- What the heck is that massive, heavy thing that Willie pulled out the ground..? I anyone knows, please let us know!
Also - a very unusual poison bottle for this tip.
AND - a sneak preview of the new single that will come out when we hit 1000 Subscribers!
Is it possible that the hooks are to hold curtain rods?
Yes, I think you're right. :)
I think the mystery object is a corbel, an architectural feature. It would have had the wide part at the top with the curve going down.
That's a good shout! Could well be that! Thanks! :)
Amazing finds!!! I really enjoyed watching this one!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
That was a LOT of work on a very hot day! Your large mystery object reminds me of the ceramic gas heating stoves I grew up with in our old Victorian house. It was a beautiful find! The hooks may be for curtains, but who says they can't hold coats too? Thanks for taking us on a great dig with out of the ordinary finds! I hope you, Sarah, and Jack have a great week! Loved the still shots, can't wait for the video!
Hi Julianne! Yeah - it was the opposite of 'Cold Play' - Hot Work! :)
You're the first to suggest a heating stove. It did seem to have some sort of non-ferrous pipe thing at the top - so it really could be!
The hooks probably are for curtains, but I like getting creative..!
Glad you're enjoying the wacky finds - this tip is jammed with surprises!
Crazy week so far and it's only Tuesday..!
I think I saw a notification that you have now commented on the video (out today) - so I'll answer that over there... Working through a lot of comments, as my internet went out yesterday and all night. Speak in a min. W :)
I think you are right. They look like discards from a victorian reno.
Wow. I love the cologne bottle.
We do too - lovely wee thing. Fascinating history too! :)
My internet is down, so answering your comments from a weak signal on my phone - which apparently is a nightmare! 😂
Will be reconnected tomorrow, so normal service will resume.
Thanks to all for watching and for commenting.
Willie :)
BIG DOV #b15dov you got one to spare?
Its a two-fer! One to keep and one to share! Thanks for sharing!
A pleasure! Thanks for watching. Willie :)
Wow Willie,
Quite the unique finds today!!! It was so sweet that your first bottle was a sheer top poisonous bott?a&.
Absolutely! Some crazy finds coming up on this tip. New dig video there - coming this Sunday at 8pm... With some VERY special guests! :)
Oh hey, where are you digging ? The backdrop of green is stunning 🐞🐸🦋🌿🌾🍀☘️🌿🎋☘️🪶🦜🦋🐞🐝🦋
It's a wood on the outskirts of a town in Fife. :)
Thanks !
You had to take that decorative wood thing. Your hard word really pays off. Great finds again. ✌️💚
Did you mean the huge mystery item? It was made from heavy porcelain of some type. I could barely lift it out the hole! I definitely couldn't carry it over a mile back to my car!
And thanks - it was fun, if a little bit hard going! :)
Another fab dig!!
Great digging, fantastic video dear friend BIG👍
Interesting dig, thanks for sharing.
Thanks - was wacky and bizarre - just how I like them! :)
Fabulous eclectic mix of finds. Love the poison...and of course the mystery item. Happy digging.
Thanks - loving the crazy finds this tip is hiding!
The poison is my favourite find of this episode. The mystery object was SO heavy!
:)
A wide diversity of finds very interesting enjoying your videos more and more. Very warm weather for digging.
Hey David - yeah it was a crazy one. Always surprised by this tip!
And thanks - always encouraging to hear that the channel is improving - thank you!
Was crazy hot. I was absolutely pouring sweat all day! Drank 4 litres of water! :)
Looks like you hit a patch of building demo? The mystery item could be decorative iron column base from a building maybe?
I think so too. Loads of rubble! The mystery item is made of some sort of ceramic.
Those hooks could be to hold curtain rods. That massive piece looks like it belongs in a fireplace
Thanks - a few others think the same of the hooks. And yup - could be a piece from a fire place indeed! :)
Fun that I called fireplace on the picture alone the other day not knowing you'd found some other matching fireplace bits. More quality UA-cam Willie.
Thanks mate! :)
Fab finds!!!
