One of our best weeks of STREET PHOTOGRAPHY in York | Leica Monochrom

- After a five-year absence, it was back to one of our favourite places on earth to shoot some street photography. We shot every day for just over a week, and this video showcases some of our favourite street pictures from our time in York.
For the gear heads (and in response to questions we have been asked recently):
Sarah used a Leica M Monochrom (CCD) with a 28mm Summicron-M ASPH for everything shot in this video. Jeff also used a Leica M Monochrom (CCD) but with a 21mm Elmarit-M ASPH and occasionally a 28mm Elmarit-M ASPH.
In an earlier video, someone asked about camera bags. The backpack Sarah uses is made by National Geographic and is called an Africa small. Jeff mainly uses a Domke F2 but will sometimes use an F3X depending on how much stuff is needed for the day.
All of the images were processed in our SilverChrome presets which are available from jeffascough.com/silverchrome

This channel has rapidly become one of my favourites. Fantastic work
Thank you Jeff. I'm glad you like it.
Learning...Learning and Learning from you sir.... watching every single video of yours , THANK YOU 😊 🙏
Thank you for watching!!
This is another great collage of B&W street photography, some of which I like very much. Keep these great videos coming, wished I had discovered your channel earlier 👍👍
Many thanks!
Great work again Jeff and Sarah. I used to live near to York so it was nice to see some familiar places in your photographs. I agree with Jeff that your channel has quickly become one of my favourites👍
Thank you so much. If we were to move from the coast, the only place we would move to would be York. Such a wonderful city although we still don't quite understand the fascination and 2-hour queues for the Ghost Merchant shop on the Shambles!!
What a belter loved the music too
Thank you
Lovely work XX I'm from down the road in Castleford, used to go to York a lot. Not been there since 2008ish. Hoping to get back next year xx
What a relief this video again.
So beautiful.
It really is a moment of enjoyment. My thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure. Thank you for watching ❤️
Another great video from Jeff and Sarah ,quality black & white
Thank you so much. Glad you like it.
As ever such a pleasure to see your work.
Thank you Kevin.
I just came across your channel a couple of days ago and I have enjoyed watching several of your vlogs on street photography. I have only shot street photography using automatic focus using the Q, Q2M and the Fuji X100 system. I wondered since you use manual cameras, how hard is to to use manual focus for street? Thanks, keep up the nice work.
Zone focusing. 3m at f8 and don’t worry about the focus :)
Great ending :- ) nice edit
Loved every bit of this video! So nice :)
Thank you. We’re glad you enjoyed it!!
Love the ending images to close out this set! Really cool!
Thank you. They were actually the last pictures Sarah took.
Not sure how I missed this video as I usually keep up. I really enjoyed it. York looks like a great place for street photography.
Thank you, Catherine. It’s one of our favourite places and it has so much history. Although it’s being taken over by tourists in Harry Potter capes!!!
Excellent as always 🙂
Thank you so much 😀
Great one.... loved that 📷😎👊💗
Loved that ending shot too... perfect to close out with .
The one that made me chuckle was the old fella having a rummage and a fiddle 😄
Always great vids... thanks 😎📷👊👍👋
Thank you Steve. It was one of those pictures where we didn't realise what he was doing until we processed it!!
@@WalkLikeAlice i think even he would chuckle at seeing it. An innocent moment of rearrangement. 😄
Catch you soon. Cheers 🍻 👋👋
Brilliant stuff. York is on my list of places to go and do some photo-ing. Thank you.
Thank you. Yes it’s definitely worth spending some time there.
I'm a big fan of both of you… I know you either use a yellow or orange filter in “beach photography”…. do you also use filters (yellow or orange) during street photography?
Very much enjoyed the video . I have been in to photography for a decade now and have recently upgraded my equipment and im so in to urban/street monochrome as well as Abstract ,landscape ,wildlife ,and architectural photo shooting this was a very enjoyable and inspiring video loved the music by the way also i enjoyed the 60/70s dress styled people you captured .
Cheers. Thanks for watching. Very much appreciated. 🙏🙏
Great work as usual. I love your vlog.
Thanks so much!
Needed this today thank you :)
You're very welcome
great monochrome photographs I love both of your style. 😁
Thank you 🙏
I really like these. Having found you about a week ago I have spent far to much time watching.
Thank you. I'm glad we are keeping you watching!!
Love that photograph of the dog and young lad coming out of the shop. 1:47
Thank you. It's one of Jeff's favourites too.
Nice video - great images
Thank you
Another great one! Would love to see you post some of your work on VERO.
Thank you Steve. We looked at VERO but it seems very insular and slow. I know a lot of photographers are creating accounts there, but we want to get our work in front of new people not regurgitating it to the same people which VERO seems to want you to do.
Cracking stuff.
Thank you 🙏
Nicely done. Thanks to your channel and others like it, I’ve finally moved over to a Leica M9 and I’m loving it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you. It’s a great camera. They haven’t really matched it since. For us it’s the closest thing to a film camera in the digital world.
@@WalkLikeAlice agreed. I’m loving the challenge of no EVF, no chimping, using Sunny 16. The whole feel is excellent and the image quality is superb. Very happy I did.
I wanna go to York by myself next month so that’s na inspiration for me. I will practice Street photography as well 😊
We are holding a workshop there in June. Great place to photograph.
Some nice Street shots. Subbed 📸📸
Thank you!! Glad to have you here 🙏
Are ya'll using an orange filter on your cameras for the B&W shots? They sure look great, especially some of the skies!!
Yellow filters on the cameras. Orange doesn’t add much for the additional drop in exposure.
Wunderbare Aufnahmen, herzlichen Glückwunsch und vielen Dank fürs mitnehmen.
Viele Grüße aus dem Fichtelgebirge Thomas
Danke Thomas
Going back to York 😁😁😊
Do you still shoot weddings? Very inspiring videos
Thank you. We only do a very small handful of weddings these days.
I'm a big fan of both of you… I know you either use a yellow or orange filter in “beach photography”…. do you also use filters (yellow or orange) during street photography?
Yes we both use yellow filters on the street just to help with the contrast. The only time we don’t is if the light is really contrasty.
