I'd actually recommend not going for the white arabian and instead going for the black arabian as soon as you hit chapter 2 and unlock stables. You can head straight to Saint Denis, where you'll be looking for a random encounter at night (a couple being robbed). They'll have a black arabian with them, which you can steal quite easily. (Just look out that lawmen don't catch you, that was a pain in the ass and a half) The black arabian has the exact same stats as the white arabian, with the exception of one point more in health and stamina, it unlocks at the same time, and it costs nothing as well, which is why I think it's a better option. Be prepared to spend a bit of time wandering around Saint Denis (I think I got the encounter on my third night there), but I'm assuming that you're ready to go through a bit of suffering for a good horse if you would climb on a mountain in the middle of goddamn nowhere for the white arabian :D
I did this on my second playthrough. I didn't know about this on my first one. I need to say that's a pleasant surprise that we can get the second best horse between the Arabians for free right after you unlock the open world instead of need to wait until chapter 4 and pay for it.
I didn't know about the horse part but when this encounter happened i accidentally shot the lady instead of the robber because it was dark and I wasn't very good at quick drawing.
The Missouri Fox Trotter is the best horse in the game. Speed of 7 and isn't scared off by predators or gunfire. It also doesn't complain as much as the Arabian.
Michael M 100% agree. Just started chapter 3 and my 9sp, 7acl, 8hlth, 9stm, max bond silver dappled has been unbelievably durable, loyal and godly fast. Been bucked off only once when those freaky fast walking voodoo people around the Lakay marsh came out of the fog and started knifing me and my horse. Startled the hell outta me.
Well my Fox Trotter is a bit scary. But only level so far. I find the Turkoman a solid option. I love the speed of the black Arabian though. it feels faster than the aforementioned ones. But I dont like its behaviour. I had a silver Mustang, with a black stripe on its back, really beautiful horse, but a bit slow.
What’s funny is I have the rose grey Arabian and the Missouri Fox Trotter and my Fox trotter spooks easier and complains more the my Arabian. My Arabian hasn’t bucked me or run off when bumping into any predators. Even when I first bought him. My Fox trotter has and I loathe that animal.
Arabians are fast, but spook easy and take forever to calm down. The best horse is the Gold Turkoman followed by the Missouri Fox Trotter. Both are extremely fast can have maxed out stamina with the proper equipment and are very healthy. The Turoman being a war horse doesn’t spook as easily and calms down fast.
Honestly the white arabian i have took quite a while to get used to the shooting and stuff but once you get into lvl 4 bonding it doesn’t spook quite as easy, amazing stats tho
Thanks for the advices! I stick with Gold Turkoman since chapter 4. However, I am now struggling with the choice between Missouri Fox Trotter and Grey Bay Arabian during the epilogue! I think I am sure which one I want to give it a try right now!
The Arabians are a pain in the arse. They're scared of their own shadows! You spend half your time calming them down or getting thrown off. The Turkoman and Foxtrotter are the only real choices.
I caught and calmed the Arabian in less then 40 seconds. But definitely not the best horse I've came across. I would have to say that award goes to the mustang.
@@BuckNuts-fp6kn I took about the same time to catch and break the white Arabian. Horse breaking is so simple this time around. But it was useless in gunfights & with nearby predators: especially snakes.
@NobleThaGoat Not the same courage they don't. My Arabian bucks me off over a rabbit running by, my Mustang (and fox trotter) have never bucket me of, he even kicked a boar rushing me
@NobleThaGoat no that is not true i saw a test both his horses and same bond level he shot a bullet and the arabain took so long to calm down he calmd it himseft the fox trotter was calm on himself
I have a rose Arabian fully bonded it’s not bad for exchange of the best stats but you’re right, the Foxtrotter is another dope horse & don’t get spooked so easily.
Yup, I’m still stuck to the Raven black shire like GLUE, I named him “Brutus” ^_^ I’ve actually been scared of him getting killed in some sort of ambush so I’ve been switching him out often. And that’s because I’ve had this game since 2019
My fried rode my raven black off a cliff ;-; I played the game again just to get it back, but i lost it in the epilogue... idk how to fix it so I’ll stick with a white arabian for now.
