oh boi what a wacky ride. It's my birthday today. Well probably not if you're reading this in the future but if it's 7th may it's my bday. Have a video and a slice of cake and let's have a party but like one of those really awkward office parties where everyone is kinda scared to let loose because even though the boss says it's okay. You know there's a promotion coming up and you don't wanna risk it. But yeah thankyou so much to any beuatiful soul who watched any of these it means the world to me. :)

i love that yellow ACTUALLY acts smart in this episode. he's curious, he acts, he learns, and does more than just use big words and science jargon. too often shows will make a "character becomes smart" episode and just make then spout smart sounding nonsense. i like that dhmis did more
Yeah his actions are smart as well as his words, it’s hard to say wether yellow is my favourite character because if he acted like this all the time then 100%
@@waterwaveybabyThe sad thing is, that the show would be a bit more bland, since yellow would find everything out at the first episode.
I was thinking the same. I wanna be like smart Yellow
It's less about Yellow Guy becoming smart, and more about him becoming thoughtful; Thoughtful and logical.
Yellow was always curious, he just got intelligent enough to indulge that curiosity more effectively

If there ever is a season 2 this would be a genius way of doing things

Maybe the idea of Lesley being a puppet herself and what's above is probably the Network who runs the show and she's merely a creator of the show rather than an actual person in control, symbolizing how the creator may think they have full control, but there is always a higher power to take that control away
True, some shows get rushed because of the deadline that was set, that's inconvenient and some things may be left out and you are left to wonder if the show could have been better if it wasn't rushed. Some entertainment gets shut down before it really gets going, shonen jump has cancelled a lot of manga just because they aren't popular in japan, not profitable enough I guess. I think Tite Kubo said that he felt like he didn't have a lot of control over his anime movie thing called hell-verse, it's well animated and I think most Bleach fans like it but if he had full control it would be different somehow, maybe worse lol.
Funnily enough THIS was a mayor point in the original series, especially with Roy. A lot of behind the scenes muckery was implied to be his doing as the producer of the show. Even here he is the one peering through the intro making sure the three of them fall in line. His only appearance in the show was in the family episode and he devoured and destroyed the twisted family there not because he cared much about his son, but more so because they were pulling Yellow away from his prison. They crossed a boundary by trying to tear apart the perfect prison he built (at least in my mind) and thus they had to be severely punished for it.

I always interpreted the three display cases as meaning that the trio needed to get to that room *together* before they were “allowed” to go any further. Something that feels tragically difficult because they can never be harmonious for more than 5 minutes
That's actually a really interesting idea! They first need to accept each other to escape, that would be really sweet
Season two is a rerun of all the same episodes but it ends with them all getting up there together cuz stuff played out differently I'm calling it now
This is technically season 2
I've got a theory on how that could happen if there was ever another series!! Noticeably, the items are all coloured to match the different members of the house. The shovel is red, chuddle dollops are green, and the batteries are yellow.
Red was supposed to be the dead one in the death episode. That was why he felt like he wanted to be dead the whole time. Then, while he's in the coffin, he'll realise that doing nothing for the rest of his life really wasn't the paradise he expected, and that he actually MISSES his housemates, and wants to keep living just to be with them. And, since Red and Duck's roles are switched, Red would have to kill the clone that Duck had made to replace him.
Duck was supposed to be the one opening the chuddle dollops. He would realise that he DOES need family (Red and Yellow), instead of singing a whole solo about how he 'doesn't need a family', and would eventually admit that he needs his housemates, instead of acting like he doesn't need anybody.
Yellow (unlike the others) has already accepted that he cares about his housemates, but he wants them to be happy. All he needs are the batteries, to finally become smart enough to figure everything out and help him and his housemates escape.
Once Smart Yellow spots the stairs, he'll tell Red and Duck because he KNOWS that they're his family now, despite their frequent arguments, and they'll come with him and meet Lesley. Then they'll escape.
BUT THAT'S *JUST A THEORY,* A *DHMIS* THEORY!
