    I've since done this which helps, also tried resealing the spoiler lower deck plate...ended up drilling 2 small holes either side of the boot release handle to allow any water to drain and not sit inside the light unit.

    Side covers - the clips which broke- are we supposed to just pull the covers out or we are supposed to unlock them by inserting a tool deeper in the slot and push the clip a little bit to unlock it and only then pull the cover away?

I have a couple of questions though, 1) why not an RS?! All this effort haha and 2) that was painful to watch you slowly slide that engine accross the room, why not an engine crane! haha Great work keep it up!

It can be sprayed and brushed and does not look unsightly. Also easily removed with a petrol rag. Preserving the underside of a car is very difficult. I can send you photographs if you wish. Hello! Fascinating job. By the way, did you eve had a look at Q7 and A4/5/Q5 virtual cockpits? Im especially interested at the main PCB, rear view of the 32 pin connector, pin 19 and 20 - night vision. If you have any material on that, please do let me know :)

    • @cars_anatomy
      @cars_anatomy 2 місяці тому

      Thank you so much! Unfortunately I havent.. but I think VC should get any video feed from mib main unit in the glove box. The rear view cam is also connected there, so maybe you dont need anything around vc… i am trying to connect head up display from q2 to audi tt 8s 😂

    • @fjondo
      @fjondo 2 місяці тому

      @@cars_anatomy Thank you for very swift response. video feed from MIB is via Most i presume (well, or fakra connector). Feed from NV module to VC is technically a composite signal. (pin 19 and 20). Im just not sure how target marking is fed. Autoliv on generic system has it implemented on composite, so i figure here is same. Other warnings (HUD,...) must be via CAN feed. On Marklines page, dissasembly (TT VC) there are good photos of the back side of the PCB, and while pins 19 and 20 have open connections, as far as i can see, they go to the mid-layers. Personally, id say there appears nothing to be missing. Can you have a look? :) Regarding Q2, as it is MQB, if you have similar gateway etc... there is a good chance, that that might be doable. You had a look at wiring diagrams already? Check codings for gateway, there should be installation confirmation in gateway, and 5F MMI should hold msg bus and other parameters in the adaptation. If im not mistakin, HUD is carried via clamp_15 as message bus. Ill have a look at my scan. If you got a contact i can share you scan.

    In December 2022, my 2016 TT was rear-ended on the freeway. The bumper, tail light and trunk lid was replaced. After a hard rain, water got into the trunk latch + license light assembly and ruined it. Sometimes after it dried out, it would start working again but it's only a matter of time before corrosion will win. In August 2023, I brought the car back to the auto body shop that repaired it and another latch unit was installed ($370 CAD per unit). At one point the car might have been transferred to the local dealer, too. In February 2024, the latch flooded again and died. I brought the car back to the auto body shop and made a warranty repair claim for another latch unit. Fast forward to September 2024 and the latch unit has flooded and failed again. I should get together with a bunch of other TT Mk3 owners and maybe we can get a bulk deal on latch units! I think the spoiler will need to be removed and resealed again with silicone which seems like a good idea. I don't know if my insurance company will follow up with the previous claim yet or what kind of repair they will authorize.

    • @cars_anatomy
      @cars_anatomy 2 місяці тому

      Oh my, sorry to hear about your unfortunate story… try to claim it again, and seal it with silicone yourself as soon as you get your car back from repair… that way you know its done right :)

      @@cars_anatomy The bad seal was claimed on my insurance since it was a result of an accident. To replace two trim pieces, the latch, the camera (I don't know why), and the harness, the total bill with a rental car for one week is $5,700 CAD ! In the bill, the dealer charged the autobody shop $1100 to "code and scan" the part and a return trip towing from the autobody shop. So crazy.

      @cars_anatomy After nearly seven weeks at a new shop and a new Audi dealership, the car was returned to me. I opened the trunk in the parking lot of the shop and immediately saw water sloshing around in the lift gate latch. They must have done a water test in the morning and didn't realize that the car had failed. I returned the car, ordered $370 latch #5 and shop disassembled the car and started over again to find new leaks. The new leak is coming from a bolt that had been covered in urethane from a previous repair at the original body shop. My insurance company has been exceptionally good throughout the process although I ran out of rental coverage a long time ago since this ordeal is now going on over two years in total. The car went back into a new dealership and new auto body shop.

    • @cars_anatomy
      @cars_anatomy 3 місяці тому

      Thank you so much Victor!! This is what I would try: Look under the seat, in the middle is the electric motor for movement back-forward. Look for cables that connect to motor, and search for connector on the other end of those cables( the connectors that go to the floor of the car).it shoudl be just two pins, maybe bit larger for power! Then use two wires and connect those pins with 12v battery from the car. Just touch the battery shorty and see if the seat moves( you will hear the motor). If you need opposite direction just switch + and - of the battery, and the motor will turn in other direction 🙌🏻 good luck!!

    Cold air intakes yes indeed you could better use some sort of heat shield to also improve the air directing to the filter but this doesn't do much for power tho very small increase people do this mainly for sound, but if you really want to improve on intake performance you should rather upgrade the intercooler to one with more capacity and stronger cooling so the air is colder especially when the turbo is hot it will heathen up the air on the cold side of the turbo aswell

    Thank you for your video, I’ve been looking for this solution for a while now. My GF TT Roadster has had water trapped in the boot and her number plates lights were destroyed. Very expensive! The Audi Main Dealer solution was to replace the whole spoiler mechanism because a seal is not available, at a cost of €1500!!! I was thinking of sealing the spoiler assy like you, but not sure where to start, very many thanks for the insight. ❤️👌

      @cars_anatomy 3 місяці тому

      Omg.. that is so expensive! I saw that the spoiler seal is not separate part, but it is glued to spoiler. Trust me this is your best solution 👍🏻👍🏻😎

      @@cars_anatomy I know, all for the sake of a cheap seal. I’m just doing this one now, you are a star 💫. Thank you 🤩

      I know about the car (following the saga from day 1😅) but didn't understand yet what damage you've found on the engine (if any)

      @Lorenzo_TT-RS ahh, I appreciate you so much!! The aluminium part between the block and plastic oil sump was broken.. of course, the oil sump as well. Other than that, all internal components of the engine are ok. 🤗🤗👍🏻

    Hi mate! I have a TTRS without the active wing. I have an aftermarket wing on the car and an issue with water getting in and ruining my plate lights and latch mechanism. Do I need to seal where you sealed or just the bolts that hold the wing onto that panel?

    • @cars_anatomy
      @cars_anatomy 4 місяці тому

      I would make sure to seal every point where water might be leaking in. So once around the perimiter of the spoilers, and around the screws as well :)

      @challengeronrift 4 місяці тому

      I have this problem also. Lifting the tailgate resulted in water flowing even through the seat belt entry points... taking it back to bodyshop where I got the wing installed tomorrow

    Yup I’ve been hearing water slosh around in my rear hatch for the past few weeks. Then randomly one of my plate bulbs went out. I thought “aren’t they LED?” Then this video confirmed it was probably the water. The whole unit plus rear view camera is $300 OEM… absolutely wild
