- Iain joins Willie this week for a dig... well, actually 2 digs!
Yup - that's right - TWO digs on two different tips in this video... but what BELTERS will they find?
In the 'Rainy Days' section, see Willie restore a glass 'Quack Cure' glass bottle with resin.

I can't wait to hear that bell once you put in a new clapper. Oh, and I must tell you, I really like hearing the music you add to it all!
Thanks Molly - hopefully I’ll get round to fixing the bell properly. I did start, but it’s a tough job that will need tools I don’t currently have.
And thanks - I love making the music for these videos as much as the videos themselves. 🙂
You have ruined me. I will be driving down the road humming your theme song. I will be waiting in line humming your theme sign. People looking at me strangely. It comes into my head a lot. I love your channel
Thanks Diane! I guess it is a bit of an earworm! Glad you’re enjoying the videos. 🙂
Ssssh he will want payment for using the song. I know we all hun it or sing it. It’s addicting.
You're not alone 🎶😂
Same here!!
If you think that’s bad, wait til you start doing the belter boogie, while singing loudly, in public! 🕺🏼
The little green poison bottle is my favourite and the ginger jar is fantastic too. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing xx
Thanks Pauline - glad you enjoyed seeing the finds and the video. A pleasure to share. 🙂
That looked like a tough day on the tip. Love the ginger Jar and all the lovely bottles too. Great repair as always!
Thanks Debbie - glad you enjoyed it. That ginger jar is a stunner! And thanks - a fairly easy repair this week, but happy with it. 🙂
Yaaaay! Dirty Secrets is on!!!! Great adventure! Thanks for taking us along! 🥰
Thanks! Glad you could join us again! 🙂
The ginger jar and the brass bell are my favorites. Have a good week.
Thanks Penny - mine too! Hope you have a good week too. 🙂
Yay! My favorite Sunday pleasure ❤️
Glad you’re enjoying the channel Gracie. 🙂
Love the little green poison bottle and the glass repair is fab, great episode
Thanks Iain. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Some great finds there and I like those plain ginger jars. I visited a local dump for the first time yesterday and sadly it is a late dump, but still some local bits. That bottom layer is rammed!
Thanks Richard. Always nice to find local bits. Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but did you see if there is older stuff deeper down? I nearly wrote this tip off as too modern when I found it! And yeah, it’s outrageous on the bottom layer! Totally jammed! 🙂
The Cod Bottles will make a lovely drinking set & I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ginger Jars...agreed, a belter! I would think it would be much more fun digging with a friend!
A channel worth waiting for. Love your videos and and the BELTER!!
Very nice finds, Willie!💖
Thanks Cynthia! 🙂
Great prolific dig, love the ginger jar. It's interesting how the ash layers are indicators of possible juicy finds for you. But I bet it wasn't easant to be around when the tips were set on fire!!!. Loved your ingenuity using resin to mend the beautiful glass bottle. Have a great week..
Thanks for the video Willie. Some amazing finds m8! Now off to see Sarah as usual. Cheers, John.
I kept hoping that you would find a whole cod bottle or a ginger beer bottle. I was glad that Ian was with you it's good to have company and not be by yourself. Will see you next week.
Thanks Deborah - yeah me too - but I’m sure they will be in there somewhere!
Always fun to have Iain along, but he can only make it once in a while unfortunately.
See you in a week! 🙂
Really nice Ginger jar and all of your bottles. I always enjoy your videos ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Susan - some lovely finds again! Glad you enjoy the channel. 🙂
Its always exciting to see a new dump. I enjoyed seeing the bottle mend! 🤙🏻
I'm glad you show the scrap heap! It helps keep things in perspective for the amount of good stuff you find!---I'm also glad you mentioned a later restoration of that bell...I so wanted to hear you ding it!---And it's fun listening to Iain!
You've a nice collection of ginger jars. For such simple things, they are lovely, thank you Sara for the history bit! Thanks for all the hard work digging and for sharing this great video.😊
Your restorations are perfection ! I really love the ginger jar too! 👌
Thanks Andrea! That ginger jar really is a beaut! 🙂
Nice finds Willie and a great repair. Thank you!