Unless it's against the ~~worm~~
I would like to point out the the stair painting doesn’t have Yellow guy in it until he is on the stairs, they’re blank in the previous shot when he’s looking at them
Oh Damn can’t believe I missed that, there’s so many incredible details
Interesting, this is intentional so we might speculate about that
Pd: there are 2 "the" 's
@@gameplaystart1213 Probably meant to say "that the"
The book is another distraction, another lie.
One so perfect its actually distracted the fandom from the stairs up.
I will always find the last frame of the show, the trio laughing as they shred the book, the most chilling in the whole series.
36:56 I don’t know if the original series is still canon but I think part of the reason Leslie didn’t want to interact with the characters was because of how Roy did in the original series. Once Roy started popping up more the simulation broke.
It seems up to interpretation if the UA-cam series is canon to the TV series, as the Fandom is divided on it.
YT series is canon
Teachers reappear with mainly consistent personalities
I love the big and bigger boys rooms, they're just quite literally higher and higher forms of education than the original show, the big boys discuss complex math, multitask, and learn about mature and complicated topics like boundaries, and the bigger boys appear to employ cutting edge, space-age mechanics and physics and do all the work mentally, but they also have increasingly more undecorated rooms and the big boys have one teacher shown who pretty much only exists to be boring and the bigger boys have no songs at all, and they all are visually disturbing and behave condescendingly
Agreed. I found it notable that in the last level, there is no empathy. They don't care about inflicting pain or basically any of the consequences of their actions. Plus, they're pricks. Seems just like higher ed to me.....
Also, I would like to point out that Red and Duck are completely different compared to their earlier versions due their 'willing' ignorance. Notice how when Duck questions the dead-end workplace and the creepy twins of their perverted lessons, here, he just goes along and his voice is obviously autotuned for narrative purposes to show his cracks.
Red from the previous episode...just lost the will to fight. Previous episode he was so elated of driving somewhere else, that when a teacher (GPS) tries to bring them back to their prison (home), he dejects them immediately. But after seeing the (purposefully intended) harsh reality, he chose to be at the house because just like you said: there's a certain 'familiarity' of their house.
And now that Smart Yellow Guy (his real version) is self-aware, intelligent, confident, and certain, he's breaking that cycle and made Red and Duck uncomfortable due to their willingness to give up. If they were their earlier counterparts, they would've helped Yellow Guy get to the bottom of this without question. But sadly....Leslie planned this and now that Yellow Guy is gone...all they can do is just....repeat the cycle. Again and again.
Love this new DHMIS. This new existential dread compared to the shock and gore to the earlier series.
Duck Guy's voice was autotuned in the webseries as well.
I think that the 3 have to reach the stage of questioning at the same time or else they're forced to repeat the cycle, and they never will reach that stage at the same time because the world is designed to purposely create those stages at different times and break them before Yellow goes up those stairs
My question to Leslie is why? Why allow Yellow Guy to even get the opportunity to become aware if she was just going to give him a book to shred??
(Which btw, shouldn't have been able to be shred with it's leather bindings)
This kind of makes me wonder if the real Duck did die in the Death episode, and Stain is the one actually present in the later episodes
Interesting about the 'dogs are happier than humans' bit, as they call Yellow the pet.
The sunny 'son' on Leslie's back might literally refer to her 'turning her back' on whatever happened, and continuing this crazy charade up here. Didnt notice she said "we" either, that's a good catch.
Your editing is hilarious as always and I can't wait for what you do next! 💚
This whole episode made me think of The Allegory of the Cave. For so long the 3 have lived this way whether they like it or not, this is all that they can see. Even though Red wants out he is accepting of the reality they live in without question.
Yellow is freed through Green's/duck's actions. Yellow is able to see their reality differently and see and ascend the stairs. He's even able to see the hidden people behind the scenes that they weren't supposed to see.
And its the same sad outcome though unwitting on duck's part. When yellow returns to pull them out of the cave duck reached out and took his batteries effectively killing the smarter enlightened yellow and keeping them all in the darkness of their cave by shredding the book.
Also in Lesley's room there are so many possibilities. There are actually 6 display cases, but we can't see what's in the other 3 because we are not being allowed to look into that direction (we don't get that perspective, just like changing perspective allowed for yellow to look over and see the stairs that's always been there).
