We finally have done it, after 13 months on the road and counting we are giving you a tour of our caravan. Caravanning is not for everyone - so full time can really be tough, but we love it Van Life is an amazing way to see our beautiful country and that is why we wanted to give you a caravan tour.
Our Jayco Starcraft was purchased from our local Geelong Dealership - Jayco Prestige and Jamie is our caravan man. We picked her up in November 2017 and would spend approx 8-10 weeks plus long weekends in her. But finally in 2019 we dicided to make the big step and sell our house to move into a caravan with our two kids.
We have travelled the full lap of Australia - Across the Nullabor, outback Western Australia, Cape Leveque, over the Gibb River Road, Savannah Way - The Cape York and many amazing places and our girl did not miss a beat.
We chose to travel in a full sized caravan, double bunk, ensuit with toilet & shower and washing machine.

Ahhh so exciting! They do have sooo much storage - great van. I’m sure if you measure properly you could get some better containers but I was lazy and just purchased the ones at K-mart. The bunker boxes under the bed are from Bunnings

Hey Glenn, we are from geelong so we get the cold too, but our beaches are no comparison to your stunning ones. We are catholic so we may have a cross up somewhere. She’s been a wonderful van. I did a video after we stopped travelling listing what we broke and it was pretty good after living in it for 2.5 years.

Great video. We are also considering taking our cat camping. Where do you keep the kitty litter tray?
We keep it in the shower, with the vent open
Interested to know the loaded weight with all your gear in the van excluding water?
yeah - we should weigh it. But the water alone would be 180 kilos
Nothing wrong with the D Max.
With the fridge vent why not put some velcro around the vent and use a cover.
Works very well as ive seen it in action
So what have you done protection wise under the van?

ExploringOZ channel some very good tips and did have a wayco van similar to what you have
Yeah the dmax was good but not 4wd or a v8. Good idea with the Velcro! No protection under the van, just as is. Mark has had to add extra struts under near were the table had wobbled. We looked at the new model and looks like they had added more now

Thanks for the tip, Ive checked them out. We have just the full lap over 17 months and still going with no plans to hit the hard roads for a while. Our van travelled well without any protection on the under belly, the only thing is we should have however put the table down when travelling. Are you guys travelling at the moment? Do you have a Jayco?

How do you manage the cat litter?
We have the kitty litter in the shower and just replace it daily. If we are beach camping we try to use sand - they love sand. But it does make more mess. I did a video on how we travel with our pets that might help if you are considering taking them with you ua-cam.com/video/P-Q8ec5u1Rs/v-deo.html
Where did you purchase your shampoo dispenser (I like the hook for the shower poof) and is it self adhesive or did you have to screw in to the shower? I am a bit nervous to screw into the shower wall.

Very much the van I’d like. In fact walk through a brand new one looked pretty much identical to your layout. Am wondering about the tow vehicle good to know that you started with the d max and moved to the 200, so pricey getting into that size 4wd 😬 you can get a brand new dmax / ranger for the price of a 200 series with 100,000kms on it, but ultimately want traveling to be safe
Yes that’s what we thought. The cruiser just does the job better with the weight and makes us feel a lot safer and smoother ride. With the DMax we could feel the pull and bounce

How do you go with the cat does he try to get out and if so does he return.does he travel in the van or car.my cat is indoor but wouldn't trust him .
Yeah they do try to get out but not too much. We have leads to take them out, they like to sleep ALOT

Hey Emma, if you have a full van like this it is simple. Our cats are inside cats so they are happy chilling inside the van and love looking outside. One is totally cruisey and the other does want to go outside. We have tried harness’s on them but going to try that again. Kitty litter goes in the shower and we leave the tops vents open. 1 travels well in the car the other wants to walk around so lately we have left them to sleep in the van when moving. They snuggle up on the top bunk no problems

@@Donna.Buckingham thanks that will be awesome. It will help with trying to convince my partner we can travel with a cat. Mine loves to be outside but is not harness trained.
Maybe try a harness a little bit a day. And does your cat use the kitty litter inside?
She can use a litter tray but we only put one inside the house during the winter or if a lot of rain is forecast. Otherwise she prefers doing it outside 😄
