During Marine week of USMC boot camp you're allowed to go the PX and get items like a watch. Which for 11 weeks you had no idea of what time it was unless you were on fire watch. The drill instructors recommend we get a watch and suggested a G-Shock. I kept that watch through 3 deployments to Afghan and it always worked perfectly. It was stolen out of my car 6 years later right off base. I miss that watch but it lasted FOREVER. But you can always buy a new one but still. Great job on the video Teddy and team!
I bought this watch in October of 2023 and have been wearing it every work day since. If you work blue collar, I recommend this watch all the way. I work for maintenance and construction for a water company so in the short months that I’ve had this watch, I’ve made sure to put it through hell. Water, concrete, sewer, swinging hammers constant vibration and impacts that come with working with your hands aren’t enough to kill this watch. Also, while some may find the buttons hard operate, the fact that they are recessed help with the accidental pushing of them while working in awkward angles. Robust. No nonsense. I highly recommend
Absolutely! I'm a truck driver, and I have used mine for years in some of the harshest and most uncomfortable work environments. It has traveled all over the country with me, and never complained once!
I'm wearing mine as I watch the video. This is the quintessential G Shock, a must for every collector. As much as I love my Rolex, my 5610 is the only watch I really need. It does everything perfectly. Indestructible, super comfortable to wear, classic G Shock square appearance, very legible, world time, more features than I could ever use and it looks good on almost any wrist.
@@eric2892 yeah I just got my Pro Trek to service and only 3 days I got message for price of repair, and then I got a new one lower in the next day. They cleaned my watch, changed the seal, battery, check the solar panel and change all screws. All of these within 7 days.
This is my only watch, and I absolutely love it. It's on my wrist all day, every day, and has never once let me down. It's been smashed into walls, dropped off a balcony, put through the washing machine, brought skiing, hit by paintballs, been left in a muddy puddle for a day, and been to the bottom of the harbour, and all I need to do in return is set it twice a year. I'm planning on buying myself a decent dive watch for my 17th (to actually bring diving - unheard of, I know), but I'll never sell the G-Shock. I wouldn't trust anything else on my wrist on a hike or camp.
I've had a 5610 for several years. I wear it for all yard work, mechanic work, carpentry,,,anything rough duty...it still looks exactly like new - not even a scratch. For what it is designed for, it is perfect.
I HAD one of the DW5000s when I was in the Navy! I got it when they first came out. No matter how much abuse I dished out to that watch, it laughed at me and came back for more! I've been a fan since 1983, when they came out.
One of the greatest watches ever crafted no doubt. Performs perfectly in almost any environment, is comfortable to wear, and the timeless look will never go out of style. Anybody who loves watches owes it to themselves to have one of these in the collection. Honestly, probably the best 150$ i've ever spent value wise thus far in life
As a watch nerd AND a radio nerd, the GWM5610 is one of my favorites. It just blows my mind that I consistently pick up a signal over 500 miles away on a device powered by a hidden solar panel that fits on my wrist.
@@ChefCIntencity the name of the station is WWVB, just like your local radio station may be named something like KMGL. The Wikipedia article on WWVB is pretty good. But you don’t really need to know much about the signal to operate the watch.
I own one. Have for over a year. 100% endorse this entire video. This watch is my go-to beater. It’s on my wrist almost any given weekend when I’m doing work around the house, and is the watch I set all my mechanical watches to.
Got this model for Christmas and absolutely love it. I coach football (soccer), cycle and play cricket. This watch meets the demands of all of that and looks good. After years of Garmin watches I got fed up with the almost daily charging. With this and, hopefully, a Seiko 5 I’m sorted for every occasion and no charging.
The 5610 is simply the best value for money g shock out there. One feature that often gets missed is the wrist flick light function, which is very handy in the dark.
As a pure timepiece, the 5610 is in a class by itself. Assuming that you can receive the radio signal, short of having an atomic clock on your wrist, you can't have a more accurate timekeeper.
@@ajx9698 actually 5610u is more accurate than a smart watch.. if you log on to a website that shows time with absolute accuracy and compares it to your phone, or device you'll see that your device is usually off from anything between 0.100 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
if you can't receive a radio signal - there is a work around via using an app on an android phone. I have recently found it and have used on my analog gshock radio watch..