I love this show so much the fact that the last episode is a direct parallel to the last episode of season 1 is amazing. The whole episode is literally called electricity and at the end of season 1 red guy unplugs the show. And at the end of the episode the show just goes on forever. Being the only thing that is keeping yellow guy alive.
The UA-cam series finale could at least have some happiness interpreted in its ending, as the main 3 are all their favorite colors in the final shot. The TV Series ending is just completely hopeless however....
The presence of the symbols has been seen as a secret code waiting to be cracked, but could it actually be a sign the yellow has been doing this over and over, each time making something with those symbols in a attempt to understand whats going on.
holy shit
The most underrated line in the episode.
In the song when Electracy says "All the people agree, it's time you learned about electricity"
Who are all the people she is talking about? and why do they want this to happen now?
Something I thought when looking at Leslie is that she seems to be the analogue for the Mr. Dressup/Mr. Rogers type character in a lot of the children's media DHMIS riffs off of. The human surrounded by puppets, who, nevertheless, is a character themselves.
I do think that the whole looping theory shouldn't be dismissed either, due to the paintings, and the way Yellow described this episode in the last one's opening.
This episode apears to be full of references to Gnostic lore.
A few examples of this is-
After Yellow Guy gets his new batteries he begins to gain awareness of the reality if his world. This is similer to the Gnostic concept of gaining gnosis, the truth about reality and your devine nature.
Leslie seems to have a lot of thing in common with the Demiurge, the false god that rules over the material universe. She hides information from Yellow Guy and, although she seems to be the one manipulating the trio, seems to be just as much if a pupet as they are.
Yeah I was thinking about It too
(Glad to find someone else seeying this) there Is a lot of Gnostic tones in this episode.
Yes it is here the finale of this amazing series
So far.
for now
I hope there's more episodes eventually. I don't care how long it takes.
Them shredding the book at the end was honestly the funniest thing to me. Of course that's what happened! How could the episode have ended any other way? There truly is an overlap between tragedy and comedy
I just noticed this!!! If you look very closely the tainted window in lesley’s attic is painted into each character’s head!!! I hope someone sees this!!!
I think you mean 'tinted', but 'tainted' is hilarious, and may be accurate as well. It is DHMIS, afterall. lol!
That’s really obvious
After watching the whole series I have a clear idea of the DHMIS world. At the top there is the Council who plans the performances and the scenarios in this limbo/hell. Below them, there is Lesley the controller and narrator of the trio. Who might be as trapped as the trio. Below her, there are the animate objects like the suitcase and the coffin who teaches the trio those lessons. To keep them occupied. Beside them, there is Roy who seems to be the watcher/enforcer which intervenes if the episode plot goes too far off. Then there are the trio, who I think are souls who have been trapped there for unmeasurable amount of time. And there are the creatures like the twins and Warren who are outside of this ecosystem and have their own agendas. (Now I think about it, the twins and their family were probably trapped in a similar cycle like the trio. Though I’m not sure if they were killed off because they were trying to break it through a new “mother” or simply because they interfered with another ecosystem/house)
Edit - Personally I hope those three items are the keys to end the cycle. It would mean the possibility of season 2: a look into other houses in Clay Hill, more mentions of the Council and more philosophical episodes.
I like your theory! Seems very canon considering the things we know about the DHMIS world. I can't help but wonder what the council's true intentions are.
@@BOZMINEWell why do we the audience watch DHMIS?
Love the Leslie's son theory. I thought similarly about the YT series but with Roy - Roy makes Yellow a perfect simple childish world for him to enjoy, to keep him safe from the outside world. But reality keeps breaking through because children will always question things, so when Red and Duck question the Teachers, the true darker nature of their subject breaks through the illusion. Red unplugging the show being like unplugging this safe 'lifeline' and giving them freedom to question and grow
i found her laughing at "you're not my real son" statement is a meta-statement of the show. making fun of those trying to find answers when the creators can just make anything up. It's certainly something I would do to entertain myself
I dont think they would make fun of anyone because i think the creators responded positively to all the theories, they said something like "we're happy that people would make theories about our show, and we're happy to report that all of the fan theories are true." And obviously they can't all be true, but it is kind of validation. They could outright discourage fan theories but the show is mysterious on purpose. But with that being said we cant really see in their mind so they could be laughing their butts off at this meta idea of always searching for the truth only for it to be shredded or for everything to be a felted fabrication.
