It's really cool that you use an entry level controller to show of pretty complex scratching. It shows that it doesn't matter which hardware or software you own. You can scratch on almost any setup - all you need to do is practice
Hye DJ Carlo Atendido, I'm 21 from Sabah, Malaysia. I just saw your video today and i subscribed to it, because i find it really helpfull for us beginner with big dream... haha sounds funny for me. but i see that all your video were so helpfull and organised which help me to learn easily and the way you teach is so easy to understand than other youtuber video i watch also the most important thing i like about your video are, u always make your video short..because i dont like a very long video either u all right especially when u want to learn something new. Btw. thanks for all of your guide towards me and all the beginners out there and i will definitely suggest your video bro. Happy new year guyss
Thanks a lot fam! This was the most frustrating scratch to me since i didn't know what it is called or how it is performed. I had practiced forward and reverse tears but i didn't know anything about swirls, but now i know. Thanks a lot Carlo i appreciate you massively.
Thank you dj Carlo. U may not remember but few months ago I sent u a message on ig asking if you can demonstrate a specific scratch in a video. And here you are delivering it! I can’t want to get home and practice thee Sh*t out of this. I been trying to get this broken down like this for month esp the tear scratch. Thank you so much. Your videos really help ppl like me who’s just learning these scratches
Veeeeery useful video, because I already been able to do swirl scratch, but when it speed up, I always do mistakes and it sounds terrible. But after watching this video I’ve improved my skill and now I’m gonna make my own little video, and it absolutely thanks to you🙏🏻
wow ! This technique is very difficult to me !! tried hours without results :( but as always yuou are a really big dj that helps others thank you a lot!
yo dude your my favorite DJ that dont create's music, but recreataing it. i watched all of your videos. if you remember me from the last one. your awsome, keep doing what your doing, and PLEAS dont ever stop. B.T.W im gonna buy the ddj sb3 this mounth :)
Great video, thank you Carlo! It would be awesome if you could break down step by step the entire scratch combo that starts at 0:04. I can’t seem to reproduce the transformer cuts at 0:13. Seems that ending the prior scratch with a closed fader is key there? Love your channel!!
How can i tear scratch sharper without the platter stuttering in between the individual movements? I’ve started using more arm and less wrist and it seems to help but also seems unnatural and not the same as the wrist action you use for most other scratches
I have a question as I can delete all the songs that were already recorded in the rekordbox the reason my hard drive was burned and no longer reads them comes out with the sign ⚠️ thanks the best Dj Carlo
Awesome! Thanks for sharing the knowledge! I'll love to learn how to scratch out the track when mixing out.. So the track that you are mixing out of scratching it out .
@@djcarlo thanks dude, Ive started throwing the two tears forward in as I like the sound. 🙏 I followed all of your scratch combo videos and was suprised tbst the transforms gave me the most trouble. I scratch hamster and I feel like it's awkward to flick it open when I been so used to flaring
Felicitaciones
Does it matter which side of a jog wheel I press on? I see you're pressing on the left side of the jog wheel and I just realized that I'm have been doing the opposite. Awesome tutorial thanks!
“…and that’s it…” @3:05 🤯 😂 … Hey, do you practice the same amount, more or use your left hand less than your right as a DJ? I’m right handed so I’m really focused on building up the coordination and rhythm use of my left side.
I have trouble keeping my hand steady enough to tear cleanly. It always sounds muddied due to the platter shifting as I move from the first push to the second. Any tips on keeping stability to make it sound clean?
Transition songs help tremendously. They are usually pre-edited, recorded, and then dropped into live sets to help transition. Example song would be like Black Eyed Peas - Imma Be. It naturally goes from 92bpm and transitions to 122bpm at the end. From there you can mix in house/EDM beats without trying to drop a ~125bpm song into the 85-95bpm range. Hope this helps (1 year later lol)
What is the name of the track you have loaded on platter two to execute the scratches? And if you're at a party rocking, would you use this exact record to perform those scratches or are there certain sections of any given song that you're listening for to execute this type of scratch?
Super Seal by DJ QBert! It should be linked in the description. As for your second question, I actually would, as it was designed to be used when scratching in general over the songs you're playing :)
What do you think about the reloop terminal mix 4 djcontroller sorry for the off topic but i want to know your opinion before i buy my first dj controller
Hey bro thanks for the video appreciate it. Was wondering if you could make a video of when to release the song after scratching on time? its cool if you don't, thanks anyway. Btw Happy New Year , have a great one
When i have to perform live, I load the track on my ddj 400 controller. It takes time, it does bad on my performance. 😢 Helppppp... .! What should I do ? ? ?
Damn this is FIRE xD...ITS REALLY REALLY getting MORE AND MORE COMPLEX and HARD....but this is really really DOPE...and really really need a LOT A LOT A LOT of PRACTICE xD
I find myself now down the path of committing to becoming a scratch dj. Rona creating a limited income I ended up with an FLX6. So I've been drilling for 4 days straight an hour a day. working on chirp scratches, baby scratches, transforms, and starting to learn tear scratches. When I try to follow along with various drill videos I find myself sitting here on New Years Day wondering "Do I need to send this thing back?". It seems like, and I get that the problem is likely my technique. I'm like 95% sure of that. I mean. I'm still new. That's reasonable to think. When I ramp up the speed by trying to follow the indicator on the platter itself. It seems like I start to lose tracking when I really ramp that speed up to crazy 130 bpm levels. when I try to double down on 16th note scratches. It makes me wonder. What are the "scratch limits" of a controller. Even one with platters like the FLX6? Is there simply just a routine or combo that is just not gonna happen with a controller that turntables, even cheap ones like the AT120x's make possible? Curious to hear your opinion but also want to send a new years challenge your way. 2 routines Carlo. For 2021. The first. Make the sickest, most difficult display of scratching on a controller you've ever put down. Something YOU think is super hard. Then, do that same routine on turntables and then maybe talk about the differences? The second routine, make the sickest, most difficult turntable scratch routine you've ever thrown down. then try to do that same routine on a controller and... well. you get the idea. 2 part series video. You've said in many videos no matter what. Turntables are your favorite. So please, help new people get a deeper understanding of why that is.
This is a cool lesson. It would have been better to demonstrate it at half that speed though for us DJs who are just now learning it. Something to think about for future videos. Thanks!
Thanks Carlos! I've been working on it a few days now. I had to slow it way down around 60 bpm just to grasp the rhythm at first though. I'm up to around 85 doing it pretty cleanly now. The rhythm is finally starting to stick in my head. 👍😁
Last time I asked. Actually begged that you come up with content for all Numark controller users using Serato or VDJ. But all your videos are done using Pioneer controllers and Rekordbox software. Am I have a Numark controller and having difficulties following your lessons.
@@djcarlo are you allowed to test other controllers or it would cause contractual issues? Believe you me it's not the same. all the stuff I wanna try off your videos is mostly Rekordbox and to a minimum Serato.
@@djcarlo Thanks for the prompt response. I know Numark cannot work on Rekordbox software. So my ask would be for you to make videos for both Serato and Rekordbox. Beat juggling on little jog wheels isnt worth the brain ache though need proper platters for that
Plz make a video on transformer, stabs and forward scratch combos
Great idea ising the tear first, other tutorials suggested a forward or stab followed by a scribble. The tear simplifies the process. Thanks man 🤘😁🤘
