- Join us for a fantastic day driving through Arizona as we continue our road trip across the USA and see a bunch of Route 66 and iconic road stops in April 2024! On this day, we visit a 50,000 year old crater caused by a meteor crashing into the earth, aka Meteor Crater, visit a bunch of cool and iconic Route 66 stops, including the famous WigWam Motel in Holbrook, AZ that inspired by the Cozy Cone Motel in the Cars films, the also famous 'Here It Is' Jack Rabbit Trading Post, Standin' On the Corner in Winslow Arizona, and the ruins of some once famous roadside Route 66 stops like the former Twin Arrows ruins and Meteor City. Meteor Crater and Meteor City that we visit in this video, were both featured in the 1984 sci-fi film Starman, and we really enjoyed the dry heat, desert air, mountainous and rocky terrain, mixed with quirky roadside icons of Route 66 and the classic days of the Great American Road Trip!
This is my favorite kind of road trip day, seeing all sorts of amazing sites, from natural wonders to man made curiosities, some left to time and the elements, some still chugging along keeping Americana alive! We met so many kind and wonderful people on this day too! Hope you enjoy a true road trip adventure day seeing the roads of Arizona with us! The trek across the country continues in the next vlog!
Here is a list of the videos covering this trek across the USA, in order from start to finish. Hop in the car with us and enjoy the ride:

Thank you for being with us for this epic adventure, USA coast to coast!!
I loved this one, too, especially getting a treat of Jackie singing “Take it Easy” on the corner of Winslow, Arizona. Whenever Jackie sings, it is music to my ears 🤩
Grand Canyon next? Don't miss the Grand Canyon, it blows the socks off of that meteor crater.
we did go, but not sure it will be featured in a vlog or not. There's weird new rules about filming in national parks that I don't really understand. I'll post some pics of it tho!
Love your tiedie tshirts from Indiana cool place
I was born in Arizona and still live here , going on 70 years ! i have visited all of the places in Arizona over the years its a good time of year to visit ! Welcome :)
Thank You for showing the inside of a Cozy Cone..
I would love to stay at the Wigwam Motel. This was more up my alley. I love all the Route 66 stuff and would love to do a full trip along the route. I've been on small portion of it between Chicago and Springfield, Mo. I would love to stand on the corner of Winslow, Az.
Jackie you keep traveling we will keep liking, watching and subscribing. Thank You.
Love Jeff Bridges!! Starman is awesome!! Thanks for showing us the crater!!
Looks like the road to the crater is cratered.
So funny - we went the opposite direction of you during our big honeymoon road trip in 2021! Started the day outside the Grand Canyon, went through Flagstaff, and saw at the Route 66 stops and the Meteor Crater on our way to Albuquerque for the night!
As a Native of the area, I can safely say that the people taking pictures after them are actually taking pictures of the weird people taking pictures of the area...lol. just kidding. Because it's the most exciting thing since Walmart opened in Winslow...lol.
Come back through Oklahoma. We have the longest stretch of drivable Route 66.
Loved this video Jackie!! Love the intro music, so cool!! my favorite was the Indian tent Hotel! So cute inside!! The souvenir shop was really cool. I loved the old artifacts!! I would definitely stand by the corner and take a picture that be so cool!! 😀❤️😀❤️❤️
I did not think those teepees were going to look that nice inside. I would definitely stay there. I didn’t know that route 66 was so extensive. It’s sad to see so many of the roadside attractions closed down and abandoned. But I can still see people stopping just to take pictures. I have seen a jackrabbit in real life and it is huge. I remember seeing one when I was like 12 and I could’ve swore it was the same size as me. I sure am enjoying all of your videos. I know I watched this before, but I never commented on it so I went back and watched it again.
I thought the same, they looked nice and cozy and I'd totally stay there! I would love to see a real jackrabbit in real life one day!
Another success thanks for taking us along very informative keep enjoying your trip
Hi Jackie, make California your Final Destination, but dont make it the next state unless you have a schedule for D23 & Season on the Force in Disneyland up to May 4th! Then ya i understand! But if your driving & seeing sights & no Disney Schedule, drive up to Utah & visit the National Parks in the Southern Parts of Utah!
Hey Jackie there's a Wigwam Motel in San Bernadino old route 66 also I drove there it's really Kool looks similar maybe check it out. Loving these videos love traveling with you guys keep em coming. ❤❤❤ btw are you guys driving back a different route?
