the events in this series are taking place before the legion invasion. it makes sense to release them before the 9th. that's the point. nothing to do with preorders.

Steven Pacey, best narrator ever. I listened to these while working and they are extremely clear and easy to follow. Absolutely top quality, and the music puts accent on the emotions and the moment. It would be the most amazing thing ever to have all the previous books like this but you never know.

This is the wizard duel I wanted Harry Potter to give me. It disappointed me. Warcraft always delivers.
The entire HP magic system is subpar; but then again, it was written by a housewife, not a hardcore DnD designer/fan. No schools of magic, uses wands instead of staves and daggers, no cosmic indifference (e.g. old gods/burning legion).

Yep that about sums up why I don't like the Harry Potter series. Very lack luster. More like an extra complex children's story. Warcraft has always had the grand scale I've enjoyed.

I think this is a great way to bridge expansions with non-game content. Not everyone is into reading or novels. I understand that it's almost impossible to put all content into the game (like with the novels) and that other means of content makes it easier to tell the story. Sometimes though, it feels like it is almost required to fully understand.
These audio books or audio stories are great. They are interesting to listen to and it helps bridge the story rather well.
What an amazing ending. Two old, iconic and titanic figures fighting on the centre of one most terrifying places of power on Azeroth.

I guess a lot of people arent familiar with audio books. But for those asking why certain voices sound weird/off its because all the voices are done by the same voice actor, who is also the narrator, Steven Pacey.
Its something that is done quite commonly with audio books. You dont hire multiple voice actors. Just one.

Steven Pacey (the narrator) also does The First Law books which are simply amazing. I highly recommend listening to them. Very glad Blizz hired him to do this series. Great so far!
Really Blizz, I would pay good money to have audiobooks of all novels like this.
I absolutely love this, but regardless of how talented the narrator is, I'd really like a woman to do the voice of Maiev. :)

My god. I LOVE THIS SERIES. Blizzard need to do this for every single patch and expansion forever onwards. Honestly I get so immersed I love it. I just wish the actual voice actors would play their voices instead of the narrator.

It would make sense that after a while the aging spell that Medivh cast on him would begin to fade, in the lore he's in his 50's I believe.
The Blizzard explanation was that he just shaved... he's still aged up. Mages can live longer than normal humans though.

Medivh states that it was a permanent aging spell and i'm pretty sure that if Medivh say his spell it's permanent, it probably is.

For the people wondering how Maiev got to where she is: After Malfurion allowed the Worgen and Highborne to live in Darnassus, Maiev Shadowsong began to believe that Malfurion possesed the same arrogance as his brother Illidan and hated them both.
(Keep in mind, Maiev was alive in the time to see Queen Azshara and the Highborne attempt to summon the Burning Legion into Azeroth. They killed countless Night Elves and destroyed part of the planet. Demons killed Maiev's entire family. She has good reason for hating the Highborne)
She killed many Highborne in Darnassus and attempted to assassinate Malfurion as well. She was driven off by her brother, presumably to the Vault of the Watchers.
Maiev trained with her fellow watchers for 10,000 years in the Barrow Deeps under Ashenvale. Her Watchers trust her decisions and are incredibly loyal to her. This is why she still has a following. The Watchers are an group of Night Elfs outside of the influence of the Alliance.
and yet i still find Maiev Shadowsong as one of the most unlikeable Stuiped foolish chars in all of warcraft even more so back when i played warcraft 3

I love that Blizzard did this. I always wanted to get into WoW lore, but just playing the game wasn't enough. Cba reading all the comics etc. either.
Listening to this is the easiest way of absorbing the lore, and the lore is so INCREDIBLY important for the feeling of the game. Hopefully legion will be a blast, so you can keep improving on some aspects.

Didn't Maiev become a wanted criminal across the entire Alliance after attempting to murder Malfurion in Wolfheart? Why is she leading anything?
In the story, her Watchers had been training with her for 10,000 years in the barrow dens and are fiercely loyal to her. They are an outside group of Night Elves, separate from the influence of the Alliance.
Blizzard seems to be wanting to save this character once again from the consequences of her actions. When she tries to kill Illidan after Tyrande and Malfurion pardon him it is forgotten since it is inconvenient and Maeiv somehow keeps her position and is not punished in a substantial way. When she tried to cover up the fact that Tyrande was in danger of dying and she was found out, she somehow kept her position and was not charged with treason. When she murdered dozens, tried to kill her own brother and one of her faction leaders, she somehow ends up keeping her position and not being hunted down by every single member of the alliance for being a violent serial killer... Blizzard does some very stupid things for this character to not be the villain she deserves to be.
+Daf lastname I bet you she is working with the Burning Legion. It would would make sense, she was literally on the urge to stop Khadgar from stopping Gul'dan. She is all about justice, and in this audio book she seems out of character, she's the huntress. Sargeras has to have some sort of influence on her because she would never back down on a good hunt. Kil'jaedan seriously stopped Gul'dan from attacking her, "They don't matter". How else do you think Gul'dan got to Illidan's body?
The wardens are now seen to be a standalone branch of the night elf society.

I doubt she would be as angry at Cordona's betrayal if that was so and it plainly is just against her character, she probably would honor kill herself and do a great service not seen since thrall firing muh laser at Deathwing than work with demons.

I agree, more to these sort of lore expositions and more so regards pre-events of the Legion (as much info is missed and even if told with no cinematics but just by storytelling with some sound effects/music is better than nothing). So keep these up please :)

All the people asking for more of this, read the books or at least find a copy of an audio version of the books, they're all fine, good enough as background noise while doing whatever while you play.
MMO's are inherently a terrible way to get stories across, most people don't even know about Garrosh and Varian fighting in Ashenvale or that Sylvannas was in talks with her sister to join the Horde, leaving the alliance and her children