Brilliant finds Willie Sarah will love the little bottles the bell and the ginger jar are my favourite finds this week, kind regards to Sarah Jack spaniel and yourself Alex xx
Loved seeing the repair!! You made it look so easy!!🥰🥰🥰😃
I haven't dug a tip for over a year now. (My only local tip has been built on) but I still dream about finding new tips and new bottles. :D
Sorry to hear your local tip is gone now. However, the good news is that you will have others nearby. Maybe not a huge town tip, but you will certainly have smaller, potentially un-dug tips near you.
Most of the tips I’ve found, I’ve just stumbled on whilst walking. They’re out there - honest! 🙂
@@dirtysecretsofscotland I need to keep my eyes peeled when out and about. Until then I'll live vicariously through your videos :)
Very nice fix on the glass bottle, Willie! Great sunny dig…the ginger jar is a star find!
I'm glad you had a great day finding treasures 😊😊😊
Nice resin restore tip! And lots of interesting bottles.
I love the train whistles in videos. Good work!
Thanks - thought that might be quite funny to add to that section. 🙂
Great finds from both of you. Great repair and your displays are awesome. Take care and thank you for sharing 🙏👍❤️
Fantastic ginger jar !!! 🌻🥰🐕🇺🇸
That was fun and different and you had lots of nice finds. The resin repair was great. You couldn't even tell it was broken. Thanks for another great video. 😊
Thanks Sue - glad you could join us for another adventure! 🙂
Fantastic ginger jar, loved this dive. Well done.
Great fun with you and Iain. Always a good time being a fly on a wall...in a hole in the ground with DSS.
Thanks Colleen - glad you could join us! 🙂
Amen on the fig bottles there,Ian👍would not surprise me if those would be found on the moon
Ha! You’re not wrong Tom! So many absolutely everywhere! 🙂
That row of bottles was quite a puzzle to sort out!
It sure was! It’s often like that too! 🙂
enjoyed the repair. can’t believe there’s a way to repair glass like that
Another cracking video and some awesome belters there Willie! ☺️☺️
great video Willie.. i really like the bell :) and lovely other finds
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! I started restoring the bell, but I don’t have a drill that’s powerful enough to bore out the rusted iron parts. Think I’m just going to wax it and keep it as is. 🙂
Nice touch up on the bottle! It is such a pretty color.
The bottle repair is great! I love the ginger jar, so nice to find it complete.
Thanks Phyllis! Glad you enjoyed the repair and seeing the finds! 🙂
The "ginger jars" could have even held Kimchi a korean fermented cabbage dish made with radish or cabbage. Buried in the ground for a few months. Yumm Willie, when you finish the resin repair, you can take a cigarette lighter and just quickly run the flame over the resin. This will "pop" the bubble in the resin and leave it clear.
Oh really? I hadn’t heard of this. Thanks for the info!
Also, that’s a top tip with the resin - I’ll try that next time! 🙂
Another amazing video great job on the bottle thanks Willie
Thanks for another great video. If it’s not too much to ask, it would be lovely to see a bit more of your collections some time.
Happy Birthday , Willie.
Lovely finds today ❤😊
wow so many bottles, I have the exact same poison but in blue, its the header pik for my channel haha. Great stuff Willie keep it up.
Thanks - silly amounts of bottles!
I’ll go check out your channel! 🙂
Nice finds, love the ginger jar! 😃💗 x
Thanks Amanda. Agreed - ginger jars are beautiful! 🙂
It is quite pretty all the different shades of aqua and green when you see them side by side.
Hi Sara - lovely colours these old bottles! 🙂
Great dig Willie, really enjoyed it, thank you.❤️
A pleasure Jane. Glad you could make it again this week! 🙂
Great vid. Loving this channel
Such a nice haul.
“why I oughta” 😂 My brother & I say this too!
Great dig Willie, Love the bell,I should with a name like I have, and look forward to seeing what you do with it.
