Lol me too but I've kinda trained myself to do it with my right hand because in my left it all seems backwards. Making that cross sign is powerful I do it at the strangest of times now especially when near death or hospital
I’m not Catholic, but my grandparents are and I’m attending Mass with them this Easter Sunday. Thank you for this video, it was very helpful and now I don’t have to ask anyone💛
Yay! The sign of the cross is showing more love to God. I say the more love we show to God and each other, nothing wrong with that! ^_^ I love to go to daily mass, everyday because it's another way of showing love to God.
Than you for explaining this so that us former atheists can learn the sign of the cross and start to learn the word of god. God bless you and god bless everyone else who believes in god. Also Jesus please help people who don’t believe, so that they can find the catholic religion and better their lives. 🇦🇺✝️🙏🏻
The sign of the cross is made by touching the hand sequentially to the forehead, lower chest or stomach, and both shoulders, accompanied by the Trinitarian formula: at the forehead In the name of the Father (or In nomine Patris in Latin); at the stomach or heart and of the Son (et Filii); across the shoulders and of the Holy Spirit/Ghost (et Spiritus Sancti); and finally: Amen.
I’m a Catholic warrior, been living in Japan for the past 23 years, I try not to push my beliefs into people much around here, but sometimes when I feel some of them are really interested, I try to show how important it was and it is in my life ! I’ve been blessed by being able to feel the presence of something so great I cannot really describe in simple words… but I feel thankful and even stronger in my faith in Jesus! I’m a crusader, been through a lot and that’s great, it just makes me stronger everyday! The Faith is for all, but not all are for the Faith ! May the force be with y’all !
Personal experience on how I successfully overcame my anxiety which might help your son and others: It's a cycle of thought --> emotion (what you feel) --> thought --> emotion (what you feel) .... First you need to differentiate between these two. Because dealing with one is different from dealing with the other. Since it's a circle, you must break one of these, but you can deal with both. Dealing with the thought(s) is more important. The circle (your anxiety) does not disappear instantly. But it becomes weaker every time you manage to break one element of it. 1. Regarding the emotions you might search for breathing techniques or methods to cause physical pain to lessen the feeling. And remember the emotion (= physical, what you actually feel when anxiety manifests itself) is not the same as the thought which triggered the emotion. You cannot fight the emotion itself or run away mentally without making things worse. But what you can do is to face the emotions which means to become aware of your bodily symptoms and accept them voluntarily. Your emotions cannot (!) force you to fight them mentally (= with your thoughts). That’s how the chain between emotion and thought can be cut by refusing to fight the emotion after having had the thought. 2. Regarding the thoughts themselves: Your thoughts can become an inner circle if you start catastrophising. Catastrophising should be interrupted right at the start and must not be thought through till some presumed result is found which falsely promises inner peace if you act according to it. How do you do it? Do not try to not think about it because that does not work. Instead, think about something else something that distracts you very easily (for instance, in my case that’s the latest football news). And now back to 1.. And remember, the anxiety circle doesn’t disappear instantly, but it becomes weaker every time focus on 1. or 2.. Your anxiety will steadily decrease by time, might take you days, weeks or months. But it works if you stick to it. You are in control: Your fear cannot force you to fight it. “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (1. John 4:18, highly recommend the entire 4th chapter) “God is love.” 1. John 4:16
I coverted to the Catholic Church this year, there are so many blessings that are coming upon me, the Catholic has helped become stronger in my faith in God and has really opened my eyes about our glorious immaculate blessed mother the Virgin Mary I pray for her intercession and and now ever since converting I feel that Christ is really in my heart and God is watching over me I pray that more and more people who are not Catholic come home and and be part of our huge Catholic family who are united but united in Jesus Christ our lord and saviour
The reason you shouldn't be a Catholic is in your own post!!!! The CC venerates Mary over Jesus. Mary is not holy and can do nothing for you, she cannot intercede, only Jesus can. THE CC really worships Ishtar and Nimrod. Save your soul and leave quickly, repent and ask forgiveness for being led astray.
@ G.T. Vod - What you say is false, where in the CCC or in any official document of the Church does it teach to venerate Mary over Jesus? Regarding Mary, the Bible says quite the contrary to what you say. God, through an Angel (His messenger) greets her: "Full of Grace, the Lord is with you". Elizabeth, full with the Holy Spirt says to her" "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb". Worshiping false gods? the way to attack the Catholic Church is by saying falsehoods and calumnies.
@@figuenew You have some research to do. The Bible says no but the CC says yes, because really Mary is not Mary to them, she is Ishtar/Isis/Semiransis. But ask yourself, why do you say "Hail Mary"s in the blasphemous Confessional? Why are there statues of Mary everywhere? Why is Mary a saint? On a side note, ALL true followers of Christ are saints and have no need of the CC to "canonize" a saint- a usurpation of God's power. Open your eyes.
G. T. Void: You haven't responded my question. Where in the Catechism of the CC or in any official document of the Church does it teach to venerate Mary over Jesus??? Show me. If you show me where it says, then I believe you, otherwise is your baseless empty wordings, pure blah blah blah of yours.
@@GT_Void The Catholics absolutely do not place Mary above God. Marian veneration and saint intercession isn't even solely a Catholic thing. Copts and Eastern Orthodox all do this. All Christians did this until the Reformation.
I am Christian but not catholic but since I was little the first time I saw someone sign the cross I just knew there was spiritual truth in that and I still do it do this day when I am grateful to god. Thank you for explaining the meaning behind it makes it even stronger.