My favorite horse in the game right now is the Dutch Warmbloods. Say what you want about their speed. I can ride one of them from Saint Denis all the way to Valentine without running out of stamina. There also really good for hunting. I personally like huge towering horses as well.
Mine was really nice, I had the black Arabian, and I was almost done getting it fully bonded, and then during the part where you're driving a train for Penelope braithwaite, it ran in front of the train and died. So yeah, they are kind of dumb, but they are good
Bere Dore that sucks man. I had the black one as well as the white one. They’re not bad horses, but they’re afraid of everything and they’re not that tuff.
The mustang is amazing because of war and work typing. Great health, stamina, and almost never bucks.....like ever. If you never want to get bucked get a mustang.
If you want the Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox Trotter you can get it in chapter two by doing the Arcadia for Amateurs missions. you have to get to the third mission in the set and it takes some planning. Step 1. Go to the Arcadia for Amateurs III mission and continue normally. Step 2. After he takes the picture start tracking the herd. Step 3. Skip the cutscene and be ready to start eagle eye to start tracking the herd again. Step 4. Get on your horse and follow the trail to the herd, and make sure to keep tracking as you chase them. (It will take a bit to catch up.) Disclaimer: When you are tracking the Missouri Fox Trotter, it will just say "Horse", and also if the trail turns into just one trail you are chasing the right horse. Step 5. Once you catch up to the horse you will need to jump on it from your horse, you will not be able to lasso or calm it down. Step 6. Tame the horse and enjoy your Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox Trotter. Warning: The correct trail will take you near a river, you will know the horse when you see it. This may take a few tries but if you want a Missouri Fox Trotter this is how you get it for free. Be sure to save when you start the Arcadia for Amateurs mission so you get the trail. When you get off the Fox Trotter put your Saddle on it, you may not be able to get back on, that is fine just save the game and reload. Good luck!
My problem with the gold Turkoman is that it’s the same as Sadie’s horse and I like Arthur’s horse to be unique That’s why I don’t prefer the white Arabian because Dutch’s horse is a white Arabian Edit: I realize the count ain’t Arabian. I hope we could know exactly the breed of each gang members’ horse
The silver coat Turkoman is cool because I like to sort of insert lore and say "Silver Dollar was transferred around for a while after Hosea's death, but eventually John found him in Tumbleweed."
A lot of people claim that the Arabians are much more skittish then the other horses. I agree with this as since I switched to using a fox trotter I am calming a lot less and chasing after it A lot less. This puts all Arabians much lower on my list. Thoughts? I so wish horse breeding was a way for making money honorably, lets hope for online.
why to chase a horse when you can call it.. lol ! you guys complain about losing horses..it never happend to me:)) you just call the horse to you and he fallows you until you tell him to stop. learn the game better boys !

Hey Mr. Boss. I had captured the brown leopard Appaloosa in the wild and took it back to camp. I don't know if anyone realizes this, but this horse is actually Taima, Charles' horse in a brown version. It has the same exact markings on the body and same exact leg coloration if you really study them together. The only difference is, the brown version has the white spot on it's forehead and the grey does not. Just didn't know if anyone noticed this or not. I wanted to share this.i thought it was sooo cool when I found out.
1. Tennessee walker mahogany, 1 of the kind. 2. Free black Shire, 1 of the kind. 3. Dutch warmblood buell, 1 of the kind. 4. Missouri fox trotter silver dapple, fan favourite. 5. Turkoman cerberus...in the top 2 fan favourite breeds.
So I wasn't too sure about this game as didnt play the first one so I brought it last night anyway and found myself 16 hours still playing it. Best game I've played in years
*The only two “Horses” that I want are either a Mule or a Donkey, as soon as I found out they were in the game I got them and took them to the stables... only to find out Rockstar* *fricken fracken clicken clacken decided to make them the only “Horses” that you cant stable and keep!*
Actually.........The horses you can find with Charles around Beaver Hollow- you can’t stable them, or bond with them before taking your saddle off your main horse, and putting it on that one. And you can’t find those coats anywhere else either.
