    Mate, just wanted to say thanks for a brilliant clear video - super helpful. I had a boot lid full of water and was totally in the dark as to how to fix it. This video and 45 minutes later, I am all done. Thanks Bro!

    Thank you for your video, I’ve been looking for this solution for a while now. My GF TT Roadster has had water trapped in the boot and her number plates lights were destroyed. Very expensive! The Audi Main Dealer solution was to replace the whole spoiler mechanism because a seal is not available, at a cost of €1500!!!
    I was thinking of sealing the spoiler assy like you, but not sure where to start, very many thanks for the insight. ❤️👌

      Omg.. that is so expensive! I saw that the spoiler seal is not separate part, but it is glued to spoiler.
      Trust me this is your best solution 👍🏻👍🏻😎

      @@cars_anatomy I know, all for the sake of a cheap seal. I’m just doing this one now, you are a star 💫. Thank you 🤩

    In December 2022, my 2016 TT was rear-ended on the freeway. The bumper, tail light and trunk lid was replaced. After a hard rain, water got into the trunk latch + license light assembly and ruined it. Sometimes after it dried out, it would start working again but it's only a matter of time before corrosion will win.
    In August 2023, I brought the car back to the auto body shop that repaired it and another latch unit was installed ($370 CAD per unit). At one point the car might have been transferred to the local dealer, too.
    In February 2024, the latch flooded again and died. I brought the car back to the auto body shop and made a warranty repair claim for another latch unit.
    Fast forward to September 2024 and the latch unit has flooded and failed again. I should get together with a bunch of other TT Mk3 owners and maybe we can get a bulk deal on latch units! I think the spoiler will need to be removed and resealed again with silicone which seems like a good idea. I don't know if my insurance company will follow up with the previous claim yet or what kind of repair they will authorize.

      Oh my, sorry to hear about your unfortunate story… try to claim it again, and seal it with silicone yourself as soon as you get your car back from repair… that way you know its done right :)

      @@cars_anatomy The bad seal was claimed on my insurance since it was a result of an accident. To replace two trim pieces, the latch, the camera (I don't know why), and the harness, the total bill with a rental car for one week is $5,700 CAD ! In the bill, the dealer charged the autobody shop $1100 to "code and scan" the part and a return trip towing from the autobody shop. So crazy.

      @cars_anatomy After nearly seven weeks at a new shop and a new Audi dealership, the car was returned to me. I opened the trunk in the parking lot of the shop and immediately saw water sloshing around in the lift gate latch. They must have done a water test in the morning and didn't realize that the car had failed. I returned the car, ordered $370 latch #5 and shop disassembled the car and started over again to find new leaks. The new leak is coming from a bolt that had been covered in urethane from a previous repair at the original body shop. My insurance company has been exceptionally good throughout the process although I ran out of rental coverage a long time ago since this ordeal is now going on over two years in total. The car went back into a new dealership and new auto body shop.

    Hi if I glue spoiler will water still go into rear camera? Or do I have to glue both spoiler and rear camera?

    • @cars_anatomy
      @cars_anatomy  5 місяців тому +1

      The water usually comes through spoiler. But its not a bad idea to seal the camera as well. I have a video on that as well, check it out :)

    Hi mate! I have a TTRS without the active wing. I have an aftermarket wing on the car and an issue with water getting in and ruining my plate lights and latch mechanism. Do I need to seal where you sealed or just the bolts that hold the wing onto that panel?

    • @cars_anatomy
      @cars_anatomy  4 місяці тому +1

      I would make sure to seal every point where water might be leaking in. So once around the perimiter of the spoilers, and around the screws as well :)

      @challengeronrift 4 місяці тому

      I have this problem also. Lifting the tailgate resulted in water flowing even through the seat belt entry points... taking it back to bodyshop where I got the wing installed tomorrow