Thanks :)
Awesome dig mate all great finds that poisonous ☠️ is a beauty done well thanks for shearing enjoyed watching 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks - great to hear people are watching in Tasmania too!
Glad you enjoyed it. :)
Congratulations on all your great finds. Best of luck on your next adventure…..
Many thanks. Thanks for watching too. :)
4711 is a unisex cologne that's been around for a long time. It's a crisp, citrus scent. You can still buy it today,...I've bought it before.
I use it and love the scent. First made over 200 years ago in Köln (Cologne) Germany.
Just subscribed! The Northern Mudlarks sent me! Cheers, Willie!
Thanks for subscribing! We love Gail and Alex! :)
Nice finds! I think the hooks are curtain rod holders for heavy drapes.
I think so too!
Unique finds this trip. Nice bottles!! I was curious if you sale any bottles that you don't want. It would be really cool to have bottles from Scotland. Being I'm in U.S.A Texas
Hey - we will be selling in future, but haven’t got it together yet to post them anywhere. We will make an announcement about it. :)
What a wonderful dig you've had.
Yeah - it was fun. Muddy, but fun! :)
Could the cash register. Looking thing be to read speeches, or read old scrolls like at parliament. Perhaps a stand is missing. Really amazing finds! History.
Fab suggestion - thanks! W :)
I love the big mystery object. I love the designwork!
Amazing haul. Your hard work really pays off. Hope you found out what that big beast was.
Thanks - all the digging is so worthwhile. I make the finds, then I get to share it with lots of others! Such a great feeling.
Lot of suggestions about the big item, but I'm not sure if we'll ever find out for absolutely certain what it is! :)
13.10 when they finished with the marmalade jars it was common for them to be re used to make jam rolly poly inside, they would put the mixture inside the jar and then put it in a shallow pan of water and boil the water to make it, there are many old cook books recomending the jars for that purpose
Wow - I love social history - that's a great fact there! Thanks for sharing! :)
Great dig, love the poison bottle you got - I found one once but it was chipped so i sold it along with a few other little bottles! Hooray! That’s great you got a whole toast rack after finding that broken one, will you use it for holding toast once cleaned? Haha! And you found a missing bit to the other one 😂
Those stones on top looked so annoying, I hate it when you get stuff like that!! What on earth is that massive thing?!
Thanks Kyle - a load of fun - as always!
That bottle did have a tiny graze on the front, but I was able to completely polish it out. The burst and sheared lip bottles are so fragile!
The toast racks are mad - why on earth do I always find these crazy things in twos?!
The rocks were a challenge, sure, but it was definitely worth the work to move them.
The massive thing is still a puzzle - had lots of great suggestions, but we still don't know for absolutely sure what it is!
Willie :)
Love the toast racks! The corbel and tile will look good in the garden.
The birds singing sound beautiful. Very different from birds in the United States
Hey - yes they are a lovely sonic backdrop whilst digging. Very serene! Willie :)
Well one for you one for Sarah
Having an excellent day! Sweet
Subscriber 980 here, Northern Mudlarks brought me here 😁
Hey! Thanks for joining us! We love the Northern Mudlarks - they've really helped us. :)
Gas heater insert for a fireplace. New sub sent by NM
Hi Willie, love the video . I think the big thing is a shoe scrapper??? Love all the beautiful tiny bottles. I think you can buy 4711 perfume .😊❤
Hi Lynn - you could well be right about the large item - it seems a couple of others share your view on that.
And yes - 4711 is still available - what an epic history! Willie :)
Awesome finds, excellent video! 😀 x
Thanks so much! 😊
That’s a big wow from me!!
Great finds! Hope you find out what that massive big item is ( like some bank item).
Legendary, lol 🇺🇸😎🇺🇸
new subscriber from Ohio USA. Gail and Alex of Northern Mudlarkers sent me.