Pro Tip: quick way to tell if you have the old version or the new "U" version is the text on the front. Old one will say "EL Back Light", new one just says "Light" like in this video.
This is my daily watch. I've worn some form of G-Shock Square most of the time since 1991 and I'll never be without one. The 5610 has the perfect combination of durability, style, and light weight for me.
Wearing my Gshock square while watching this vid. The OG GW-5000-1JF. It’s the watch that I use to set my mechanical watches because of the MB6 feature. it’s a watch that I instantly gravitate towards in my collection when I want a no nonsense watch to wear. It’s just like a Toyota. It just works.
When you can choose only one! Worried about scratches on the crystal, buy a fitted screen protector film like one does with a phone. Did the Bezel /outer case get damaged? Don't worry. Remove a couple of screws and replace it for a few dollars. Same with the strap. You can go from a completely beat up old watch to a new one in la few m minutes. Dive with it, drive over it with a car or truck, put it into a homemade mud pie, it judt doesn't matter. Oh I almost forgot.. it keeps perfect time too!
This exact model is the g-shock in my collection. Never have to worry about the battery or setting the time, in fact this is the watch I set any other watch to when I put them on in the morning. I think it can't be overstated that while the case shape does look strange and a little off putting in pictures or in the watch box, there are few things that beat it for feel and look when it's actually on wrist. Also a great feature I've heard no video mention, while i eagerly await my back ordered Christopher Ward Bel Canto, my g-shock and casio world timer both chime on the hour for me and will be doing so along with that Bel Canto when it arrives.
Oh the bell canto! Nice! Give me an update if you like it. I adore the idea of it. A bit out of my price range, but I really like the idea of an "singing"❤ mechanical watch.
The gw5000u is my favorite watch! I'm a bartender so I don't worry at all because it can handle the beating flawlessly. The rubber is better than the regular rubber on entry-level shock
I bought this watch specifically for when I climb. It’s reasonably small for a G and tough as the rest of them. The trouble is, it’s quickly become one of my favs and I wear it everywhere now
I just bought one last week, I'm wearing it right now ! Really happy with it: so cheap but still fun, comfortable and a classic. It's nothing like a nice automatic watch, but at a couple % of the cost it's such good value.
Spot on the size issue.. It wears like a 40!! Don't let the size scare you away... I have had mine for about 5 years now and it is going strong.. I might upgrade the U version and give mine away... Great Video Ted!!!!
Need to change to the newer upgraded version call 5610U….the “U” is for an upgraded movement that has current time showing in “stopwatch” and “timer” modes
I love my DW5600. I found it on clearance at Walmart for $28 in 2021. I want a GWM5610 for the atomic feature and the awesome red stripe. I love mechanical watches and have a few, but i love square G-Shocks. They are iconic and look awesome and are durable as flip. My favorite Casio product.
I love the 5610. in the last three years or so I've had five surgeries and several medical procedures punctuated by more other medical consultations that I care to count and my 5610 old model has been on my wrist for nearly all of them. This is my watch that I can depend on. I also have the current 'U' model that arguably has slightly better functionality and the white back light is great. I have some more expensive mechanical pieces but I've well and truly bonded with my old model 5610 since a time when things were going south. I cannot recommend this watch enough. Many thanks for sharing Teddy.
@@fahadbinfarid5927 It's just different. If you want to see the time in most modes the 'U' version is arguably better. It's worth noting that the stop watch on the newer version will only count to 1/100th second granularity for the first hour then counts full seconds, the old one counts 1/100th for the hours as well but you don't get the time displayed in the SW mode.
This is the watch that I use to set all my other watches. It's my weekend and workout watch, and it's the watch I wear when I can't decide what to pick in the morning. Other than the watch my father got me when I was younger, I wouldn't abandon square in for anything.
I didn't expect to see my G-Shock in this channel, as other videos I watched featured all expensive pieces. I've been using different G-Shock models since high school. This particular one has been with me for 10+ years and has never let me down, despite all the harsh conditions it's been through. It's always been my favorite for daily use. I also have a classic Seiko, not grand, just a regular one, which is perfect for formal events. So, Casio and Seiko have been like two good friends, always around me for all these years. Thank you for this video, as not everyone can afford expensive stuff. Honestly, even if I could, I still don't think I would buy anything more than the worth of a monthly minimum wage where I am living!
