it is incredible the amount of patience that it must require to shape wood into such beautiful musical instruments.....i watch these videos with the hope that they will help me increase my level of patience so i will be better in my own woodworking...
Andy33643 It actually saves the body of the instrument from cracking all the way up if you hit the edge of it. Also it's pretty decorative. + if you check it out, you can see that most of student instruments have this inlayed stripe just painted on them - so it's also an unofficial quality indicator. For me at least.
hey please i have a question !! how to recognize inlaid purfling or painted purfling on a violin !? thank you very much ! ps: wonderful work, your hands are gold
Beautiful work, very impressive! -What did you use to stain the outer layer black? - Also, is there a special process to get an even penetration of colour, or is it so thin that the dye simply soaks through? Thanks Bertie.
A very challenging , but very necessary task , Purfling almost stopped me from continuing the build of the instrument... I ruined a top Many Blessings , SMR
Wow - I can't believe you made purfling! Nice work! How did you plane the wood to be so thin? Did you plane it or somehow shear/slice it? Are the three veneers laminated with hide glue?
Beautiful music and cat make for a very satisfying video.
