This is the one challenge I thought should definitely go to Arthur. He has the most experience with horses throughout the game more than John since you go through a majority of the horse breeds. You're left with the best horse when you're using John so it feels unearned. And since the mechanics make you more involved in the horses health and experience I just think Arthur is a better choice than John. It made more sense to make John a herbalist since it's a way to give John something for exploring the map again as a "new" character. John will become a horsemaster in RDR1.
@@samsmyth24 If you don't start the javier mission you have a bigger area in Blackwater to move in before they start shooting at you, therefore the Van Horn to Blackwater mission is more easy.

Tips for this jump: the bigger the horse, the bigger their jump. The ideal horses to use here are the large horses like Dutch Warmbloods and Shires. Turkomans and MFTs can make it but it's a bit more difficult, Arabians and Nokotas are almost impossible (since they're the smaller breeds).
when you get the dutch warmblood in valentine, if you put a marker on van horn and start leading your horse along the marked path, you will bond to level 4 just around the kamassa river.
This was absolutely fantastic. I have hoped someone would find a way to do this and here it is. Well presented video and instead of being a "boring ride" it was like I was being given a tour during the trip. Well done!
I highly recommend playing through this game without the mini map or compass or waypoints even on the pause screen map. It's very immersive when you do. I found an even EASIER method of completing the challenge! You know that strip of land south of Lone Mule Stead that extends close to Blackwater? You can just ride your horse to the tip of that strip and get the challenge completed.
Awesome, brother. Nicely detailed. You can also complete this challenge without encountering the Pinkertons by simply doing the first St. Denis bounty mission. Indtead of taking the bounty back to jail, simply ride to Van Horn to begin the challenge and follow the route as explained in the video and then to West Elizabeth via Owanjila bridge to complete the challenge. Easy peasy.

Of course, you can also just go on a bounty mission and once they're tied up on the back of your horse, you can ride around the Wanted area all you want with no lawmen showing up.
Wow! This is one of the best guides out here. Thanks Arthur! It did take me a couple of tries, the first I was really close to the bridge, tried to avoid the wagon but fell down. Second time made it to the bridge jumped but landed to the left so I fell down. Third, keeping in mind so I was little bit to the right and happened the same, fourth, kept it centre but did not time the jump correctly. I gave up for today but tomorrow with much a relaxed I shall do it. Thank you so much for this, for those who have an itch to finish these challenges this is definitely worth and will recommend the same.
If you really don't wanna get money for the horse, try this, it still works as of December 2023: Go to the valentine stable and put on a bandana. Enter into the back just a bit and start shooting at stuff until you get a wanted level. The stable doors should close locking you inside, and you have to quickly climb into the gate which holds the horse you need. Wait for the wanted level to go away, lawmen may enter the stable but they won't find you where you are. After it's gone, feed the horse until it becomes a temporary horse. Next, exit the stables and take off your bandana, and enter through the back fully this time. Next exit the stables again and the horse should be outside. Take it back into the stables and saddle it so it becomes your main horse. Now you have a free horse. You can do this with any other horse too. Now just level the horse up.
If you do this challenge with a bounty on the back of your horse, they won't shoot you, but you probably can't make that jump and might have to go the long way
You can also use Reverend Swanson. Although I do prefer to use him to "clear" the map near Blackwater and Great Planes/Tall Trees and do Horseman Challenge #9 the old way (passing through Owanjila Dam).
It is insane how good the AI copies the voice 😍 Imagine what the mod community could do with this. Creating an Happy End for Arthur. Thank you for this awesome video!
You won’t jump that bridge with an Arabian. You need a much larger horse. The Arabian is like a goal compared to any other horse in the game. It’s ridiculous how tiny the Arabian is. It’s really not worth it for me, with it’s ridiculous size and spooky/extremely nervous behavior
I like the size of the Shire a lot more (those are so damn massive, Arthur looks tiny compared to them), but Arabian is just so damn fast. Pre "fast travel from wild camps" days it was by far the best horse to have.
What happened to the river crossing with shallow water? That is the way you go to rescue Sean, I think. That is a ride to blackwater though. Love this content. Keep up the good work partner
Any spot on the map that shows water, will automatically disqualify the challenge if you touch it. Unfortunately, the river crossing to rescue Sean shows as water on the map. There are areas that are water at your location, but does not show on the map as water, Dewberry Creek has many areas like this. The bridge jump path in this video or the long way around Owanjilla Lake (the dam) are the only two ways to get to Blackwater for the challenge without touching water.
@@ErrantJourney so basically Rockstar badly coded this challenge and going through the creek is essentially a loophole. Same logic as following your satnav into a lake because your satnav doesn't know about the lake.
@@Joshua-fi4ji Maybe, but I don't think the coding was bad. I think Rockstar did this for the very reason why people find this so confusing. Is it water? Is it not water? Let's make it to where they will just have to find out on their own. Bottom line is if is is showing up as water, then avoid it. When you test everything you possibly can, you find out there are only two paths to take to Blackwater as Arthur or John for the challenge. I've even seen videos where you can cross the beaver dam with all the wood over the river and still complete the challenge. It's crazy.
Damn dude, i got into the video and half way through i had forgotten that you aren't really Arthur. One heck of a good impression, for such a duration too. Nice.
Brotherly advice bro ...use bigger horse like the dutch warmblood or a thoroughbred they are high jumper horses...Arabian even MFT are not good in jumping...i know that because i have DW and thoroughbred in early game and they are good horses as well as high jumper ..
I don't like when games pose this limitations where you can't go to a certain part of the map to explore until the game says so, I dont get why rockstar continues to do that since gta times
Especially since Arthur has the animation and voice lines with other NPC's for Blackwater and other areas in New Austin. He will even draw in his journal when studying points of interest on that side of the map. Rockstar should have given us a remastered definitive version of RDR2 uncut and whole. They could've still had the game end the way it is now.
its for story pacing, they're not trying to satisfy completitionists that just want to do everything with arthur, they're trying to tell a specific narrative that flows, even in GTA, the locations are used as a progression of story
I did it in first try using the long route with my turkomam with level 4 bonding.. your horse can't run out of stamina if you keep patting it while riding.. fastest horse + unlimited horse stamina + skills of shooting back at the blackwater hunters = UNSTOPPABLE.
What an informative video! I had done Horseman 9 the long way with a lot of tonics, but this is very good to know, as an alternative. Incidentally, I believe you just need a tall horse to make the jump. Any tall horse should suffice.
Great tutorial. You can actually get it without ever crossing the bridge though. As soon as you cross Bard's crossing turn left and head to the end of the peninsula closest to Blackwater and it will give it to you. It can be done in around 7-9 minutes