You can get the Silver Dapple Pinto MFT in chapter 2 by doing the 3rd Albert Mason stranger mission where you chase the horse for a photograph. It's a little tedious since you need to keep it on "track" while the mission is finishing and it gets quite a bit of distance, but it's worth it.
I don’t really think about horses in terms of best or worst. If I’m riding around in Denis, I use an Arabian which is smaller and sharp handling. If I’m going hunting or “off the trail”, or even wanting to get in gun fights, I switch to my Turkoman. Just switch your horses based off of activity. Problem solved.
I love the ardennes for their lower pitched neighs. sounds menacing. I also love the raven black shire! Shires Are probably the best when it comes to intense situations.
I'd take the brindle over the Arabian any day, they are such amazing horses - and their low stats are easily fixed with bonding. My brindle Athens was by far the best horse I've had over my five playthroughs.
For those of who who had trouble finding the White Arabian like me, keep in mind you MUST complete the hunting mission with Hosea back at camp that opens after chapter 2 starts..
@@bboi5845 Did Fetching him is the first stranger mission. Finish the first mission, and you can steal the horse. Come back for any of the other 3 stranger missions and you can take Buell from in front of the house (but no missions then). It's worth going through the missions, the guy is fun to hunt & fish with.
Top 3 horses: 1st Missouri fox trotter - best overall 2nd Rose grey arabian - best stats 3rd Any turkoman - best in a gun fight Those are the ones id actually use. Until they patch it you can find any of them at the location in sainy denis.
@@Nick_24bean if you dont want to use the exploit in saint denis and get it for free then you can buy it in the blackwater stable. Which means you have to be in the epilogue or all the way through the gams.
@@Nick_24bean Just use the spawn location above Saint Denis. I got every horse with every different kind of coat to spawn there. Including all the Fox Trotters. In chapter 2.
Yeah good thing I got all 3 fully maxed out in my stables, use them all during different situations. If I’m traveling all the way across the map I need to pull out my Arabian.
That american paint is actually a wonderful horse to have. It's got great stamina, it levels up very fast, and has a really good temper allowing you to calm it easier and will follow commands without hesitation.
idk why people usually go for the fastest horses, the game isn't racing horses, you don't need a fast horse to play the game, best horses are usually the ones that has lots of stamina and health, speed is not really a big deal when you're in need of a good riding horse.
And with that said, I think the Ardennes feel prety fast for such a heavy horse. It feels faster than many a horse with better speed and accelaration stats. And their demeanour is great as well.
Fun fact you can actually steal Buell. After you retrieve him for Hamish, you will pass the mission and Hamish will ride away with Buell. When he does you just have to catch up with him and when I rode my horse next to his, it gave me the option to do that thing where Arthur jumps on someone's horse and kicks the owner off. Hamish fell on the ground and he just ran away and then Buell was my horse. Thought I reloaded my previous save because I felt like a jerk and I did the missions until I *actually* got the horse.
Ok, honestly I would like to argue that the Dutch warmblood is probably the better choice. The Dutch warmblood may not be as fast but it has more stamina its health is overall better and, it isn't fearful of snakes and smaller threats. My Dutch and I ran through a battle and she wasn't very scared... Honestly I think Dutch warmbloods are much better horses.
Typically late to the party - I found an apparently rare RED Arabian... it is redder than any red horse you've ever seen - almost fire-engine red but a bit darker. Pretty cool looking. I broke it - same level of difficulty as the white one but REALLY hard to calm down [had to follow it for a half-mile as it keeps running away. It was hanging with two Thoroughbreds as well. Found it on the NorthWEST side of Lake Owanjila [the West side... as in across the creek, south of where the cougars spawn] - near to practically sheer cliff-sides [was afraid it was going to fall instead of slide down the shale-like rock]. After I broke him, he was 6x5 and after fully bonding it was maxed pretty much. Anyone else seen this Red Arabian? Now for the Thoroughbred. ;-)
I loooove the red one. I had no idea it existed because no one talks about it and was so happy when I stumbled across it on my 4th play through lol. They also have a Warped Brindle Arabian, just north of the Wapiti Indian reservation! It's pretty much chillin on top of a mountain. The red one is my favorite though
The Arabians might be the fastest but like real Arabians they tend to be very nervous. I tamed the white one and I really liked it but he was constantly nervous and afraid of everything. Nice detail though to include typical race traits like some horses are more durable, sturdy or agile.
