45 years ago I planned a 3 week vacation from Ohio to California and back. I saw the Wig Wam Motel but stayed at Motel 6. Tom Bodet was in charge then- $19.95. There was suppose to have been 2 more locations of the Wig Wam motels also. All the attractions and towns have grown up since I was there. The prices to visit them was " much" cheaper then. Glad that you stayed in the tee pee. Always wondered what is was like. Preserving History.👍👍. Saw the Painted Desert and many more attractions. Seemed nice to visit again with you. Thanks Russ. 🤗🤗
That's totally cool john, I love memories like this. Especially since I remember WHY it was called motel 6! As in...6$ dollars!!! I was lucky enough to take this route every summer till I was 18, when everyone started to die off or move. Phoenix to Columbus. Russ has me getting ready to Go again soon.
I love Arizona. I love the coffered ceilings in the museum. You don't see coffered ceilings much anymore except in luxury homes it takes a real craftsman to do them.
One of the nicest things about traveling in your own RV is: you always get your own comfy mattress, pillow, and blankets every night. Back to da van for Russ.
I remember staying at the Wigwam with my family on our vacation to the Grand Csnyon, Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. The antique car parked out front was my dad's brand spanking new salmon pink 1960 Chevy Belair! We 3 little girls were thrilled to stay in a tepee! Wonderful memories.! 😊 Thanks for another great video.
Hey Russ 🤠👍 gorgeous ! I want those petrified wood slices and that beautiful jewelry 😍 My first Rv trip they didn’t have any of that in Winslow but a small sign, looks great. Great trip today really enjoyed the stops today. Thank you ❤
Wow, what an incredible adventure! Seeing the Painted Desert and learning about the historic Route 66 is just breathtaking! The blend of nature, history, and those iconic landmarks like the Wigwam Motel makes me want to pack my bags and head out there. The old courthouse and jail in Holbrook have so much character, it's like stepping back in time. And the local museum, filled with petrified wood and stories of the past, sounds like a hidden gem! Thanks for sharing this, Russy R TV - can't wait to see your next stop!
I love all the videos, especially the giant size crater, I seen that in the movie star man I have several relatives in Az, thank you again for the endless entertianment you have given my family
I thoroughly enjoy watching your UA-cam Channel, Russ. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 It's great riding shotgun with you on your travels. I wish you safe travels and I wish you the best. Talk soon, Alan.
Stopped in holbrook 1967 coming from CA,....from the Williams/Flagstaff direction going to Florida on a cross-country trip in our new vw beetle. I have faded memories of it but I do remember stopping there to get gas and eat at a diner before heading on to the petrified forest. That and the roadrunner semi trucks parked near our beetle with the big road runner bird painted on them. As a kid I thought that was cool. I guess that means I40 wasn't a thing yet in that section? We never got to stay at a wig-wam but I'd seen others and wondered what was in the top of the teepee? LOL. Another good one here. Cheers. 👍
Hi Russ, loved this video. ( love them all). We inherited 2 acres of land in Holbrook, was going to be a Dell Webb community but never took off. Still pay taxes on it($9.00 per yr) . Nice to see Holbrook. Watch all your videos. Thank you
Howdy Russ, it's good to be back on Rt 66! Sleeping in a Wigwam, how cool is that? I As always, the local museum is absolutely worth checking out. At the Meteor Crater I remember when they used to let you hike the trail around the rim for free -- I guess they charge for that now. See you next time!
You missed the mural! It was on the corner of Hopi (old ROUTE 66), right after you turn at the light! It was painted by my cousin. She is a master of every medium. The mural depicts the history of Holbrook.
Russ could you please when releasing videos from your past completed trips state on the thumbnail or in the description when the video was shot? Say the month and year or at the very least the year. This would help to alleviate confusion as to when the trip was taken. You have taken many trips over the years and in some cases you have gone to the same areas multiple times. As an example was this video from your recent summer travel, since the summer trip, or some other time? Thanks.
@@rvertv Saying “recently” is vague and reiterates my point. Was the video shot on your way back to Arizona from your recent trip, or after you have returned home?
@@tjadventures9163 I can and have already “assumed” that but going forward Russ can make it easier by simply stating when a PAST video was shot. There’s a comment by someone else on this video stating that they thought Russ was done on his trip not knowing that the video was shot earlier on the 2024 Summer Trip. Back when he was in Oregon earlier on the trip a comment was made that they thought he was just in the area (Oregon) a year ago. What they were watching a year ago was Russ had re-released a longer combined video of a trip he took in 2019. Simply stating on that video that it was shot in 2019 would have eliminated that confusion. My point to Russ is, you’re releasing videos out of sequence. Make it clear when the video was shot. Not just titled “Epic/Historic Road Trip Through The Columbia River”. How difficult is it to add “July 2024”?
what a supet beautiful motel room . i would definitely stay for a day 'whenever i got a chance to be in america . ❤ and u are so lucky that it rained when u stayed there . i wish i could get the weather there . america become my last wish now . someday when God will 'will be done , i will be there .😢 but you should mention the price of room rent and museum entrance fees . that would help alot of people who want to visit there .
My sister works in the Yerington Nevada courthouse. It's an old original courthouse too still runs, but they have a few ghost in there. Next time you go out there, you should check it out.
I don't care what who says, Arizona is spectacular!! Thanks Russ for reminding me.
Why would anyone say otherwise, of course AZ is spectacular...one of the most amazing states of all!
Russ staying in a Wigwam so we dont have to! Driven past that place a million times never stopped.
Thanks so much for the crater trip. That is as close as I will ever get to it. My traveling days are over.
Hey Russ, Studebaker Dave here! Love the Studebakers at the Wigwam Motel! Keep up the great work! 👍

Welcome home, Russ!
Many have covered Winslow and the statue, few recognize the flat bed Ford as also part of the song.
We went thru the painted desert / petrified forest on our way to Monument Valley, last month!
On My List ❤️🙏
I thought u were home and that was the end for this year. Happily surprised I get to ride along some more❤
@@Lisforpeace71 See my message below/above to Russ asking him to clarify the date of these videos. I “think” this is from his recent summer trip.
Wow👍
That is pretty spacious.
Hey Russ, cool video. How's this for a summer trip idea, visiting famous haunted places around the country. I know I'd watch it!

Jackson brown stated that the girl in the flatbed ford incident actually occurred in Flagstaff but " Winslow " sounded better than Flagstaff
New police station in my sleepy little town: $10m.
Give or take a little but that's a big hole for a 150' object👍✌
You missed the pony express exhibit upstairs in the courthouse. Maybe they don’t have it anymore. 😜

Hey,RVer TV guy! See a McDonald's in Holbrook
Singing McDonalds 🍟 in Holbrook? Please clarify our comment and Thank you!
BMO in Arizona?? Bank of Montreal. And TD is Toronto Dominion
How many miles do you have on your van?
The "wigwam" is a buzzkill in that it doesn't have a pointed ceiling at the very least.
I thought the teepee was a little disappointing I t(ought it would be a little more realistic
