We use a 4 weight usually. I think it’s slightly heavier than your Aran. Impeccable or craftsmart value yarn. Stitch definition is clear. Love all those blankets. I love the water lily one so gorgeous but I also love the ones that change color frequently.💖

My go to yarn is Hobby Lobby I love this yarn. Love all your blankets,they are beautiful.love yourroom decorations. Can't wait to see what the Rose blanket is going to be. I live in Alabama.

The bags are tulle/organza, not muslin which is a solid cotton fabric. For those of you asking about buying them, yes you can also buy them, just google tulle bags.
I get my bags in tulle from Etsy. They come in all sizes and colors. They are tulle I think.

Hi Anja it is nice to see all your blankets, I’m new to crochet but I did 4 blankets going on the fifth now, I live in the US I used mostly red heart supper saver it goes quick but with big blankets it gets heavy, I used also red heart with love it is softer that supper saver, the Caron simply soft is a 4 weight but it is in the light side so between 3 and 4 not exactly 4, I wanted to try the style craft dk and I ordered some to make the duck egg grandma CAL blanket 👏 waiting to try the dk yarn

I cannot get enough of this video, I have watched it three or four times I’ve the year! I have been both knitting and crocheting for years and have made many many blankets and seeing all of your blankets is so inspiring! And your passion is so exciting, we are very much one in the same as far as our love for blankets is concerned!!

P.s. If you use Super Saver use the ones made in turkey they are so much softer than the ones made in the U.S. or China. The same thing with mainstay, the ones made in Turkey as well.
Turkey just knows how to make acrylic yarns so much softer and America and China need to take some notes! I am a U.S. citizen to!

Hi Anja, I loved seeing all your beautiful blankets. I made the Ode to Anna blanket using SSDK that I ordered from the UK. Never used dk weight before (so light), my go to yarn for blankets is the Caron One Pound with a 6mm hook. A little stiff when using it, but softens up nicely after the wash.🌴

My very favorite yarn these days is Premier Anti Pilling acrylic - 4 weight which is similar to Aran weight ( although Aran may be between or 3 and 4 weight worsted) it is soft, durable and sheer pleasure to work. The standard here in the US is akin to Aran. They are a #4 weight and the ones you mentioned are a #4. Caron cakes are more like a #3 so quite a bit lighter than the standard #4, which is Red Heart, Caron and many, many other brands. And kudos to your use of color. It is amazing and makes everything you do really stand out from others.

Hi Anja! Glad to see you are looking so well. I found a site here in Canada that carries Chunky Monkey yarn (makes me think of Ben and Jerry's ice cream but i don't want to gain back the 50 pounds i just lost, so trying NOT to think about it!) so i thought I would get 13 balls as you suggested, 3 of my favourite colour (rosewood) and 2 each of the other 5 colours. Well 33 balls of yarn later....yes, i now have quite an assortment coming! I am excited to get started on this blanket but it will probably be at least 2 weeks before my yarn arrives. Post has been understandably slow these days, also this site ships from British Columbia and I am in Ontario. I have no go-to yarn really, I am trying various kinds. I just took up crochet again this year after being many years away from it, and I am gobsmacked at the variety available now. I used to avoid acrylic because it really wasn't very nice quality but it has come a long way even since the early 90s when i did my last project. It was an afghan in a wool-acrylic blend by Patons. Right now I am enjoying making a small rug in James C Brett marble chunky (colour 46, blue-green-teal shades) and I made the same pattern in Red Heart Gemstones (citrine) for a more autumnal look. It is just a little throw rug for the foyer. I like the quality of the James C Brett a little better than the Red Heart. But I have worked with Scheepjes Whirl and also their Stonewashed and loved the quality of their yarns. Thank you for all the hard work you put into your designs - you are much loved and greatly appreciated. Look forward to every episode!

@@OpheliaTalks I just got my order of Chunky Monkey today - wow, what a lovely yarn it is! Looking forward to making this one. Trying to decide on my colours now! Rosewood is more purple than i expected and pearl pink is the one closest to my favourite colour (ashes of roses or dusty rose) but it is still a lovely shade. Excited to work with this yarn!

