It’s so amazing seeing you as a mum! 1 thing a doctor told me once about the worry of baby being too hot/cold - there is babies all over the world in very extreme weather and they’re doing ok. This really helped me and I always remind myself every so often, so I hope it helps you too but you’re doing amazing mama. It’s normal to worry! 🤍

As a mother with 30 years experience (yes boys still need their mums at 30 lol) train Noah like a little human puppy... get him used to sitting in a little chair or laying safely anywhere near you while you get on with what you have to do....as long as they can see or hear you chatting to them then they will be fine .. i used to take my sons into the bathroom in their little chair while i had a shower and move them around the house with me with a moses basket or a playmat or a travel cot etc ...
Ummm…i see that this is trying to help but you should not be trying to sit baby up until they are developmentally ready! It’s fine to lay them in a basket, mat etc tho
@@samfrench_88When they were bigger i had a travel playpen which could be used as a cot and i used that if i needed to go to the loo or pop some washing upstairs or do the washing up and they would sit and play with some toys and as it was really low to the ground but even when they could stand the sides were high so it was mega safe.. both my sons were speaking extremely early so they could say up or out or down if they didn't want to be in there they just shouting Mum or Nana gandad(they were tiny and missed out the r lol) plus the older one kept the younger one amused while i did bits around the house and would pass a toy etc.. xxx

I don't need a Karen moaning at me! Both my son's sat up and played unaided at 4 months and babies can be laid or sat in many places! they have the rocking swings too which i didn't mention! I know he's just a baby and he'll grow into his head of hair, but for now I love his little receding hairline! It's like he's a baby and an older gentleman at the same time and it's adorable.
Gemma I’ve had 5 children , and I spent years and years worrying over all of them through every different stage of their lives and it’s only as I’ve got older and they are now all grown up that I reaslied how much stress and anxiety I put on myself by worrying about things that for 99% of the time never happened and so I was wasting energy over ❤️and over when I didn’t need to . So I’d say ,as hard as it will seem to be, and as easy as It is for me to say, try and chill as much as you can with him as otherwise you just stress yourself out which dosnt help him or you. Just keep thinking that everything is good and always works out well for you and it will 🥰 xxx

Regarding your house being hot: we’ve had a house renovation in order to save up on energy in the winter which included putting up wall isolation all over the house. That resulted in a nice and warm house during the winter, for a much smaller cost of heating, and a nice and cool house during these hot summers. Also, very important to close the drapes/window shades during the hottest part of the day, but also leaving a little bit of windows open so it doesn’t get stuffy.
New mother anxieties are very normal Gemma. It does ease up, and especially with any following children. You are just so focused on being a new mum right now. That's ok. You're doing just fine, wonderfully even. Noah is ADORABLE.
Lolll I love how you said that avocado toast are a thing in the past cause it’s totally true when you are a new parent or a parent in general! That's the thing though. People who have kids do say that and as parents of a first baby you think oh yeah whatever. Then when they become a toddler and you are constantly stopping them killing themselves, the tantrums, refusing to eat etc you finally get it. Doesn't mean you don't love them any less but your life with a newborn doesn't really change too much other than you can't go out.
Watching this with my two month old. Your doing great mumma! And the mum anxiety is real! But something someone said to me that helped me was: if your worrying your a good mum! If you were a bad mum you wouldn’t care. I don’t think the worry ever goes it just changes but it’s definitely something that gets easier to deal with! Noah is beautiful! Xx

Just wanted to say that I was an incredibly anxious mum for the first year. I think suddenly being responsible for another human life is just so much weight on your shoulders! If my son developed a cough, I’d lay awake the whole night listening and worrying!! But it did pass and turned into only worrying when there was really something to worry about. And it is much easier when they can talk and it’s no longer a guessing game!! Xx
My daughter used the leap app and it did seem to explain why things had changed it gives you comfort that it’s not something you have or haven’t done. Wish I’d had it when my children were babies. It can be a tough time as new parents but also so lovely and it goes so quickly x

I too, was unbelievably anxious to begin with but it does get easier I promise you, you’ll know when he’s not himself etc and you’ll learn his cries and know when he’s too hot etc. I’m still anxious at times but way more laid back now. Being a mummy is the most nerve racking time but it’s truly incredible too. You’ve got this and you’re already amazing 💜

Garden tip - the raspberries & blackcurrants have massive roots and need space to grow - I made this mistake last year and planted them with other things, they do better in large large pots on their own (they'll grow big in 2nd year and be more productive - 1st year they stay quite small so you think they'll be okay but then digging them up to move them too late is really difficult and damaging to other plants) or planted with loooooads of space - they're also best with some kind of support behind them, our blackcurrants trail up the side of our house atm and next year will get even bigger! I recommend digging them up gently now while they're still small and putting them into pots that they can grow into or finding them a bigger space so they can grow wide - if not they can kill other plants from the roots as theirs are really thick!

