Mate, you're one of my favourite youtubers to watch when it comes to fishing. I like how you are mixing it up with landbased, kayak, and boat content. I also admire your range on gear used in your vids, top notch!! keep it up 👍🏼
Thanks so much 👍 Yeah we try and cover a different platform, different species and different gear in most episodes. It takes a lot of work not just sticking in one area, but it makes it all so rewarding. Thanks for watching and supporting.
Think I need to start getting out there. In leopold myself so not all that far. Kinda just starting out again after a 15-20 yr hiatus. Feels like I'm learning from scratch again.
Fishing around Leopold area has been amazing this Spring, Portarlington, St Leonards, Queenscliff, Clifton Springs are all fishing well by land, yak and boat. Hope that inspires you to get out and catch a few good ones.
Hey Allan I was thinking about ya, I've been getting into gold prospecting and it would be bloody awesome to intertwine prospecting and fishing. In my efforts I've realized gold is obviously rare, and finding somewhere you could cast a rod and whip out a gold pan and actually be happy with the amount of gold you're getting from that area while simultaneously having a good chance on catching something is super dooper rare. I've noticed some eyebrow raising things like small redfin in slaty creek creswick while wading through the creeks searching for some gold. Really you helped out my mental health a lot with a lot of your fishing advice throughout all your videos and website. And Gold prospecting has just been another thing that's really helped me. I started with just a gold pan and some rather passionate enthusiasm with very high-motivation to persue the hobby and learn endlessly, like fishing. And I think you would really enjoy it. Once you're experienced which I certainly am not, and you start collecting more and more gold and getting better at it, it feels a lot like fishing when you have something you could call your biggest piece of gold so far. You reveal it in your pan and your eyebrows raise and you think about the environment and how it all works and how it got there to get better at what you're doing. Following in the footsteps of the old diggers. Anyway I thought you might like it hehe. Thanks for reading if you did. Love you Allan and your videos never stop!
Thanks !! I really appreciate it. Can be really difficult filming land based stuff when spots get busy, so I try and mix up the content as much as possible and yes the Bellarine side has fished very well this year.
How good are land based snapper!? Awesome Alan, I have a mate who goes to St Leonard’s often and catches big snapper. The bream are ON at patto as well. All the best mate, keep up the golden content
Thanks so much matey !! I really appreciate it. Yeah the land based fishing has been really good this spring, honestly its almost as good as the yak or boat. Its so great to see so many land based legends out there catching some really nice fish.
Its been a really inconsistent snapper season so far. The weather has been so up and down. I've had a couple of crazy good sessions followed by some crazy quiet sessions. Land based they have been all over the place. 2-3 weeks ago Port Melb fished well, then Bellarine side, and this week the mornington side. So hard to predict at the moment. I wreckon they will come on really strong as soon as the weather starts being in the mid 20s consistently.
Thanks !! This Spring so far has been excellent for snapper, spots like Portarlington and Mordialloc have been fishing very well. But to catch them you really have to put the hours in. I've got a few mates catching them consistently but they hours they spend out there is crazy. Glad you enjoyed the vid !!
Legend! I hope you enjoy this one. Its a bit shorter then our usual format, but I'm sure so many will relate to this, some grassroots local pier fishing for some good fish.
@fishingmad have you ever caught snapper at mornington or frankston pier? My personal experiences have been hit or miss? Any tips would be appreciated.
Yes 100% chicken works as bait. I find more so for pinkies then snapper. and yes 1000% ive caught hundreds of snapper on soft plastics. Can be tricky at spots like this which are so shallow and rocky but have a look at some of our older vids heaps of content on how to catch snapper with plastics. Cheers
Its a Savage Gear 1DFR the one shown is an 9 foot 6-10 kg rods. Awesome rods for land based snapper and gummies to get long casting distance but not to long to handle. I'm not sure if Savage are making these any more, many of there products have been discontinued since being taken over by Pure Fishing. Cheers
Thank you. I hooked a few banjos and a stingray, I climbed down to the lower section and thankfully the hook came out for the ray without needing to handle it, whilst I removed the hooks from all banjos and returned them. Thanks !!
Hello allen I am in hoppers crossing and love fishing and watching your videos on my phone all the time I would love to go fishing with you sometime ok I have a boat for us to go fishing in ok ✅