I use Red Heart Super Saver and Hobby Lobby's "I Love This Yarn" both are good and Hobby Lobby has their yarn on sale every other week and every day you can use a 40% off coupon. So if you live close to a Hobby Lobby, you can use a new coupon every day. Wal Mart has a lower priced acrylic yarn called Mainstays at $1.97 per skein, and it's good, but even now it's hard to find colors. When I go there I pickup colors I always use and it's a good price. Mostly 100% acrylic yarns, they wash and wear very well. I must get a handle on storage of my yarns. Right now I have yarns in grocery plastic bags hanging all over my dining room table chairs. Once they were so heavy the chair fell over, lol. So I'm working on some sort of organization, but I don't stop crocheting long enough to do that. Shame on me.

I am in the US I have so many favorite yarns. I love Caron Simply Soft for blankets. It has beautiful drape. It holds up to machine washing and drying, never pills or fades. Premier Yarns are always nice, they have a new Frostie worsted, its thick and squishy. Lion Brand Heartland is another favorite. The colors are glorious. Really I don't think you can go wrong with any acrylic Lion Brand. I am not a fan of Red Heart Super Saver. yes, its a workhorse yarn, color range is amazing, its cheap, and it stands up to anything. But it isn't that soft. However my real go to yarns are ones I order online - Stylecraft, Paint Box, King Cole, Scheepjes Color Crafter, and Schachenmayr Bravo
PS Caron Big cakes are 100% acrylic.

Being from the US , Ted Heart Super Saver is, I guess, the go-to yarn, but recently, I've fallen in love with Caron and Lion Heart . Honestly, I love just about all yarn! I'm a bit of an addict to yarn. lol, I love watching your videos!

I live in the US and I actually prefer either Stylecraft or Paintbox. They are so soft and I love the color choices. I can get them online either from Woolwarehouse or LoveCrafts. Recently, only Lovecrafts is available for shipping, and I had difficulty getting Stylecraft, but I actually think more are available now. I live in a small town so I would need to drive about 45 minutes to a yarn shop anyway so online ordering is perfect.

Red Heart Super Saver is a worsted weight #4 could be considered Aran weight. It is not very soft.
Caron is a lighter worsted weight #4. Very soft but has a sheen and splits easily.
Both yarns are acrylic and very popular. I personally do not care for them but have used them.
Your Style Craft Special DK is soft and is very nice to work with and reminds me of wool.

For your Granny cluster blanket square how do you manage to keep your blanket looking so uniform and flat. I am working on one at the moment and when I lie it flat or hold it up like you did you see waves along the crocheting. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Xx
Oh thank you Sharmeen! I think your 'problem' maybe a case of tension, if it's not a consistent tension you will see the 'waves' appear because the yarn is pulled differently, practice, practice, practice is the only answer, Anja x

Wool warehouse won't reveal their stockists if those bags and as you say the size of the bags they supply with the wool order is dependent on what you order. I don't crochet as much as you but i would like them in the very large size.

Hello Anja, I will try and write this again. I was writing and then my writing disappeared, anyway, I was saying that I loved all of your blankets and even the ones that you were teasing us with. Can't wait until they come out. I'm from the US and I like to use Red Heart Soft it comes in 5 oz / 141g - 256yds/234m. it comes in Medium 4 it is 100% Acrylic. There are no dye lot to this yarn. It is very soft but now you have got me hook on Stylecraft DK and I love it this was my first time using it and I did get one of those bags with my order from LoveCraft. I will check out Stylecraft Aran and see about it. I was crocheting as you were showing us your blanket. It was so relaxing. Thanks again.

How do you wash them? I'm new to crocheting....did a "slouched beanie", washed it and it shrank 😕....doing a temperature blanket now and I'm dreading it as it may shrink like the hat 😕😕😕

Hai ik heb de oplossing voor je theelichtjes . Omdat ik ziek word van geuren doe ik daar niet echte theelichtjes in .Ik heb oplaadbare. Dan kun je daar aan de wand wel lichtjes inhebben .De huisjes zijn zoooooo mooi .

I have purchased the yarn you used for the 12 point star I saw the tutorial but you were using a cotton yarn and I wish to get the pattern for the chunky monkey yarn that you used in those beautiful colors so I will know when to start and stop with each row of color Where can I purchase it if I have to
Patricia Huckstep the pattern is the same just use whatever yarn you want! I did three rows for each colour
Anya - What do you use to store blankets and projects that you finish and don't give away.
I use the netting bags that the yarn comes in now, very handy, Anja x

What is the name of your storage bags again? Can u get them in the US?
I store my blankets in the organza bags that Wool Warehouse send their yarns out in, but now we also send our yarn out in organza bags, we get ours from Poland!!
