I've met someone like this guy. They know they can't repay the loan on a said date but will lie to you that they can and will. They can be so sweet when asking, with low voice filled with sincerity but they're just plain liars that pick on gullible kind-hearted people. They'll never tell you the truth, it's always I'll give you tomorrow.
I learnt something new. If I lend money to someone I should ask for a post dated cheque. If when I go to withdraw the money the cheque bounces then it becomes a criminal case. Thank you judge Funmi for this good tip
@What if the person had a savings account not a cheque but a withdrawal slip?

It is people like this man that make some of us to be scared to help out even when we are able. How are we to survive without helping each other.
Lesson: don’t give out loans you’re not ready to loose. Also don’t judge people based on the people they associate with, just because he comes with big men doesn’t mean he’s credit worthy

You said it all when you loan out money do the following:
-Get a collateral
-Get a paper work done
-If possible get a guarantor
-Lastly be ready to loose the money as sad as it may be
The guy took advantage of the fact that she's young in age and has no one to speak or fight for her. I like how she dealt with him legally so he knows she's not one to be taken for granted. He took her for granted. Even in court,he still doesn't know when he will pay her back the money.... Thank you judge Funmi for the assistance.

Honestly I pray that God should touch the heart of someone that has money to step in and assist this guy pay off the debt. Its obvious he is struggling.
She did not seek for a friend's advice to lend a stranger such amount of money. You can't pity someone's predicament at the detriment of your own.she has learnt from this greatly.

Sometimes people are in such a mess that even the money you loan them is NOT enough to help them out. Up front they even see no way repaying you, but they cant afford to tell you the truth. So they just drag you along...

Her situation brought tears to my eyes. She has a heart of gold and he took advantage of that. Judge Funmi gave her wise advice. My prayer is that she will get back on her feet real soon.
Neither a lender nor a borrower be was what the principal of my high school would say. Don't lend money you cannot afford to give away. Don't go asking to borrow money you have no assured way of paying back.
We all have moments when our good hearts and desperate difficult situations get in trouble and cause us pain. I feel for both of them.

These days it would take a lot of conviction for me to release my hard-earned money to someone in loan. If you could not convince me, go to the bank to get a loan, since I don't provide financial services.

I loan a friend 85k for the pass 10 years now he has not paid we end it up with quarrels so I forgot the money.
Wow 💕 I was expecting that kind assistance from the court and yes, the judge did just that.
I have changed my mind not to borrow anybody a dime again since my very close friend ended our friendship and avoided me because she doesn't want to pay back what I borrowed her. For 3yrs now, we have stopped talking and she is no where to be found.
I felt for the guy, I pray help will come for both of them, money spoil friendship a lot.

I rarely makes comment on the web but each time i watch this court cases I am move to comment. Judge, you are and excellent human being in the way and manner you handle these cases. The young lady was calm but one can sense the anguish in her face and voice. How can one assist the young lady with the little one can.

My aunt dat I lent moni, d matter end 4case, quarrel. Took yrs b4 I goy my moni back in bits & pieces. I also lent a course mate som moni 4him 2do his project work. It's bin over 10yrs now, till 2day he didn't repay me. He evn abused & insulted me wen I asked 4my moni. Meanwhile shortly after graduation, he evn got a job in an oil servicing company in Warri, our friends, fellow course mates told me he's doing well financially. So I tried reaching him severally, calls & txts but he insulted me instead.
I let it go, but I'v vowed never 2lend anybody moni in my life. Apart frm my direct, biological siblings, I will NEVER, EVER lend anybody moni

You will think that the people in govt would have copied your model to begin to set up tv courts to help poor people who cannot afford a lawyer?