@@pumkin610 I agree. I always disliked this notion of "The creators are laughing at you for engaging in their product". It feels very mean spirited, and people who propose that I think are just projecting their own distaste for the Theory community onto the creators.
As much as it could be representing her possibly dead son, the smiling yellow face on the back of Leslie's Jacket firstly is a sun rising up between to Mountains, with the yellow lines above it being rays of sunshine - like a kid would draw a sun.
Otherwise great video, thank you very much!
I'd like to add a detail. If you can remember in the web series the third episode is about love and we're introduced to the god-like figure of that cult, the stone bust named Malcolm. The miniature of that bust can be seen throughout the TV show. For example while they're in the living room at the beggining of the episode "Death" it's behind Yellow Guy. Going back to the web series there the butterfly teacher explains how they feed Malcolm gravel, as kind of an offering. In the final episode of the TV show one of the answers in wordpuzzle is "gravel" (visible at: 12:15 in the video). Along with that there is a mention of the pie(s), reminds me of "Shepard's pie" again from the episode "Death". Shepard is a term also used in religious teachings, and seems like Yellow Guy and Red Guy connect it with some pre-funeral ritual, might also be a mistake, as they present it in that episode. My 'theory' is that we might be getting further glimpses at "the Ancient ones" or the ones above Lesley.
A shepherd’s pie is a real thing, why is it in quotes?
I feel so stupid for not thinking about the show this way it’s almost like yellow guy was handed a Bible…whoa and shreds it. Very Metal.
this show gives me such existential anxiety. it really makes me wonder the purpose of things. i think the biggest questions it spawns in me is "am i truly in control of my situation?"
I don't think Lesley's son is dead, I think he's just dead to her.
Considering how much the teachers misinform the three guys, it definitely seems like Lesley does this intentionally as a means to keep them sheltered and detached from the world outside of the house. She probably raised/taught her own son well, so he was able to spread his wings and leave the nest.
Now suffering from empty nest syndrome, Lesley copes by keeping her own little creations in her own little house of imagination, where she has complete control over them.
But that's another thing: Yellow Guy is battery-powered. When the electricity in his brain is functioning regularly, he's smart enough to rival Lesley herself. It seems that the only way to keep him under her control is by not changing his batteries.
So I was thinking, "No, that yellow figure on the back of Lesley's coat couldn't be her actual son, that's obviously the sun."
And then it dawned on me, pun not entirely intended.
That might still be a representation of her real son because son and sun are homophones!

It would be cool to see an episode where both Yellow Guy and Electracy get one fully charged battery each, would be interesting to see
Episodes are linear, Electracy will not stay, and half and half battery supply would be heightened function for yellow and lower function for Electracy.
if yellow headed up that other set of stairs, i have a feeling it would get a bit *TOO* meta
My small theory on this comes back to your thoughts. When Lesley is speaking to Yellow, it's like the Devil making a deal with a mortal. My guess is that Lesley is indeed a mother of the deceased David. But, the only way for her to interact with her coping mechinism is to not be direct, not truly being seen. She most likely is restricted and controlled. Controlled by who she made a deal with to keep teaching her version of Hell, dragging the trio with her but she tries to keep everything in order so they won't be freaked out or see the horrors that she might see herself.
I think the chuddledollips are more a symbol of red wanting to escape as it was him that was focused on family while duck came to terms with not having one. and the shovel was ducks way out of the show through death. Maybe not what he wanted but disrupted the order of the house nonetheless.
I think the painting is a somewhat meta commentary on stories that break the 4th wall.
For all this to happen, someone had to make puppets, let the actors perform and even let them "improvise" when things get weird.
Take OneShot for example. The game might be breaking story-wise but in reality the game is completetly fine, the game was programmed to look like it's being corrupted. Someone had to plan this to happen in order for it to acctually happen, and seeing how the "puppet masters" predicted/planned that Yellow Guy will go upstairs, they were way ahead of him and pretty much sealed his fate as a puppet by letting Lesley be a not reliable person to learn information from, distracting YG from going even higher and without explaining to him anything. The only thing she did do was handling him the mysterious book that would get shredded in the end.
electricity is really dark when it goes out
lol true
I would love to see similar videos for the original UA-cam series!