"God is love." 1. John 4:16 That is the inner secret of the Trinity. God became man [hand moving down] to gather us into his love [hand moving sideward], which is the Holy Spirit. "God is love." Love is not only what God is like, it is who he is. Love only exists in communion, in relationship. Therefore, God by his very essence must be something like a relationship of love. The love between Father and Son. And since God is beyond our human intellect and reason, love can be what Christian theology calls the Third Person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit. One in being/essence, three in person. In our human experience, perfect love seems to manifest itself when we give to others willing the good of the other. It is truly unconditional. Unconditionally giving. And here is God becoming man, living the perfect - sinless - life, taking all punishment upon himself and dying the most dreadful death one can possibly imagine sothat we might be saved. What more could one give - how could one give more unconditionally? Love is who he is. In Thomas Aquinas' words, God is 'ipsum esse per se subsistens'. Being itself subsisting. The sheer act of being. Love. That is what we see in the first books of the bible to our salvation in Jesus Christ. From the God who gives by creating, from the burning bush which was not consumed by its flames of self-giving love, to Pentecost. Then, "what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on their heads" - the Holy Spirit. God is love. :) I can highly recommend Bishop Barron's many videos on the Trinity and "The Love of the Trinity" by Fr. Brice Higginbotham here on UA-cam.
For some reason this gesture makes me feel much calmer when I do it. I believe in Christ and the Trinity but do not explicitly follow any Church. So it hits deeper than I'd expect. Well you explained why at the end and I completely agree, no Church can separate us from The Christ.
I’m Protestant and I use the Sign of the Cross. My Episcopalian friends also use the Sign. I personally picked the habit up form my Catholic friends. God bless.
I grew up Southern Baptist. When I returned to my faith in my 40's and received the blessing of confirmation in the Anglo-Catholic communion the beauty of this ancient sign of our faith was a precious homecoming gift.
I started at a Catholic school this year, and I didn't get how to do the sign of the cross, but I didn't want to ask anyone how. So, I looked this up, and I finally got it. Thank you.

God Bless you, Holy Spirit touched my heart to learn this and it lead to you as well as Sam Shoumanin. I respect the Catholic to keep the old History to believe and to always teach the Hero who Loved and Died for us "Christ Jesus "
Thank you for this teaching. I'm LCMS, not Catholic. Making the sign of the cross is in the Luther's Catechism, but I'm directionally challenged. 🤣 This video helped me get sorted and feel slightly less awkward. Many blessings.

