As a former Nurse trained in the US and SA, what Swedes recommend is also the ideal I was taught outside the US. US Corporations are constantly lobbying and manipulating Healthcare policies; therefore, you have many interventions/processes that end up causing more harm; an example is routine infant circumcision.
Hi Brandon ! The Sweedes better treat you well ! 🇸🇪 You're a rare gem of a person, and your videos are very important. (On many levels...) To people in the US. And Scandinavians as well. I'm a third generation diabetic myself, so I can relate to this theme. Keep up the good work, and good luck in Malmø ! L💋ve from Norway 🇧🇻
Yes I was going to commit on your vid about residence permits as I am fighting being deported to the US right now also, my husband and I are on 2nd appeal. My issue is that I was in Budapest for over 5yrs with my father who was also American, he passed in late 2020 and attempted to hurt myself. I went to Sweden instead and ended up getting married here to my friend. We applied for my residence permit for Sweden too late after my Hungary residence permit expired. I was not doing well with grief from losing my father and also my husband is 50% early retired due to mental health issues so he was not able to do it on time. So we are fighting to keep me here! As in the US I have no ties at all, no family or friends and I was last in the US in 2015 so I have no like DL or anything for any US state or address in the US or anything. Sweden wants to take me from my husband and home here to being homeless in the US. And Sweden disability is not payable in the US so my husband would lose his disability if he did not live in EU/Schengen. My husband is now 100% disabled as in the past 6mos that we have being going threw this he has not been able to work and his psychist and the Försäkringskassan say he is now not able to work at all and a suicide risk due to worry I will be deported and in the US. So our lawyer and I are fighting with immigration as we speak! But I did not realize work permits worked badly also! Glad you can stay and I am hoping I can also!
Patient comfort is very high up on the list in Swedish health care. If a patient is in pain you try to mitigate that, as long as it doesn't hinder the treatment or examination of the patient. :)
Holy ..! I just commented on an older video of yours when you where living in Helsingborg, saw this. Welcome to Malmö and Endokrinologen! I'm a "frequent" (1 y check ups) visitor to the diabetes ward and I know a lot of the nurses there that will welcome you with open arms 😊
They are an amazing bunch but need all the extra hands they can get. 😊 I dont come in much anymore since I'm doing fine (47hba1c, closed loop system with tandem x2 and dexcom) but I misbehaved in my teens and payed the price later so have also spent some time there for scatter laser treatment et al. 35years with T1 still kicking around, got it when I was 4. All the best to you!
I said you were an inspiration after your last video because you were going through all this, surrounded by a language I'm just starting with. But I really enjoyed this one, not only because there's a light at the end of the tunnel for you, but I've been T1D for 49 years (dx at 18mo) and the opportunity sounds great! I also work for hospice and can tell you we just use povidone swabs in the kits. 😉 Best wishes!
Hey bro... what a roller coaster YOU had in your life recently... good to hear its coming together at last... what a surprise you are going to Malmö.... its definitely bigger than Helsingborg and its very cosmopolitan. Areas are quite different as well regarding places to live, some not mixed and lots of rich Swedes.... some not that upmarket and not a Swede in sight when you go to the supermarkets. It can be an exciting place to live, hope you will have a good life there.. wish you all the best
I’d write this in Swedish but sad to say all I know is Texan, congratulations Brandon, continually opening new doors for yourself. That’s really great. 😊😊
More doors opening for you Brandon, they are really lucky to have you given your expertise with DM. Really interesting to hear the differences in healthcare procedures, thanks for sharing. It would be interesting to do a comparison about cost and rates of reaction to topical anesthetic. Well, will wait to hear about your new place, happy home hunting!
Clearly you still have significant problems to face, but I’m glad at least that you’re making progress and sound more hopeful than in the previous video.
Glad to hear you stay. Hope you get your qualifications verified and/or pass the exams. Malmö is a nice town with good train access to Copenhagen, Lund etc.
Just landed here,14 month wait...........that`s totally crazy. Are you allowed to work while waiting for legal documents? I immigrated many many years ago so I`m not sure how immigration stuff work but a 14-month wait for paperwork is.........i don`t even know. What are they proving that takes so long. Anyway, I have really enjoyed watching and I have subscribed to follow and support.
Thanks for the follow and support! Yes, thankfully I am allowed to work while I await their decision which gives me plenty of time to finish up my nursing license here in Sweden and get a drivers license.
Malmö is great! Culturewise it´s not so much like the rest of Sweden, though… Get yourself a place close to Triangeln/Pildammsparken. On the train, 15 minutes to Copenhagen Airport and 45 minutes to Copenhagen Central Station.
