MY FAVORITE HOTKEY NOT MENTIONED : Select idle villagers in radius. A lot of people do not know how this works. It does not select all idle villagers on your entire screen as most people assume. What it does do is select a random idle villager AND ALSO all idle villagers in very close proximity to that villager. I use this hotkey to replace 'select idle villager'. Try it and you'll see, you will too! If I can get beasty to use this hotkey I'd feel spiritually fulfilled
Love your channel man, great content. I’ve played AOE 3 for 17 years or so, and just now getting a good handle on AOE IV thanks in part to your videos. Having a lot more fun now!
@ I probably would be if I had the time. It has admittedly been a couple years since I’ve played competitively in III. I never really got into at the higher levels.
@@Vindicator7777 I was a big fan of Ottomans for rushing way back in the day, also had a good amount of fun with the Dutch and Portuguese civs! British is a classic. The rockets in aoe III still look bad ass today
id agrue select all army is not the worst if your actively thinking when your using it. of course i think select all idle military is a better hotkey but it doesnt select units thats are moving to their rally point which can be annoying.
Unlike sc2 in aoe4 some hotkeys are pre-set in the default settings. H selects your TC, f1 selects all production etc. I find these more useful personally.
I use hot keys for select all barracks, arch, tc, etc as a substitute for assigning numbers. I’ll also use the cycle hot keys for tc, keep as a substitute for camera binds, since they are at important map positions anyway. Finally, you can select an army, and then click plus drag to pull up an arrow, that arrow will orient your army in a particular direction, AND you can also do this with sheep, so they line up along the edge of tc… you monster!
Great stuff. I'm still having a problem with cycling through units like Scouts or monks. I hit the hot key and it takes to me to a single scout but doesn't continue cycling to the others?
Thing I do is going into the hotkey menu and hotkey select all barracks enz buildings to the hotkeys I want. Great because I don't have to worry about adding the new production buildings to the hotkey and if at any point you want to use 5 for something else, the ingame hotkey overrides the menu selected one.
One thing that wasnt mentioned, how do you select only economic units among military units? I use the setting where it prefers mil units, but how do you reverse after a raid for example?
you know how you can cycle through selected units with tab, does anyone know of a way to remove certain units from the ones you've selected without clicking, like just with a hotkey?
like similarly when I cycle through each unit in my selected group using tab key I should be able to add each one to a seperate ctrl group when highlighted. instead all units in the group are added.
@Stryker992 I have tested it and it looks like each monk follows the full set of commands. Essentially, if you create a second monk I think you need to manually direct it to follow a different set of commands.
@@Stryker992 ideally you make 2 monasteries and shift click raly points to different relics from each one of them - one monastery to 3 relics, second monastery to remaining 2 relics. Other option is to make 1 monastery, shift click raly point to 2 relics, make a prelate, and while making second prelate, change the raly points for remaining relics.
Question here: during a battle when you must focus a type of unit, lets say crossbows vs knights but theres lots of other enemy units. Is there a way to kill the knights without individually click all the knights ? When theres 30 units to click it becomes too much to click
Not to be one to tell one of the best players in the game how to play - but why don't you use the "select all" binds in the menu so you aren't setting them every single game? AKA select all monasteries so they are always on 8 and you don't have to bind it in the game. This way you don't have to keep adding every new barracks to hotkey 5, for example.
This doesn't function the same as a control group if you want the ability to doubleclick the bind to jump to the location of the buildings. That's the reason i don't use these binds personally.
There's a few other reasons. - Sometimes later in the game you have a production building on the far side of the map you want to exclude, so that the units coming out of it don't have to walk all the way across the map to where you want them to be. Especially useful for siege, which can take minutes to get there. - Sometimes there's buildings under an influence that make units cheaper or faster, in which case you want to exclude those that are not in the influence. - Then there's some landmarks that can produce units cheaper/faster/slower (burgrave, monastery landmarks, the english keeps & council hall, etc) that you may want to in- or exclude. All that being said, I do use the select all stables/barracks/archery ranges keys :P They are very easy and work most of the time.
Does anyone know how to create multiple monks and all have them go adn get a different relic? The video only shows it with one monk and in my games if you make multiple munks and shift click multiple relics they all end up going to the same location even when that relic has already been taken by a previous monk.
you just have to make sure to shift click back to the monastary that way if one of the relics is already caputured it will auto command to the next one. like select monastary and then shift click back to monastary after every relic. if you select monastary and then shift click to all the relics the religous units will go to each relic location whether or not they have already been picked up
@ the problem is if u queue 3 monks, first monk pops out heads towards the first relic, the second monk that pops out starts heading for that first relic too…
@@apster07 yes like i said that should only happen if you dont shift queue back to monastary after each individual relic. if you watch wam or puppys stream they do it all the time.
Question, is there a CANCEL hotkey when you clicked Q once, but you want to go in the W menu instead, but you didn't click a second time yet so you're not holding a building yet. Is there any hotkey to go back? I haven't found it. and it's annoying because i usually need to fake select abuilding first then cancel that building, but i want to know if there's a way to cancel without pressing a second time for a building.
My hotkeys: 1-3 Army Usually 1 infantry, 2 cavalry, 3 siege, but it also depend of army comp 4: Dock OR Market OR sometimes a 4th army (like trebuchet) 5: Town Center 6: Barrack 7: Archery Range 8: Stable 9: Siege workshop

This is pure gold. This man loves this game and knows its mechanics in and out, its amazing to learn from him.

1-3 Army
Usually 1 infantry, 2 cavalry, 3 siege, but it also depend of army comp

5: Town Center
6: Barrack

8: Stable

You can still use a keyboard and mouse one Xbox by the way Nevermind controller only
most importent hot key is alt f4 change my mind.
alt f4 twice + enter and you instantly turn off the computer
11. i don't understand why this is not shown as command in the hotkey ui... that would have saved my ducking finger
You can’t change the drop off location on Xbox for pro scouts. Real BS from the devs..
Thanks for the tips! Need to blend in stand ground!
hopefully the drop off command cancel gets patched so annoying
All these hotkeys and here I am on Xbox with only 1/2 the hotkeys available 😢
Is there choose all prelates/monks hot key?
Not yet
micro stuff and shift command ... okay then ... gonna be conquerer 3 in heartbeat
Is there a way to use the farm trick around town center? Is there a way to use the farm trick around town center?