Will be covering the UA-cam Series in a month or 2 :) I find it quite interesting how different they are, almost feels like 2 different shows
Water Wave was about to get to the last episode review of DHMIS, but when the world needed him most, he vanished...
Three months have passed and now, out of the blue, hes released his final work on the beloved horror puppet show. Will this video live up to the hype and anticipation built up over 1/4th of a year? Stay tuned to find out!
I've learned from another video that the scribbles on the book (as the title) or some of them being in scenes, are actually their names in a sort of language! The book is most definitely talking about them A LOT.
I learn so much about subtle storytelling when i watch your videos
I interpreted the paintings as this being a never ending loop. Not that someone knew what he was going to do, but that he did it before. That the entire series starts back over and that the true way to watch it is essentially on loop forever. Thats just how I interpreted it tho
Did anyone notice how he said “dick” instead of “duck”?
Do you think if there is a second season, you will cover that?
Oh, and little detail i thought i should mention, electracy actually knows what she is talking about and isnt malicious, not really. Even when running on Yellows janky old batteries she tries to warn Red and Duck about the dangers of making everything electric.
yeah.... but she does suggest an electric chair to Yellow.... so, maybe not the most responsible teacher. Plus she has 'cheeky snakes' for hands..... oh my!
@@tammyd.970 yes she does. That's why said she's not really malicious
@@evanraynolds8699 🤔 How is electrifying someone's chair not malicious? I mean, maybe the cheeky snake hands are doing it, but she is singing about it so...
@@tammyd.970 she has a total of two malicious moments, and actually knows about what she is teaching. So I don't count her as malicious
What if Lesley doesn't want Yellow to leave because of the situation that happened to her kid who died from a car accident. Possibly the kid didn't look before crossing the road and you can hear the car screech and a loud thump and then a lady screaming.
If that's the case, then do the other two characters have a harsh backstory towards other higher-ups and their reason they don't want them to leave??
While I still have so many questions on this show, I do appreciate it as it is. See, I say so many questions because we have an idea on what Yellow Guy is supposed to be, but we don’t know what Red and Duck supposed to be. Are they actual people forced into this insane asylum of a kids show? Are they not real as well? Who are they?…or who were they? I like to think the two were people Lesley knew before her son David died, and kidnapped both of them to serve on her puppet show against their will (maybe even brainwashed them to not remember who they are). Yes, it’s a theory, but I think it’s very likely Yellow is the only one of the trio who’s actually not real. As for the batteries, the shovel, and the chuddle dollops, I think I know what they are. It’s clear that the batteries are needed for Yellow to become smarter and know what’s going on. So maybe, with his intelligence, he’ll learn that there’s something in the chuddle dollops that was never seen in there, and the shovel is needed to open the rest of the bag. Think about it. The shovel was strong enough to slice Stain’s head off. If something like the shovel is capable of cutting a puppet’s head clean off, it’s possible it can slice open a family pack with one shot. The only obstacles that’s stopping the trio from doing this is simple: Duck wanting things to be how they are, and Red just wanting to escape. If Red learns what he needs to do, and Duck accepts that he has to let go of this routine, then the trio can together get out of this hell. Either way, I don’t know this to be true, but we’ll have to wait if there’s a season 2 to get the answers.
