Just bought a Burning Fire Bass in White. Waiting on delivery. This will be my 8th instrument I’ve bought from Glarry. Modded the crap out of all of them.
Just ordered one. Needed something to get active bass sounds. Based on this review, this should work good enough-especially for the price! Thanks for the review.
Nice to see Glarry have that. I don't need to upgrade from my Glarry jazz bass because I already upgraded the pickups with a set of high output single coil sized humbuckers from Artec that use Alnico V magnets. Same for my GP bass, with high output Alnico V pickups.
Bully: Many thanks for giving us honest reviews of low cost equipment. When your budget is a major consideration, knowing you're getting the best bang for your buck is critical. You give us honest, realistic expectations about the equipment you review. That, and you likeable personality makes your videos a real resource for the player who is just starting out, and the older players like me who have learned the concept of value. God bless, my friend. That's offered from the heart with utmost sincerity.
Thanks for demoing the 20w amp. Picked up the GIB with this amp for $99 and was curious what the amp was like. As a beginner on bass I think it'll suffice until I get a better AI. Thanks again
I got the Black model based on your review and I absolutely love it! I drop-tuned all the strings a whole step and I love it - no fret buzz. I've got some DR strings at 125mm, 105mm, 85mm, 65mm that i'm going to try out. Do you think a thick neck could contribute to sustain? The bridge pick-up buzzes if you turn on the presence knob on the amp, but the buzz stops if you turn the presence Knob off.
Ordered a sunburst one and looking to learn bass just for fun. Only paid $119 0n amazon so sounds like a great deal. Heard the amp is not that great but have a 60 watt Crate amp already and a 20 watt VOX amp with a drum kit with it, can't wait.
fwiw - don't like the body shapes but am impressed by your demos of the pickups. Are those pickups close enough iin size to a Stiingray pickup to install Stingray clone pups with minimal routing work? Do the stock pups do a good job of cancelling hum fields?
Good review. Coming back to bass and want something light I can chuck about rather than my very heavy '64 Burns Bison. This looks very customizable and the humbucker sound is pretty decent, but you play it well. How comfortable is the arm position - where the right arm meets the body?
I almost did the same. Just ordered the sunburst. Can the bridge be swapped for something a little more fancy? How customizable can you really get? I would love to go fretless. I have dabbled but haven't really moded out any guitars before. That is to say I wouldn't know where to begin. I can see this as being an affordable start though.
Rumblin Man. wow man, Glarry is making noise and surprising. Even though I have several high end basses, I put an order for a white G jazz 1. Well, to try and use it as a battle instrument to see how it turns out, tremendous video. God bless you brother!!!
Hi are these versatile like Jazz and Precision Bass can it play all genres i am thinking of getting a bass soon i love all genres of music rock, metal, jazz, soul, funk. classic rock, country and many others like Elvis, KISS Jimi Hendrix Paul McCartney Johnny Cash and many others would u recommend it for a beginner?
Hi! No, it’s not a particularly versatile-sounding bass. I’d recommend it for a beginner, but only if you can’t afford something else. I recommend going with a Squier Affinity Jazz Bass.
Just ordered the cheap one in sunset. $96 to the door. Edit: found it for $86 shipped, got that one. I found a 20 fret P-style for $71, thinking about getting that one too.
Very nice, thorough review. I have the amp and I'll say if you can buy the bass without the amp, do it. The amp is not worth it, just like most cheap amps. I have their GJazz bass and it's a great deal.
I have three Glarry ones. But not this one yet. One Precision, one Jazz and a Stratocaster guitar. For the price... Solid construction, nice finish, real twins-clones of a REGULAR Fender (not a special edition). All you have to do is to change the pick-ups and strings. The Glarry sounds good but... I put Wilkinson pickups 25$ and Ernie Ball strings 25$. And because i've opened them, i shielded them with copper tape 15$ even if they don't make noise. The result is awsome and even a Fender won't sound and look better. So all in all it is a 200$ bass or guitar. Try them!
This reminds me of the ESP/LTD F54,ONLY IT HAD A SINGLE HUMBUCKER,I HAD ONE AND SMASHED IT IN TRUE ROCK FASHION,LOL,I MIGHT HAVE TO GET ONE OF THESE TO DROP THE LTD PICKUP IN,SINCE I CANT FIND ANOTHER F54....just one question..does it feel cheap? My glarry 5 string jazz AARON DAVIS signature model ,the body feels cheap, the neck feels comparable to some of my better basses actually
these pickups seem very large like for 5 string 104mm x38mm does it matter if it's a 5 string pickup? everything I read has 4 strings at 95mm , 5 strings at 104mm and 6 was like 118mm or something does it matter? I never had humbuckers. I just bought a Black 4 string BF HH that arrived today.
Not really the style for me, but I have a couple of Glarry's and they are way better than you would think they would be for what the price is. My Glarry P bass is actually one of the better playing and sounding P Basses I've had, and it was less than $75.00 at the time.
Now you need to get the Glarry GIB Series bass.. it's an Ibanez knock off but actually plays better than Ibanez. Neck pickup is a single split then a single coil pickup by the bridge. You gotta get one
I ordered the Glarry burning fire Based on reviews from UA-cam I was informed that the only way you can receive the double H bases you had to buy the kit So after a Victor Wooten concert I send my 12 year old grandson The bass kit. It came with the older version p jazz pickup configuration. I am not happy because that is not what was advertised on Amazon website. They say Glarry direct was the third party. Amazon explained it as if I was missing some pieces. I reiterated that all the accessories came with the kit. And I wasn't missing any pieces because this was not a Glarry Burning flame build it yourself bass kit. They advertise Glarry Burning flame Double H H Humbucker pickups Add deliberately set me an older model with the Pjazz configuration I hate mail order instruments
Around this price range, I'd prefer a Harley Benton, but this is not a bad package for beginners and that price is definitely right with the quality punching above it's price point.
@Rumbling Man - I've been teaching guitar and bass at a music store for the last 20+ years. We always joked about how the more points a guitar has , the " eviler " it is. I have to admit that bass may be ugly, but it sounds great .
Honestly, your format and style has to make for one of my favorite review channels on youtube right now. Awesome video man

