I love this parable, I converted to Catholicism as an adult after my earlier lifetime of misery, sin and confusion, mainly due to being brought up by parents who actively rejected God … to me, the workers who weren’t chosen by the landowner all day will have been anxious and feeling worthless as they watched the others get taken throughout the day for work, they would have been envious of the workers as all they want to do is be chosen and not be left out in the cold facing a cold and miserable night with no food or earnings… the workers who were chosen before them were happy (and probably quite smug) with the daily wage they agreed upon with the landowner in the morning for the days work, it’s only when they realise they aren’t getting more than the ones who worked for less time that they get annoyed, they cannot see that they had the privilege of knowing all day that they were getting paid whereas the others were having a horrible time thinking all day they had been rejected and left out in the cold, and the ones that got chosen at the eleventh hour would have been so grateful and would have worked with such zeal whereas the others will have grown weary probably hours before and would possibly not be putting their hearts into it any more, taking it for granted because they know they are getting paid anyway
That question you asked? No, I don’t want to see anyone to go to hell no matter how bad their sins. I pray for Conversion of souls every day for my family, my enemies, this government, I could go on & on. As Catholics we pray for our sisters and brothers throughout the world. That’s what’s so beautiful and rich about our Church. We have the Divine Mercy Chaplet every day at 3:00pm. So many souls are prayed for that God have Mercy on their Souls. Great video. Christianity is really most profound and its foundation goes deeper than justice. Love is its bedrock, the infinite wellspring of God's essence.
When a person has a purified heart they will rejoice with the angels whenever a sinner comes to repentance regardless whether it is at the first hour or the last.
Bishop Barron, I can tell, that you love Jesus very much. Thank you for your teachings. The Holy Spirit is moving in you and in all of us, because you teachings and words of God penetrates my heart. It is sharp, truly like a sword. The Holy Spirit gives me peace, understanding and wisdom, when I listen to your teachings. May the Holy Spirit, continue to shine on you. Thank you again, Bishop Barron.
Nobody deserves Heaven, we have all sinned and even the smallest sin separates us from God. In the parable Jesus explains that the land owner tells the disgruntled ones that who are they to tell him what he does with is money, they got paid what they agreed to do. In other words who are we to question God and His mercy? In the end everyone in Heaven is purified and all from the smallest to the greatest will regret all of their sins. Those who have sinned the worst will appreciate God's mercy more than those who have sinned less. That is why when you are seated at the banquet table for the feast take the lowest place first and if the master moves you to a higher seat than the Lord does recognize your hard work.
I'm one of your "errant brethren" but I still love Bishop Barron. I'm encouraged to see you read from a Protestant prayer. As someone who consults for both Catholic and Protestant schools, I have come to the conclusion that God has a "remnant" of true followers in most denominations. I have enjoyed learning a lot from my Catholic brothers and sisters. And unlike some of my Protestant friends, I will NOT be surprised to see many of them in God's Kingdom. My prayer is that as the world gets darker, the differences between us will be overshadowed by our need for unity. May God bless and keep you all.
There is only one Truth. Therefore logic proves that there can only be one true Church not many denominations all speaking about Jesus with different beliefs on how to gain ones salvation. One Truth the rest are lies misleading people. Your logic is faulty

Well said. Those people who "act" like Christians, doing so with resentment or bad intentions, and consequently putting their trust in their good works to get them to heaven are going to end up saying "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?"