Also, 30:33 cracked me up.😂
Nah
So if there's people above lesley and yellow guy is lesley's son, maybe this was a collaborative effort between multiple puppet masters, each bringing someone's consciousness back to 'life' for personal reasons. Yellow is there because Lesley can't let go of what happened, the other two may be there for similar reasons. OR a weirder theory ive had for a while is that Lesley wanted David brought back but couldn't do it herself so made a faustian bargain with something stronger or 'above' her to bring him back and keep her alive long enough to process his death, except having a facsimile of her son around is stopping her from moving on. The other two are there to keep him company/keep him from rebelling but it's been so long now that they forgot what their original purpose was (the show tells us they're forgetful and easily distracted) and red has started to get angry about being stuck there. Humans have been shown to exist in this universe which means Red, Yellow and Duck are definitely not human. Yellow being brought back via some kind of ritual and put into a body that cannot die is why he is now a cloth puppet instead of a human child. Duck has internal organs which means he is at least partly organic and is able to die, red guy has teeth and blood which hints that he is also at least partly organic. David is cloth and batteries. The faustian pact also explains the weird symbols everywhere, they could be little anchors to keep the 'spell' going on the house as I don't think they show up outside or at the twins place. I know there's a million holes in this theory but it's a fun one I've been thinking about
so since theres another door, that probably means theres gonna be another series, where he starts normal but in the end goes back upstairs (using some sort of special means) and sees the door, then he'll go upstairs and maybe he will find the true end... Unless theres more... We may never know (or in 5 years depending on if its like last time)
I pray to god this show gets a series 2!
If it happens, I'd hope for another character, like Duck or Red Guy, to climb the stairs
@@belnonaodh1520 yeah, like maybe like instead of batteries they find something in the woods and that helps one of them go up
Leslie isn't the "maker", nor is she the "creator". She is only living vicariously through Yellow Guy due to her inability to accept loss.
The C4 series is an allegory for how all manner of creativity & imagination is slifled and condensed on kids shows. Leslie represents a demographic of viewers that have no reason to watch other than it brings them comfort or reminds them of something. People with something important missing who are actively looking for things to fill the gap. Once they've found it, they do not want it gone. No change.
The stairs in Leslies room are not Yellow Guys stairs, they're Leslies. They represent self-awareness. Characters ascend the stairs when they stop questioning whats going on around them & begin to wonder whats happening inside their heads.
"What would you do if you met your maker?"
I would take revenge for all the stuff they put me through
I loved this episode. I actually think Leslie’s singing isn’t directed at the characters. I think she’s singing to an audience, a child audience. We’re seeing a kids show being filmed from the character’s perspective; so all the horror is what we put kids characters through, while it’s sanitized by narration and framing. We’re experiencing the horror kids shows’ characters live out but what we don’t see is that Leslie being that manipulative narrator and framer. To give a real comparison, Thomas the tank engine has a narrator, but the trains themselves are characters. We see each episode of Thomas as fun, gentle, calm story telling, but that’s because the narrator frames it as such, the reality of a world where trains are living conscious beings who can crash into things at 80 miles an hour, be scrapped for parts or melted down, have people manipulating their organs from inside to force them to work? Horror. And if we saw what’s not on camera and couldn’t hear the narrator sing sweet songs and assure us no one’s hurt, we’d have don’t hug me I’m scared.
In this episode "David" is killed 'again' by the electric chair
I see something that reminds me of a box in the painting next do the door to the attic. Like a coffin
Also the big ass book shows: ducks severed head, reds eyes, yellows severed head, worm/snake and a coin(?), snake/worm and a battery, a shovel, a clock/time, a severed hand. Are these the ingredients required to create our three main characters? Body parts, time, burying, electricity, money and heads?
I wish this show had a better conclusion. I kinda want them to be free. Shredding the book was probably the worst mistake the trio just made. I was hoping maybe there could be a season 2, and perhaps 3.
Maybe the colours of the windows show who needs what to break the cycle, yellow needs fresh batteries to realise what’s going on, red needs to do something with the shovel, and duck needs to do something with the chips
YES! I've been waiting for this! I love your analysis of this series. I've seen so many people do it, but you explain it the best. Keep up the amazing work!👍❤
Love your reviews!! This show means so much to me.. it (mostly red guy tbh I could talk about how much I love him forever and also I LOVE your takes on him) helped me in my darkest moments and your reviews for it were so nice and I can’t wait for the ranking vids
I'm so happy that more DHMIS content is to come. Your videos about this show are amazing! :)
The most chilling thing is the closing shot where the room extends into an infinite dark expanse of confusion.
a 48 minutes video about a 20 minute episode. I love this show. I love this channel.
I really hope we get more DHMIS. This show brought me so much joy and was such a breath of fresh air for a new television show. Normally the gimmicks this show leans into would bug me, but I think this show pulls it off so well. The mix of horror and comedy works in such a strange way where you're always on the edge of your seat even if you were laughing just moments ago. Bloody brilliant.
what’s worse is that the grotesque factor in series is often what is accompanied with the swelling eerie music, seen in parts like in the family dinner or the worm’s true form.
