Ever wondered how to wear a Scottish Kilt? Well, our Master Tailor from the Royal Regiment of Scotland knows all the answers in this fun video. Come learn something new today!
Absolute belter of a video, that means all those kilt makers are going to have to change their advice! Great to see those who have been 'through it' allowed to continue their service!
I'm an American who goes to Scottish festivals here in the US quite a bit. You wouldn't believe how many people here will buy a kilt and wear it without bothering to learn _how._ I've even seen guys wearing them backwards.
An American lady tourist was visiting Edinburgh when she spied a kilted piper busking on Princes Street. She'd always been intrigued by the age-old question so she approached the piper. 'Excuse me, sir, I've always wanted to know what a Scotsman wears under his kilt.' ''Well, madam, put your hand under and find out.' She does so and puts her hand on his soft and sloppy wedding equipment then screams, 'Oh, that's gruesome.' Jock replies, 'Aye, madam. Put your hand in there again. It's grew some more.'
@@FredSmith-s5t I've telling it and re-telling it for 50/60 years now and it still works on the young 'uns. Along with catching fresh haggis, early in the morning, though most take the latter as a true story.
The only people who play in pipe bands who wear their sporrans sideways are drummers mainly because the sporran would get in the way, the reason I know this is because I am in a pipe band as a piper. Thought the video was really funny.
In the Third Foot and Mouth, there are only two reasons why underwear is allowed to be worn. 1. Church Parade, and 2. Gymnastics Display. And then only when Ladies are to be present!
I joined in Stirling but avoided the Argylls because I just couldn't see myself in a kilt..😅 I joined the RA instead. I will say something though I saw the Argylls at Redford Bks one time on parade & they were very smart. Think I'd rather wear Trews like some Regiments did, Royal Scots- Royal Highland Fusiliers -KOSB I probably haven't got the legs for a kilt anyway 😂
As a member of Bydand Forever: the Gordon Highlanders of 1882 out of San Diego. A representation of the Gordon Highlanders during the Anglo-Egyptian war I have been trained. BTW, I have 7 kilts.
That was great but please inform your mates at Edinburgh castle about the length of the kilt also they wear under wear while on normal duty it's only when they wear battle dress or full dress are they suppose to have nothing on under there
When a Scotsman was asked by an American lady "tell me, what;s worn under the kilt" he replied "madam, nothing is worn, it's all in perfect working order"
Hope I'm not offending anyone, but I just ordered a Black Watch tartan. I am of Scottish descent and was in the American army for 29 years. It is for a Robert Burns formal dinner. Am I good? My ancestry goes back to the likes of Malcom III and some MacKay, MacAlpin's, Davidsons, Campbell's, and a few others.
Grant tartan was used by the Black Watch Regiment, but the Campbell, Fraser, and Munro Clans were all part of the first Black Watch Regiment. So i think you’re well entitled to wear the tartan my friend. 🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸
I know the closed captioning is helpful but I found it best to mute the sound and read the CC. Bless their hearts but they might as well be speaking Klingon.
Colours , sorry mate but how can you teach anyone anything about kilts when you can’t even pronounce ‘Plaid’ correctly ? I kneel on the floor and when the hem of the kilt is just touching the floor, neatly all round, then I know it’s right.
“I don’t wear a dress!” This will stay with me! 😂 Love from Saskatchewan, Canada!❤
Absolutely fabulous and a real hoot and subtitles so helpful to we softie southerners.
Thank you RayM!
Softy southerners 😂
Softy... Peak for yasen. Must be south of Surrey
Since the time of the Romans, never mock a soldier in a skirt
Absolute belter of a video, that means all those kilt makers are going to have to change their advice! Great to see those who have been 'through it' allowed to continue their service!
As a scotswoman... absolutely brilliant! Thankyou!
I was told once that "Nothing is worn under a kilt, it's all in good working condition!"
1000% better than the videos at the @britisharmy channel
Scotland for ever! from France!
We Scot’s are the best dressed regiments in the British Army, and thanks by the way.🇬🇧🏴
I'm an American who goes to Scottish festivals here in the US quite a bit. You wouldn't believe how many people here will buy a kilt and wear it without bothering to learn _how._ I've even seen guys wearing them backwards.
I can believe it! I’ll keep a weather eye out for that at the next Highland Games I go to next year.
Interesting and clever with humor!
Fabulous video guys, the British Army needs the Jocks 🏴🏴🏴🏴

A quite old Scot joke but it still works!

