- I'm up early for the dawn chorus and enjoy the colour changing sky, and then the rising sun over the hills of the peak district. I'm surrounded by new life! Ducklings and goslings. I take a walk into woodland and discover a rare native white albino bluebell!
And there's jobs to be done as a boater, from washing up to getting dirty servicing my boat engine.
The Journey started here... I once lived in the fast lane of life, happily married of 26 years, with two children. That chapter was suddenly shattered by the sudden loss of my wife to cancer, which led me in to depression and homelessness. Waking up in hospital, after attempting to take my own life, with just a suitcase, kayak and bicycle and no money, I've managed to rise up out of the darkness and find happiness and continue my next chapter.
I'm a self taught film maker, and creating these vlogs, it gives me something to do, share my personal experiences as I continue my journey cruising and living life on the canal. Please do consider supporting my channel below... Thank you Dave

Dave, I have to admit that your smooth video pans provide such a great relief to the incredibly anxiety inducing shaky-cam crap that has completely taken over tv productions these days. I love that you name the flowers and animals. Perhaps you could name the trees too. We don’t have these where we are so it’s good to learn what we’re looking at. They are all so lovely and made me smile from ear to ear watching them and listening to all the sounds of nature. Amazing video as always!

but gliding through the countryside in a narrowboat I do.😆
I also love nature, I'm out of bed at 4 am, coffee in hand and sit outside,
waiting for the sun to come out
This. kind of life just feeds the soul to capacity.
David you put the kettle on the gas, could you not leave it
on the wood, it would keep it hot, and you wouldn't use much gas to bring o boil

As someone who lives part time off grid in a little cabin by a river, I know the extra work it takes and how rewarding it is. Before I lost my fiance 5 years ago, we had a slow cruiser and dreams of doing the intracoastal waterways. Now my dream is an RV touring my country of Canada with my kayak....not quite the same as planned but nature is always there to inspire, heal us and help us pivot as required ❤🙏 Just a guy named Dave...thank you! Hi Dave, last December I caught Covid and was quite ill during January, February and March, during that time I watched your videos back to back and have done so multiple times.
As a Thames based boater myself, watching yours during the winter was a great source of comfort and was what kept me going through some horrible times.
My covid turned into long covid and it took me six months to recover. I’ve just watched your latest, sat on the back of my own boat, listening to the evening bird song, now fully recovered.

I was looking for details about your camera gear, and on one of your vlogs you mention that it is at the bottom of every vlog, but I can't find it on any of them.

Who built these canals when and how?
The canals were built hundreds of years ago, they were the transport route in Britain before trains, goods were sent off in boats pulled by horses which is why there is a towpath by each canal as the horses pulled the boats loaded with goods to be sold. The canals are now used by people who live on their boats fulltime or you can hire a boat for holidays and travel along the canal routes which are thousands of miles through Britain.
