19:41 “I’m glad this episode ended on a good note” _A Few Moments Later_ 20:03 *VENGEANCE* Great reaction, especially at the end there when your jaw dropped 😅
I love how in this episode, its made apparent that flame alchemy is somewhat analagous to the atomic bomb. Its such a well done parallel, right down to prof hawkeyes lament. It truly is the most powerful form of alchemy
Manga made this bit heavier, by having Knox telling his side of the war, to Al, revealing why he isn't living with his family. (He suffered from severe PTSD, which made him nearly killing his wife during a nightmare he was having, so they decided best thing was to live separately.)
Hiromu Arakawa did a lot of research on war, its effects on its combatants, PTSD, interviews with veterans young and old in order to accurately capture the horrors of war. I'd say she did a great job.
It's easy to miss, but when Mustang's alchemy master is coughing and falling out of bed, Roy calls him "Master Hawkeye", confirming that Mustang was taught alchemy by Riza's father. While Riza isn't an alchemist herself, there are a few very slight hints she knows at least some things about the subject (like how she knew about the legend of the philosopher's stone, knew about the concept of homunculi, and immediatly knows that flame alchemy is useless in the rain). Not enough to really know the basics and actually do alchemy, but she knows some of the concepts behind and within the subject of which she passively absorbed just from growing up having an alchemist as her dad.
I love that throughout this show, the adult characters (Riza, Roy, Izumi, among others that I don't want to spoil) take responsibility for their missteps -- not by asking for forgiveness, but through taking action to make things right.
My own atheism aside. I was young when I first saw this n King Bradley's speech really left a mark on me. We can all shape our world with our own hands anything beyond that is pure chance. At least that's how it came across to me. Chills every time I hear it. That n Kimbly is a crazy but completely rational and self aware bastard.❤❤
In the original manga they had to deal with more of the "fake" stones that were found lior, they were even inside the pocket watches each state alchemist it was given. The extra power that it granted is what turn the war around
Tell me you're sadistic without telling me your sadistic: Kimblee @13:54 I guess he thinks he's honoring his enemies in some twisted way by remembering their demise by his own hands. At least he does take full accountability for his actions and owns them. I think that the best way to describe his outlook on the war is that he's indifferent, as long as he has a target to unleash his destructive behavior out on, he's happy. Kimblee is reminds me a bit of Cassius from Julius Cesar, in the way that he revels in chaos. This was another good episode it was nice seeing some old faces again and getting to get a peek at the other sides of the characters we've come to know better throughout the show. lol you got a bit excited during that spicy return from intermission.
Im slightly disappointed by the business decisions but i understand why you made them I know you get way more from Patreon than UA-cam I hope you do find a better balance I'd hate for you to get burned out I enjoy your commentary and your reactions Keep up the good work
Next three episodes are up on Patreon! 🎉🎉🎉

@Mecht it seems like it. I wonder if thats why it only really comes out on rare occasions. I feel like we see it less than others

Are you saying this episode could’ve been even heavier?! Dear God
@@MathPiHanan my thoughts exactly

@downeastbeast6448 very good job. So so sad watching it all unfold.

@@FBI_Metal_Slime I totally missed it!! I love little origin moments like this
So, she knows about as much or less than we the viewers do? Like the fundamental key concepts and what can be created?

@T.Florenz I agree. Even to the point of everybody will be held accountable
Its her father's research

It is called "Flame Alchemy". Flame alchemy is the strongest alchemy in combat, and Roy is the last flame alchemist.