This passage reminds us to not let our hearts be troubled for the Lord Jesus is with us always and will never leave us. Let us choose Jesus in our life everyday even when we go through struggles. 🙏 John ch 14 1-10 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, beloved also in me. 2 In my father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go and prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye May be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas said unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus said unto him, Have I been so long time with you and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the works.
I’m an Episcopalian and we use the sign of the cross all the time. In our liturgy we use at the opening of mass, after our penitential prayer when the priest absolves us, at the announcement of the gospel we make three small crosses on our forehead, lips and heart, during the Nicene Creed at the word resurrection of the dead, before receiving the body and blood of Christ and at the blessing at the end of mass. Making the sign of the cross is not exclusive to the Ronan Catholic Church. Many denominations use it.

I am not a Catholic, but was raised as a Mormon as a child and then turned Christian at 13. For many years, I knew there was a significance of the sign of the cross. As of late, because of my health issues, I started signing the cross from time to time and I noticed myself to be getting a bit better, believing that God and Jesus Christ will provide. I have great respect for Catholics. I made this response because Father said that he guarantees if someone signs the cross, that person is a Catholic. I felt a bit conflicted: must we be a Catholic to do the sign? Just don’t want to rub it the wrong way.
What really is the difference ?? Geez god loves his children of the world and to fight among yourself for small earthly particularlys is of the ego and satan. So just shut up and give glory to our god.
We the Greek Orthodox do the sign of the cross before every meal , and each time we past a church . We the Greek Orthodox do the sign of the cross from the right shoulder to the left shoulder , Catholics do it from the left to the right . The Greek Orthodox sign of the cross from right shoulder to left shoulder meaning from east to west , on the other hand Catholics do the sign of the cross from the left shoulder to the right shoulder meaning from west to east , both of us as Christian meet in the middle in Jerusalem which is in the heart . I was born in Bayt Jala Palestine which is a municipality in the Bethlehem District practically next door , My education was at Terra Sancta High School (Holy Land Church ) which is adjacent to the Church of the nativity , the high school is managed by Franciscan Brothers , I am one of the lucky few on this planet the church of the nativity was my playground growing up , seeing father Rocky doing the sign of the cross with three fingers brought about a memory from Christian lessons on the sign of the cross , the way we were taught the Catholic sign of the cross is different from with father Rocky is doing , it is done as follow ; Catholics will have the right hand thumb in the palm of the hand and they will use all four fingers next to each other then do the sign of the cross . in the end all what matters is strong faith in Christianity as it was brought to us by Jesus Christ . it is noteworthy that the languages east of Jerusalem written from right to left , the languages west of Jerusalem are written from left to right .
I don’t think it matters how it is done, as neither Jesus or the Apostles taught the sign of the cross. Jesus did say that we can only come to the Father through Him. So it is important to end your prayers by saying “In Jesus’ name”.

I can highly recommend Bishop Barron's many videos on the Trinity and "The Love of the Trinity" by Fr.
Was struggling with blessing myself. You helped a lot. Thank you father. You saved me. Me and god are bros now. Me and Jesus are chill. 👌👌
thank you Father for that wonderful tutorial.
Thank you.
join the RCIA....good place to learn more and understand the Catholic faith.
No no no it’s the sign of the devil. Watch closely please
Thank you good Father for giving us knowledge from god
Thank you for this little video. As a Christian who is in the process of converting to Catholicism I really appreciate it.
Thank You Father.
God Bless you, Holy Spirit touched my heart to learn this and it lead to you as well as Sam Shoumanin. I respect the Catholic to keep the old History to believe and to always teach the Hero who Loved and Died for us "Christ Jesus "

