- It was Denmark 1-1 England as the Three Lions missed the opportunity to seal their place in the last 16 of Euro 2024. Here's my take on the game, get yours in the comments!

A result that suits England better than Denmark. I think we were okay without being really good, as we still lack real threats in front of goal. Regarding England, you seem oddly fragmented and there's no real fighting spirit to be seen, or a clear plan. Even a point against Slovakia and five points in total will probably be enough to take 1st place but in the knock out stages you'll have to raise your game considerably to avoid an early exit. Perhaps the players need the pressure to perform?
We've managed to look like the worst team out there over the 2 games..can't even execute simple passes,can't play through teams,constantly giving the ball away.
Frustrating and embarrassing to watch,when we should be do much better.

This game pretty comprehensively demonstrated why England has won naff all since 1966, and even that was a gift from a soviet linesman.
Southgates days are numbered surely I think the best outcome will be another weak performance followed by a loss from the first decent team then Manager quits
I totally agree. England are not close to the other top sides in the euros. Southgate should of gone well before the euros. We need a manager with attacking style of football that's the strength of this team

Another shocking performance from England, Southgate has had months to plan our team to be right up there with the best teams,we look disjointed,no fight in midfield,powder puff up front, defence was my worry but we have done ok there with the crystal palace defender the stand out player in both games, Southgate way is pass sideways and then go backwards,no team cohesion,gutted like most England fans but my pain will be over soon when we fall short again,hope I'm wrong but Southgate has to go after the tournament,🤣🏴🏴🇬🇫🦁🏆

I watched Spain after the England match and the difference quite frankly was abysmal. Spain know how to play possession football properly. England don't.
Shambles… sloppy sloppy sloppy. Passing was poor, concentration was lacking and we are lacking creativity in those crucial moments and the players that can bring that creativity are not performing.
Woy remembered for Kane on corners.

Don’t understand playing a RB and LB, a RB at CDM and a number 10 on left wing. Three outfield players playing out of position.
You could have Foden do Broadhead role of cutting in but need a natural LWB to offer the width.

I have been giving Southgate the benefit of the doubt as his job is to win the tournament not entertain fans. Conservative play that minimizes risk can win tournaments and if he wins, nobody will give a shit that it was boring and every game was 1-0
But its clear this team cannot play that way and that if they keep doing this, they are headed for early exit and Southgate will be fired.

We’ve seen half the group stage now and at the absolute best I’d put us fifth behind France, Spain, Germany and Portugal- and it’s not even close. We’ve got the talent, but Southgate doesn’t have a clue how to utilise it properly
Terrible attitude from Bellingham through the game..
Last game he was still hyped as the hero. Thre trouble is that England is short of fullbacks. If you leave 33% of the pitch unused, you're getting shafted, a lesson that Germany learned the hard way after losing Lahm after the 2014 world cup.

I am afraid to say that England fell well short of the hype again. The real issue isn't Southgate, but far deeper, as displayed by the parochial and insular nature of British football, because let's face it, England are a mid tier European side, hosting a European League called the Premier League. To say England are favourites when they don't even have a recognized Left Back, a lightweight, and ball to feet forward line showed how poor the punditry and so called analysis.
Watching England tonight was watching Spain circa 2006. However we are now in 2024, where teams can play multiple formations in during different game phases, can play either on the counter, possession or direct football, where players are calm on the ball and do the basics so well. But most startling of all is the British impulse to be 'joystick managers' who don't trust the players to solve problems. This is coached at such a young age in the UK, that when they play for their club respectively, they are 'coached' on the pitch by there foreign counter-parts, while in an England shirt they look lost.
Unless more English players, and more importantly coaches, are exposed to European football at all levels, then England will stay 10 years behind everybody else.
Left backs and Right backs are hard to find. Germany faced the same problem after Lahm packed in after the 2014 world cups. They've done bugger all since.

Truly shocking. They played with one striker, and we had four defenders and 2 two midfielders within ten yards of him. That's two games we haven't got a cross in from the left. It's simple. Drop Trent and put Bellingham just in front of Rice. Put Gordon on the left and play Foden centrally. Push the defence up the pitch and make the game more compact. Press as a team in the right moments. Tell Kane not to be more than 3 yards from their defensive line and play the ball to his feet. Tell him to at least try and get behind the back line. It makes a defender think. Other than the goal, he was shocking tonight.
That was abysmal. Some of the best attacking talent in Europe, and we have no idea how and when to press. How to pass a ball and how to look like a team that should be looking to win a tournament. If Southgate doesn't sort this out, he needs to go.
That pitch was a joke.... Not even talking about the result.... How did a pitch cut up that early... Wtf are the groundsman doing

As I said pre-tournament, TAA should not be anywhere near the team. Gallagher should be Rice's CM partner or , if not, Bellingham. The latter dropping back would enable Palmer to partner Kane up front, in a sort of No. 10 position, & still enable Saka to do his 60 minutes on the right wing with Gordon on the left.
The players are good enough so when all & sundry are picking on individual players and/or saying they don't look fit enough it's clear Southgate is the problem (in all aspects: prep, training, communication, tactics, strategy...). It's exactly the same as happened at Millwall under Edwards until Harris came in and immediately sorted it out. However, it's unprecedented for England to sack a manager (& Holland) in-tournament. It will get worse!
Definitely had Iceland 2016 vibes watching that game. I've given up trying to diagnose England's problems so I'll just hope the football Gods decide to smile on us. It was nice having a break from all the negativity for a few brief years, anyway.
The issue with England is that we play so tediously when we could easily play like France or Brazil as most of our best players are further up the pitch. Bellingham, kane, palmer, foden, saka, gordon, and even watkins.
Good analysis Ben. England may have star players but only for their clubs when they have talented foreigners around for support. This is a different situation which presents a big problem for Southgate. Perhaps he needs to have a word with McKenna on how to get his England players playing as a team.

What have they been doing in training? Didn't seem to be a game plan at all. They've been steadily getting worse these last few games
This is why i cant abide southgate. Pressing and runs are things you learn in training. The coach dictstes the press and run triggers and its clearly not something he knows how to train.
This is a systematic peoblem with england. We need a manager with more tactical understanding. He was a basic and boring player and is the same as a coach.

How is it, given the length of Southgate’s tenure that he doesn’t know his best team or how he wants to play? Also, why is he experimenting with Trent in midfield DURING a tournament? Isn’t that what friendliest are for? This might be a heresy but I’d drop Kane, he is offering no movement up front at all.
The trouble with Kane as captain is he is trying to help out his woeful team mates all over the field, and therefore not being up front where he should be waiting for a good ball to his feet. He should not need to be farting about in defence and midfield.

This lot believe what the press say about , oh how good you are, well they should stop paying these and other footballers stupid thousands of pounds a week, stop there wages make them walk home, the effin speed they play they might make it home by Xmas
No one looked good today, not convinced by either Trent or Gallagher in midfield.
Feel Watkins did decent when he came on and probably more than Kane has so far in the tournament.
Guehi has looked solid so far, one positive.
I do not have infinite days holiday off work. I booked a day off today to watch this.
