Would love to see the listed price for everything he brought in. Easily double the credit from the few items we did see. I get trying to run a business, and the fact that some of those items may be negotiated down, but this seemed a bit aggressive.
5 screw games by a certain time were stopped because I think it was easier for people to swap out the game boards, then return a more expensive game with a board of less expensive game. Of course stores and Nintendo caught on, and Stores changed their return policy and Nintendo changed the cart set up that required a special tool to open the cart.
I was thinking the same thing. People can really get obsessive about minor differences. I guess if one has the money then go for it, but I'd rather get the cheaper variant, and use the rest of the money for something else.
Think of how many hours it would take to sell all of that stuff individually, then multiply those hours by your hourly wage, and you'll understand why it can be beneficial to sell to a store.
@@Fast_Travel_Gamer Blasphemy. Ha ha of course, I was just implying that it is not always the best option to trade in at a store but for convenience yes it is a popular option.
The chap got severely short changed at this trade-in. The shop keeper should have given him way more for all these retro items. And all for a game. Ridiculous.
I been collecting retro since 2008 when I got my first part time job. And the thought of paying $1200 more for extra screws just seems so bizarre to me.
Can say the same about alot of collection things. Coins oh a of weird mark on the coin. Cards has small misprint. Rarity is what collecting is all about.
I love how we collect all of these things that make us so happy. But when we die our families are going to have to deal with selling our crap that they could care less about. lol!😂
If you’re a collector of anything and then move, it all makes sense. When I moved I released collecting old stuff is crazy. I sold all of my stuff & haven’t looked back.
The krang with no vein color is the one that came with the android body. That’s the difference. The one with the blue veins is the one that came out with the original line. While the No veins all pink one is the original one to come with the body. I got one for Xmas back in the day and vividly remember noticing that and even mentioning it to my parents.
that’s over 100 % mark up. They pay around 60 to 70% of the valve ( 70% if it’s credit ) , so mark it up around 30 / 40% to sell it around market price. so it’s more like $1300 they will make from that.
50 to 60% mark up is reasonable depending on size of store etc as employees need paying and other stuff like rent (unless you own building out right), and keeping the customers cold/warm , keeping the place clean etc.
The time to sell and ship those games should be considered as well but yes I do agree with you on this to a certain extent. Should have just been a straight trade
It takes time to sell all of that, there's a reason he's bringing it all in instead of selling it himself and bringing the cash from it. The value is in the instant money, it could take literal years to sell everything and get their money back
$900 in store credit... man I think this guy should have just said hey Retro Rick I'll give you $1200 cash or I'll give you all this amazing stuff worth $2500+ for it instead... All or nothing though. I bet Rick would have said deal and gave him that rare game straight up for that trade in had it been presented like that.
I raelly dont get this. All this for an **extra screw in the back of a game case**!!!??? The guy was truly scammed. That game is not worth 1500 no matter what sellers may say.
I hate to say this, but at this point you could 3D print a new 5 hole case and put the label on it lol. I used to be so fanatical about a massive physical collection; but the multicarts you can get for $30 online now really eliminated the need to horde them all.
Collecting NES games this rare is weird to me. Such an old console, everything can be played on a fuckin cell phone let alone PC emulators, why in the hell would someone put like, $100,000 on a collection like that.... I get if the guy's a millionaire and it's a luxury collection. Totally respect that. But I'm a guy with 1000+ games, I collect EVERYTHING, beanie babies, pokemon cards, sports cards, memorabillia, retro games, retro PCs, retro consoles, digital game items, hot female friends (just some humor there lol), and even I think this is absolutely insane lol. But I do respect it, if this is what his passion is, who the fuck are any of us to judge? If he simply grew up on Nintendo 8 bit and plays the hell out of these games on real hardware, than fuck yeah, do it brother! For me I'd much rather get all the main games and ignore the 'variants' like this. I mean, he's buying it because it has 5 pins. You tell that to a non collector, and they'd tell you you're absolutely insane lol. But I get it.
See, this is what gaming is all about. $1200 copies of games which should be in a trash can, but aren't, simply because they have 5 screws. Everyone broke this hobby so many years ago lol.
