For next time a weighted impact socket makes quick work of those crank bolts! Definitely harder to work on than the old N/A 4cyls. Nice trick to jb weld the relief cuts where the old head gasket failed. Nice video 👍
Please research upgrade the headstuds! They are a weakpoint of the engine and nearly that cause of all headgasket issues. Overtime the high boost these engines run at wear out the headstuds and the head separates from the block. There is a ton of pressure running in these tiny engines. There are some really good aftermarket headstud options.
Been waiting for a new video on the civic. Im assuming youre replacing the chain and all that since youre in there? Whats the point of those slits anyway?
I think the theory is that those slits allow the head gasket to fail so you take it back to Honda for $$$$$ repairs. I don't get it. Ecoboost has the slits as well and they fail even sooner but Ford has gone about changing it though and Honda has done nothing.

I had a 1400 ft lb dewalt gun on it with impact socket would not touch it… heat was the only way
I actually thought about jb welding those slits just for shits and giggles on mine once my gasket blows lol

That head gasket blew way before 410,000 KMs. You had a blown spot in between each cylinder. That didn’t happen all at once.

Just a gasket not putting a bunch of money into motor with over 400k
The slits ensure motor won’t last too long befor head gasket failure keeps Honda in business
Makes sense. Im still planning on buying a low mileage motor and building it up on a stand. Arp head studs, stronger everything. @@BurninGas8.1
