy and appreciate them!!!
No flashy intros or rock music while talking all the time. Pure craftsmanship, great video!
10:34 The trademark sneeze! it's fast becoming a tradition. Great job as always!
Yes, it's so adorable 🥰
i love your work you do, you dont just fix it and move on to the next, you put your heart and soul in to making sure its done correct and you care about the instrument you are working on. so thank you for sharing your craft with us.
Thank you so much!
Tanya, thank you for the love you showed this old Gibson
I would really like to refret my first guitar, and all these refretting videos are giving me undeserved confidence in thinking I can do it myself, lol.
Love you're work! Can't wait for the next video.
As tempting(easy) as it may seem, I wouldn't venture bro!
If you really wanna try, do it on some cheap guitars that are already in a bad shape!
Grab a cheap guitar and giver it a go!! I did my first refret a while back, I even re-radiused the fingerboard... it was a cheap Glarry Strat that I made into a reverse pattern Rory Gallagher Strat... I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I done a video on my channel and would love to know what you think?
Just take your time with it if you do. I mean worst case scenario you REALLY chew up the board and have to take it to a professional anyway 😂 But seriously just do a good deal of research too..
It just takes time. It's doable with today's tools. I even went stainless. The difference is professionals would take maybe less 8 hours, I took over 1 day lol. I had to be careful.
Great craftsmanship and attention to detail. You treat the guitar with respect.
Except she removed the fret nibs
It is a pleasure to be able to watch the restoration of a musical instrument performed by an international professional like Tanya. Greetings from Brazil
Porra, onde a gente vai nessa internet tem um misera de um BR falando.
We can feel the love you put into each piece you work on. Simply mesmerizing.
Tanya, I recently discovered your channel and it's been a real pleasure watching you work with such professionalism, keep up the good work, you are really amazing.
Thank you so much!
You just made a cold day much warmer and brighter. You are awesome! And I know why you solder the frets.
Thank you!🫶
I may be an exception, I don't know, but to me the whole refretting process is way more satisfying than cutting the nibs, and especially more when it is done with passion and soul. More refret content please ! (even though I understand you don't really choose what the client brings you to work on)
Very thorough and detailed, I hope you always stay healthy. greetings from Indonesia
I once had a Les Paul with a “bowling ball” finish called Brunswick Blue, a beautiful dark blue with golden flecks in the finish. As I watched you work the thought of that finish on your fingernails just popped into my head.
This woman is an artist in her own right 👍
You are very talented and it's always a pleasure watching your videos.
Thank you)
Great job Tanya. I like the choice of jumbo frets on that LP. The nut seemed to have problems - so you took care of fitting a new one. Cheers
Don't know why but it's always a pleasure look and listen to your work.
I found it relaxing and somehow it gaves me a bit of satisfaction when the final result comes out.
Thank you!
It may have taken me best part of a week to finally get to watch this but as always worth it!
Amazing how much difference no nibs makes to the look (for the better too in my opinion) and nice to see someone else top-wrapping the bridge :) its the future i tell thee ;)
Great work as ever lass
On a side question what file are you using for crowning? Im currently doing the job with foam/rubber home made tool and sand paper, when i say it takes a while im being kind.
Yesss! The fret work is always my favorite part. I could watch you solder & pull frets for hours. And when it's a grungy fretboard that needs a good sanding? Helloooo
I absolutely love your videos. Puts me in a zen place.
Perfect! That was great work. Almost like a luthier ASMR video, so relaxing. Thank you
As always, you do beautiful work Tanya! Slava Ukraini from the USA❤️!
Cringe
Great video! It was almost therapeutic to watch your skill and technique. Thank you!
Always learn something from watching your videos. Thank you.
You do such beautiful work Tanya. It’s a pleasure to watch and learn from your videos.
Hi! Thank you for the great videos and great work you do! What's that liquid in cotton just before you are removing CA glue with the chisel? (acetone?)
It pained me to see what looked like perfectly good frets with the nice traditional nibs removed. However, that thing has to be playing like a dream now.
Thank you. I have a tribute SG with the nibs and have long wanted to remove them and refret it. But I worried the nibs were hollow and would leave holes in the binding that new fret ends wouldn't cover. You make it look so easy!
This is so satisfying and frustrating to watch! Why didn’t I start doing this as a younger man!? Amazing skill ❤ from Los Angeles
You truly are a gifted young woman I enjoy watching all your videos I hope happy ness shines on you brightly.
Im super stoked to see that youve wrapped he strings around the stopbar.. far far far more comfortable to play, Im surprised that this is not the default way
I was frustrated to see the top-wrapped stop bar. That is just wrong.
Better to string as usual, the raise the stop tailpiece til you get the tension you want. That way you can keep the angle the strings go over the bridge at at high as possible. A lot of bridges are not high enough to keep the angle with a wrap over. I have done it that way for 40 years on all my bridge/stop tailpiece guitars.