Starman is one of my all-time favorite movies. I remember my parents taking me to the theater to see it and was instantly hooked. I visited the crater in 2020 and couldn't believe how large it was. I wasn't able to visit during my last trip across country but I do hope to visit again in the future. It also appears that you and Sam were in Santa Fe the same time I was. Small world.
What a small world indeed! And what a cool memory seeing Starman in the theatre. Hope you’re enjoying your trip too!
Here’s how old I am, I saw ‘Starman’ in the theater when it was new, lol, my ex and I saw it. I remember my ex saying that the actor that played the gas station attendant, Alex Daniel’s is his name, is from Columbia,SC, where I’m from and currently live, and he went to high school with my ex also. Small world I guess, funny I guess he never really made it big in Hollywood , don’t recall him being in anything else.
I think my local classic rock station may be the ones responsible for the Glenn Frey Drive sign above the statue of Glenn Frey. I know for sure around Detroit they've been responsible for having a few streets named in honor of classic rock artists (Glenn Frey and Bob Seger so far).
New Mexico is a fun and go on a journey to explore new things and have a good lunch also a nice dessert 🍪🎂🎂 this year when are you coming back to Disney Orlando magic Kingdom this month this is Jenna Dabao had some awesome videos UA-cam are the best
Woo hoo!!! You visited my hometown! Thank you for stopping by!! Our drama class got to visit the set of Starman during filming. Got to meet Jeff Bridges.
How cool is that!!!
This was filled many joyous looks spots to see. I would enjoy staying in a wigwam. The rabbit and that store was charming. The crater gives a moment to pause and give a meditative moment of being in awe.
I see the wigwam I stayed in!!! Such a cool experience, but smallest shower ever 😂
So much fun!! I need to go to Winslow. The Crater looked amazing. Can't wait to see the next one.
22:49 Is Sam’s dad a Starman?!😂 Love it guys keep on truck’in
❤ love this one too! I did this trip a few years before learning about vlogs. Thank you for bringing me back ❤ weren’t the wigwams cool? We didn’t stay in there but did use one of the restrooms in one of the wigwams. It’s just a comfy tiny room inside lol😂 plus the old cars 👍🏻. I love the crater- crazy to find out the meteor pieces were found outside of it right? I truly feel transported there to that whole area. Keep up the amazing work and may you continue to have an amazing trip ❤
I hope y'all enjoyed Flag! We go up there every summer to escape the heat in Tucson.
My bucket list is to take a road trip out west and also to drive the pan American highway 😊
I am enjoying your road trip videos! What a fun experience this is.
Awesome video!! Fun fact, Joe Walsh once lived out of my father-in-laws car back in the day in Canton, Ohio. They both would go out and play music together until Joe moved out to California to form the band Teen King and the Emergencies. Later known as the Eagles!
I am enjoying these so much. I most likely will watch them more than once. Lol
Abandoned attractions are so creepy! Loved this video❤
Awesome vlog of Arizona and Route 66‼️
For sure a pretty fun drive. Have fun, stay safe! Use Sunscreen! Cheers!
Did you miss Apache Death Cave and two guns its was between the arrow and Winslow. We did and turned around in Flagstaff and back tracked. Loving your trip
Hey Sam, my mum loves Star-Man too. She use to always try to get me to watch.
I soo love both of your vibes! Sending love from Tucson. Happy trails. 🥰
"I love your enthusiasm..." Don't they know who they're talking to? Haha!
When you said you were going to the Meteor Crater, I wondered if you knew about Starman! So glad you shed some light on that classic. Such a unique performance by Jeff Bridges. And nice to see Karen Allen again after Raiders. Quirky, fun movie. With not much imagination in recent newer movies, it's great to go back and see the creativity of years gone by.
And I kind of love how they left the ending open like that.
Thank you Jackie & Sam for sharing your cross country road trip with us all. Was at Thorpe Park today & saw Hyperia testing for the first time!
Went to Arizona in 2000. Beautiful state
I love Starman! Did you ever see the TV series?
So gorgeous out there. Love the video. Dig your vibe.
It makes me wanne go back to Arizona asap😉
I stayed at the Wigwam on Rt 66 in California a few yrs ago and loved it ! Thanks so much for this series... Be well
oh, those raptors that look like they running toward the road , are still there. I shot footage of them about 25 years ago or so on my way to Vegas for my only only visit ( so far)
We drove on I-40 eastbound through Arizona and New Mexico along with Route 66 on a way home.
kachow!! how cool is this to see the Inspo for cars
This was so cool...thanks Jackie ❤
Thanks for sharing your road trip w us...I like seeing places I haven't been...Jackie n Sam...have fun!