Gail and Alex are ace! We're huge fans of theirs. We just did a dig together and both videos will go live this Sunday. Willie :)
Love your videos and finds. The large find looks similar to a wall fountain. Would love to know myself definitely what it may be. Keep finding those finds!☺👍
Thanks Melissa! Thanks for watching and commenting! Wall fountain could be right you know. That's the first suggestion of that too! We will keep on finding, so long as people such as your good self want to see them. Willie :)
Subscribed from Northern mudlarks
Welcome Sue - thanks for joining us! Willie :)
Love your accent
love that poison. iv had a few that say poisonous on them.. clear too.. no idea wat ya big thing is lol
Great dig mate i am glad i found your channel, "bottle digger Tom" mentioned your channel on one of hid vids.
Glad I found it i love watching digging vids as I cannot dig much anymore due to a badly broken ankle & where i am from here in Australia 99 % of the tips have all been dug.
Anyway i looking forward to watching more of your vids. Cheers.
Hey, thanks for joining us! Tom is great! And we're incredibly thankful to him for shouting out our channel.
I'm sorry to hear about your injury.
I'm glad we can somehow make you feel more attached to the hobby, even though you don't really get out too much now.
That's a pity about the tips being dug out. That's not the first time someone has said that about Australian bottle tips. Willie :)
I believe they are to be mounted on the wall on either side of a window to hold back curtains.
Is the mystery object an old shoe scraper (when metal bar is attached)? Maybe the ornaments from an old shop front with the other decorative piece?
That's a very good suggestion too. Highly possible. :)
I thought the same 😊
some lovely finds, new to your channel, great content thanks :)
Always fun to find beautiful things! Thanks for joining us! And it's a pleasure. Willie :)
Try using a fork when tackling stones, just a suggestion hun. Love your video's.
Hey Armenestra! Good suggestion! I'll do that next time! Glad you're enjoying the channel. Willie :)
Do u know if there is any place in Norway I can do bottle digging? 👍🏻😁 as always loveleyyyy finds omg 😄👍🏻😍
I don't know of anywhere specifically, but there will be bottle dumps nearby. Refuse collection is a relatively new thing. Before then, they just filled in any hole or recess in the ground that they could find... Old ponds, disused quarries etc. Usually in wooded areas close to towns, but far enough away so that the smell didn't go as far as the town. I made a video about it on this channel. Good luck! Willie :)
@@dirtysecretsofscotland thank you so much for your answere and hints 👍🏻😁
Muito lindo os achados . 👏👏👏🇧🇷
Curtain rod holders, mystery objects
Definitely a strong possibility - thanks. :)
Hello! Just sow your video second time. My English is not so good. Did you restore this huge ceramic thing? Did you figure out what is this for?))
New subscriber. Northern Mudlarks sent me.
Welcome aboard! Northern Mudlarks are great! :)
The huge mystery I’m going for a back piece to a fish and chip shop!
Hi Sal, thanks - that's an original one - love it! Willie :)
I used to wear No.4711 cologne.
Very popular fragrance I've come to understand. Still available now - after all these years! :)
I’m with Carolann I think your mystery item looks like a boot/shoe scraper, possibly even a posh rest for a shoe shine. I don’t see a fireplace piece as they don’t curve like that. Great finds best would be the mystery object, poisonous not to be taken and the Valentine’s well done 👏🏽☺️
It's a strong possibility - I've seen the type of thing that you mean.
Shoe shine... maybe, but it would have to be a stationery one - it weighed around 30 kilos!
Agreed on the 3 best finds. My favourite is still the poison bottle - but it would be, being me! :)
No , use a wood burner maybe for the logo ?
It is a four seven eleven cologne bottle. Common in the 1950s
Yes I remember this when I was young 47 eleven ☺️
Thanks - I think this example is probably late 20s. I see it's still available - even now! Wish I had shares - that's a pretty stable investment! :)
Hi great videos I'm 66 and my gran used to wear 4711
Hi Richard - thanks for sharing your story. Seems it was very popular! W :)
Sorry for the typos in the
No problem - everyone does them. :)
The "hook" things are tie backs for curtains
My Nana used to buy 4711 perfume in the 80's.
Thanks for sharing! Seems it was a very popular perfume! W :)
Willie, haven't you never been arrested? I mean, digging a huge hole when you're half naked, in the middle of the woods, does look weird and suspicious 😂. Nice finds by the way 👌
Ha! No - not yet. But if I am, I'll make the 'Arrest Special' episode. I'll run a 'Free Willie' appeal for the bail money to get me out! :)
😆 Good plan, I'm glad you're prepared for it 😅
4711 smells like lemons and is still available
The massive piece...could it be part of a roof?