Got it done the 5 time. Thank you for this.
Just the feel good video you need on a day you’re feeling down. Thanks buddy.
If you really don't wanna get money for the horse, try this, it still works as of December 2023:
Go to the valentine stable and put on a bandana.
That particular horse is my favorite. I used it all the way to the end without any problems. Nice job man.
It is insane how good the AI copies the voice 😍
Imagine what the mod community could do with this. Creating an Happy End for Arthur.
Thank you for this awesome video!
Whoever did the Arthur voice over did a fantastic job. Great job on the mission.
It's an A.I voice.
my man Arthur is adjusting to life well post chapter 6 !
Subscribed 2 seconds after I heard the voice acting
2:48 lol guess how many gold bars I've found so far ...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I don’t know 😁
This narration feels great. I'm gonna watch ALL of these.
I’ve only ridden one once. Didn’t care for Arthur racing around on the little Shetland pony.
I like the size of the Shire a lot more (those are so damn massive, Arthur looks tiny compared to them), but Arabian is just so damn fast. Pre "fast travel from wild camps" days it was by far the best horse to have.
"Oh deer.." fucking SENT me holy hell
Nice.
Nice! Great commentary.
Thanks!
Brotherly advice bro ...use bigger horse like the dutch warmblood or a thoroughbred they are high jumper horses...Arabian even MFT are not good in jumping...i know that because i have DW and thoroughbred in early game and they are good horses as well as high jumper ..
@@maximocristobalvaldespino5408 what about Turkomans?
This tutorial really makes me wanna get right back into RDR2. Great work, Creator
I don't like when games pose this limitations where you can't go to a certain part of the map to explore until the game says so, I dont get why rockstar continues to do that since gta times
My guess if nothing else is to give people somewhere to explore in the epilogue
Especially since Arthur has the animation and voice lines with other NPC's for Blackwater and other areas in New Austin. He will even draw in his journal when studying points of interest on that side of the map. Rockstar should have given us a remastered definitive version of RDR2 uncut and whole. They could've still had the game end the way it is now.
its for story pacing, they're not trying to satisfy completitionists that just want to do everything with arthur, they're trying to tell a specific narrative that flows, even in GTA, the locations are used as a progression of story
Agreed.
these videos are so insanely relaxing to watch and as background noise
No I’m not 12:19
I clicked this intending to skip through it, but you're just so entertaining that I couldn't help but watch the whole thing!
Dang your voice like arthur
It's an AI I think
@@lewisofthehoood okah
I did it in first try using the long route with my turkomam with level 4 bonding.. your horse can't run out of stamina if you keep patting it while riding.. fastest horse + unlimited horse stamina + skills of shooting back at the blackwater hunters = UNSTOPPABLE.
Never thought I would be this entertained by a guide. If it wasn’t for you I’d have a lumbago already
What an informative video! I had done Horseman 9 the long way with a lot of tonics, but this is very good to know, as an alternative. Incidentally, I believe you just need a tall horse to make the jump. Any tall horse should suffice.
Can't wait for gambler challenges video with this voice
Arthur is gonna be losing its mind
This is how you do a gaming tutorial. Keep this up!
Your guides have helped me out alot these past few months
The voice is like a mix between Charles and Arthur
Younger Arthur?
The best RDR2 video I've seen in years, Thanks for this!!
The random DUCK out of no where is hilarious
"if you don't have enough money, then what are you even doing!" 😂😂
Great tutorial. You can actually get it without ever crossing the bridge though. As soon as you cross Bard's crossing turn left and head to the end of the peninsula closest to Blackwater and it will give it to you. It can be done in around 7-9 minutes
did everything right for my horse to get spooked at the jump and fall.
my fully bonded black arabian died cause of that, im so sad 😢😢
Good. I was worried he was gonna say to go get a Morgan for jumping.
This guide is actually more engaging because of Arthur's voice
I love how he’s naming stuff Ive been looking for along the way😭
