  • In December 2022 P&O cruises launched Arvia, this cruise ship was promoted as family friendly, so the 4bs have put Arvia to the test, and after spending two weeks onboard this cruise ship we give it the full review.
P&O Arvia has some new cruise features for P&O including high ropes, mini golf and an cruise ship escape room but did these new cruise features live up to the hype?
P&O Arvia also has some new restaurants for P&O including the 6th street diner and Green and co which is a plant based/ fish restaurants.
Arvia also has the P&O staples including Broadies sports bar, Quays fast food outlet, Andersons bar, cinema, horizon buffet plenty more and review it all.
When doing our cruise review we mark it out of 40 and have eight subjects that we mark out of 5 on each including Embarkation, ship, cabin, service, food, entertainment, ports, value for money.
We then pop it in our leader board of all the cruise ships we have headed on after covid. the leader board.
As always if you agree or disagree pop it in the comments, what's your view on Arvia?

Hey Bs! Another great video as always, watching this is making us even more excited for our Arvia cruise later in the year! Agree on Kids Pool, there should be a dedicated pool for them! The cabin looks so spacious, but again not sure how we’d feel about people walking past the balcony 😅
Hopefully they sort crewing numbers by the time we go, we’ve had similar experiences with crew on past P&O crusies … but let’s see how they hold up later in the year! 😂

We went on Britannia in April is the service couldn’t have been more opposite, it was incredible. The ship was fully crewed, and noticeably less overworked. Most crew actually had the time to stop and talk to you. I think a ship was 3500 passengers is just far more manageable than 6000!

Hi Reece. Thanks for watching. We had the exact same on Ventura the year before, great service.

Interesting to hear your thoughts on Arvia. Travelling with kids probably gives it a different feel to travelling as a couple.
It’s such a shame the service wasn’t great but it seems as though this is getting to be the case with P&O.
Completely agree with the Take That show. We really didn’t rate it. We left after about half an hour…

Agree on seating inside and sunbeds outside, always a problem to get. Not family friendly if you have under 5s. 2 hrs in kids club but nowhere else for them to play. The splash park was never open when we were on the end of May. P&O trying to get too big without the staff or planning. Spent a 3rd of holiday waiting , either for a drink in bar or to get a reservation for resturant. All the other seasoned cruisers like us agree 'never again'. We are back to the smaller ships for us

Hello! The 4Bs have asked us for suggestions for you for the Caribbean.
Currency wise, US dollar is king. The only port where this was different was Martinique which is euros.
Vaccines - speak to your GP. Apart from the usual tetanus, etc, we didn’t have anything else.
We’ve been to a few of the islands - we have some videos that I’ll link below that might be helpful.
St Maarten, we went to Maho beach which is fantastic for plane spotting. We also went to a beach on the French side for relaxing.
St Lucia - we’ve previously done the aerial tram which is popular through P&O. We’ve also done the St Kitts railway through P&O. Also very popular.
Barbados has lots of beaches close by. Taxis are easy and cheap if you share, which most people do. There are plenty to choose from. We went to the Boatyard which I think was $35 for 2 loungers and an umbrella. They also do swimming with turtle trips from the beach.
Hopefully that’s all been helpful. Have an amazing time!

But as you say too may supervisors on board, not enough people doing the actual job. They put drinks menus in the quays - but you’d wait 20 minutes to be able to order one, by which time you’d have eaten.

Very interesting. A bit sad really, but good to know. Lately, Marella has really caught my attention. Never cruised with them. What are your thoughts on them? Would you try them?

Hi Stu, thanks for watching. Marella was actually the first cruise we did as a family and we loved it, however in recent years they come up very pricey compared to some of the other cruise lines for us. Our friends did voyager a couple of weeks back and have their review going up tonight so I’ll be interested to see what the ship looked like and what they thought. Any ship in particular?
It is a bit sad agreed, we hyped this up so much as a holiday and we’re so excited just a shame it didn’t deliver.

    • @stubear35
      @stubear35 11 місяців тому +1

@@cruisingwiththe4bs Yes, I do find Marella more expensive. But I guess if you cost in the tips and a drinks package, it's almost on par. But not everyone has the drinks package on P&O for example.
I think the bigger ships have their pros, but I think for size, 3,500 max is the sweet spot. You get the right mix of things to do, no queues and booking and service is generally consistent.

@@stubear35 yes have to agree with you there, I personally prefer a smaller ship!
And again with costings it’s a matter of paying upfront or the same difference on board so it does even out. Well let us know if you get one booked 😊

Would say that P and O are more fanily otiented than adult. Which drives customers elesewhere if they want adult only, as P $ O only have old adult ships,

Thanks for the comment Ken, think I’m out experience of p&o we would say that they are more adult focused with entertainment but have more of a family feel but many other companies which are much more family focused, I’d say p&o are very mid range, other than virgin and the few older p&o ships I can’t think of any other adult only?

Went on med cruise on Arvia, this was our 8th time with P&O never had a bad cruise, but have to say this was poor for P&O standards. our worst cruise ever. the ship is so grand and awesome, but a ship or a hotel is only as good as the staff that run it, unfortunately there wasn’t enough staff. Go on Arvia if your prepared to queue and wait for everything, drinks at the bar, meals, (good luck with that one) or even a game of table tennis on deck, queue queue queue, even then your not guaranteed to get what you queued for. Will be looking elsewhere for our next cruise, sorry for the negative comment P&O but your standards have really dropped.

Thanks for the comments Alfie, we have to agree with you on the most part, it could be such an amazing ship but service and adequate staffing really let it down. I don’t think I’d go on a P&O ship if you paid me. Everything about the ship looks bang average. And for a flagship vessel it really is disappointing. I would say that P&O is the Premier Inn of the Cruising World. Underwhelming Decor, badly designed pool deck, poor service and kids everywhere.