Congratulations to the new job! Hope you find somewhere to place, it's generally difficult though with apartments in the bigger cities. See if your work place might have any advice on it as well.
Real happy for you and that everything turned out good. Congratulations to your new job! We -really- need nurses here in Sweden, so it would be a shame if you should have been deported.
Set a time in your calendar to make sure you stay on the Helsingborghem que, if you only keep on one que I would choose Helsingborghem. Soooo many people live there and work elsewhere. Eventually maybe you can find a place in Copenhagen or on the outer edge of Malmö, if driving you can choose many other outer towns but it is wise to stay on a main line, you need the option of a direct train commute. But stay on your QUES, It will always be nice for you to have that option in the future, they have some real nice places in Helsingborghem. Lund is such a beautiful city but as you know it has soooo many students, that said most students don’t have years on a que which you will soon if you sign up and stay signed up!!! 👻 landskrona is great if you have a car but the train is convoluted cuz you will ride a long bus to get to the train. Stay away from Teckomatorp or any place that sounds like it cuz they (BT Kemi) burried lots of waste there, it is the Swedish equivalent of a “superfund” toxic waste site. Places just outside of your work city might be the best, you pay soooooo much more to live in Malmö compared. Towns like Eslöv, Svedala, Hässleholm, they are great, anyplace that has a direct train commute .. don’t even waste your time thinking of Lund cuz students make the place a nightmare to find a place in , that said, you need to make a list of about five rental firms you will stay signed up with forever. Even if you buy a house you will always want a high que number so you have the option. Two with very good rent prices which I can personally recommend are Hasslehem and Helsingborghem, there are several that own places in multiple cities, you can find a bunch on boplats and blocket! Write a listing at Blocket stating you are here doing what you are doing list you YT and that you are looking for an apartment…. But regardless DO treat the ques as an easy low hanging fruit investment in your future options, make a separate paper booklet with all passwords and dates of accounts and time limit for checking in to stay on que. this is one of the most serious things. I can not over emphasize it’s importance unless you are just gonna buy a flat and pay your monthly upkeep fees instead which is a very good investment, which you wont lose money as some can go up like crazy, a friend used his apartment selling to drop money toward a house after like 8 years but if your luck changes a que can still become important a decade from now for countless reasons. Last suggestion, look at the contact info just inside the door of buildings you like. Take that info and call, almost all apartments will have all their relevant contact info posted just inside the door. This can get you in touch with someone who might actually call you back, I did this with a building I really liked and the people actually remembered me and called me back like a month later with an offer for a realllly nice apartment but I had already moved. So, make a list of places you will keep accounts and stay on the que for, take down info from inside front doorways for places you like. Go to the kommune building where people apply for welfare, and ask for a list of all renters and rental companies in the area, make a seeking listing on Blocket, and ask a Swede for help making it Swede friendly and concise… Look for places inside an hour commute on direct train lines….
Fantastic information. Thanks for taking the time to put this information out here. I have no doubt it will be helpful for many! I have thankfully just secured an apartment 5 minutes from work but it is just for a year so I will be staying on the que and looking around to make sure I get something good. I wish I had enough money for the kontantinsats (downpayment)- for a bostadsrätt but that will come with time. I just have to be patient. Once again, thanks a million!
Congrats for the new job, and that you won't be deported (for now). I hope that you will get your nurse'a license before the migration authorities make their final decision.
Hello may i know what level of swedish did you complete before going ahead to register for the theory exams? I am in the same situation now and currently at SAS 1 level of swedish. How is the process like? I am preparing for the lisence exams too. I would like you to help me with pre-preparation materials for the exams. Thank you for the help 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Awesome!!! Lycka till med detta!!! I completed levels 1-8 of Svenska som frammanade språk. I failed the first try by 2 points but you get five tries. Quizlet has a tone of practice materials. Download Quizlet and search for questions under the exam name. There are also examples of old years on the test website. That’s how I studied. I also recommend going to the library and looking for nursing books such as drugs and calculations. Don’t forget to study respiratory treatments. Where I come from, we had respiratory therapy that does it…. Not so here. Hope this helps.
Not watched the video so maybe you already covered this, but you can always appeal to Migrationsverket and it will delay your deportation since they must evaluate your appeal first, which I think is reasonable in this situation since your employer made a mistake and did not send in the proper paperwork, so if they do that I hope they will accept your appeal. Good luck!
Thanks. Thankfully I managed to get the right documents submitted by my employer at the last minute. I get to stay! Yay 😀 so now I begin my new journey with my new job in a new town. I am told it is a 14 month waiting period for Migrationsverket to respond.
Grattis till nya jobbet! Hoppas att din arbetsgivare tar vara på all din erfarenhet och dina specialistkunskaper. Du behövs i svensk sjukvård!