@@EricNault-qg7ni I mean you can't expect too much from UA-cam comments 😂 I think my reply went a little more into depth saying how the Mob-Hitman sure could be in heaven, but it has nothing to do with confessing to a priest. Only his relationship with Jesus Christ. And agreed with the parts I did agree with. Like how the kingdom of heaven does begin on earth. I often say not-sinning isn't just to get into heaven when you die, but choosing not to live in sin also brings the Kingdom of Heaven down to earth for you and those around you. But if that man's statement of Christ being The Only Way was ila good enough response to the Priest saying the Hitman was saved through confessing to a Priest, what would you have added? I love growing my intellect
If we say that God has inexhaustible Mercy, and wants each one of us to be saved, then confessing our sins, showing repentance and asking for forgiveness is plenty enough for God to save us. When we pray at Mass for our beloved ones who have departed , the priest says " ...look not on their sins but on their Faith..." So, the reward is the same for a pius than for someone who repents and confess his/her sins at last day of his/her life
Thank you for this education so I can understand better. I am 100% agree with Bishop Barron preaching and vision of this parable. In the same parable, Jesus also said to those who complained. Haven't I reward you with what we agree upon, for your portion of the work? Jesus has not reward those belief in him early any less, just as much as others. Like Bishop Baron, we got the job early, we're also receive the grace early. More importantly, Who are we to judge Jesus for being more generous that he is. Amen.
From your comments section this parable escapes most of us sinners. That's why "A daily shot of God' ain't gonna cut it. We live ourselves into the Kingdom of God by being washed in the blood of Christ and aligning our will with His. Read John 6. The whole chapter.
I do not begrudge any person the opportunity to enter the kingdom of God. It doesn't matter to me how good I've been and how bad someone else has been. I desire that all get to a point in their lives that they repent of their sins and declare Christ the Messiah the saviour of all who accept him.
Jesus Christ said to his Apostles. Jonh 6 53:54 Verly verly I say unto you except you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink His blood ye have no life in you 54.whose eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day. Jesus Christ established a church whithin His church a new covenant with His blood for the remission of sin. He also ordained with His Apostles baptism and the sacrament of confession and the Eucharist . He never said ignore what I ordained with you as long as you are born again in the spirit you are saved. That is a diabolical deception.
Reminds me of the parable of the Prodigal Son. I get emotional every time I picture the father girding his loins and running toward his wayward son. How great is our God!
Respectfully, the bishop is not saying the Truth in its entirety. A confession doesn’t work that way - the important point he missed is this - the confession must be sincere and with a contrite heart. Also, I’m stunned that is a difficult parable. I find it comforting. As a Catholic I absolutely want those end of life conversions to go to Heaven. A lost soul is unbearably sad.
You’re working on the presumption that the confessions wasn’t sincere, or given with a contrite heart. Having not been there, I can’t say that he was or wasn’t sincere but I would fervently hope he was. Certainly the priest attending him felt that it was a good confession.
Roman’s 8:34. Who is the one condemning? For it is Christ Jesus, the one having died, now rather having been raised up, who is also at the right hand of God, and who is interceding for us.