Since I got mine, if I had to have a one watch collection. I think it would have to be this one. It’s got history. It’s a great size. It’s accurate and comfortable. 200m Water resistance. I can’t tick all those boxes even with my favourite mechanicals.
I have a DW-5600E ($50) which I believe is the no frills version of the original. No solar, No atomic time; 10 year battery life...the same that the rechargeable solar; but cheaper battery replacement. I live where no atomic signal is available, so no need. I have over 20 watches, and I wear my g-shock at least once a weeK...more than some in my collection.
I appreciate that you review watches of all price categories, and the way you describe them shows your love of timekeeping itself. Keep up the great work and always remember where your watch journey began
I got my first 5600 in the early nineties and have owned three in 30 years. The first I lost after a decade, second ran for 15 years and I gifted it. Now I have a 5610 and love the solar sustainability. Most reliable, durable and comfortable watches ever! 🤙
I'm glad to see someone publishing a video on a true every day watch. A couple of years ago I needed a new 5600 watch and I got the 5610U. It is my outside work watch. I know that nothing I'm doing outside is going to hurt it. During a month of wear I will use most all of the features. If something were to happen to my watch I would replace it with another of the same model. I don't know that I have another watch in my collection that I can say that about.
Agreed.Owning the 5610 for 2 years now. It's my most worn watch. I have the regular one, not the U. But according to the information on the back, it's made in Thailand.
I got this watch for Christmas and I love it. had an Apple Watch before and don't use it anymore. you can wear this watch and forget about it. you have the perfect time and don't have to think about charging it. I love it!
I have the base DW5600, it is just a solid all round watch. I use it as my watch for any physical work that involves potential damage. Funny I bring it in and run some water over it and it looks like new again. It kind of is both a tool but also lives in my watch box as just a nice watch. I am a big G-Shock fan and my favourites are my GG1000-1a5 Mudmaster and GA-700-2A. They are big watches which I like but worth noting that they are thick enough to make putting work gloves on and off at least noticeable. The 5600 you don’t even notice working in and keeps a lower profile when working around things that might catch on a watch which can be a plus.
Awesome watch & module. I have the GW5000U which is basically the more premium version of this watch at $250-$300 but has the exact same module. It comes with better resin & full DLC coated stainless steel core & screw down caseback, but the 5610 is definitely a better bang for your buck. I love my GW5000U though & think the price is justified
I have the GWM5610U - had the older model previously and I couldn't imagine being without a 'square'. I also have the GA-B2100 as a more fashion/casual piece. Love your videos by the way - so well presented and detailed, really well done.
God tier. I've worn a tough solar gshock pretty much every day for 13 years. It has been beat, battered, dropped, and through the laundry at least 3 times. Looks alittle rough but works as intended. I own many watches from invicta pro divers to an omega seamaster but none have served me like my gshocks.
A step up from this is the GWM5000U which has the exact same 3495 module and all the same features but has a full stainless steel case and a slightly softer/better resin strap.
While doing clearing out some old bits I rediscovered a collection of G-Shocks I had bought in America and also was gifted as I was touring with a music artist. One of them was the GW-5625E, one of the 25th anniversary editions. The screen was of, but after some time charging up the solar battery it’s been alive and kicking, syncing every night and made me sell my Apple Watch and some of the other G Shocks. It originally had the see through jelly strap, which I changed to an all black, so now it’s a black and gold look and just gets on with life. I may still pickup a 5610 with steel core, but this one is doing me well as I’ve worn it everyday since the summer of 2023. All these years later, a bit of sun and it’s working like normal. Love it
I own this piece since many years and also added the black display version to my collection recently. It's one of the greatest G-Shocks ever IMHO. The modest size and features (no needless functions, but Solar and Multiband 6) for THIS price (well under 100€ in Europe) make this piece truly outstanding!
I have a G-Shock Gulfman 9100. Same battery since 2009. Been through Afghanistan. Been blown up. Countless hours of surfing and paddle boarding. Multiple dirtbike accidents. So many impacts. It’s been all over the world. How it’s alive I do not know. Replaced the strap a couple times. Terribly uncomfortable, but still the best watch ever.