Wonderful vlog as always.
Great episode! Feels like we’re right there with you guys (but with more legroom).
My grandma collected the state magnets you showed at the jack rabbit store. She got one for every state she’d been to (which was just about all of them).
Looking forward to more. Be safe!
What a cool collection she must have! And yes, you guys have a lot more legroom hahaha! And you get to skip the 8 hour drives into just a minute or two montage! 😂 I’m just glad to have these memories documented too 💕
Love it. We have a Wigwam Village in KY also. It's near Mammoth Cave National Park. Only a few of those left. Great video!
We definitely want to explore KY on a future trip!
My wife and I actually watch you and Sam from Holbrook, Massachusetts. No wig-wams though
How cool!
You're in my backyard! I hope to see you in one or more of my play spaces soon: Sedona? Jerome? Prescott? Grand Canyon? Soon all will be revealed!
Oh yea it’s coming!
Your windshield needs cleaning😂
Some of those abandoned places look like scenes ftom The Last of Us or Walking dead😮
Pedantic me wants the sign about Poisonous Snakes and insects to say Venomous instead. There are insects that can be Poisonous to comsume or touch but no Poisonous snakes at all. 🐍🦂
Hahah trust me, we’re washing it CONSTANTLY!! Hours of driving thro deserts every day, there’s nothing to be done 😂 I wonder if there are both poisonous and venomous, or it’s just that more people know what poison means haha!
I forgot to mention that we walked the entire circumference around the meteor crater in the late 80s, when they let you do that. I believe they stopped it to preserve the mining sites. Big Starman fan!!😀
That must have been amazing to do that!!
It's been years since I've been that far down Route 66...brought back lots of memories of trips to Vegas! Love your videos! Stay safe and have fun!!! Wait for that big drop off the plateau as you leave Flagstaff....it's a doozie!
It's so cool that you came to AZ Jackie. I am curious how you would compare the summer weather with Florida's when we have a monsoon. However it's so hot I wouldn't recommend it. I have yet to go to these areas, at least as an adult, and I am a native. We have never been to the Grand Canyon either.
It’s such different heats! In AZ my sinuses get dry and it feels like you’re just baking. In Florida I’m more used to the humidity but it can definitely sap ya! I love the heat tho so I’d rather that than cold any day!
Welcome to my neck of the woods!
What a neat leg of the trip … my fave was the cozy cone. I recognized it immediately … so cool. And the meteor crater was jaw dropping
Our favorite part of the video was when they let you film inside of the Wig Wam Hotel! BTW, Route 66 will celebrate it's 100th anniversary in 2026. We were in Tulsa doing a similar tour and they spoke of all the development that is taking place to bring back some of the original vibe in time for the celebration! We can't wait...
Oh wow that’s really cool! Maybe we will plan a big trip for that!
I love all of y’all’s videos but this series is definitely turning out to be my favorite one yall have done so far love it 😊
It’s one of my favorite things we’ve ever done too!! 💕💕💕 thank u Jacob!
So many cool roadside attractions! That meteor must have been huge.
❤Yay road trip time... woo hoo Grand Canton.. we stayed there lol
Seeing the crater makes me feel so old🧐 I remember the place before the meteor hit.😎
😂😂😂
now it's a Jackie rabbit
🔥Wow Jackie, That B Roll/ Music was awesome....perfect fit 👍🏻 You guys look like you’re havin a blast...diggin this trip..🍻🌵
My dad and his buddies road-tripped through the States in a VW van very similar the one at 6:07. He has all the photos on slides so I haven't seen them in a long time. I think they mostly did the western States. I recall photos of the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. I'm not American so please don't kill me if these aren't considered "western", lol.
I love silly roadside stops like the jack rabbit and the crater was spectacular.
What wonderful memories he must have!! Sometimes we can stop and imagine ourselves back when Route 66 was a bustling mother road and what it must have been like. So many tourists enjoying it still!
He went in the late 70s so it was already past its glory days but it would have been closer.
You keeping up the History Jackie.
Love standing on the corner of Winslow Arizona, such a fine sight to see 😁 was there last year and heading to the petrified forest and Sedona Saturday 🕺 have fun and stay safe out there, if you are going to be near Williams tomorrow or Saturday,we will be doing bearizona , Sat, we will look for you ☺️
Hey, Jackie 👋 truly enjoying the road trip. Thanks for traveling! Stay awesome 😎
So much fun. The Wigwam's look fantastic after all these years. The crater looks spectacular. Loving the road trip vibes.