you can get the Black Arabian for free, available from chapter 2. Just go to Saint Denise around 1 am (night), and you will encounter a man trying to rob a woman, doesn't matter if you help or not, right next to her you can just mount the horse and there you go - a free Black Arabian early in the game.
The Missouri Fox Trotter is my favourite. I was lucky enough to find one randomly in the bushland injured and abandoned with a saddle on. No one was near it, no rider or person. I gave it some medicine and took him (didn’t get a bounty). Great horse! ❤️
Ryan Van Eyck Yeah But it’s realistic. the horses would have died of old age by the time the epilogue starts or the stable owner would have sold off the horses seeing as the owner hasn’t returned/paid the bill. I didn’t mind this. I didn’t have any of the nice looking horses until the epilogue.
I love watching RDR2 movies, even though I don't play this game myself. I'm just blown away with the attention to details I see here; not only on the horses (I mean, look at the hair on those tails and how they seem to blow in the wind), but the environment as well; footprints, damp over the snow on fir trees. And even plants with collision? This game man... it really does it.
@@astrothunder3580 I was saving up for a Switch and the Dual pack for Sword and Shield. I lately also bought X and Y. I might be able to play RDR2, if you know the money cheat for life. ;)
tbh for me getting the white arabian was super easy, and finding it was definitely the least of my problems. one you mount the horse just spam square or x and move the left analog stick down rapidly for like 10-15 seconds
The good but also bad thing about the brindle thouroughbred is that it doesn't complain when you start running it into the ground, from what I've noticed while riding it it'll let you drain it's stamina to nothing and keep going
I paid like 1k for the best horse I've seen in this game, a black arabian I was like so proud of it. But then I noticed it keeps getting agitated by.. everything.. even a bird flying overhead makes it scared. I thought I had a bug or some shit. But after dying a few times because the god damn horse either bucks you off because you shoot a damn revolver or runs off to hell when you need it close to make a quick escape, I shot it to hell then burnt its useless body. Like an Iphone these arabians, overpriced pieces of shit.
The Gold Turkoman was the best for me. Right after I bought him I ran into a wolf a grizzly and a cougar, one right after the other. The wolf came up on the left front, I stopped my horse and The Turk man stood there as I put an improved arrow into the wolfs face with barely enough time to kill the charging grizzly on the front right in the same way and two Turkoman lengths away where he dropped, the Turk man stood there, then I noticed the cougar weaving his way between the Turk mans legs and I shot him in the face right below my right foot, finishing the 5 cougars with a bow challenge and he never impeded my shot, Never made it difficult for me to dispatch the enemies. Never got dumped by him and when he started to get nervous on the trail I paid attention because something was up and he could smell it. He was all balls
I don't understand why everyone is saying that Arabians are so skittish. All horses are skittish when they are only level 1 or 2 bonding. I found out that the Turkoman is actually more skittish than the Arabian when at 3 or 4 bonding. But the Missouri Fox Trotter in my opinion is the best
Buell is my favorite horse. His shiny golden coat shines elegantly in the sun & rain, and the fate of his original owner Hamish makes Buell even better. And I love him even better because I'm a suckered for palomino horses.
Horses are just one of the best parts of the immersion and having the best stats doesn't much matter. For some reason my favorite horse was the first I ended up riding around on. After getting a full bond with it and then trying out an Arabian I realized the Arabian was a drama queen by comparison. The Arabians get so freaked out by everything that patting them every 10 seconds gives you a boost. My first horse would ride anywhere with me and it would also answer my call by coming right up to me. It wouldn't run away in battle and it wouldn't buck me when surrounded by predators. IDK if this was just luck or something but this was not the case with my other horses. My Arabians will get me where I'm going a little faster but they don't seem as brave.. They buck me now and then fighting predators and I almost always have to run up to meet them some ways after calling them to me. The real difference in horse speeds is hard to see IMO.. When I ride a Morgan I swear sometimes it's going just as fast.
i like the black arabian. In my experience it doesn't matter what horse you use, if a cougar or enough bullets fly around you even with max bond they'll buck you off. The placebo is so bad with people about bucking off its laughable. I'm traveling around the map to get treasures, stone carvings, fossils, cigarette cards it just doesn't even matter about the small times i get bucked off by any horse anyways.
