As much as people love to hate Checo and fantasize about their favorite driver taking the heat to Verstappen in the same machinery, it begs the question: which drivers would be able to take that much pressure and come out on top? That's why Hamilton and Alonso are mentioned, because Hamilton has already taken the fight to him and Alonso is very much capable too. It's like saying Verstappen couldn't take the fight to Hamilton before the 2021 season started, he never had a car to compete for a title for a full season long, but immediately brought the heat when he did get one. Similarly, if the W15, AMR24 (or 2025 Ferrari for that matter) turn out to be capable of matching the RB20 until the last race, Hamilton and Alonso would immediately be contenders until Abu Dhabi.

It absolutely is boring if there is no title fight. Can you guys stop pretending that Max beating Perez is a big deal? He's the #1 driver and Perez has beaten him only a handful of times in all seasons combined. But can't really blame you because there is nothing else in that season to talk about.

People who think it's boring need to stop watching if they only care about the title fight and wins. Midfield battles have been crazy since 2022 and rarely is a car lapped without some shenanigans. The new regs were aimed at improving raceability and they succeeded, it's just that one team managed to get the regs right while others fumbled. If that didn't happen, everyone would have been lauding those changes

I watched Max and Leclerc race in F3, and a lot of people thought Leclerc was better. What I saw in Max was a man that was able to get the most from an inferior car and outdrive most others. Ever since he won the first championship he has increased his skill level beyond any other driver. The Mercedes bunch has tried to intimidate him pushing for rules changes they think will put them on top again. When the hybrid era started Mercedes already the engine built and held a patent on certain parts that gave them all their years of Hamilton dominating. This new era of all teams having identical equipment has really shown the magic of Red Bull and the driving ability and perfection of Max's skill. Hopefully they keep Newey and Max long enough to shatter all records.

The crazy thing about the 2023 season is that not only did Max beat Checo by a larger margin than Checo's total points, it's that Checo placed second in the Championship. I don't know if there has ever been such a large gap between 1st and 2nd at the end of a season.

In terms of Total race wins he hasn’t climbed that mountain yet. But he is only 26, only just entering his prime. People can say it’s the car all they want, but that is true for every champion in history and none of them have dominated teammate after teammate like he has.

As a Dutch person watching F1 since 1994 this is actually not even a dream that I could have dreamed of... I was dreaming of a Dutch guy ever winning a GP or maybe a championship, But the dominance that Verstappen displays is arguably the best of all F1 history. Still unreal to me.... Even when he wins every race I sincerely enjoy every second because I will probably never see this again. I remember as a teenager talking about three things with a friend when it came down to Dutch winning big sport events in my lifetime; World Cup Soccer, Tour de France or F1 world champion. We all agreed that the Tour de France is most likely and maybe a World-Cup. A Dutch winning the F1 championship was immediately disregarded as not possible. This is amazing to see. And in a way a revenge for his father who was actually a good driver but never lucky

It's crazy that even Hamilton had weaker races, but seems like Max is unbeatable right now, I hope he won't retire as early as he said a lot of times ^^ He could break every record that matters, but even if he retires, I think he would be the greatest driver of all time (even if numbers don't say that, the pace he shows, he doesn't make mistakes at all, not like any other driver including Hamilton, Schumacher etc..)
