I had huge problems too. Finally learned to moisten the fibrous material just enough to get it to bend. The teflon material won't break. I think holding the purfling in a moist towel for a few minutes is the truck. Hafta make sure not to wet it so much that it won't go onto the channel. Once I had it molded to the channel I let it sit and dry overnight to take on the shape before I glued it. One more thing I found was I shoulda used a slightly curved blade to shave the purfling off. I used a flat blade and scarred the wood. Especially on the spruce