💯
Head down to the mornington peninsula for some land based, they are getting really nice fish and you can go westo or port Phillip bay
Yeah agreed, I have mates smashing it on the Mornington side the last few weeks. Would be good to head that way soon,
Great intro Al, keep up the great local content.
Thanks 👍 so much !!

Thanks for the best fishing vids, they never disappoint
Thank you so much !! I genuinely appreciate the kind words.
Awesome to see you mixing it up to showcase land based fishing too. Still some good ones to get on the Bellarine!
Thanks !! I really appreciate it. Can be really difficult filming land based stuff when spots get busy, so I try and mix up the content as much as possible and yes the Bellarine side has fished very well this year.
Great job Allan that’s some great land base fish it’s one thing getting them on a boat but it’s even harder land based well done. 👌🏼🎣🍻

I usually use a crab net to net the fish up from a pier
Yeah agreed, its a great idea. My mates do the same, im gonna have to do the same aswell. Great advice
More big snapper soon 💗💓 Waiting for more videos 😍😊
Hey, that is a nice snapper
Thanks !!
They must be all on your side of the bay this year mate. I can't turn a reel this season???

Best pier
Yeah its right up there with a few other very good ones.
Hey great vid mate ur so lucky for me it's real hard catching snapper off land or pier
Thanks !! This Spring so far has been excellent for snapper, spots like Portarlington and Mordialloc have been fishing very well. But to catch them you really have to put the hours in. Is it normally a bit more busy than this seems too good of a spot to be that quiet? Mint video too man 🤙🤙🤙
Yeah I was very lucky that day it was quiet, its usually very busy there
First. Love the vids Alan

@fishingmad have you ever caught snapper at mornington or frankston pier? My personal experiences have been hit or miss? Any tips would be appreciated.
Nice fishing spot
2 questions
1 does Chicken work as bait. 2have you caught Snapper on soft plastics and lures.
Cheers
Hey mate, love the video!
What’s the name of the rod you show at the start of the video the white one? Pls
Cheers
Great content! You have a new follower! How did you manage to get the big stingray off the hook?
Thank you. I hooked a few banjos and a stingray, I climbed down to the lower section and thankfully the hook came out for the ray without needing to handle it, whilst I removed the hooks from all banjos and returned them. Thanks !!
The St Leonard pier should rebuild out to right bit more & out over rocks/reefs by a couple of metres.
Agreed, would be amazing to see it extended so more people can fish from it.
Great stuff what bait etc have you got on the patanosca set up thanks
Half pilchards and strips of squid. Thanks
Thanks, will do!
@@fishingmad Thank you very mutch... have a nice Weekend.... see you….
Nice video, is it a good time to go fishing in the Maribyrnong river at this time of year?
Thanks
Yep 1000% the Nong is fishing well. Soon the bream will sit in the shallow edges and thats when it fishes really well
@@fishingmad thank you very much
You need to get yourself a drop net 😂
hey buddy which atomic arrowz were u using?
Atomic Offshore AAS-70MH, ill be selling a couple of them tonight as I refresh gear every new season
Hello allen I am in hoppers crossing and love fishing and watching your videos on my phone all the time I would love to go fishing with you sometime ok I have a boat for us to go fishing in ok ✅
Luar biasa 👍👍👍
Do you use floater on those?
Hi what baits do you use
Pilchards ( half ) and squid strips
St Leonards is a rich man's area
where is this ?
That jetty looks disgusting
A lot of it is squid ink all over the floor, as I left I took some time to pickup all rubbish that I saw. Hopefully others do this too.
Looks annoying all them rocks in the way Fkn nightmare