Brilliant!!!
@@JaneWakeley-eg2od Thank you. Hope it made ya laugh.
SCOTLAND FOREVER!!!

Dapper Jock's - Great video folks
Thanks for recording this.
Is it customary for sergeants, all around the world, especially Scottish ones of the British Army, to frown like staff sergeant Benson here? 😅😆
A “Carry on up the Khyber” moment there at the end! 😂
In the Third Foot and Mouth, there are only two reasons why underwear is allowed to be worn.
1. Church Parade, and
2. Gymnastics Display.
And then only when Ladies are to be present!
In typical British army humour style, well done 🇬🇧
In the Argylls in the 1950s the kilt did not have straps to hold it up. It had two pins.
I never realised kilts were held up with suspenders. But jabbing them onto the body with pins is just mental.
I joined in Stirling but avoided the Argylls because I just couldn't see myself in a kilt..😅

The Scots have always been fighters and the backbone of the British Army and long may it continue, just saying 👊🇬🇧😎👍
Nothing is worn under the kilt, it's all in perfect working order!
Excellent! this Sassenach appreciated the lesson!
This was cute - informative, but cute! And to have a Real Scotsman do the narration is only fitting (and, YES, thanks for the translation!).
That was brilliant, and the mystery continues……
This was quality. Historic, humorous, helpfully and wholesome ❤
What a great video! Loved learning about this part of Scottish culture and British Army tradition.
Thanks! Loved it. (Former US Army NCO.)
😂 absolute pure Gold! Thanks Lads.
😂😂😂😂 nicely done!
Was taught as Q.O.Highlander (Seaforth & Cameron) in 1961. Fort George. Never forgot.
Argylls - the original "Thin red line of 'eroes" - despite imitation.
Great video, thank you 😊
Well done Benny.
Aye, now that there is a King sitting on the Throne, ye lads may now go Commando! OoooRah! From a retired USMC Officer.
Bloody marvellous bonnie lads
Brilliant 😂
That last part that didn't get filmed. Don't sweat it. I was about to have breakfast. 😎👍
Sometimes a sausage is just a sausage.
alas, i don't have the legs for it.
😂😂 well done!

The subtitles 🫡
Didn't know the sporran was worn so high
Is the finding nemo prosthetic up to parade standard?😂
🐠 🐟🐡🎏
Maybe not, but Kudo’s to the soldier who is still able to serve wearing a Nemo prosthetic.
I totally agree. He's absolutely GORGEOUS 💗💗
well that was enough to cover the details
Strong work Boys!!! I am still laughing
Merci belle video
I loved this.
There's a lot of Nigels on here
That was great but please inform your mates at Edinburgh castle about the length of the kilt also they wear under wear while on normal duty it's only when they wear battle dress or full dress are they suppose to have nothing on under there
I wore a kilt once but I was allowed to keep my underpants on as a was "dragging weed" as they say.
When a Scotsman was asked by an American lady "tell me, what;s worn under the kilt" he replied "madam, nothing is worn, it's all in perfect working order"
oh guys i realy want to know i, am forginer but now i cant sleep without answer :-D
Let's just say. Beware of long heather n gorse bushes.
It will cost you a dram and a nice wee lassie to find out.
G^d bless our Jocks!
Easy to run in mountains ..
Is there anything worn underneath ?
Why do officers and Warrant Officers wear a blue shirt when in shirt sleeve order? The history I mean.

You can wear the tartan, but you may be of Scottish descent, but if you aren't born here you aren't a Scot.
Never claimed to be a "Scot"; just of Scottish descent. @@226-y9h
Kilt 😍
Brilliant! 😂
Only drummers wear kilts sideways, not pipers because the drums would get in the way.
Classic wooden skulls from Kenya
Yooooooo
Oooooo suit you sir
❤🇬🇧🫡💂♀️🏴✅️👌
Nice Scottish skirts you have there, lads!
That's nay a skirt it's a Kilt
Just ask your wife.

Ridiculous Victorian rag 😂😂😂😂😂
Free Scotland!
From what?
Why should any British man join the British army? The army doesn't want British men anymore. I've seen their adverts.
"Under My Kilt"? My shoes. Silly question.
Awesome video, 🍺🫵🤟🇨🇦🫡🏴🤟🫵🍺
