Ep. 78: Fireball Island Board Game Review (Milton Bradley 1986 ) + How To Play
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2024
- A review on how to play the board game Fireball Island.
Extra Notes:
-There is a card that will allow you to move 4 spaces instead of rolling the die.
-There is a smolder pit near the dock.
A plastic tiki idol is placed in the raised middle of a molded, 3d board, where it can rotate freely. Players move their explorer pawns up the sides of the mountain along paths and through caves, trying to reach the top of the mountain, retrieve the idol's giant ruby, and take it down the other side to the waiting boat. However, both the idol and volcanic vents throughout the board periodically spit out "fireball" marbles, which physically roll down the mountain, either plowing through explorer pawns in their path, or toppling triggered bridges as they pass under them. The sound of the marble on that molded tray board is the sound of memories. My neighbor had this game and while I don't think we ever played it properly (we were quite young) the red jewel and the chutes was always a lot of fun.
Just found this for $17 at a thrift store, complete in amazing condition
fatherhoodpov That’s an amazing find! It’s a great game! My daughters and I love it!
I have this game since 86'
I'm going to break it out and teach my kids to play. It's so fun.
Still have mine from childhood, complete. I cherish it.
Me as well. I was in my twenties when I purchased it at a Jamesway as the chain was selling off stock before their demise. I either paid $14.99 or $19.99 for it. Who knew it would be such a hot item. Really fun game, too.
We still play this when I go home for a holiday. We played at new version of it at a board game bar recently and the new version sucks. It was complicated and not as fun
@@jrg305 new one is way more fun
@@stewwart6060 no it’s not
Good job explaining a somewhat complicated game. We like playing it...gets really exciting towards the end!
i was 10 when i got this from toys r us.... thank you so much for this video
You're welcome!!
Look at that satisfied smile on your face. I love it! A grail game for me as well!
Love this game I had the game when I was a kid got it at Gold circle going out of business. Fireball island and Hero Quest are my favourite board games.
Those are two of my top games too.
Fireball Island is an amazing game. The new version by Restoration Games looks great but is needlessly overcomplicated, IMO. I love the simplicity of the Milton Bradley game.
I did have the newer version and I liked it a lot, but the snake marbles constantly kept falling and they were just so many the snake marbles constantly kept falling and they were a lot of different expansions you could use. I don't know if they were necessary.
Great videos. I just came across your channel. Fireball Island was my favorite game growing up. I came across this game on a late night ebay auction for $21. I just need to find the pawns and the bridges. Still a great find.
Thank you for a clear explanation of how to play this game. We have had a lot of fun with it!
Restoration Games kickstarter in Nov or next Jan/Feb "Fireball Island: The Curse of Vul-Kar" on BGG
April 3rd is the launch date for the Kickstarter
The 80s..such great memories as a kid!!
I know the new version is easier to get ahold of but I honestly want this one more, I want to go for the vintage/original games, and I've seen people say this version is better.
I totally forgot about this game playing it as a young kid. I wish I still had this game 😕
I still have mine!
Question: What is an 8 letter word that only has one letter?
Envelope.
Its on kickstarter now. Its already funded so better be quick :)
I had this. , i miss it 😔
Board Game Museum: Home Of Classic Board Games thanks hopfuly it works out
Update I now have this grail , and the remake with all expansions, and I use your video when explaining game
Looks a lot easier than the reboot which apparently I need a book for dummies to figure out how to play
I found the Restoration Games version confusing as well. It's an okay game at best. I much prefer the Milton Bradley original.
good review. my alien board game isn't quite but its more expensive than when I bought it. dark tower, star wars epic duels are the two I have. an 18" kenner alien in box has always been a holy grail of collecting toy and RC jawa sandcrawler I can brag about lol my friend let me borrow his blue snaggletooth. those are toys but you get the idea.
I have about 4 epic duels videos I started this summer and were 90% finished. including showing every single card. too many vids for an old game but its still popular. I got sidetracked by other things. its my original I got at toys r us first day $21.29 w tax. I should go back and see what I have to finish on the vids or just upload what I have since you guys want to see it. people don't ever watch the entire vid. I make too much of a production of of things but well thats how I do it and would want to see it if someone else did it. I was still figuring out how to present xwing minis game different than anyone else its getting ridiculous. its really holding me back from finishing other vids. I started it so have to finish it. It'll be good though for a free vid that fantasy flight games will sell more product on. mm wait maybe I shoudln't finish it lol
I wish i could have this game it look's very interesting and funny.
Ok thank You.
Restoration Games (the company that recently released new versions of Top Race, Dragonmaster, and Stop Thief!) announced today at GenCon that they will be releasing a new, revamped version of FIREBALL ISLAND in 2018! restorationgames.com/fireball-island/
Could go either way. The new Stop Thief doesn't seem to have affected the price of the original (that I'm aware of).
Hi, could this board be played with the new pieces from the restoration version ? Thanks
I'm not sure about the marbles, but the playing pieces I think would work
Anyone have a card breakdown link or list of how many of each cards you’re supposed to have?
I'm not sure of the breakdown but you start with four cards
There are 48 cards. Go to the BoardGameGeek website and search for Fireball Island (1986). Once you are on the Fireball Island page, look for the files section. There is a pdf of the 48 cards in the files section.
needs to be made again i mean we all have those 2d games like monopoly, scrabble, and game of life (unless you count the spinner) but why not THIS GAME this game is perfect for children it has adventure, risk, and great features but there are still some good games like cluedo
They are making it again right now on kickstarter
Ahh great game. Fireball Island is my white whale. I'm always lookin' but never findin'
At least three feet long? Looks maybe half that.
Maybe. It's about as long as my arm
@@BoardGameMuseumer Okay maybe two feet.