After watching hours of your videos I stopped by Walmart to get me a Casio "beater". I've never really worn a watch but love the look of the them and your video convinced me to get one. I just bought a cheap watch to make sure it something that I like since I'm not used to wearing one. Hope to start a small collection as long as I can get used to wearing one. Thanks for all the great info and videos!
People sleep on the GW-B5600 series, which has the classic square looks, still has atomic sync, and also had Bluetooth time sync for when you’re out of range of the atomic clock. They’re absolutely amazing.
I got a GW-B5600 and it uses the regular 5600 sized bezel. It does everything I need, which is why I didn't get the 5610. It's a fantastic single watch to wear when I'm traveling too.
@@patricklinkousI have both. The Bluetooth locator works ok. The 5610 to me feels more robust stiffer resin, the gw5600 resin feels to soft for me. I gave the 5600 to my daughter. My wrist rotation’s usually gw 5610/gw6900/ga2100b/glx5600/ & iwatch
i own the 5610 and a Bluetooth Casioak- I do not like the Bluetooth Functionality at all because pairing it with the Phone app is always a pain, and the Casio Apps are terrible. The Radio controlled System has been completely worry free for Years now….
Have this exact watch and like it a lot more than I expected. Great watch to wear for "utility" type activities. And it is small/thin so fits under a sleeve/jacket pretty easily too. My other G is a GW-7900. Even though it wears a little larger, it's not too bad. I like it a little better because it can display 2 timezones simultaneously, plus shows moon, tide, and mini-timer simultaneously.
Got the GWM5610 since 2018, among my other auto-movements collection including 2 casio protrek quad sensors solar battery. The most often watch that I brought to my overseas trip to flip over with GMT watches, due to slimmer, lighter, simpler, and versatile at any climate of the country I visited. Peace of mind.
I owe a lot of wonderful watches, but I’ve never lost my love for this precise G-Shock. It is among my most worn pieces and I just adore the practical functionality it offers. This watch caused me to buy an MRG square, a TVA as well as a Stainless Square - but this humble but really tough and charismatic 5610 remains my favorite Gshock and it’s among my top 3 favorite watches - mechanical pieces and all. I just can’t say enough good things about it!
I have 8 watches ranging from $20 to $600 and the classic gshock square is the watch I find myself reaching for more than any other. It is a true set it and forget it kind of watch, can take a beating, is comfortable, and practical. I also just love the shape of the watch and think it looks great on any wrist. Best $100ish I have ever spent!
Brilliant as always......... I.ve had many Gs, mostly Casioaks, but also a number of squares. I've now got just 2, the "5000U" solely made in Japan, for the Japanese market. The strap is superior and the case back is screwdown. It's far more expensive, but in my view the ultimate Gshock square. My last G is another square.... inverted screen , with bluetooth.....
I would say the DW-5600 would be a better choice since it is relatively cheaper and you don’t need to get a solar charger if your battery drains. Also the Multiband while sounds good on paper its reception highly depends upon your geographic location and weather conditions. I would say unless you work in an environment where Bluetooth is not allowed get a Bluetooth G-Shock instead. I don’t think swapping battery would be an issue for water resistance if you place the water seal back correctly. You don’t need a professional maintaining a G-Shock.
I really do not know how to praise these Casio’s enough! I am still rocking a DW 1500 and is about 40 years old! I have this 5610u as well, and other 4 more Casios. They are incredible!
My previous watch was brilliant - it was accurate to 1 second in a hundred years, dustproof, shockproof - having a 10 ton weight dropped on it from 50 metres, waterproof to 1,000 metres, integral porridge alarm ensuring perfect porridge every morning for breakfast, solar powered even at night and a battery that could jump start a vehicle,USB connectivity, solid gold case and strap encrusted with diamonds rubies and sapphire, bluetooth range of 10 miles, built in 4 slice toaster and it was so valuable i was constantly escorted by bodyguards and slept with my arm in a specially constructed safe at night.Bloody watch caught fire !
Cheap and effective screen protectors are available for these as well, making it pretty much completely worry free. Also picked up a plastic link band off eBay for like $12. This model got me into the hobby :)
Proud owner of the original 5610 and absolutely loving it! Best no-nonsense beater watch you can ask for, truely a set-it-and-forget it piece. No doubt im my mind its a permanent addition in my collection.
The 5610 is a perpetual icon. Timeless in its simplicity. I can attest that it is not for larger wrists. The strap could be a tad longer with extra holes the closer your wrist approach 8 in.
