Yup. The writers planned on having Allistair kill Castiel and replace him with Anna. Anna would become Dean's Ruby, so to speak, and she would become Ruby's angelic counterpart. I guess Cass still kind of did become Ruby's angelic counterpart. Ruby said that she was the little fallen angel perched on Sam's shoulder. Castiel became that very thing for Dean, minus the perching on his shoulder. Anna was supposed to replace him as said fallen angel but fans and critics loved Castiel too much.
Right? That was the plan the writers originally had. Castiel was gonna be killed off by Alistair, then Anna was gonna take over as the Angel on Dean's shoulder. Castiel's character got a lot of love from fans and critics so they kept him around and killed Anna off instead. It's funny cuz Anna, a rogue angel who had a special relationship with Dean and slept with him, in contrast to Ruby, a rogue demon who had a special relationship with Sam and slept with Sam.
I love the look on Uriel's face when Dean asks to talk to Cas alone. it is literally "Oh... they're gonna have a heart-to-heart and make out now? I should leave... don't want my celestial memory to be scarred (calm down, inner shipper, calm down)"
Ngl I think the unedited version of this scene is much more raw and authentic and explains their actions better. Be it Uriel's discomfort when Dean asks to speak with Cas alone, Cas's discomfort when Dean asks about the reason for his demotion, Dean's hope that Cas will understand him and Cas's internal conflict between wanting to help Dean and following his orders.
Cas really fell head over heels, didn't he. Already his superiors have decided that he's become emotionally compromised, too close to Dean (notice how he says Dean first and then has to add Sam). How many times has that happened to him in his long immortal life, do you think? Not to mention his "I would do anything". He is essentially saying he would do anything to keep Dean from suffering. Dean/Castiel - It's Heavenly.
The acting was beautiful. There was a lot of emotions and energy that went into this scene. It not only shows the development of their budding friendship but it does begin to point out Cas' shift from being angelic to more human. I kinda wished they kept this scene because the one they went with felt a little rushed. And when Cas admits that he is becoming more human I had to rewatch some of the episodes to catch where the change began.
@@engravedfate Yeah it was forced bullshit to shut up the annoying fans and they didn't even confirm it fully in the show they had a middle ground so you could see it as platonic. But everything before that never implied destiel In the slightest
I think it's even more extraordinary for just that reason. The angels of Supernatural are not supposed to indulge in emotions, and for millions of years, Castiel has remained unmoved. Then Dean walks into his life. I think, after four seasons, we can all agree that Castiel loves Dean. Some say romantically and sexually, some say as a friend, some say as a guardian, but it doesn't really matter what each of us see in their relationship, their love is beautiful either way.
The point isnt the type of intamite relationship they had, its the very fact one formed to begin with. As you mention, Castiel stayed unmoving for eons and then Dean changed everything. Now Im not the biggest fan of the Destiel, mostly because Im a true believer in that Dean shouldve ended up with Lisa, but even I cant ignore that whatever their relationship is, there are no boundaries, the trust is infinite and one wouldnt know what to do without the other. (Without giving away any spoilers)Which is why I believe they ended the show the way they did.
Screw what anyone ships. Screw trying to fight. What I'd like to point out is that, even unedited, the acting is so unbelievably gorgeous, and the characters really hit home. Striking scene, vibrant acting, and stunning emotion. This is why I watch Supernatural - it's a show about the characters, about the emotion, and about just fighting through horrible circumstances no matter how hard life pushes back.
Waaaaaay late on this reply I know, but I know some folks like a good rehash While I am sure scripts and scenes are written in the writers room but I have to wonder if how much of what they write is triggered by the actors natural chemistry with each other. This scene would not have been the same had it been 2 other actors. I keep reading that they were planning to make the Anna angel Dean's love interest. I am wondering if it was emotional sympatico like this that made the writers change their minds.
Part of the reason why I think I love Dean and Castiel's relationship (sexual, non, w.e. I haven't yet decided how I feel. A sexual one...just doesn't feel right to me, for no other reason other than I just can't see Cas doing anything sexual. It's just not who he is, yanno? Really though, it's the worst
i hope u don't mean Sexualy
when u say Dean/ Cas..................i am not being homophobic
i am just saying
He is an Angel
if you are gay that is fine. but i dont understand how Homosexuals need to relate to fictional characters and Change There Sexuality so THEY feel Loved.
thats not Right. YOU SHOULD BE LOVED AS YOU an individual.
not because you are Gay or Straight
it frustrates me you can't see that While Neither Dean or Cas are Gay. that they are People one human one angel that they have a Bond more POWERFUL then Sex and Sexuality and Genes and lifestyle. dont change them. BE YOU and if u dont like u change u
