Concerning Ducks immediate acceptance, I don’t think he actually knew what death was at all. He said “I always knew I deserved to be dead” because he assumed it was a positive thing, and he’s just running his ego, pretending he knew what death was. I think it fits his character well, and it explains his behavior when he’s actually dead being very not dead, not understanding at all how death works.

The mourners appearing out of nowhere and being overbearingly sentimental with you despite not seeming to know you or the deceased very well is such a real thing. You can tell that someone on this show really went through something like that. I find it interesting how Coffin is one of the only few teachers, if not the Only teacher, who actually tried to help the trio. Most of the time the teachers have ulterior motives (i.e, the creepy ass twins from episode 3 or the worm from episode 4) or spiral away/misrepresents the lesson being taught in a way that's just terrifying (i.e, the notebook from the original dhmis or Colin the computer from dhmis 4). But Coffin actually... tries to teach them about death. He's doing his job as a teacher and he's trying to do it correctly? It's not his fault that Duck doesn't understand and is annoying as fuck, nor does he have any control over the grieving process. His job is to bury the dead and teach the trio about death. Which he actually does, and doesn't traumatize or murder the trio in the process (i.e., dhmis 5 or the briefcase from episode 1). This entire series can be described as 'something different' but this episode especially is something different. In the chaos that is the tv series, this episode stands out the most to me.

i feel like the grieving process is such a huge and complicated thing to go through. including a teacher that tries to harm or control them would really steer away from that idea, so i feel like coffin being friendlier than the rest was a really smart decision that allowed a deeper look into the characters and their emotions, showing just how painful it can be ion its own to lose a loved one. the death episode really is one of my favorites for how well it tackles the subject (next to transport maybe, which i love for an entirely different reason)

I think old duck killed new duck. Duck is pretty cruel in this series, meanwhile the replacament they tried for Duck, doesn't do any harm to others, so, most likely, Old Duck killed the "New" one. Her personality didn't seem change when it turned to duck, she even said to red guy that he might have some issues to work with, and felt uncofortable.
She reappears in the last episode of the series, being electrocuted by duck in the second floor, and in the scene yellow was walking towards the stairs, red guy and duck were talking with small volume about what they were doing in the second floor. Now that I think of how Red and Duck seemingly don't understand death, perhaps it's a poke at how adults (as opposed to the Childlike Yellow) are "supposed" to understand what Death is, but frequently don't actually. Death to an adult is just a concept that they've grown to accept without understanding, Death is just over there just as terrifying and mysterious as it was as a child, but now you have a job and bills to pay and can't spend all day worrying about the final end. So when Death finally starts happening around you, or *to* you, now you have to think about this thing you've spent so very little time considering.

While at first it seems like a gag of some sorts, it represents someone who really knew the person who is dead, as they express what they truly feel. I think the more morbid title is fitting for this episode considering this is really the only episode with an inherently morbid topic but is surprisingly quite friendly and inoffensive aside from certain scenes like the formation of the coffin, which seems to be somewhat of a red herring trying to trick the audience into believing we're in for a scare when really we aren't which is made clear when a rather normal looking coffin springs from a messy pool of blood. The teacher too was surprisingly for the most part quite friendly and even helpful, he barely got wound up by Duck's constant annoyance. It's clear that the writers made a conscious decision to make the episode with the most outwardly disturbing theme the least offensive and frightening.

actually no we see stain in episode six, and i think old duck killed stain, but then how is it alive in episode six? i have an explanation:
So we know Stain can morph and change into whatever it wants, and we know that Red Guy turned her into duck, darkening up it’s personality. But it still remained an essence of innocence, meaning that it wouldn’t do something extreme like murdering someone and finding it normal. So we can realize that Duck (who still has his ego and personality), “killed” Stain. But you see, Stain didn’t die. How? Its simple, Stain was still able morph even after becoming a clone of Duck, meaning that after it “died”, when everyone walked away or something, Stain morphed itself back into Stain, and then it started to fear the others, especially Duck, because he tried to kill it. It realized this because of the innocence becoming less. So then it was hiding under the table or chair while everyone else was sitting down talking, it wanted to explore, it didn’t want to hide. So it noticed the staircase, and slowly walked upstairs, hoping nobody would notice, then, it found the Big Boys Room. It extended it’s arm reaching out to open the door, and saw the big boys. They greeted her and they might have had a little chat and chilled for a while, then Stain left. It noticed the next flight of stairs and climbed up to the Bigger Boys Room, which would be it’s end. As once it opened the door, Futuristic Red Guy and Futuristic Duck saw it, and unlike the big boys, they got it and put it on the table. Then they trapped it inside, begging them to let it go, but they hooked up wires and stared experimenting, leading to Stain’s appearance in episode 6. It forgot how to talk, it was deformed massively, it was screaming, it just wanted out. And the thing is, Stain found them in the essence of episode 2, so basically, it was being tortured for 4 episodes. And maybe Red Guy and Duck heard the screaming, and somehow knew exactly what was happening up there, but never really bothered to check or do something about it. Which would be why they knew about it. and the reason Yellow guy didn’t know was probably because he was in another room or just didn’t hear it.

While watching I was convinced that Pink killed the old Duck since you can actually see some maggots on the frame that shows the dead Duck and if we recall his scenes with Coffin, he did have maggots in there already so it kind of checks out, plus its a bit funny since in the end he really did die like the newspaper said he would.