There's the king of g for that kind of wrist size.. It is essentially a 5600/5610 on steroids. Come on, we small wrist guys only have the square (and maybe the Casioak), you can wear any gshock with your gigantic wrist. Leave us alone 😅
for my square g-shock piece, i ended up with a 5000u because of the soft strap and the robust back panel - very hardy and comfortable with pretty much the same features - probably a little more expensive lol, but my fav
I like my G-shock BD-200 because it is kinda stylish and fits my everyday life which consist of weight training, cycling and generally outdoorsy lifestyle I live by the beach and I spend a lot of time outside. Also, I really hate the look of smartwatches, I like my iPhone, but I can't get myself to wear an Apple Watch. My model of G-Shock has all the stuff I need, which is mostly stopwatch, time, date and daily steps which is really accurate. I got the updated MIP display for extra visibility.
I love mine. It is the perfect balance between rugged and affordable. A lot of times i don't feel comfortable taking my automatic or even quartz watches on excursions such as a bumpy bike ride or rock climbing. But this one i feel totally at ease and even if it happened to get smashed against a rock or something, not wallet-breaking.
I don’t wear it as much as before but it’s still my favorite G shock. I also have full metal GMW-B5000MB that’s my daily driver for some time now because it has nicer band (replaced bracelet with rubber band) that is much softer. Planning to buy GW5000 for that reason, better quality materials. But 5610 is the most beatiful G shock IMO.
The DW-5200 [240], purchased in 1984, is still my daily driver. Like me, it's had a rough and tumble life but still going strong. I'll keep the GWM5610-1 in mind should my 5200 conk out before I do.
Another option if people want a slightly different look is the G5600UE - although it's numbered '5600' it has the same slightly smaller dimensions of the 5610, making it effectively the same as the GWM5610U but without multiband six, and with a different color scheme of blue/yellow like the very first square G.
The funny thing about G-Shock is, of all the G-Shock models that had ever existed, only the tough solar era models can widely live up to Ibe's original "triple 10" concept; Because only a hand full battery powered G-Shock were ever rated to have a 10 year battery life. Even the original DW-5000C didn't actually satisfy the "triple 10" criteria. One thing I don't think it was mentioned is it is a world timer with up to 5 custom pre-selected "quick access" time zone with a "True/Traveler" GMT function via "A/B" button instant time zone swap function.
I have used my apple watch for 5 years now and i´m sick of every notification bs and most the stuff it does are non usuable, got back to my gshock and was the best i done!
If you don't appreciate the connection to atomic clocks, since in most countries you won't have an antenna available to keep you synchronized, you can opt for the 5600U for a lower price. It has an illuminator system although you will miss having more alarms and countdowns configurable to seconds. On the contrary, if you want a watch with finishes at the next level, you could opt for the 5000U, which has the same module as the 5610U, with all its features. But with a stainless steel case treated with electrolysis, also a mesh of better quality to the touch and finishes, and a screen-printed display with more organized, symmetrical and legible information. Of course, this model will cost you double or triple the price, but you can tell that it is made in Japan, making it truly superior.
Ive owned this watch in several variants and just ordered a new one - it’s perfect. I usually end up giving them away or selling for £50 when I get a new diver but always come back to them. The only thing I’d improve is the light. It does the job but could be better
This model comes with a plastic watch stand. Keep it. Because if you are living on the east coast and struggling to get night time synchronization with the radio control, then this watch stand will help you out. Just put the watch on the stand at night and see if reception is better.
Just got mine this weekend. Precisely, I bought it as a daily beater and as a watch to take on my adventure trips. I am positively surprised by how light it is and how well it fits around the wrist.
My 5610 (pre 'U', EL lighting) has been a trooper for 13 years, going on at least 100 dives to 30 m recreational depths, and a few dives beyond 50 m (but with a dive computer for safe decompression on ascent). The only faults I've found with it are 1) the face surround is needlessly busy with marketing text, and 2) the rubber bezel does permit all sorts of lived life gunk (from dried salt to lint to dead skin) to find its way between the bezel and the polycarbonate case. In the case of my watch, this meant less possible travel for the buttons, meaning I couldn't actuate them with light presses. But it was just $6 ($12 shipped) for a new bezel, and a little time with some toothpicks, rubbing alcohol, and some tiny drops of lubricant to bring it back to as new condition.
