Hi. You are doing some serious backpacking in Pa. I backpacked the Black Forest trail mant years ago. It was a tough one, for sure. It had rained 11 days in a row when we started. A forester stopped us and wouldn't let us cross the Pine. He took us up and around the first crossing. That too was a challenge the next two days. Thanks for the great memories.
Hi John! Im glad this video brought back some fond memories. This is one of those trails that some of the good memories come after, not during. Sounds like when you did it would be some very tough conditions because some of those sections could be washed out pretty good, it already has some good water crossings. Sounds like that was an adventure to remember! It’ll always be one of my favorites.
Hemlock Mountain kicked my ass. I had visions of being carried out. I am certain where you camped second night was where we camped. We strung a tarp for our shelter. Woke up in the middle of the night hearing my brother telling an animal to stop eating his hat. We still laugh about that.
I did this trail early April and that time of year, without the foliage, the views were so different. You had great weather. One of these days I’ll probably cross paths on the trail
It’s great hiking these trails and sharing them with everyone too thanks for stopping by! Those are Altra Superior 5 on my feet and my tent is the High Route 1 from Sierra Designs.
Thanks for the video.

Yeah I had a nice window for weather that week. It dropped down to the 40s for a while after I got home!