Thank you Father Rocky.
Thank you Father Aki
Thank you for this teaching. I'm LCMS, not Catholic. Making the sign of the cross is in the Luther's Catechism, but I'm directionally challenged. 🤣 This video helped me get sorted and feel slightly less awkward. Many blessings.
You know…it does make me happy though. Genuine deep down happiness…peace of mind and heart.
That is the Holy Spirit, who Jesus called the helper.
Hello Father, you make me go back to my best memories with my grandfather Giuseppe when i was a kid when he teached me to it properly. Best wishes from Italy.
I needed to find out what that hand thing was called, thank you for this, man.
Happy valentines even though that was like a week ago 👍👍👍
Thank you Father for the video. If you could say a prayer for my family and myself I’d really appreciate it. There’s just always something bad happening..and we could really use a break. The stress is almost unbearable. If you have the time I mean. Thank you 🙏 ❤️ and God bless

This passage reminds us to not let our hearts be troubled for the Lord Jesus is with us always and will never leave us. Let us choose Jesus in our life everyday even when we go through struggles. 🙏
John ch 14 1-10
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, beloved also in me.
God bless you and all who's reading this, praise the lord.
Thanks father Rocky.

Godbless you sir!😊
I’m an Episcopalian and we use the sign of the cross all the time. In our liturgy we use at the opening of mass, after our penitential prayer when the priest absolves us, at the announcement of the gospel we make three small crosses on our forehead, lips and heart, during the Nicene Creed at the word resurrection of the dead, before receiving the body and blood of Christ and at the blessing at the end of mass. Making the sign of the cross is not exclusive to the Ronan Catholic Church. Many denominations use it.
thank you! im non-religious but wanted to know about this
God bless you father

Atlanta Resident Here is a powerful prayer for finding a long term relationship with a spouse and with life long friends. It does have a computer voice reading the prayer that is written on the screen, you can mute the sound and read it along for yourself if you have an aversion to computer voice videos. ua-cam.com/video/QcjW6QVQdXU/v-deo.html

“And he gives me grace” kills me I don’t deserve it.
Thank you
Thank you sirr
Thanks so much. Merry Christmas
Yes!Thank you!Cheers!AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN.
Thanks! Great video!
I don't understand why there's so many Protestants here trying to spread hate.We don't go to your videos and accuse you of being heretics.
Truth is not hate.
Martin luther explains this very well.
If they hated you they wouldn’t be telling you the truth, you have a devil and you need to repent in the name of Jesus
What really is the difference ?? Geez god loves his children of the world and to fight among yourself for small earthly particularlys is of the ego and satan. So just shut up and give glory to our god.
Thanks!
I was born in Bayt Jala Palestine which is a municipality in the
Bethlehem District practically next door ,
My education was at Terra Sancta High School (Holy Land Church ) which is adjacent to the Church of the nativity , the high school is managed by Franciscan Brothers ,
I am one of the lucky few on this planet the church of the nativity was my playground growing up , seeing father Rocky doing the sign of the cross with three fingers brought about a memory from Christian lessons on the sign of the cross ,
the way we were taught the Catholic sign of the cross is different from with father Rocky is doing ,
it is done as follow ; Catholics will have the right hand thumb in the palm of the hand and they will use all four fingers next to each other then do the sign of the cross .
in the end all what matters is strong faith in Christianity as it was brought to us by Jesus Christ .
it is noteworthy that the languages east of Jerusalem written from right to left , the languages west of Jerusalem are written from left to right .
This is all very nice as a tradition and ritual, but none of it is biblical.
@@andsoitgoes1142 traditions are very wonderful things
@@EmilysDance1 I agree, as long as we worship God and not the traditions instead of God.
I don’t think it matters how it is done, as neither Jesus or the Apostles taught the sign of the cross. Jesus did say that we can only come to the Father through Him. So it is important to end your prayers by saying “In Jesus’ name”.
@@EmilysDance1 They are. But they are man made and not as important as doing what we are instructed to do in God’s word.
Cheers broski 🤙
I do the sign of the cross each time I say table grace and everytime I pray or do communion. I'm actually Lutheran.