My fox trotter kicked the hell out of a wolf, insta kill it when I was on land, trying to hunt a perfect buck near Cumberland Forest.. I was very surprised though.. 😂
My favorite was the Black Arabian, unfortunately the end of Arthur's story kinda took her away. I don't know why so many people have issues with the Arabian, mine was pretty calm and I only got bucked once
I like how he says “oh it’s so easy to tame them” it took my three different tries in chapter 2 and 3 to get this thing. It annoyed me enough that I almost shot it lol
That's not true. The statement where he says the horse is available the second you get in chapter 2. That's incorrect. I know cause I tried to find this horse at that very time as soon as I could free roam. This horse does not spawn until you go with Hosea to get the legendary Grizzly Bear. Once you unlock the ability to hunt legendary animals then the white Arabian spawns
In my experience there is a horse that is harder to find (1 mission excluded) than any mentioned here... Justice, my Piebald Tobiano Hungarian Halfbred. Not the greatest of stats but a good looking war horse and very rare.
It's so rare! It doesn't spawn in the wild and I've never seen it at camps. You get it in either a mission in Chapter 3 or in another mission in Chapter 5
I kept the black shire from the early game where it's given to you for free for just a short mission. Then you have the option to sell it or keep it. I kept it. It has been my trusted and strong companion from then on. I also kept the grey shire from a later mission where you steal it to flee. I just love these big horses! No great speed or anything, but they are just awesome! :)
The raven black shire you get early on in chapter 2, which you are given an option of keeping, stabling or selling. It's the only raven black shire in the game and is a proper bad ass.
he's looking at the stat bars. it's gotten to the point where i don't even want Arabians in my stable (at least for the story mode) since they're skiddish and haul ass at any sign of danger. I replaced them with the fox trotter and turkomen.
@@scarface2307 no which is why the game has different types. lets say you get into a shootout or fire off your weapon all horses are going to become agitated, but the work and war multibreed become calm quicker than the Arabian, another example if you hunting and come across a snake you can damn walk on top the thing and still be fine while an Arabian your going to see that flashing red exclamation mark and raising your chances of getting bucked and your horse running off. the higher your bonding the less likely this occurs but when top predators come you better hit the ground running.
You can get the black Arabian for free, there’s a randomly generated event that happens at 12:00 am on the street of saint denis, a couple is getting attacked by a bandit and they have a black horse, it’s the arabian

You can definitely ride a donkey in the game. I’m not sure if it’ll bond with you but you can ride it!
kuromii Sorry I didn't mean to send that 🤣🤣 xd
Ig I’m the only one that got super attached to the first horse you get in the game lol
I literally used the black shire from when I get it to starting to chapter 4
Not the only one, on the first campsite I found there was a few spotted Appaloosa, and I use her all the time
Still using the one I got from the Adler’s farm

My favorite horse in the game right now is the Dutch Warmbloods. Say what you want about their speed. I can ride one of them from Saint Denis all the way to Valentine without running out of stamina. There also really good for hunting. I personally like huge towering horses as well.
Male or female horses?…
The Arabians are like the stuck up chicks in the club. They look good, but they aren’t really worth the trouble
Mikey TK facts
My Arabian was worth it fym.
Mikey TK debatable
The mustang is amazing because of war and work typing. Great health, stamina, and almost never bucks.....like ever. If you never want to get bucked get a mustang.