I met with a priest in the 90s when I was in college who told me about how he's sometimes called to accident scenes. Sometimes the victim is severely injured and near death, perhaps unable to communicate. Father said he often felt that even in one's final seconds of life, it may be all we need to repent and accept Christ. Scripture says how, with God, a thousand years can be like a second, and a single second can be like a thousand years (sorry, paraphrasing). So who's to say that a single second - even our very last second - can't be ample time to accept Christ. Father then joked and said, "I definitely don't recommend waiting that long, but still..." God bless.
Amazing discussion. So 'simple'... except we're not. ;-) One point, though - Love is not 'just' to will the good of the other. There's a follow up detail per Aquinas, that 'To love is to will the good of the other FOR THE SAKE OF THE OTHER'..... and by extension, not for the sake of ourselves. How often do we use people - wish them well because it will do us well in some matter. We use people in this way. You see it in relationships all the time.
at 4:51 the man who confesses his sin to a priest just before he dies...but did he repent and Believe in Gods only Son as the only hope of salvation? . Barron suggested he may have to go to purgatory first. ok, where is that in the Douay or any other bible ? . It is not there or even implied (that is a dangerous heresy) To say that it doesnt seem fair or just for that man to get into heaven, but isnt it what happened to the 2nd criminal hanging next to Jesus, Well, almost. I dont know what the "hit man" said in the confession. , but I do know what the 2nd criminal said that revealed his repentance, owned his sin, openly declaring Jesus to be LORD and essentially asked Jesus for Mercy. The 2nd criminal as much as admitted he had no goodness, and no "works"' to contribute to being worthy . rather, he said to the other "we deserve to be here for what we have done, we have not "believed" in what the Savior taught or that He is God incarnate. The entire time Jesus went about, He constantly alluded to who He is. for that the Jews wanted to stone Him......for declaring and the Father were One , meaning He was God, the Son who was to come. (John 10: 27-33) The key word to grasp is the word "BELIEVE' Jesus used it often. Except you BELIEVE that "I AM ", YOU WILL DIE IN YOUR SIN (THE SIN OF UNBELIEF. ) JESUS replied to mary and martha at the tomb of Lazarus after they quizzed him about Lazarus being raised in the Resurrection , that is when Jesus declared "I am the resurrection and the Life......do you believe this ? " BELIEVE the key word everywhere concerning salvation . Beginning in John 3:16, Romans 10: 4, 9-10, Ephesians 2: 8-9 "faith = belief) Sadly, a life of kindness, good works will not be acceptable. It is why Jesus will say to those who claim "works" (see Matthew 7 : 21-23) where Jesus says to them : "I never knew you.....depart from me" Dont be fooled by good works or good deeds. We are all sinners. We must repent, just like at John the Baptist at the river doing the baptism of repentance It is Christ on the Cross, shedding His blood, for the remission of sins. Ephesians 2:8-9 declares It is by Gods Grace alone to the repentant sinner that is the way to be accepted into the Kingdom . Not works, not beads, nothing but the Blood of Jesus to cover your sin
Thank you so much, Bishop Barron, for your beautiful explanation that warms my heart and soul! We love you so much for keeping us in the Grace with Presence of Our Lord and Savior. Thanks be to God, I’ve related and experienced this: Wake There is a significant distinction in the lengthy years of pursuing a preferred course, which cannot compare to the number of years of being awake to Our Lord’s Will. . Because if we are asleep with alcohol, drugs, promiscuity, or obsessed with material things, those lengthy years of study or labor are shortened. Anything that takes us away from purifying our soul is best to put aside sooner. To use those talents with God’s purpose and pleasures intended, for the good of others. If the eyes and ears of the heart remains open, then the long experience of wake to Our Lord’s Will is the most valuable talent, whatever we pursue that sees us through to the end.
Having a relationship with God should be considered an honor and pure joy, not a burden of any kind. Thus, the early laborers definitely came out ahead. However, I feel the topic of rewards/treasures in heaven, are based not so much on salvation/getting there - but by the life a person has led, i.e. storing up treasures in heaven. The lifelong, fruitful believer would have a different, and likely higher position/treasures in heaven vs the late comer if you will.
A friend of mine put it to me in 3 simple terms in order to understand. The lowliest is human law, then there is natural law, then at the utmost pinnacle of all is Divine Law which all comes from God. We must obey all of them but place none above God's Law. If God want's to save our souls, He did it by sending His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to do such. This I believe, to the end.
I listened to him tell Ben Shapiro that he could go to heaven without believing in Jesus Christ. This stands in direct opposition to the teachings of Jesus.
Does that mean those who have never been taught who Christ is automatically are unable to go to heaven? What about a child who dies prior to the age of reason? What about people with intellectual disabilities? You are trying to make Jesus a 'one and done' that is not who He is.
I was going to comment about that interview; glad I checked the comments. I'm afraid Bishop Barron doesn't understand sin or salvation, heaven or hell. He is highly intellectual, but that means nothing to God. Salvation is a free gift, not a reward. And it is received through the gospel of Christ, not through merely living life with a "good" conscience. Bless you...
@@janetlineberry787 Small children are innocent in the sight of God, as are those with reasoning disabilities. They are saved. Those who have heard the gospel and reject Christ go to hell because they received not the Truth, and die in their sin... Those who have reached the age of understanding right and wrong, but who haven't heard the gospel, still go to hell. Why? Because they are sinners. Bishop Barron gave horrifically bad information to Ben Shapiro, not only displaying his own lack of Spiritual knowledge, but offering a "poison pill" to Ben may have sealed that young man's fate, giving him a false sense of security.
From what he said, it made me think more of when we get purged after death called purgatory. It sounds to me like when you love perfectly you are in heaven, and perfectly isn’t everybody so when other people die, there must be a place where they get a chance to fulfill the rest of the love that they haven’t done on earth. . It just makes total sense to me. But it goes to show that it’s very hard to be purely in love like Jesus loves. And that’s what we have to attain because I’m then reunited with Him right? Thus we are united in love with LOVE HIMSELF… And that is Heaven! 😇🪽🕊️🔥🌟🌃✝️
@@cq8822According to St Catherine of Genoa, a soul which goes to Purgatory does so willingly, because they have the knowledge that even the slightest part of any previous sin must be purged. They actually rejoice in this, and despite the pain of this purging, would not even want Heaven at that point. They do not want to be in the Presence of God while there are still any impediments or defects upon them. Indeed, even if God allowed them straight into Heaven without being purged, the soul would still insist on Purgatory .
I don't find that parable challenging at all. I want as many people to go to heaven as possible. It's where we belong. We are made in God's image. God's Grace is infinite. It is not a zero sum game. When a person has a purified heart they will rejoice with the angels whenever a sinner comes to repentance regardless whether it is at the first hour or the last.

