An honorable mention. Yoda separates Clone troopers heads from their bodies in Revenge of the Sith, not to mention Leia strangling Jabba in Return of the Jedi.
Why isn't Order 66 on this list? The way so many Jedi are gunned down by their Clone Troopers just hits you hard, which is only elevated by John Williams's score.
Not to mention, That was the exact moment The Old Republic fell,The Jedi when extinct,The Empire rise and The Galaxy was ruled and conquered by fear and darkness. That is so sad and heartbreaking. Those poor Jedi.
And the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" makes it worse. It gives us time to get to know all those Jedi and their clone troopers, not to mention it also gives us more insight into Order 66.
An honorable mention. General Grievous' grievous end in Revenge of the Sith. Having the remains of his organic parts and shot in the chest several times and being burnt down is a pretty haunting scene.
Chewie’s loud roar when Han is brutally stabbed through the chest will always be upsetting to me. I can’t imagine the trauma of watching your best friend get gutted by a lightsaber.
I have to say, Han Solo is higher on the list for me. There is something truly disturbing about a child killing a parent, and that moment when Han caresses his son’s face….
The Tuskin raiders is a great number 1. It does foreshadow one of the many steps Anakin Skywalker takes to becoming Darth Vader. I do agree that Han Solo’s death was unexpected too.
#10. “He is as clumsy as he is stupid.” Those are smart words from the Dark Lord. #9. And Han thought acquiring three for King Prana was a good idea! #8. When Vader rampages in the Rebel ship at the end of 'Rogue One' was brutal. Pinning that one guy to the ceiling then slicing him in half was hardcore and a long needed look at Vader's brutality that had been hinted at for so long.
Young people made this list. Anyone who was alive when A New Hope was released, who got to know Han as a small child, who grew up with Han, who loved Han since the 70s...for them there was no more brutal death than Han Solo. It hit hard. It should have been number 1 on this list.
It only took me seeing episode 3 once when it first came out for it to take Return of the Jedi's place as my favorite Star Wars movie.. almost 18 yrs later it remains in that #1 spot and the first 15 min is a major reason why..ive always loved the prequels but i was thinking maybe 3 wouldn't live up to my expectations but it surpassed them in many areas and the combat and space battles is 2 of em though i wish the Dooku fight was longer and i was bummed out that Dooku died so early as Christopher Lee made him into such a bad ass but that scene where Sidious tells Anakin to kill him and the way Dooku looks almost like he's going to beg for his life but then he just accepts his fate and Anakin afterwards..i just really love almost everything about that movie..its real nice to see the prequels finally get some recognition and appreciation but they deserve much more
DEW IT!!!! The first two words to ever be uttered by the great Emperor Palpatine, and Ian pulled off the role since ROTJ to absolute perfection. The deaths in this franchise or any other franchises can be unexpected or seeing it coming.
I was completely taken by surprise with Snoke's death, I thought that he was going to be the main antagonist of the sequel trilogy. Still, I really love Andy Serkis' motion capture and vocal performances as the Supreme Leader
Honorable mention The Emperor being thrown into the Death Star's core. Just hearing him screaming as he plummets to his demise was the most brutal way to kill off one of the major villains.
Does that really count as a death? I mean his soul was still transferred to his clone. Then again he only did that because his body was destroyed. So he had to die to do the transfer in the first place. IDK, the ramifications of body switching are complicated.
I feel like Darth Vader snapping a boy's neck without hesitation in Obi-Wan Kenobi was deeply disturbing cuz not only it came out of nowhere, but also it shows that Vader has ZERO remorse for anyone.
0:46 - Admiral Kendall Ozzel. 5:13 - Han Solo And Ben Solo. 6:48 - Count Dooku. 10:11 - Owen Lars And Beru Lars. 11:31 - Anakin Skywalker And Shmi Skywalker.
I always felt Ozzel was a rebel sympathizer. His slight shake of his head when they are going to invade Hoth and his trying to get Vader to not go there coming out of light speed early Han's death really got to me I actually cried out in the theater "no" not too loudly. 😄
How is the hallway scene from Rogue One not #1?! The rebels had no chance of survival and when Vader pulled away their blasters, all they could do is stand. That was brutal. Also the rancor eating the Gamorian was more brutal than Oola since you see that creature get crunched.
Funnily enough most of the deaths I’m thinking of are from tv shows. Also Rogue 1 and the Tuscans should be swapped. Watching all of the heroes die one by one was jarring to say the least. Cherit was the worst. But 4 3 and 2 all get worse the more context they get. Even Owen and Beru who I never cared about until Kenobi.
Dooku’s death was especially gruesome when Palpatine says Do it and Dooku just gives Anakin the pleading begging him not to do it look. Kind of makes me feel bad for the guy. Yes he was evil, but after he became disillusioned with the Jedi order he only followed the next path he thought was right and in the end to be betrayed by his master like that and killed was just grueling.
He wasn't sure if he was going to come back for Return of the Jedi. That is why they put the character in carbonite. Had he not returned he would have died from being frozen or stayed as a wall decoration.

You DEFINITELY need to do this lift for the shows…Adi Gallia’s death comes to mind for me, not because it’s partially brutal, but because I swore she was killed during order 66
Adi Gallia met her fate during her and Obi-Wan’s duel with Darth Maul and Savage Opress on Florrum. During Order 66, Commander Neyo of the 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps killed Stass Allie, Adi’s cousin.
Why isn’t Palpatine’s death in the Rise of Skywalker on this list. He was killed by his own granddaughter with his own lightning. Also not to mention his skin was literally peeled off because of the lightning
Interesting fact. The reason why Han was such a good pilot is because he was force sensitive. Also, Anakin killing the Tuskens in his fury was kind of a natural reaction because they were responsible for the Death of his Mother. Another thing most Star Wars fans probably know or probably don’t realize is that Anakin didn’t understand that his premonitions of Padme’s Death were a warning that if he turned to the Dark Side Padme would die as a result. Yoda even told him that he needed to be careful when sensing the future.
The novelization of Force Unleashed II explores the premonition issue in further detail. As I understand it, premonitions granted by the Force show potential outcomes in the future, but not necessarily the events and/or decisions leading up to those outcomes.

Anakin's Betrayal is the saddest star wars track ever
Growing up with 'original trilogy', being a 'grown man' (early '40's) I literally cried like a toddler when Han Solo died.......
You’re not the only one. I didn’t grow up on the OT and I’m only 19 but I still sobbed like a baby.

I would’ve thought the killing of the kids was more disturbing than the massacre of the Sandpeople; they did kill his Mom, after all.

I’m surprised that the people of WatchMojo acknowledged Jabba feeding his hot Twi’lek slave Oola, to his pet Rancor.
