Thanks for the tutorial. It was so easy to make, and looks so cute. I had to adjust the size for an 8x5" kindle. I first made it 12x12, but that wasn't large enough, so i went with 13.5x13.5, and it turned out perfect, with room to spare for the cord.
Oh wow, I watched your video years ago. I made several for gifts, and one for my I-Pad and one for my Kindle. Love these. So here I am again watching you 😊
That is too funny! I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial. I see now how you would see putting candles in there. 🤣🤣 Welcome, from Cold and snowy Colorado. ❤️
Hi Karla- I'm sorry, I don't. I haven't worked with a magnetic closure in any project, so without doing so, I don't think I can recommend anything properly. My apologies on that.
First time watching, and I might have missed now to determine the beginning fabric size for each finished piece. I know many Kindles and IPads are different sizes. Is there a rule figure that out?
Sandra- Unfortunately, it really does depend on the size of your tablet. This one that I made was 15" X 15" and it was large enough to hold a 9.7" iPad. In order to make the envelope bag, it has to be square. I would imagine, that a 12" X 12" would hold a 7" or 8" Kindle. I hope this helps.
As I have the smallest Kindle Fire, I'm going to work it out by folding a sheet of paper round it. But this is so much simpler and quicker than all the others with fancy pockets and zips. Having said that, I think I'll add a small pocket inside to hold the cable, probably centred round the X.
I have 2 to make for my grandson who is autistic. He has them in cases. One is width 12” by height 10.5” and the other one is width 11” by height 12.5. Can you advise what size squares I would need
Hi Heather- I would recommend 14 X 14. I would then fold it and see if it looks too big. If so, then I would take it down to 13 X 13, but I really think the 14 is gonna be the best size.
I just found your site and I love this video. I would like to make one for my granddaughter's IPAD that came out in Sept 2019. I am new to sewing and have no idea how to determine how large I need to cut my fabric. I looked up the model number to get the specs. It says that it is a 10.2 7th generation. Any help you could give me would be so appreciated.
Hi. Am eager to make cover for I Pad but you didn't give dimensions except for Kindle and 15 inch ruler. Help!! Leaving in five days and need to sew one quickly. Anne
Hi Karen- If you are going to make this specific iPad case, I would encourage you to measure your iPad first. Figure out those dimensions and then add 4 or 5 inches on each side. The seam allowance on this particular case is different than most traditional cases because of the folding for the envelope style. 😊
@@lauraclark9698 I would add 4 or 5 inches on each side. You want to ensure that it will fit. 😊 For example, if my iPad is 9 X 7, I would cut my square 13 x 13.
Hi Susie- Each iPad varies in size so it is difficult for me to give you one standard size. However, I think 15 1/2” is a pretty good size if your iPad is 9.7”. If it’s larger than that, then I would increase the size. :)
Love these little bags, want to make some. Great gifts too.

Hi -- love your tablet cover! I plan to make one but would like to use a magnetic snap -- do you have any recommendations?
Hi Karla- I'm sorry, I don't. I haven't worked with a magnetic closure in any project, so without doing so, I don't think I can recommend anything properly. My apologies on that.
Love this project great job awesome idea I am going to add a wristlet to mine😁 also make one for a friend of mine 😍
That's a great idea!
If I am making an envelope cover for a laptop that measures 12 x 9 what size would I cut the fabric to fit the laptop ? Thank you for your help.
Can you use directional fabric if so what way do you have to put it?
So if I have an iPad measuring 10 in x 7 in what size should my material be ?
How does the flap snap adhere to the corresponding place on the envelope?
Wow great gift 👍👍Teresa Stacey 🇦🇺🇦🇺🌹
What measurements do I use if I make one for Mac Air laptop?

What kind of sewing machine do you have? It looks decent.
Can you add straps .?
Hola no has explicado como tomar las medidas para poder calcular la tela del proyecto si es un iPad o kindle😊
My daughter writes books she wants to be a author we're trying to get them published ❤️
if your Ipad is larger, how would I figure how big to cut out my beginning square? Thanks!
Hi Karen- If you are going to make this specific iPad case, I would encourage you to measure your iPad first. Figure out those dimensions and then add 4 or 5 inches on each side. @@TheCraftyAuthor, so, if mine is 10x7, then I would cut 10 x 12? Thank you. Id like to make this as a gift for the boy that I keep
@@lauraclark9698 I would add 4 or 5 inches on each side. You want to ensure that it will fit. 😊 For example, if my iPad is 9 X 7, I would cut my square 13 x 13.
What is the finished size?.
Mary- Finished size is 10” X 9”
Is it necessary to sew the X ??
Hi Susie- Yes. Because it holds all the layers together and keeps them from shifting. 😊
How easy would it be to add a shoulder strap
Heather- I don't think adding a should strap would be too difficult on this.
What size pieces do you cut for iPad case?

Mine turned out even and didn’t fit at all.
I’m sorry to hear that. 😢
