I remember being so stoked getting this for Xmas the year it came out. I remember setting up all the pieces and all the time it took. Then l realized my Dad accidentally threw away the directions in the trash.

Wow, this is a blast from the past. I was watching a video where they casually mentioned this game and it flooded back memories of playing this. My dad and I would play this game all of the time.

33 year old 40k player here.
We found a copy of this in my parents attic recently, it's something we thought had been lost to time. All the cards/tiles were missing but I have the miniatures and the vinyl mat. I've ordered replacements from ebay and I'm excited to play this.
I'm big on painting and smashed out the ogre champion this wèek. I can't wait to play this game.
I dropped a like. Thanks for the review.

I love how any time I think about a random vintage game, I know I can search it and find one of your reviews for it. I don't have any friends or family into the hobby so it is very nice to hear you go over your thoughts on presentation gameplay build quality etc.
Thanks for all the work you put into this great UA-cam channel.

    Wow, nostalgic game!
I had this back in 1992, used to take up me entire bedroom floor. Used to love the Chaos guys.
    EDIT:
Your over all review is fair I guess in regards to the strategy and so on. One thing I feel I ought to mention is that this game is really for kids. Nothing wrong with adults playing it though, but this game was/is the entry level to old Warhammer Fantasy (R.I.P.) and as kids, we used to love it, as it wasn't very complicated.

I still have this game x4 on an 8x8 foot map under glass. All pieces are hand painted. I also added D&D pieces for wizards,
dragons and griffons... with added cards and rules. Luff this game. Best ever. Also...when you have 4 games on a super huge map... there is a ton of strategy to be played out and can take up to 12 hours to play. Good job. Thanks for showing it.

@@pixelasm - That is a good thing in my opinion because my fine motor skills are quite poor! My dream scale is actually 15mm but i just can't work with that scale because it causes pain in my fingers! First i tried "Demonworld" and then i started to recreate "Halo Ground Command" by 3d-printing! Painting the miniatures from Halo was extra horrible for my fingers! Now i learned my lesson and won't touch any thing beneath 28mm! I purchased 2 copies of this game on ebay and i want to combine it with rules of "Battlelore" or "Commands and Colours Ancients"!

A fun game. I still play it a lot. During the recording, all units have 3 health. The oger champion losses cards when hit. If there are no cards remaining. It dies. You must plot the cannon tiles to the target. During the plot, if there is a bounce, the unit and cannon takes one damage in the space. If it is an explosion at the next space from the cannon it is a misfire and caught in the explosion.

  • @pj3679

My friend and I bought this game, one for each of us, we were in our early 20s' so it is not just for kids. We like games with lots of peices like this, and risk, and axis and alies, and such. The game does indeed take a while to set up and to resolve all the moves to a victory but that is just fine. I remember the Ogre being very random and chaotic in its moves and attacks while the cannon was devastating. I usually played chaos while my friend played the empire, and his cannon fire was deadly to my troops. I really liked the game. Over the years we stopped playing these kinds of games, and he gave me his set, so now I have both. Yay for me. ,,, it sits in my closet, but it is a great game, I bought it from Toys R Us back in 1992 or 93, it was on sale for 20 bucks. I remember because I also bought Hero Quest about the same time and for the same price at Toys R Us, he bought Space Crusade.

So many afternoons spent playing battle master. Unfortunately i think the game is really unbalanced in favour of the good. Never able to win with the chaos, always won with imperium.
Cards allow knights to act too often and they are very strong, while chaos units are quite weak (even though they are few more)
Not clear what the empty face on the die means.
