Just thought I’d clear something up, this isn’t me telling you not to go in the fanzone, if you’re looking to attend a game and have an enjoyable day then go for it - it’s all we’ve ever wanted for years, is for fans to come to the Racecourse and enjoy the day. My issue isn’t so much the price but the way they’ve gone about selling this tickets to supporters! Hope this clears things up a bit, I didn’t quite make it clear in the video This will be the last ‘slightly’ negative video for a while 😅 up the table topping reds 🏴
This was brought up by Humphrey at the Fearless in Devotion event a few weeks back. He said they made a mistake in calling it a fan zone, when in reality it’s a hospitality thing to draw people in before games. It seems like since it’s been going on for a bit, a lot of the fans actually do like it and think it’s worth the tenner
Rare video were I don’t agree with Liam. This might be a big change but if the town wants the team to keep progressing this kind of thing will keep happening. Imagine a run to the Championship next season?! Things are gonna get more expensive and the team needs to pay wages and expansions. A £10 increase is not that bad when your team is climbing up the tables. Money is clearly going to the right places. From abroad, I bought the iFollow year pass, it’s not a great service and kinda expensive but I feel I’m doing my little part to support the team. They need to make money to expand the grounds and keep winning. In my opinion, they did think of the fans, the fans want their team to succeed and that’s the bottom line.
Agree with 100%! My issue isn’t so much the price, it’s the way how the club goes about selling these tickets, if season tickets went up £100 if it meant the club would have a larger budget I’d more than happily pay it
10 quid for a cool experience. Photo ops, games, food, drinks, entertainment. Seems like a 'tailgate' and worth the cost. Perhaps buy a ticket elsewhere if you don't like the Kop stand fanzone
100% I agree, I think the club has done a good job in terms of what they offer but it’s nothing that you don’t find over the road for free! However what I can understand is that if people are willing to pay the extra £10, but it should be an option for every single seat in the temporary stand
I don’t want to be hated by Wrexham fans because I don’t know how the family incomes are there. Here in the states, you can’t go to any professional game here without paying around $400 total between 2 people for one game. When I heard season tickets for a Wrexham season was £265 I was amazed.
Worth bearing in mind, the average salary in Wrexham is about £35k, but an extra tenner for a hospitality area doesn't seem too bad if you're making a special trip to visit the town. I know I'd probably do it if I made the journey up from the SW with the kids.
Hey Liam - Stockport fan in peace. We have a fan zone which is free for anybody with a ticket - it sounds like yours is about getting a guaranteed ticket - the club will be getting money from food and drink bought in the fanzone surely( County offer 10 % discount for all season ricket holders for all food and drink). Ours is rammed and is making money. I guess ambition comes with a price and while you continue to sell out, other revenue streams will be looked at Great to see you up there going gead to head with us again. Good luck for the rest of the season with the obvious exception of 2 games
Liam, I generally agree with much of what you have to say about the club, but in this case, it is part and parcel with the progress of the club moving up through the tiers. Can't be a non-league club and chase promotion in League One. As others have already stated, pricing is going to be tricky with all of the financial commitments current and future. While I can appreciate the concern of the locals not wanting the price to go up, it is going to be difficult to expand the supporters base (and grow the club) without some of the amenities that have been installed to date. If Wrexham is going to be a big club, these are basic building blocks of growing.
Perspective from across the pond... If we want to pay for what we want as we go up, (stadium, players etc.) prices for a lot of items need to incrementally go up. I would LOVE to see a comparison of Wrexham prices vs. other league one, championship, and Prem teams. This feels like a case of be carful what you wish for, it might be more expensive.
100% I totally understand that and the pricing isn’t really the main concern of mine, it’s the fact that the club are putting out a large amount of tickets that requires you to pay the extra price, It wouldn’t be such an issue if they gave every fan the option to buy a fanzone ticket. I think we all expect the prices to continue to rise to as it’s a very normal occurrence in football these days
Liam, you aren't forced to do anything. While prices must be somewhat realistic for your local supporters, the club must also run on income to pay for the things to build it. You can't pay for wages, buy land, build a training ground, or build an academy, and attempt to rebuild Cae Ras, thinking that ownership takes the full brunt of it on themselves. Have you used the fanzone?
I totally understand your point, I didn’t quite clear up in the video that my frustration if you want to say isn’t aimed at the prices, it’s at the way how they sell the tickets - I’d have very little issue if the club gave everyone the option of paying the extra £10 to have access to the fanzone, however, this isn’t the case. I understand that the club needs to continue to drive revenue into the club and we’re more than happy to
They built the temp stan thinking they would lose money but wanting to allow more fans to see the match. Now things have changed and with the continued goal of making the club sustainable with potential entry in the Championship they are going to have to try something. Humphrey has already admitted that they're reviewing the whole structure
Listen ...if Wrexham needs to pay for it self, wrexham afc need to get all the pennies in...what club doesnt do the same.....btw wrexham lucky to get 5k few yrs ago..now full house, needs to these extra experiences....go wrexham.
Liam… on the off chance nobody has mentioned this to you… in the same way a player has to exercise and train, a commentator or broadcaster *should* do voice training. You do very, very well compared to most people. If you do regular, ongoing diction and enunciation training, it will aid your career. You are great!
They should start administrative procedures for expanding another stand at the Racecourse. It seems they will reach championship level before the 1st expansion is finished...
As a foreign fan I do think locals should not bear the financial burden of the club alone. If there was a way to do it, a local price and a visiting price could be established to maybe help things work out financially. Obviously then the problem becomes wanting to sell less local tickets because it makes less money(and might incentivize locals to scalp tickets), but if the club really belongs to the town as Rob and Ryan have said they need to find a way to enable the average local fan to see the game in person. This is tricky. Going up leagues too is only going to exasperate financial demands on the club. I don't think there is an easy answer, but would very much like to stay up to know if the situation does change in the near future.
Is there an assumption the locals are in the permanent stands which are covered (holding season tickets) , and mostly tourists in the temporary stands?
Not necessarily, you’ll find that they do put general tickets on sale in each of the 3 stands for every game but the large proportion of fans in the 3 stands will have been ST holders prior to the takeover, so in a way you could say that I think the temporary stand will house people who are still local that possibly can’t make every game or have shown a new interest in the club
Just paid 40 bucks for a minor league baseball game for a group of six. So I understand how this can be a big ask. But isn’t this an optional upgrade of tickets? Best of luck with the season and I’m enjoying your content!
We live in Wrexham, went on the website at 10am on the day of the ticket sale looking for 4 tickets together, that was the only place that I could find what I wanted, if I just wanted a ticket for myself could have got one in the mold Road
@ghostron5012 it's more the case of paying for something I don't really want, but because I needed 4 tickets together that was my only option, even though I went on the ticket site as soon as the tickets went on sale
@LiamRobertsWxm . I think you should have the option, if you want to go in the fanzine or not, I live in Wrexham so don't really need to get to the ground that early.
Winning and promotion earning teams cost more, so it cost fans more. It is all part of building and sustaining a winning team. Im from Kansas City, have been a chiefs fan since the early 90s. We went from being a team that only won 4 playoff games in 50 years, to winning 3 of the last 5 SB. The cost to the ownership has gone up to keep and get great players to keep the winning going, and thus the cost of being a fan has gone up. Prices going up should be expected, when your team is winning.
I totally understand where you’re coming from Neil and I hope you’re able to attend a game very soon! Don’t get me wrong I’m not forcing anyone to not buy a fanzone ticket, some people like yourself would happily pay for it and I’m sure you’d love the community of the club and we’d welcome you with open arms
I think my rebuttal to your fanzone comments would be this: the documentary made it clear that the KOP was a horrible financial decision for the owners, and almost certainly came at a financial loss. The fan zone seems like a way for the owners to recoup at least a bit of that money. Not saying it's the best way they could do it, but I do think it's worth discussing just how they *should* do instead. How else should they recoup the money? Raise general ticket prices instead? And if the answer is "they shouldn't recoup the money," I'd just say that Rob and Ryan seem to have invested quite a lot of money into Wrexham AFC and insisting they lose even more without any way to make some back feels unfair to owners who have really worked hard to lift Wrexham up. And just to be clear: I would be singing a different tune if the owners were clearly making bank on the team and just increasing their profits further with the fan zone, but that's not what's happening, I don't think!
The effort of the management has put forth. Should be matched by fans there and worldwide full support, nothing less. Prices are fair, but maybe there should be little discount on families.
I got ticket for temporary stand without fan zone for crawly game but seemed to have to buy fan zone ticket for first 2 games so maybe a change giving the option?