Very very good work. You are a very skilled worker and know your craft.
Hi Tanya
I have been watching a few of your videos and being a jack of all trades and master of none (lol) i have amazed at the low tech
repaires you do. I have a 1965 Jazznaster which I bought in 1966. I'm pass 70 now but I was wondering about what you use in the polishing wheel and the final grit of the sanding for the guitar finish. I need to remove some surface imperfections on my last attempt to spray a new finish on the guitar
Keep up the great videos
its really fun to watch someone else do things pretty much the same way as I do, the difference is that you make great high quality videos, and I almost never have time to film videos of my guitar repairs...I will try to make videos more often now as soon as i get some interesting guitar that is worth making repair video about.. I will consider to buy something from your store to support you.. thanks.
Thank you so much!
every time i see you replace frets it's magic.
Very good work. You are talented. These videos helped me do my first re fret. Greetings from Nashville.
Great work!
Where did you learn?
BEAUTIFUL Fretends! :) I personally don't like the ball-like ends and such beautiful more traditional fret-ends I don't see as much today. Thank you for sharing.
I have a Heritage H150 from 1989 and I had to go look at that binding to see if it had those nibs and it does. I like the cleaner look of binding over fret ends. I will look up your other video you say there is on that subject. Thanks you, I believe you are a wonderful luthier and person.
but its not the proper way to do it the frets need to be under cut gibson went cheap when they did that it looked mediocre at best and they broke off pretty easy
@@helenabasquette7222 I was more of a piano player than guitar player when i got the heritage 31 years ago. A knowledgable friend said, I would take that over a Gibson any day. My new comment would be "Gibson cut corners? Hard to believe! (sarcasm).
Your work is amazing, i watch a lot of your videos. Hugs from Argentina.
Thank you 🙏🏻
@@TanyaShpachuk you welcome. 🙂👍🏻
I find myself really looking forward to your videos.. I think I'm becoming addicted!
Hi Tanya, I just thought I would say that you are so extremely talented and young. I am Canadian and a guitar player. Absolutely love your videos. There's another luthier from Belarus called 8 bomb, Dr. Nitro. That guy does some incredible work too.
Howdy Tanya nice looking Les-paul! Love watching the magic you do to any instruments. Take care 🎉
Great job you do on those instruments. You can actually see your experience, when you handle those jobs! Your Beautiful Tanya keep smiling 👍😊🙏
What are you rubbing on the CA glue before you remove it with the small chisel?
I'm wondering this too. Possibly acetone to soften the glue?
Love your attention to detail! Just a comment: "Blue Painter's tape" is better than the "beige" masking tape. The Blue tape leaves no residual "gunk" on the body. I have used regular "masking tape" and it left a residual "stickiness" on the body.
Other than that-Fantastic video!! Fantastic skills!!
Your nails are BEAUTIFUL!! :)) Subscribed!!!
Very nice work! And I like the new nails too. 😊
always a good day when you drop a new video :)
Very satisfying seeing such craftsmanship! Oh, and gazuntite!
Thank you ☺️
You're a talented lady! Love your vids. What type of solution are you using to finish/clean the fret board at the end? Thank you in advance. God bless.
Excellent video, thanks Tanya. And I love your nails!
Excellent work as always
I love your videos. You are super talented luthie/tech. Keep them coming!
Thank you!
Really high quality work. I'd prefer to keep the nibs, that's just myself.
I see a lot of people requesting to remove the nibs, because the thinner E starts getting stuck as the nibs wear with time.
I am curious - If you check with the fret rocker as you install frets, and all seem ok - how necessary is the fret leveling process afterwards? How often do you find high/low frets that the rocker did not catch? Thanks!
Great looking flame top. Also I like the meticulous work
Beautiful work. A big heello from Brazil, Tanya and team
1:57 That woodblock was very smart ! Nobody else is doing this ! BRAVO .
Yes! Very cool safeguard. Love it!
Yes, because you should not do that at all. It's terrible technique and a poor practice. Remove nuts side to side.
@@richsackett3423 There's nothing wrong with breaking the glue seal with very light taps. Lots of luthiers do that. The added support of the block is good insurance to make sure that your taps are safe enough. From there, I agree with you about tapping the nut sideways being the safest, but the original poster was commenting on the safeguard.
@@ronmorey3475 There is nothing safe about tapping that direction. A blade is used to score next along the nut. It's a pointless risk and poor technique as I said. I actually do this work myself, not just watch someone doing it on TV.
@@richsackett3423 I doubt that you do this work. Aren't you the same one who said there's no need to heat the frets that you can just pull them up by the ends "...like a claw hammer" with absolutely no tearout? 😂 Ok genius.
Nice work. Am i correct that you replaced the Tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece? Why was it replaced and for what type or brand?
Also, when you file the bridge, aren’t you afraid of filings sticking to the pick-up magnets?