It looks pretty good too
Never used anything else since I got the based tigerstripe
Yeah, Mustang and Turkoman are the best horses imo. Maybe the fox trotter too
If you never want to get bucked off, get the Ardennes war horse. If you pre-ordered the game it is free and it is also really bulky
Turkoman doesn’t buck off either
If you want the Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox Trotter you can get it in chapter two by doing the Arcadia for Amateurs missions. you have to get to the third mission in the set and it takes some planning.
Step 1. Go to the Arcadia for Amateurs III mission and continue normally.
Step 2. After he takes the picture start tracking the herd.
Step 3. Skip the cutscene and be ready to start eagle eye to start tracking the herd again.
Step 4. Get on your horse and follow the trail to the herd, and make sure to keep tracking as you chase them. (It will take a bit to catch up.)
Disclaimer: When you are tracking the Missouri Fox Trotter, it will just say "Horse", and also if the trail turns into just one trail you are chasing the right horse.
Good luck!
Nothing worse then accidentally riding ur horse off a cliff in the middle of nowhere, and realizing you have no reviver.
Or crash in another horse at high speed
My problem with the gold Turkoman is that it’s the same as Sadie’s horse and I like Arthur’s horse to be unique
That’s why I don’t prefer the white Arabian because Dutch’s horse is a white Arabian
Edit: I realize the count ain’t Arabian. I hope we could know exactly the breed of each gang members’ horse
AK they all die so you’ll be the only unique person

A lot of people claim that the Arabians are much more skittish then the other horses. I agree with this as since I switched to using a fox trotter I am calming a lot less and chasing after it A lot less. This puts all Arabians much lower on my list. Thoughts? I so wish horse breeding was a way for making money honorably, lets hope for online.

Hey Mr. Boss. I had captured the brown leopard Appaloosa in the wild and took it back to camp. It has the same exact markings on the body and same exact leg coloration if you really study them together. The only difference is, the brown version has the white spot on it's forehead and the grey does not. Just didn't know if anyone noticed this or not.
Johnny Appleseed the Arabian isn’t that small but true it is easy to handle

idk why people usually go for the fastest horses, the game isn't racing horses, you don't need a fast horse to play the game, best horses are usually the ones that has lots of stamina and health, speed is not really a big deal when you're in need of a good riding horse.

Typically late to the party -
I found an apparently rare RED Arabian... it is redder than any red horse you've ever seen - almost fire-engine red but a bit darker.

Fox Trotter uber alles
My favorite was the Black Arabian, unfortunately the end of Arthur's story kinda took her away. I don't know why so many people have issues with the Arabian, mine was pretty calm and I only got bucked once
I like how he says “oh it’s so easy to tame them” it took my three different tries in chapter 2 and 3 to get this thing. It annoyed me enough that I almost shot it lol

I think its the one where Hosea ordered you to take to stable
The sad thing is that none of these beat my thoroughbred. 😓
Do it spawn back when you die or What happens then. Wasn’t playing attention and got killed but not the horse what happened to the horse?
You get it in either a mission in Chapter 3 or in another mission in Chapter 5
i saw it at a camp randomly in C3, went over and patted it and had a chat with the owner
The horse might not be the fastest or good health but I always have my eyes on a Buttermilk Horse in one of the last couple updates
So I had the rarest horse and let it die 🤦♂️ .

The raven black shire you get early on in chapter 2, which you are given an option of keeping, stabling or selling. It's the only raven black shire in the game and is a proper bad ass.
Didn't realize the American Paint was so rare. Great. Now i feel awesome for letting it go days agi
Are u actually testing the horses or r u just looking at the stat bars in-game ?
he's looking at the stat bars. it's gotten to the point where i don't even want Arabians in my stable (at least for the story mode) since they're skiddish and haul ass at any sign of danger. I replaced them with the fox trotter and turkomen.
@@andraviousoneal7102 dont al horses behave the same in danger? Because then i wanna switch my arabian too because in shootouts shes going crazy
@@andraviousoneal7102 ok thnx. Im gona try to find a war horse
@NobleThaGoat war breed
You can get the black Arabian for free, there’s a randomly generated event that happens at 12:00 am on the street of saint denis, a couple is getting attacked by a bandit and they have a black horse, it’s the arabian