Instead, they use the music in the episode at the end during the shredding where there’s not a single piece of distended, rotting flesh or antagonist. It’s delivering horror based on context for such a mundane act.
I think it's an interesting parallel that the final stage - or the top is dark. full of shadows. and the same thing was shown in yellow's mind during the friendship episode.
It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who imagines the void as a dark and infinite expanse with checker tile flooring as well.
What the show represents: tv show, reboot, spinoff, artist, company manager, and the company itself. The company level is the UA-cam series basically.
Once again you deliver a fantastic video. It actually makes me see what's going on much more clearly. Leslie is in turn a creation by the writers of the show, who themselves has to answer to the producers and so forth. Of course the trio won't reach reality, they're fictional at the end of the day.
Had a thought as I was watching a few ranking videos.
Leslie outright reveals they arent the creator of everything. I think its more of they're the curator. Leslie says yellow is "one of my favorites." This somewhat parallels the very first DHMIS episode with sketchbook when she asks what everyone's favorite color is. Yellow's answer is deemed "not a creative color". If Yellow is then Leslie's favorite, Leslie lilely isnt considered "creative".
36:24-36:37 Can someone explain the connection between these thoughts, please? Why "the darkness always creeps in" is why Lesley is losing control and why the teachers are dying?
@14:26 You cut it off right before one of my favorite moments in the series! "Hmm? Just a word?!...
Watching these videos reminds me of how little I pay attention to details and how quick I am to believe the surface truth lol. Also, no offense, these vids get me sleepy eyed, gets me very relaxed and soothed, think I’m going to add your vids to my sleep documentaries playlist :P
I have been waiting 8391739272819383819 years for this
I'm so fricking late to this video but OF COURSE DUCK DOOMS THEM ALL - I know he was not malicious but it's so "spot on" for his character; he switched Yellow's batteries for everything to go back to normal, to his comfortable or known reality. I was so frustrated, watching them shred the book 😭
As soon as you said it's about god my brain went, "3 of us, holy trinity", godlike being says yellow cant stay because hes "not her real son", a sacred book no one can properly understand... lol
OMG. Yellow learned to create after his hair changed. SKETCHBOOK WAS RIGHT THE WHOLE TIME
Could the sons name be david? And the death music plays when yellow goes down like with duck...just something to consider...not to mention the kid being run over
Amazing video! No one on youtube did such a good job with talking about DHMIS.
I watched every of your videos about DHMIS at least 3 times, just so I could focus on every detail of those episodes.
Really love your video style and the way you go through every single event with such a huge amount of detail.
Ahh, yes. That's the kind of ending I expect from this.
Honestly. Feels a little too real.
the top layer is just the creators of the show hanging out
i’m beyond in love with this series you’ve done for dhmis , i’ve rewatched the friends video so many times
I think Lesley is suffering dementia. She's losing control of the happy fantasy where her son is still alive. Reality is creeping in, but it is too late. Her mind is slowly dying and can no longer cope with it.
Had she been able to grow after the death of her son, she would be in a better place, but now it is too late, and awareness makes her despair even worse.
i love these videos u are so good at storytelling
at like 18:00 youre talking about that picture on the staircase, and in a shot before you can see the same painting but without yellow. this means no one predicted whats going to happen, that means the painting simply updates as things happen.
Maybe the three shapes with the three objects refer to issues each character has that keeps them from seeking change and fulfilling their true potential to be more than pupppets. Duck is narcissistic and is the only one in the trio who denies wanting a family, and when he does picture a family he can only see ducks who look and sound like him, when family is much more than that. Overcoming his narcissism may have given him the ability to look beyond the curtain instead of allways catering to his simplistic needs. Red's object was a shovel from the Death episode which represents his depressive attitude and desire for everything to end. If he found motivation and interest in living and leading, he could peel back the curtain too. And of course Yellow's batteries which clear his mind and allow him to function to his full potential. If all three of them were to move past their issues and obstacles at the same time, they might have the strength to overpower the puppet master's control. And if you notice, the episodes where they individually overcome these obstacles are where they're the most aware, productive, and effective at breaking through the veil. In 'Jobs' Duck moves past his narcissism to try and save Yellow when his hand is mangled and manages to pull them out of the terrifying workplace. In 'Transport' Red is motivated and eager to try new things and lead the team, which brings them further from the house than they've ever been. And in this episode, Yellow has his full awareness and is able to bypass distractions to get to Lesley. But the three of them are never operating at these levels at the same time, so it's never enough.