Such a solid "package" of a watch. Light, comfortable, and it just does it all and works. Its my "tool" watch, gardening, walking, DIY. I wear this, a dress watch and a Sub. the perfect set imo.
This was my 2nd G-Shock after buying the gw 7900 solar. I took it off one day to mix some paint and my mother-in-law snatched it and wears it constantly.
Owned a few Gshocks since the mid-80s you simply cannot go wrong with them. I set the time of all my watches off of my radio controled G Shock Rangeman GW 9400
Perfect watch. Legible, stopwatch, alarm, time zones, great size, solar and raio functions provide pick up and go convenience. Only thing I would want to change is the strap which is a bit cheap.
A truly iconic piece. There's a variant of the G-Shock square to fit almost any taste, but even the original is a surprisingly well made design with just enough pops of color to add character. I do still like my analog G-Shocks more aesthetically, but there is something to be said about not having a watch hand obscure the date window or the like. The only caveat I'd give to people with smaller wrists is that the resin band on these flares out at the lugs instead of being able to pivot down like on most watch straps so it wears a bit larger than the length suggests instead of hugging the wrist. It's something that helps the watch land with the face up with the strap down and absorbing impact if it falls but does impact how it wears. Though comparing my square variant that just arrived today with the one I've had longer, it does start to contour a bit over time. Even if this won't fit a small wrist as well as a 2100/Casioak, this still wins on functions as a beater with dual time functions if one needs a travel watch.
I have this exact watch for tasks that I don't want to put my analog quarz or automatic watches through. I love it! It is a tank without being too big.
Honestly man, I just recently picked up one of the "Casioak" G-shocks, the GA-B2100 (solar version), and man it is so much fun. It weighs nothing, keeps PERFECT time, and I will never ever have to worry about it. I'm glad that the general hate for quartz watches seems to be diminishing in the watch enthusiast community, but I think having a solar powered quartz watch is almost just as cool as having an automatic watch. I think I'll add a 5610 to my collection before too long as well, just because!

probably just a new strap after a few decades😂@@glenndollard1224
@@glenndollard1224I don't do G-Shock, Pro Trek only babehhh
This is my only watch, and I absolutely love it. It's on my wrist all day, every day, and has never once let me down. It's been smashed into walls, dropped off a balcony, put through the washing machine, brought skiing, hit by paintballs, been left in a muddy puddle for a day, and been to the bottom of the harbour, and all I need to do in return is set it twice a year.
I'm planning on buying myself a decent dive watch for my 17th (to actually bring diving - unheard of, I know), but I'll never sell the G-Shock. I wouldn't trust anything else on my wrist on a hike or camp.
hahah with multiband 6 u dont have to set it ever, its autoset technology for g-shock watches
Why do you need to reset it ? It resets automatically using the radio timekeeping. Or maybe there's no signal where you are.
@@45graham45 No signal in Australia
Which signal do you pick up that you're talking about?
@@ChefCIntencity WWVB on 60kHz.
@Hempage I'm new to casio, and Im not a nerd. Can you explain to me in simple terms what that means?
@@ChefCIntencity the name of the station is WWVB, just like your local radio station may be named something like KMGL. The Wikipedia article on WWVB is pretty good. But you don’t really need to know much about the signal to operate the watch.
@@Hempage You're saying that you get a signal from the radio station to your watch? What does the radio signal say on your watch exactly?
I love this feature so much. Especially in the darker months aka winter...
Underrated feature!
and the GMT function!
Are you saying that when you flick your wrist to look at the time the light comes on?
@@jimmyham1618
It sure does.
As a pure timepiece, the 5610 is in a class by itself. Assuming that you can receive the radio signal, short of having an atomic clock on your wrist, you can't have a more accurate timekeeper.
apple watch
I don't get multiband where I live, but it's never more than a few seconds off my phone after months and months of abuse.
@@ajx96985610 doesn't need any Internet connection or to charge
Pro Tip: quick way to tell if you have the old version or the new "U" version is the text on the front. Old one will say "EL Back Light", new one just says "Light" like in this video.
thank u man
This is my daily watch. I've worn some form of G-Shock Square most of the time since 1991 and I'll never be without one. The 5610 has the perfect combination of durability, style, and light weight for me.