It's just not in character with the still underdeveloped Pink.
Also, while there were maggots, yes, there weren't any on either of their knees, so that's not as definitive as it might seem, since that's where the maggots originally were.
And while it would seem the newspaper was foretelling Duck's death, we have reason to believe it was someone else who looked like Duck who was named David. Not least because very clearly Duck was still alive. Obviously. But also because those weren't his memories, those weren't his family or friends, and that wasn't his gravestone.
Finally, someone else pointed out that Pink does exist later, in episode 6 - she's the little lumpy one. In the "Bigger Boys Room".

So a bunch of dark moments and topics are turned into jokes. Throughout the whole episode, Duck treats being dead as a fun activity and then as just an inconvenience. Most episodes are things taught in a kids' show but made realistic. Whereas this one is a very real subject but it uses kids' show logic.

Yellow guy's delayed reaction in realizing that Duck is gone and not coming back is such a natural and great way of representing grief. Children often don't understand it, but even adults struggle with acceptance and moving on even if they think they know better. Red's reaction seems like apathy at first, but his own inability to process grief and him trying to substitute his needs are also a very realistic depiction of grief.

One problem: Duck seemed to have his organs AND blood removed. The dead duck had a large puddle of blood around him. I doubt that there would have been as much blood of the original WAS the one that died.
In episode 6, Duck even mentions a blob that transformed into him. This is a memory that I doubt that Stain Edwards would have had. In Episode 4, Duck is taking control of the mouse while using Colin on Computer Day, and he says that it won't escape like "last time". If this was Stain Edwards disguised as Duck, he couldn't have POSSIBLY had this memory as he only became sentient after being thrown at a wall.
And there is all the evidence I have gathered that the original Duck was the one that killed Stain Edwards. Any questions?

Honestly it took a few watches for this episode to really settle in and hit home for me, because as I went from "eugh ew creepy clay thing" to getting to know and understand "Stain", I realized I actually really relate to Red guy's form of grieving. Seeming unaffected on the surface, but secretly really wanting to get back who I lost and trying to replace them somehow. Although a hamster is obviously not the same as a person, it really made me look at myself for a moment, as I've had my current hamster for half a year and I still tend to get sad that she doesn't act the way my previous hamster does and try to mould her to be more social and cuddly when that just isn't her. In some ways it applies to my human connections too and it's a good thing to be aware of so I can try to accept things for what they are more. :]

I've been wanting a series breaking down every second of these episodes because there is so much careful thought, effort, and hard work put into every frame. Secrets, hidden details, easter eggs, subtle clues, storytelling devices, etc. that I always felt got ignored or forgotten. I'm highly enjoying these videos that rehash every little part of the story bit by bit from the music, to the character design, to the camera angles, etc. Really amazing stuff.
I'd also like to mention that while the main focus of this episode is dealing with grief, I think it's also a meta commentary on how TV Shows will try to replace the actors who play certain characters, but it just doesn't feel right. It doesn't feel the same and ends uo just being offputting. Like when they tried to replace Aunt Vivian in Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. Maybe not, but that's just my take on it.
Also also, As much as I would love it if Stain Edwards was still alive, I don't think it's in his personality to kill Duck. That;s more of a Duck thing to do, especially by the way he talks. That manner of speech is just a Duck thing. To be honest, I never really thought about it until now, but I do see why having it be Duck who was killed makes more sense because why would the clay have blood and whatnot, and it would also go along with the fact that through the entire episode, death was treated as a joke, but now Duck would ACTUALLY be dead. Definitely gonna have to keep that one in the back of my brain for future episodes.
Side Note: Stain Edwards is a boy not a girl. He mentions that his name would be Stain Edwards, The Adventure BOY. And the Wiki also addresses him as a male.

They include Easter eggs, hints for the future, references to the past and intentional misdirects for everyone to pick apart, and them saying that 'every theory is correct' is a beautiful sentiment that inspires creativity in everyone ❤

I dont know why the idea of the duck we get is the pink clay?
One, duck has no blood as when the coffin cuts his finger he has smoke, and when he shows off him having no organs before getting buried he didn't have blood. Pink is too nice and wouldn't kill someone AND that death scene has BLOOD. Between episodes I can see being replaced but right after being dug up? And also pink would have no reference of what is normal and when duck kills pink it's because it doesn't feel right ("no, there's only 3 of us") as if he forgot they said just moments before that there could be 4 of them or as if he decided it didn't "feel right" meaning he knows its supposed to be 3, which pink wouldn't because he's only done it once

Oh, it was for sure Pink. She isnt giving up her new place in the house for anything, especially not after the pain she went through to be literally molded by Red.

The "Pink blob" has a name and is also a "He" not a "She". His name is Stain Edwards: The Forever Boy!

Bro duck is just used to dying so if he dies he’s gonna be like ‘well, nothing I can do about it’

I like how the coffin has one of the creepiest designs with his crooked teeth (his voice just makes it worse), but somehow he manages to be the least villainous of the teachers in any of the episodes.

Earlier in the episode we saw that duck doesn’t bleed anymore and since there’s a lot of blood when a duck dies at the end that must mean it was pink who died not the original. And pass this point duck never bleeds again.

I think it was duck who killed the replacement because that way he looked at pink was as if he was like he was angry at pink and as if he didn't want pink there