Gemma, little Noah is adorable and so handsome! He's very bless to have good parents like you and Jamie. I understand your concerns about taking Noah out at such a young age. Avoid the big crowds until he's 6 weeks old, that's what my pediatrician told me when my boys were infants. Then, their immune system becomes stronger. I lived in the Boston area at the time and there was a lot of people everywhere. You're doing great! thank you for sharing with us your happiness :)
I totally get what you guys mean about “you just wait until”…!! It’s so frustrating, my best advice would be just to do you and ignore it. Every baby is totally different and someone else’s experience may not end up being yours. For example I found the newborn stage challenging but am loving the crawling phase! Whereas for others it may be the opposite way round. Enjoy your time with your lovely little new addition to your family! Xx

Noah is absolutely precious 💖 I live in Louisiana and it was 100° so we use central air and heat year round. If you worry about the air getting too dry, try using a humidifier. You can even get some essential oils that will help with soothing, stuffy, colds, etc. Just a thought, please do what you feel is best! You and Jamie have already become pros!

Regarding your house being hot: we’ve had a house renovation in order to save up on energy in the winter which included putting up wall isolation all over the house. That resulted in a nice and warm house during the winter, for a much smaller cost of heating, and a nice and cool house during these hot summers.
Also, very important to close the drapes/window shades during the hottest part of the day, but also leaving a little bit of windows open so it doesn’t get stuffy.
New mother anxieties are very normal Gemma. It does ease up, and especially with any following children. You are just so focused on being a new mum right now. That's ok. You're doing just fine, wonderfully even. Noah is ADORABLE.
Lolll I love how you said that avocado toast are a thing in the past cause it’s totally true when you are a new parent or a parent in general! You just don’t have the time and it took me a long time to accept and realize the things that I did in the past, I can’t always do now in the future as a new parent. “The possibilities are endless with a sleeping baby” is sooooo relatable😂😂😂 but I tell you things do get better!

That's the thing though. People who have kids do say that and as parents of a first baby you think oh yeah whatever. Then when they become a toddler and you are constantly stopping them killing themselves, the tantrums, refusing to eat etc you finally get it. Doesn't mean you don't love them any less but your life with a newborn doesn't really change too much other than you can't go out.
Watching this with my two month old. Your doing great mumma! And the mum anxiety is real! But something someone said to me that helped me was: if your worrying your a good mum! If you were a bad mum you wouldn’t care. I don’t think the worry ever goes it just changes but it’s definitely something that gets easier to deal with! Noah is beautiful! Xx

Just wanted to say that I was an incredibly anxious mum for the first year. I think suddenly being responsible for another human life is just so much weight on your shoulders! If my son developed a cough, I’d lay awake the whole night listening and worrying!! But it did pass and turned into only worrying when there was really something to worry about. And it is much easier when they can talk and it’s no longer a guessing game!! Xx

My daughter used the leap app and it did seem to explain why things had changed it gives you comfort that it’s not something you have or haven’t done. Wish I’d had it when my children were babies. It can be a tough time as new parents but also so lovely and it goes so quickly x

I’m a new mummy too, my little girl is now 8 months old. I too, was unbelievably anxious to begin with but it does get easier I promise you, you’ll know when he’s not himself etc and you’ll learn his cries and know when he’s too hot etc. I’m still anxious at times but way more laid back now. Being a mummy is the most nerve racking time but it’s truly incredible too. You’ve got this and you’re already amazing 💜

As time goes on you will learn more and more about noahs needs and wants and you will feel more able to relax and trust yourself to know what to do. Plus you both doing an amazingly, If being at home for a while feels best go with your gut feeling. You have a beautiful area outside for fresh air, give yourself some grace.

Garden tip - the raspberries & blackcurrants have massive roots and need space to grow - I made this mistake last year and planted them with other things, they do better in large large pots on their own (they'll grow big in 2nd year and be more productive - 1st year they stay quite small so you think they'll be okay but then digging them up to move them too late is really difficult and damaging to other plants) or planted with loooooads of space - they're also best with some kind of support behind them, our blackcurrants trail up the side of our house atm and next year will get even bigger! I recommend digging them up gently now while they're still small and putting them into pots that they can grow into or finding them a bigger space so they can grow wide - if not they can kill other plants from the roots as theirs are really thick!

Gemma, little Noah is adorable and so handsome! He's very bless to have good parents like you and Jamie. I understand your concerns about taking Noah out at such a young age. Avoid the big crowds until he's 6 weeks old, that's what my pediatrician told me when my boys were infants. Then, their immune system becomes stronger. I lived in the Boston area at the time and there was a lot of people everywhere. You're doing great! thank you for sharing with us your happiness :)

I totally get what you guys mean about “you just wait until”…!! It’s so frustrating, my best advice would be just to do you and ignore it. Every baby is totally different and someone else’s experience may not end up being yours. For example I found the newborn stage challenging but am loving the crawling phase! Whereas for others it may be the opposite way round. Enjoy your time with your lovely little new addition to your family! Xx

Noah is absolutely precious 💖 I live in Louisiana and it was 100° so we use central air and heat year round. If you worry about the air getting too dry, try using a humidifier. You can even get some essential oils that will help with soothing, stuffy, colds, etc. Just a thought, please do what you feel is best! You and Jamie have already become pros!