I picked this up last summer and it’s now my ultimate workout / grab n go wherever whenever watch. Effortless and dependable. Worth every penny!
What a deal, just got a DW5600 of Amazon for $49 on sale

Getting roasted by Teddy was not on my bingo card today.
I don't care if you own a Graff Diamonds Hallucination. If you don't have at least one G-Shock, it isn't collection.

Does a 2003 Baby G count?

Ok
I love the 5610. in the last three years or so I've had five surgeries and several medical procedures punctuated by more other medical consultations that I care to count and my 5610 old model has been on my wrist for nearly all of them. This is my watch that I can depend on. I also have the current 'U' model that arguably has slightly better functionality and the white back light is great. I have some more expensive mechanical pieces but I've well and truly bonded with my old model 5610 since a time when things were going south. I cannot recommend this watch enough. Many thanks for sharing Teddy.
Is the functionality of the u version much better than the normal version ?
Tough solar and multiband 6 make it the true set it and forget it watch and the one by which the others in the box are adjusted. Love this watch
And you don't even need to set it!
Since I got mine, if I had to have a one watch collection. I think it would have to be this one. It’s got history. It’s a great size. It’s accurate and comfortable. 200m Water resistance. I can’t tick all those boxes even with my favourite mechanicals.
I have this on one of the G shock composite bands - takes it to the next level of comfort and versatility
I have the gw-m5600 my wife bought me 15 years ago. Still going strong on the original battery. Fantastic watch.
because of G-Shock my first watch i bought, it made me appreciate watches.
I own several luxury watches but this casio is genuinely my favourite watch I own and would probably be my one watch for life choice.
I'm curious what other watches are in your collection? That's high praise! I am getting one of these next.
I got this watch for Christmas and I love it. had an Apple Watch before and don't use it anymore. you can wear this watch and forget about it. you have the perfect time and don't have to think about charging it. I love it!
I bought the made in JAPAN version of the tough solar 8 years ago in Tokyo. It never has lost the time even after I locked it in a drawer for 2 years
I have the base DW5600, it is just a solid all round watch.
My dad bought me the original back 1983. Sadly I had to replace the straps and the casing. But the heart is still original. I’m a Casio fan for life
I have the same watch, but my light is green. Love the solar and radio time tech.
I have the GW5000U as well. Absolutely love it, and definitely worth the price. But you cannot go wrong with the 5610.

I don't think it's actually possible to break them if you tried.
Greatest watch for the money you can buy. Literally perfect in every way.
Bought my GW5610 5 years ago and I still wear it every day. I absolutely love that watch.
Love it
Congrats on the 1000h stopwatch. Module 3063.
I love my GW-B5600SL-4 Sand and Land, but I've never connected the Bluetooth. I'm glad it exists for other people, but thankfully it still has MB6.
Interesting. Mine paired up and continually syncs up the time with no problem.@@markusweber7445
I own and love this piece. Never have to worry about it, no matter what I'm doing. It's always charged, and always on time.
Made me do the same with the MRG Square 💥
This is wild
Don't worry my latest watch has a built in fire alarm and fire extinguisher !
I bought a 5600UE as my first G-Shock a few months ago..
Now I’ve 5 more ! GBA-800, GBD-800, GD-400, G7700 and AW-500 !!
If you managed to smash it while it's on your wrist, I'd expect your arm to be more damaged than the watch lmao
It could win best of in many categories, but it's probably the THE best field/tool watch, really no debate
Bought mine in July 2009 ~ The strap broke in 2023, but otherwise it remains flawless to this day. 100% maintenance-free. A fantastic watch.
I have a 5610 with negative display and absolutely love it. This was my jumping off point for all other solar watches.
This is my new favorite G-Shock ever made you get the original 1983 design with the modern technology and it's worth every penny 👍🏻
Owned a few Gshocks since the mid-80s you simply cannot go wrong with them. I set the time of all my watches off of my radio controled G Shock Rangeman GW 9400
My wife bought me this for Christmas, the automatic lightup feature comes in really handy on my night time runs.
I’ve had this watch for 1.5 years. Absolutely love it
I recommend owning both the DW-5600 and GWM-6510. Both are cracking models.
I got one since 15 years or more or maybe it is the previous model? and still fantastic. Best value ever