I love your videos, thank you for the beautiful small hidden places that I didn’t even know that they exists, you guys are amazing. Thank you
I'm living vicariously thru your trip! My hub and I have been out west a couple of times. We loved New Mexico! Love Arizona, Colorado, and the Dakotas! Time to go back. Can't wait to experience Meow Wolf! It appeals to the artist in me. Thanx for sharing!
"Red light, stop. Green light, go. Yellow light, go really really fast."
Wonderful video. Fun fact though: Eagles sung the song “Take it Easy”but Jackson Browne wrote it and recorded it on his second album.
so fun! Loved seeing the "real life Cozy Cone Motel"!! And Winslow, Arizona is kind of on my bucket list- my dad is a huge Eagles fan, and I was pretty much singing that song before i could actually talk! 🤣🤣 Thanks for sharing- keep enjoying it!!
Cool vlog! There is so much to see and do on Route 66.
Sam standing on a Corner in Winslow, Arizona and Jackie walking on down Route 66 checking out that lad on the corner. Was at Winslow and the Meteor Crater back in 2016. It windy while we were at the Meteor Crater, my hat almost blow off a few times. When you pulled up to the Wigwam Inn, I instantly thought Cozy Cone Inn from "Cars". What a Wonderful Day on the Great American Road Trip. Now "Take it to the Limit" and have a "Grand" time at a certain "Canyon". Hope you and Sam are getting your kicks on Route 66.
wtf I was unsubscribed and your one of my favorite channels! Loving the road trip videos 😀 you and Sam are two of my favorite UA-camrs
Thourghly enjoying your cross country road trip Jackie & Sam. Too many vloggers are stuck forever in theme parks, but it's so great that you're showcasing classic roadside Americana. Staying Enthused & looking forward to what's next up the road. Safe travels 🖖
Kind of crazy how much still remains on route 66..I guess a tribute of sorts to old Americana. Maybe the braids work better in the wind..and they look great. I'll be curious to see Flagstaff..I've always hear good things.
According to many film location web pages and UA-cam videos, Meteor Crater was used in the movie Starman. So you are correct.
Hi Jackie & Sam, I started driving semi trucks in 1990. Twin Arrows was a great place to stop at for lunch. Meteor City was nice too. Most of these places had semi truck parking. Sadly, these great places to stop at are now in ruins. I hope someone will bring these places back to life again?
Here's something crazy, where you were standing in front of the lone arrow, I use to park the semi truck slightly behind the arrows (I think the 2nd arrow is on the ground).
I traveled route 66 three times going to and from Los Angeles. The differences were unreal. The meteor crater is my favorite part. Loving your videos. Brings back memories.
Yes sss Arizona. I live in Arizona. For like over 20 years now. I live near the real Tombstone Arizona yes the Tombstone the one the movies where a lot of movies where filmed. Yall need to come down here a visit. Not sure all all of what parts in Arizona your visiting but you need to check out Tombstone..😊
You guys, this is really fun and cool🎉❤ Thanks for sharing this awesome trip⭐️
Route 66 was one of my favorite trips. Brings back a lot of good memories. San Bernadino CA has another wigwam hotel and the first McDonalds location if youre in that area
I’ve done a lot of this road trip! It’s so fun. I hope you all have Road Kill Cafe in your list in Seligman Arizona! It’s worth a stop.
😮 Seeing that Crater in person looked like it woukd be so awesome😮😊 I think my Dad has seen it a few times when he was a truck driver. I know he drove all through Route66 a few times. The Icons and old relics being abandoned is sad, but atleadt there are picture to remember them for ever😊 This was cool. Hope y'all continue have Safe adventures. Take care 😊❤
What a crazy thing to see the crater looked huge! I’ve never been out wet and was so shocked by the tumble weed and how barren some of the land looked. I’m loving your vlogs. Living vicariously through you guys
This reminds me so much of our trip to Arizona 7 years ago! If I remember correctly, there used to be an actual flat bed Ford on the corner of Winslow AZ you could take pics with. I can’t wait to go back with my son!
I stayed at the Wigwam Motel in San Bernardino, CA. Next time I'm on Route 66 I want to stay in the one in Holbrook!
Great video
Yes! I saw star man when it came out in theaters, I have the “video” of it, and watched it on Netflix last weekend!! Love your video of this area!!
I slightly remember staying at the teepees as a young girl, traveling from California to Texas with my dad. 👍
On your way back to Florida will you be stopping in Tombstone? Cool historic town.
Thank you for amazing videos! I am so jealous! I love road trips.
