I use the new 3ds XL . But I do love the 2ds as well. But it takes quite along time to load games and applications.
I really like the normal 2ds. The screen may be smaller but it looks a lot less pixelated than the 2ds xl one does. I also appreciate the price of the 2ds. I bought the green Zelda Ocarina of Time 2ds bundle for $80 and thought it was a great deal!

That's what I thought too. I saw the 2ds XL in store and thought the screen was very pixelated compared to my 2ds. That's why I love the smaller size screen. I know some people say that the screen is to tiny but I have never had a issue. And plus my gamboy color, advance sp, and D's lite where all great sizes in my opinion.

I think mentioning the 2DS XL's additional features would've been more informative than comparing its core design to the original 2DS. The XL variant is based on the New 3DS, except it doesn't have 3D and has a new design that's both smaller and lighter. The 2DS XL might be more expensive than the regular 2DS, but that's because it's the budget version of the New 3DS, which includes the built-in NFC reader (a huge selling point for anyone into collecting amiibos and using them in-game-so, for example, the 2DS XL would be ideal for Animal Crossing fans who would like to stay within a budget), a faster processor (which seems to be the primary reason why you personally like it), and access to New 3DS exclusive titles (yes, there are New 3DS exclusives other than Xenoblade Chronicles 3D) as well as the SNES virtual console (those games only run on the New 3DS line, which includes the New 2DS XL).
So yeah, I don't think the choice can or should be boiled down to "one is dirt cheap and comes with a free game while the other is faster and doesn't come with a free game." Makes sense as a subjective decision but since this video seems to aim at informing viewers, I'd say it did a bad job at that since it didn't factor the other features of the 2DS XL which actually make it far more attractive than the regular 2DS. Short-term, the regular 2DS's price sure is appealing but in the long run, the 2DS XL is the clear winner. It's important to remember that gaming should be treated as an investment at times.
Subjective opinion for subjective opinion, I'd recommend the 2DS XL because it's the budget version of the New 3DS. If y'all want the cool features of the New 3DS but can't spend that much, then the 2DS XL is certainly the way to go. And yes, those loading times will matter A LOT especially if you're looking to play the latest Pokemon generation (both the original games and the Ultra versions run terribly on old 3DS-line models during most battles, and I say that from experience). But additionally, you'll also be able to play some sweet SNES classics and New 3DS exclusives if you're ever inclined to play those. I hear Xenoblade Chronicles is wonderful-though I fail to see the appeal of a story-driven MMO design when so many actual MMOs have managed that direction of questing and grinding much better.
I want to play monster hunter! I’ve never played a game before but they seem soooo interesting!! Then the new 2ds xl is my best bet right???

It's got to be the New 2DS XL for me. A pocket friendly handheld is easy to take it with you anywhere. Plus that extra oomph in processing speed encourages me to check out the eShop more often.

I just got a 2ds for 30 dollars in perfect condition with the box and all the Mario special edition one. I don’t think they knew what they had there 😂 now I have a 3Ds , the poke ball 2ds XL and the Mario 2ds. I’m happy and can now stop ☺️
Just so you know, newer 2DS XL models come preinstalled with Mario Kart 7, so there IS a free game on both consoles now.
While the Switch has become my favorite portable console, I am still in love with the 3DS family. There are still plenty of games I have not finished, and the Pokeball New 2DS XL is what I'm currently playing games on.

Exacly its cheaper. For the price of new 2 ds xl you can get 2ds and 2 games (one included) and one of your choice and still a few bucks cheaper.
If you just want cheap gaming on the go the regular 2ds is great for its price
i have a 2ds and a new 3ds xl. The 2ds for nds games and Pokemon and new 3ds xl for monster hunter games the only reason i bought it.

overall when it came to the 2DS XL while the design did have the clamp shell gimmick and also came with the controls on the new 3DS XL, compared to the original 2DS it was night and day and I'm sorry to say it but even though the system was faster then the original 2DS the system still had the newer one beat when it came to quality, sturdiness, and comfort
Also can you do a comparison video of the 3ds vs the new 3ds vs the new 3ds xl, and another of the Nintendo DS, the DS Lite, and the DSi please??!!
2ds is perfect for children. Fairly cheap, very comfortable, and really durable.

just copped a fresh new 2ds xl today. was worth it . I was going to buy a New 3ds XL but i saw the 2ds and thought "hey this is pretty cheap" so i bought it and i don't regret it. And plus it does the exact same as a regular new 3ds xl.. Plus its cheaper.

For me, it comes down to price and build quality. My biggest reason for considering the 2DS is the build quality. I had the 3DS XL (Loved it) never used the 3D though, cause it ended up hurting my eyes after long periods of time. I feel that the clamshell design is just not good for long term. That hinge can only last so long.

I really like your videos, but there are some reasons why I still prefer old 2DS over the New 2DS :
- Form factor, I have DSi LL, GPD XD and the 2DS is way more comfortable for my hands (and I have small hands), using GPD XD or DSi LL for a longe time makes my hand hurt, specially if i'm playing games like Megaman.
- Screen size x resolution, the 2DS and 2DS XL have the same resolution (400x240 on upper screen and 340x240 on the lower screen) and the XL screen makes 2D and 3D games pixelated (same goes for DSi XL vs DS Lite), so the games looks better on old 2DS.
In this video you cannot see any scanlines in the old 2DS footage but in the New 2DS XL you can see scanlines + rainbow effect of the scanlines.
I have both im going to do a comparison between them at some point.