When yellow guy turned smart his hair got organized
so basically
Yellow guy: I use my hair to express myself
If duck had the same perspective as red and batteried yellow duck would probably recognize it's a prison but accept it anyway
your dhmis videos are truly amazing! I really got some new perspective from you and it is so impressive. Thanks for making these!
I remember someone saying that the reason why the dhmis episode always end in a bloody mess is because that's how her sons life ended
Gives me real Ureka's Castle vibes. The show always started out with a muppet style giant cranking the key on his musoc box to bring the castle inside the snowglobe alive for the epside. All the characters lived inside this musoc box and their lives were being used as a performance for a higher being they were all aware of/could occasionally communicate with. Whats more, the gaint was himself a puppet in this TV show world we were watching as a kid. I hoenstly freaked me out a bit and made me question reality at way too young an age but I still loved it. Rene Descartes never had to grow up wondering if his life was a puppet show for a bigger puppet as a show for a higher being..but I did and thats how I learned about his quandery. Do I exist? If i question my existance..i am thinking..if I am thinking..I must exist! But..yellow guy is questioning his existance..he is THINKING? Shouldn't he exist? Unless..the illusion of thinking is something made up by a higher being and the only reason we percieve it as proof of existance is because that perception is purposefully limited!? O.o I want a hug from Magellen and Batly now..
I remember watching the episode for the first time. I was kind of lulled into a false sense of security along with the characters. Lesley had this calm, reassuring voice, and it was kind of soothing to hear BEFORE SHE SHOUTED and slammed the piano keys, jolting my senses and forcing me to pay attention. THAT'S BASICALLY THIS ENTIRE SHOW
23:07 i cackled so hard when Duck and Red were addressed here. Caught me so off guard lol
I would ask my creator: “Why do you
get to sit there? While I have to sit here?”
Lesley is terrifying. Her duplicitous personality can be really triggering depending on what experiences one has had in their life, and I definitely had to turn it off for a bit to recollect my wits the first time I watched. I can't help but hold my breath during her scenes, even though I now know when she yells. The tension that follows her first outburst, now that you know this is a thing she does, is really strong.
Honey, wake up, new Water Wave DHMIS video dropped
Your videos are fantastic, man. They are exactly the conversation I want to have with someone about these episodes (but can't). Unlike others, you display a complete lack of pretense, arrogance or condescension and you just seem sincerely taken with the show. You make solid observations and present some theories without taking the joy out of it all, and actually add bits of humour that actually add instead of detract. So, thank you, YT stranger.
I can't agree more with your take on the artistry being what makes DHMIS special. That is exactly what drew me back to animated shows as an adult: It's the absolute creation of a fiction in which each and every detail is considered and created (more like books than film). There is nothing present by accident. Most shows don't really capitalize on this though, which makes DHMIS stand out like mad. The felt props in the first episode were what grabbed me. I thought about how much time it must have taken to create one simple prop out of felt, a prop that would most likely never be used again, and I was totally sold. These were my people, this was my show. Anyone who cares about that level of detail deserves to have a platform and my absolute attention. I am so thankful for stumbling upon this show. I can't understand why it is not receiving more attention (though I don't know about its popularity in the UK, etc.) Then again, I guess layered existential story lines are not exactly mainstream fare. sigh.
Anyway, I really enjoy and appreciate these videos. Great work. (and great hat!) 🙂
ITS HERE GUYS ITS HERE EVERYONE CALM DOWN ITS HERE
So, when you suggested that the pattern on the back of Lesley’s coat might be of David, I took a closer look and said out loud, “Wait a minute. No, that’s a picture of a sun….Omg…A SON??? 😱🤯” lololol