At least, that's what my understanding is, if I'm wrong I'd love to learn more.
From having a quick look the clubs sells an amount of tickets per game that are requiring you to pay the £10 extra. This is why fans are getting upset it's due to the normal tickets selling out meaning that they have to pay the £10 extra

Completely agree Liam! I was in the fan zone for the Shrewsbury game, I won't be attending again it's a waste of money. Extra £10 for overpriced beer, 1 food truck and 1 coffee stand with a few benches under a marquee. I saw another comment comparing it to an American tailgate, it's nothing like that... it's nothing more than a cashgrab by Wrexham. To all the yanks in the comments, and extra £40 to go into a tiny, cramped area is a lot it sucks.
seems like this is the price advancement and paying for extra amenities. this wasn't put together for folks who are trying to save money or families to go every week. this was done to maximize the temporary space as is. non-league prices and experiences were never going to be the norm as the popularity of the club blew up attracting international matchday fans and as the climb to the prem continues.
I’ve seen a few complaints about ifollow from the past few games, have you had any issues with it? And what seems to be the problem that everyone’s having?

37th! Liam, I hope they don’t price and push the locals out of the matches. Money isn’t everything. I hope they rethink the 10£ charge for the sake of the supporters. Great job as always Liam. Roger in Pierre South Dakota USA

Agree. Simple solution is for the club to reduce prices to suit all fans