I have a switch but I have always wanted a 3ds to play games like ocarina of time or 3d land. I'm still deciding but either one would be a great thing for me, the 2ds is a lot cheaper, especially since I already have a switch. (and I'm not monetized LOL)

My New Nintendo 3DS XL is now stuffed and I really don’t wanna pay more than is necessary, so I’m honestly thinking of going with the 2DS. Like you said, it’s a throwback to the designs of a lot of handhelds back in the day. Even if it may be a little bit slower, as long as it does the same job, I’m happy.
Oh the 2ds came from Best Buy and the new one came from gamestop
The Nintendo original 2DS has a better joystick thing. The New 2ds XL's doesn't have the outside platform/ring that the og 2DS has. Makes it harder to stick to the pad Imo.
Another point for people who like grips with their portable console is that grips for the New 2DS XL are really easy to find on Amazon or eBay ... while if you are looking for a grip for an OG 2DS, most of what you will find will be another 2DS XL grip.
If they cut the price of the New 2DS XL to around $120, I'm upgrading ... otherwise I'm one the fence.
I got my 2ds xl 2 weeks ago, and booted up the e shop after the transfer, and was stunned when it booted up so fast! Really love the 2ds xl for me, the 2ds I had strained my eyes for some reason.

I’m getting a 2DS XL for Christmas (Black & Blue one). The two selling points are the larger screen sizes, and it can fit in my pocket. The original 2DS would be awesome for a kid, since it’s harder to break, but it’s impractical for someone who wants to take their 2DS out of the house sometimes.

Games look so much better on the original 2ds and 3ds. I own every iteration of the system except for the new 3ds which I believe they don't sell anymore.

They sell grips for the 2ds xl that act like an Xbox remote, making it more comfortable to hold. If you’re worried about hand cramps with the new 2ds, don’t be because a grip solves the problem

not sure why but I enjoy my DS/3DS line of games more than my switch. Even after having the original 2ds, 2ds XL, 3ds xl, new 3ds xl, switch, and ps4 pro I game the most on my 2ds xl because of it's size, weight, folding design to protect screen in my pocket, and laundry list of games in the library for it. Nintendo switch is a great system and has a lot of good games. I enjoy the indie games I found for it. Right now on my Switch I've been playing Fernz Gate from the Eshop which I am loving and I am also playing Dragonball Fighter Z and Rocket League. I know I need to play BoTW and Odyssey and they are both up on the shelf right now but atm I am having a lot of fun with these indie games. I'm sure lots of people will say I'm crazy but I've never really played JRPGs before and for me it's all new and a breath of fresh air. Also never thought I'd like Rocket League but its actually tons of fun!
put a IPS screen on the 2ds, and make it a New2ds model and I would really like it. But I would pick the new3dsxl as my choice because i really like 3d when i can use it

New 2DS XL. Recently purchased one and its great. Other than the tiny stylus. Its much faster than the flat 2DS. Dual-core 266 MHz ARM11 MPCore processor vs Quad-core 804 MHz ARM11 MPCore processor. Can play all the New 3DS exclusive titles. Bigger screen. Upper: 3.53" vs 4.88" and Lower: 3.02" vs 4.18". Better button layout and more compact clam shell design.

I as originally gonna get the 2ds because it’s cheaper but then I felt my friends and didn’t like the small screen and feel but when I played my friends new Nintendo 3ds xl I love the clamshell design and loved the feel but didn’t care about the 3D feature so the 2ds xl was the perfect 3ds for me
Honestly im gonna get the 2ds xl, because im used to it. I would play on my brothers ds and the new 3ds xl. But those broke and i didnt even now how it play it ( i was like 4-6 ) so yeah id go with the clamshell. And its like a mini laptop!! Not really though

2DS is perfect for me. One has a bigger screen and the other is more sturdy. I prefer the longer lasting sturdy one.

I hope they keep 3ds alive (now with new 2ds xl) it is great portable gaming machine. Fits in pocket.
2ds costs half price (you need to count 40 for the free game) while new 2 ds xl costs twice (because no game) so if you are on tight bugdet the 2ds is a great deal.
But personally Id recommend new 2 ds xl since its better overall and fits easier in pocket on the go

Sandslashy I had the original 2ds and upgraded to the 2ds xl not too long ago and the upgrade was nice but one big thing that kinda bothered me was on the xl you notice the pixels more cuz the screen is bigger where the original kept the image looking clean. If you want performance I’d recommend the xl but if you want a cheap quality handheld like ray mentioned I would go for the original 2ds

I sold my nintendo 2ds for the 2ds xl and regretted it because the 2ds had better ergonomics 😔 plus the 2ds xl top screen is flimsy and feels like it can break from a simple drop, the original 2ds was built like an absolute tank!!!!

Er...wouldn't really say that the extra speed of the New 2DS/3DS starts blurring the line between it and smartphones. The original 3DS/2DS hardware is equivalent to a Internet Tablet or (later) smartphone from 2007-2009 while the New 3DS/2DS is just slightly better than that.
Nice video though, I personally just wish we could get that pretty white and lavender New 2DS over here...........

Once you use the 2ds, go to the new 2ds xl, and then go back to the 2ds, the normal 2ds feels very uncomfortable and awkward knowing that the xl version has a bigger screen

I’d say I love the switch, but the New 2DS XL is my personal favorite due to nostalgia reasons, I’d also say the Original as well. But let’s face it people no longer like that systems and so do I.

I don't own a 2ds or 2ds xl but my 3ds xl and Nintendo DS are loose, that's why I have to keep them tilted at a slight angle so they don't wiggle as much.
My 2ds xl fell a few times and the hinges are still good it's the screens that are sentive
Been looking at second hand 2ds xl consoles and three of them out of five so far have cracked hinges.