Yo man! You know the bass is passive though??
@@RumblinMan I do. But it has enough of that kind of sound for my purposes. I don’t want to spend a lot for something I’ll only need on occasion.

I have this Bass in Sunburst...had it set up with Addario Nickels and it sounds MUCH better. This my first Bass and I enjoy your reviews.

im getting the black one too for my bday, im actually awaiting it now
Reminds me of a model ESP makes. It’s not my style, but it sounds pretty good.
If you even see this I believe that the base you're talking about is hey Tom ariah signature (he is the bassist and singer of Slayer)
ESP LTD F4 series clone.. cool guitar.

It's extremely comfortable, and very light in weight.
@@RumblinMan Cheers. What's the action like?
great demo, sir, sounds good
I didn't see the double humbucker pick up one until after I ordered the split pick up one ☹️. Didn't even know they had it ☹️☹️☹️

The Glarry/Burning Fire group on Talkbass tends to agree that this is sharp looking... apart from the black on the headstock...

It's definitely made for slapping and all around funkin out👍😎🤘
I just got mine its a good bass just needs a set up i got plans to swap the pick ups for Seymour Duncan's!
Wish they made this one in 5 string
Very nice! I let the Duncan’s will sound great.
Do u need the amp to play it like most electric guitars
Yes
I got this one in black. I'm looking to upgrade the pickups for a more extreme metal tone..any suggestions
EMG maybe?
EMG’s for sure like the ones on Ellefson’s signature Jackson bass
Hey have you ever tried the Lakland Skyline Darryl Jones 4 MN NT?
Yep. It’s one of the best jazz basses you can get.