Could be that, yes! Not sure if we'll ever find out for absolutely certain. Part of the fun though. Thanks for commenting! Willie :)
@@dirtysecretsofscotland you are very welcome!
Hi, Willie you know you sound like the guy who has olive and mabel the Labradors(and also does sports commentary on the BBC but who cares about that!). I think there might be an old tip at my brothers and I was wondering about digging in amongst trees and if it is possible to avoid root disturbance as they are mature trees and i wouldn't want to damage them.
Hi Elaine - that's a new one, but I agree with you!
That's really great fortune to have a tip on your brother's land! Nice one!
I think the established trees will be fine, assuming you don't cut through any roots that are over 3/4 of an inch in diameter. These are only minor roots.
Also, I'd only do so on one side of each tree. So, dig only one hole 'per' tree - at least 6' feet away.
Hope that makes sense! Happy hunting! Willie :)
Cheers I think I will give it a go but maybe when it isn't as roasting as it has been.
Elaine Cannon perhaps a good plan. Digging in this heat is quite hard going.
Police come around... we have a .missing person here,about.... ah, what are you digging this giant hole for, looks like a grave. You said you are WHAT? A Mug logger?
Ha! Excellent! :)
Hope you kept the cash register, brass or copper? That was wowzeer
No big deal would like to know if you get any credit for replays, messages and I'll be sure to help out..
Only have a few I watch and lol your great, Northern mudlarkers..and kit and cabootlers..docking bay 51...the johnsons
The cash register type item is made of heavy porcelain, and unfortunately it was wet throughout, so I didn't keep it unfortunately. Willie :)
Your mystery thing looks like a boot scrapper to me...should have a metal mount along the top
Your Rib Jars are
Marmalade Jars.
Thanks - I have only ever found one with writing on the base, and you're spot on! Willie :)
I have those two ribbed jars that was held up a jelly or jam in the party, and there are thousands of themI think they called it marmalade
Yeah - they are very common. Just the ones on this tip are always plain. Finding ribbed ones is fairly uncommon. They're very useful though - I have several in my kitchen for storing utensils. :)
Lid for soup or stew pot
Oi oi, get yer tits out 😂😂😂 fair play, it has been absolutely roasting! you are lucky you don't have brambles on your dump 😁 That poison is a real beauty, some great finds and lots of other random bits, nice one 👍
It’s not a cash register it’s Victorian fire hood x
They look like curtain rod brackets.
Yes - I think you're right :)
Um...i will buy the stuff u dont want...what material was the mystery item?
Hey - thanks. We will be setting up some sort of outlet for items soon. We just haven't gotten round to it yet. The mystery item was heavy porcelain of some type, but it wasn't fired properly as it was wet inside. Willie :)
That is a gas heater
Burn the logo in bud!
Good idea! :)
Think 1920’s ?
boot scrapper
perhaps the 'cash register' item is upside down and is in fact a fancy toilet cistern that went high above a toilet, with a chain pull. Maybe from a pub or large house?
Thats an original suggestion. It is possible too. :)
ha ha if you could just see this 71 year old lady watching intently, her for head wrinkled... trying to figure out what the heck you are saying with that Scots accent.
You just made me laugh out loud! I shall try to enunciate better in future. I sometimes forget I'm not just talking to a local friend or something! Willie :)
Thanks for the unusual finds😱I enjoyed the dig😀be safe enjoy your week🇨🇦👋
Thanks Janice - it's a tip that seems to specialise in the oddest of finds! I never know what is coming next!
Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you have a good week too. Willie :)
Hi Willie, love the video . I think the big thing is a shoe scrapper??? Love all the beautiful tiny bottles. I think you can buy 4711 perfume .😊❤
Hi Lynn, thanks! It could well be a shoe scraper. A few others have had the same thought.
Sarah loves all these wee bottles too. She's got something of a collection now!
You can indeed buy 4711 perfume! W :)