Good preaching by Bishop Baron.
A wise old priest told me that above all, God s a loving and forgiving God. He is capable of much more forgiveness than we are.
@kristinebailey God is more than capable, loving and forgiving. First of all He is holy and righteous ❤!
I so appreciate the explanation of that parable. 🙏❤
Don’t read the parables in earthly terms - they are spiritual lessons. That will help you to understand them while you read.
I have zero issues with God's extensive mercy❤
Absolutely wonderful! The Bishop resonates. God Bless.

Those in heaven are perfected in love. I believe in the communion of saints. The saints in heaven because they are perfected in love; will the good for us here on earth. They are willing and happy to help us. We are all part of the Body of Christ. When we ask the saints to pray for us to help us here on earth it is like a hand offered in friendship. I think my reply went a little more into depth saying how the Mob-Hitman sure could be in heaven, but it has nothing to do with confessing to a priest.
Bishop Barron is such an inspiring person. I loved that during COVID we were able to hear his Sunday Mass each week.
Господи, Прости! Господи, Прости! Господи, Прости! Аминь. Господи, Помилуй! Господи, Помилуй! Господи, Помилуй! Аминь.
If we say that God has inexhaustible Mercy, and wants each one of us to be saved, then confessing our sins, showing repentance and asking for forgiveness is plenty enough for God to save us. When we pray at Mass for our beloved ones who have departed , the priest says " ...look not on their sins but on their Faith..." So, the reward is the same for a pius than for someone who repents and confess his/her sins at last day of his/her life
Beautiful 🙏✝️

We must be born again in the Spirit
Jesus Christ said to his Apostles.
Jonh 6 53:54

Bishop barron missed a point. Ok
You’re working on the presumption that the confessions wasn’t sincere, or given with a contrite heart. Having not been there, I can’t say that he was or wasn’t sincere but I would fervently hope he was. Certainly the priest attending him felt that it was a good confession.
Remember in God’s mercy a good confession can be motivated solely by the fear of hell.
Roman’s 8:34. Who is the one condemning? For it is Christ Jesus, the one having died, now rather having been raised up, who is also at the right hand of God, and who is interceding for us.
Christ is interceding for us in matters of condemnation! CHRIST HIMSELF.

Beautiful words! Thank you brother for reminding me this❤
Thanks for listening
These unbiblical words are all false and have no basis in truth nor reality. catholiciam is a 100% false, manmade, Godless abomination.
at 4:51 the man who confesses his sin to a priest just before he dies...but did he repent and Believe in Gods only Son as the only hope of salvation?
Jesus himself said that we have to pay every last scent. It’s in the Bible.
Happy searching 😊
And belief that He died and was buried & rose again in the third day. Conquering death. Giving all who believe Him eternal life.
Thank you so much, Bishop Barron, for your beautiful explanation that warms my heart and soul! We love you so much for keeping us in the Grace with Presence of Our Lord and Savior.
Thanks be to God, I’ve related and experienced this:
Wake
There is a significant distinction in the lengthy years of pursuing a preferred course, which cannot compare to the number of years of being awake to Our Lord’s Will.

God, help me to rejoice when I see my enemies in heaven.
True, the is a ranking system in heaven.
Yes! People seem to forget that!

Thus we are united in love with LOVE HIMSELF…
And that is Heaven! 😇🪽🕊️🔥🌟🌃✝️
Purgatory is a second chance. Purgatory is for those who are going to Heaven but need more purification.