As always, a fun and entertaining video. Might I suggest a video about your collection? It would be great to see.
Thankk you.
You’re very welcome Anna 🙂
Beautiful poisons and really enjoyed the dig!
Thanks - was another belter of a dig! 🙂
That bottle layer was amazing to see, would have been hard deciding which to go after first
It is, right?! It seems it is throughout the whole tip too. Will take me a while to work through it all. Hoping to find the oldest part next! 🙂
im sorry for your loss of the broken codds..I know it hurts.. Love the bell!
I know, right! There will be others that are complete though, I’m sure!
The bell was a real surprise! 🙂
thanks
The pheasants in the second video give away where the dump is I’ve been there too
Bloomin pheasants, always give the game away Eddy! 😂
How you doing anyway? Been meaning to get in touch for a dig. Was hoping to get to another bottle fair, but haven’t been able to make one again this year. 🙂
I love the"bell"ter,
love the little poison
Hi Willie, I'm doing some ceramic repairs and was wondering what kind of glaze you use to seal your repairs.
Hi Joann, I use Rustin’s ceramic glaze. I usually apply 5 coats or more. 🙂
@@dirtysecretsofscotland Thank you so much.
10:01 the little sound sounds like someone else making a slight noise...Ghost of the bottle dump? lol
The “token” is a Lightning bottle closure invented in the 1870’s and still in use today.
Thanks Iris. I didn’t know that. Very helpful! 🙂
As a safety step, you should not place your nose real close to the bottles to smell the liquid. Take you hand and wave the air above the opening in the direction of your nose. It is for your safety. Have you accidentally had a large whiff of ammonia? It can knock you down.
Just want you keep you safe and healthy.
I have a big Chinese blue and white ginger jar that was my mum’s.
I love it, I have it near the front door with flowers in it.
Thanks for sharing your adventure.
🙂🐿❤️🌈
P.s I spy knee pads 🙂
Please ignore my other comment asking about knee pads :)
Hey Willie, where do you get all your camo gear from, especially that fleece you had on at the start of this video.
I just buy it 2nd hand on eBay. The fleece though - I think I got that new online somewhere. I don’t recall where though. I just googled ‘camo fleece with zip’. Hope that helps! 🙂
Do you sell the beer glasses at all please? Thanks
Sometime - yes I do. However I’m yet to get the time to do the next batch. I will though - I’ll announce it on the channel too. 🙂
That one find was an absolute bell ter 😂
Absolutely Tony! Ding Dong! 🙂
Another ginger find. Oh did You find Tim Minchin song ?😀
Chili cordial.... that's why they needed Cali fig
Ha! Probably spot on! 🙂
I think that they needed the fig syrup to counteract all of the HP sauce they consumed - just an hypothesis
P.s why do you call them Ladies Leg bottles?
Could be!
I think they’re meant to resemble a ladies’ knee. Not really sure why they’re called that - not my work on this occasion..! 🙂
Very nice tip mate
Be careful who you tell about it
Thanks mate. I’ll keep it quiet. Just my mate Iain that knows about it.
Do you ever get any Dunfermline stuff?
Sometimes, yes. We put it on Etsy when I find it, as I don’t collect Dunfermline items. 🙂
im like... ok... must be a map somewhere...an old one.... that shows there used to be folks in the forest
New discovered.... 1875 harold club reno ezra brooks dice shaped bottle
I watch columbo a lot
😊😮❤😮😊. RINI
What is a "drippy-lippy", please?
It’s an applied lip on old bottles. They were applied by hand. 🙂
@@dirtysecretsofscotland Thank you. Always willing to learn!
The over head flying geese give away your location, I’ve been to that dump,
😂😂😂👍

Hi Denise, Kofi is a website that you can help support creative people. The idea is that you make a small donation to help the running of a UA-cam channel (for example). Also artists and musicians etc have Kofi.
The price of a coffee donated by a few people helps with the financial cost of making these videos. It is entirely voluntary. There is a link to our Kofi page in every video description. I hope this helps. 🙂