Hi Tanya, I love your videos! What do you use to clean the excess glue away that is on the fretboard besides a chisel? Is it acetone? Thanks!
Great job! What if the neck has a nitro finish? Do you still put super glue on it and chisel it away or use wax?
I always watch this channel, even though I haven't subscribed 😄, I like guitar and like what this creator does, warm greetings from Indonesia
Is it possible to keep the nibs? If so it would be laborious, i would say. I honestly love the fretnibs on my Gibsons ;) Great work and nice to watch 👍
Beautiful work. When I do refrets, instead of using thin super glue on the sides of the frets, I use medium or thick super glue in the fret slot. That way it almost never gets on the fretboard and I avoid having to use a chisel to clean it up. Excellent work though!
A guitar with red frets would look amazing!!!
That fretboard was ddrryyyy. Good job.❤
@10:40 God Bless You.
Your videos are awesome. You have such attention to detail, when repairing guitars.
Thank you.
Stay Safe!!
Sorry for the odd question, but what are the raised things glued to your fingernails?
They appear to be little sculptures of tadpoles, frogspawn, or maybe baby water snakes.
Amazing work!
Hi, I really enjoy your videos
In the case of a single action trussroad, before sending the neck, is it better to unscrew completely the trussrod or we need to adjust as the more straight it can be?
Thanks a lot
I’ve only just discovered this channel. Excellent uploads. Thank you. Subbed!
Hello masterwork as usuel. I wondered how is the little white piece at the end (the nut) is made of?
Nice work. I don't know if the owner of this guitar wanted to increase the string spacing or not. It's interesting that the Les Paul Tribute, a low end model without neck binding has a wider spacing than the models with binding.
Yay!! Edit: When you said bye bye to the fret nibs, I felt a great disturbance in the force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
Same. I thought I was going to have to slam the door on the way out. Whew!
Розумничка, вмілі та золоті ручки! Хай щастить!
Hi Tanya, why did you re-fret this guitar? The frets looked perfectly fine, and even if they had some marks a fret dress would easily solve that because the frets were high enough for a Fret dress. Any particular reason why it was re-freted?
Татьяна, вы используете ацетон для снятия остатков клея после проклейки ладов? или что-то другое?
Nice work. Dobra robota :) What make are these frets? looking pretty huge. There was a supplier of good quality fret wire in Belarus, SINTOMS.
Love watching you Tanya, you're such a talented young lady. Take care Brian
That string locking technique in the beginning of the video... I can feel her pain
🫠
Yeah first string break on stage or even during rehearsal and the owner will rethink doing these sailor's knots.
@@gryzew This may give a hint on the owners job... works on a sailing ship, obviously, used to tighten ropes with knots... 🤔
Hey tanya!! I have been watching your videos for a while now :) great job! I want to try and replace frets on one of my guitars and you inspired me to try to do this myself! Can i ask you what type of glue you are using? Thank you
Hello! I want to know what you use to remove glue? What is this liquid? Alcohol or solvent?
Another amazing video! @5:55, is that old glue residue or slightly deepening the slots?
I was surprised to see the bridge go on with the intonation screws facing away from the neck, every Les Paul I have ever seen has them facing the neck so they aren't obstructed by the strings breaking over the saddles.
It’s fitted correctly. It’s a Nashville bridge, the intonation screws face away from the neck. The ABR-1 has the screws facing the neck.
That’s how they came out the factory.
Why doesn't the CA glue soak in too far and stain the fretboard? Is it becasue of residual oil in the surface of wood?
Hello everything is fine?
What glue do you apply to the frets and what product do you use to clean excess glue from the frets?
Once again such a Great job Tanya.
I'd like to know how to avoid the losing of fret binding which is a characteristic of Tradistional and Standard version.
Amazing work and attention to detail!!!
I greatly enjoy your excellent work and your videos. Thank you for sharing your skill.
И снова великолепная работа проделана Татьяна,дам совет для более эффективного размягчения и чистки от клея под ладом используйте (этилоцетат)👍
I wish you were closer. I'd get you to refret my 2023 LP Classic. I just had it refretted with jumbo SS frets and the guy didn't do a good job. Took it back for him to correct it and it's not much better. The frets are not as big as I specified, either. Now I'm going to take it to my old luthier in Atlanta to do it again (he did my other 4 LP's). But I live in another state now, and it will be a 6 hour drive both ways.
Great channel Tanya, and you showcase great skill. I do have to ask, is it a guitar repair VLOG site or a nail salon?
What do you do after glueing yhe frets? Is that acetone, before using the chisel to remove the excess glue? Thank you!
That is some good quality work right there
Great job as always. Love to watch your videos.
Excellent work young lady! If you were here in The USA I would take my 2 Les Pauls to you!
Excellent work as usual, Miss Tanya, and I was wondering why you replaced the bridge and tailpiece? (At least that's what it looked like, to me)
You inspired me! Awesome work ❤
