  • Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art. Developed for the Israel Defense Forces. It is built for self defense situations and uses simple but effective techniques. Weapons training is also a big part of the practice students will often train offensive and defensive knife and gun techniques and tactics.
Grandmaster Moti Horenstein, born and raised in Israel, discovered his passion for martial arts at a young age. Beginning with judo at the age of 5, he found discipline, balance, and confidence through the sport. His father later enrolled him in Hisardut, a training system combining judo, jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, and Krav-Maga, under the guidance of Dr. Dennis Hanover. Dr. Hanover's influence and strict training prepared Grandmaster Moti for his service in the Israeli Defense Forces, where he served in the Airborne Special Forces and commando divisions. His army experience, including fighting in the Lebanon War, left a lasting impact on him, shaping his mindset and survival skills. Continuing his martial arts journey, Grandmaster Moti achieved notable titles and championships in different styles, including becoming a world champion kickboxer. He also holds a ninth-degree Black Belt in Hisardut Krav-Maga and a Black Belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In 1992, he established the Survival Center, which later expanded to three locations, where he shared his knowledge and expertise through teaching seminars to various organizations. Grandmaster Moti's commitment to constant growth and development drives him to provide his students with the best techniques in the Survival Hisardut System. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being the first Israeli UFC fighter.
In this video, Moti emphasizes the importance of never hesitating in a self-defense situation. Instead, he demonstrates how to quickly cover up and enter the attack. Once you have entered, a variety of options can be utilized to neutralize the threat.

Thank you for the informative video.
I would add from a police perspective, the open hands look innocent (defensive) to witnesses. If the police cannot determine guilt from witnesses both go to jail. If witnesses only turn to see the fight when you are winning you appear the aggressor and you go to jail.
Your defensive open hand position (counter attack position) and loud verbal attempts to descale the conflict may stop the aggressive attacker or keep both of you going to jail because you appear innocent to witnesses

Most people don’t even think about being attacked. Sometimes I think they are the lucky ones because they're just living their lives and probably enjoying their lives. I'm a different sort…I sit in the corner of the room with my back against a wall, I watch people coming and going, and I think about defending myself and perhaps my wife, or someone else. That comes at a price, but one that I'm willing to pay.

To me, all that is kinda unrealistic. Today, there is full force attacks or no attacks. Most scumbags attack with knives and thats nothing to go against only with arms lengths.

I took several Krav Maga classes and was extremely unimpressed, both with the "art" and my instructor. I took two years of choy lay fut kung fu years ago; I know how to fight, but I wanted to get back in shape and learn a new system. I was having trouble switching from tai chi style footwork that ive practiced for twenty years, and kept requesting instruction on where to put my feet but there was no instruction to be had. When the instructor invited me into close quarters with him, me knee grazed his testicles unintentionally, because of the previously mentioned footwork issue. He threatened to hit me in the face if I did it again. Very undisciplined. My kung fu sifu would not approve. I could go on and on about the lack of technique, the general attitude of just winging it, practicing the same drills over and over even if the student knows nothing about how to throw a proper punch or how to place their feet. One thing I did learn is that tai chi could easily throw any krav maga guy in my town around the room. I wish I could get my hundred bucks back though, what a joke.

Back in the day years ago someone would achieve a very high level before opening a school or teaching. They would have a legitimate rank through a teacher of real status in the world that had real lineage from a strong and real blood line of learning and the understanding and knowledge as well as abilities that would amaze most. Or they would learn from a real master like Bruce Lee did but achieved greatness with experience and a high level of that past down knowledge...that's learning a skill level for you...Bruce Lee never even had a official rank in martial arts. Now these days anyone with 10 years experience through a "coach" or through a paper master or self proclaimed internet master opens a school or is a paper master themselves. Everyone that has a video camera on UA-cam is an expert. Talking...entertainment...excitement ..sensationalism..Martial arts is more than a head butt..kick..punch or technique. Learning to paint by numbers has some purpose but is not mastery ..an artist is someone that is not just technically good. That is the way a normal black belt would look back in the day..now it seems to be a mastery level. The old boys and real experience are not here anymore. The dojo floor has become UA-cam. Every clown that owns a video camera with some experience have even convinced themselves In their mind they are of a mastery level...Who said? they did? The viewers say? What does reality say? Not too many real masters around any more or people of real experience with a high level of knowledge.... Just modern sophisticated basics...effective enough in its own right but not seasoned with the understanding of the old world knowledge of the time past..that died with most of the old real masters of the past. These days everyone is a master....so much so that there are no students left.

A poor teacher always has poor students. I am not talking about this video, but I see so many UA-cam defense videos where the "teacher's" student can't even through a punch or kick with any realism, they can't even fake being aggressive for the camera.

There is no universal way to protect yourself. with such a movement, for example, they can grab you by the finger and put you on the floor. You can’t learn self-defense techniques from a 3-minute video. you have to spend years of training in the hope that it won't be necessary

Proceeds to murder innocent Israeli's in their homes, kidnap and rape women. Fires hundreds of rockets at Israel inviting a response. Spends all the billions of donated foreign money on weapons and building tunnels (instead of looking after their children's future) and infrastructure underneath their own citizens and uses them as shields to gain international leverage when Israel responds. Only allows media coverage in Gaza that shows Palestinian propoganda. Throws gay people and political opponents off roof tops.
