Outplayed. Simple. I don't like pointing out poor play, but I think Mendy really needs to put in some work. He was more a liability out there than an asset at the end. I'll concede Birmingham is a very strong team, but looking at the targeted fouls on Mclean and Mullen showed some pretty poor sportsmanship. The horsecollar on Mclean's breakaway, and the straight up grappling on Mullen were pretty disgusting. The red could've honestly come a bit sooner, but I think the result still holds. We got beat.
Blues fan, enjoyed the review, and subscribed, only comment/constructive, maybe easier to say “blues and not Birmingham city all the time” or whichever team you’re playing. Enjoyed it, keep it up
Birmingham Fan here , Have to say that was an honest review of the match I personally think that Wrexham will be top6 fighting for playoff place and who knows maybe an automatic spot Birmingham havent really gelled as yet but we are getting there and when we do i think we may be a very hard team to play against but that aside Wrexham will be alright so good luck with the rest of the season
Blues fan here, a very good video with a good honest review of a great game. Your figures were a bit out when you was talking about money spent. While conveniently not mentioning that we sold almost £20M worth too. Money is not everything though.... Paik was a free transfer and Iwata only cost £700k yet they were probably the best two on the pitch. They dominated midfield and both would not look out of place in the premier league. Paik is top class. Good luck for rest of the season, Wrexham put a good fight. Terrific first 20 minutes and you defended very good after that. See you in the Championship next season😉 😂
About the fireworks and light display. Football is in the entertainment business. The owners are keen to create a great product and fan experience before the game.
You talk some good sense for a Wrexham fan, We have had a fairly ridiculous transfer window but.. I’m sure there will be a good few million splashing around in the January window just to bolster the ranks and get them integrated into the team before we smash our way back through the championship next season.
Really good podcast and knowledge buddy. I’m a Birmingham fan and found you to be very honest. Don’t knock the spending though, pot kettle black lol. I’ve subscribed cos I am impressed! Good luck on your season apart from the return fixture!
I watched the game via a Sky stream 24hr pass as my previous iFollow audio feeds were corrupt. Totally agree with your resume Liam. Also agree with the earlier comment about giving the ball away far too easily in the second half resulting in further pressure. Pity they couldn't carry forward their excellent first half 20 minutes into the second half. As you said look how far we have come. People can he very fickle and soon lose site of this. I've been rewatching the Welcome to Wrexham series as a reminder. Lessons will be learned from this snd I'm sure the team will become more resilient as well as changing the playing patterns and continue to further progress. I'm sure the Dragon will bite back this Saturday too.
The only person wound up by James McLean was himself. Completely lost his head, surprised you have him as captain if it’s that easy for him to get rattled.
Great vlog 👍 A lot of teams are going to walk away from St Andrews this season with nothing, the team has been built with the championship in mind, so it is basically a championship team, Wrexham have done well in a very short space of time and the higher you go the teams you face get harder, goodluck for the rest of the season and we will see you at your gaff 💙🤍💙
Blues fan, good video and fair assessment,it was a good night,as it put league one on the global map,-and lets face it,thats never happened before, your fans played there part which made it a great atmosphere,-sorry about the idiot fan-,good luck for the rest of the season ,KRO
A fair and honest review well worth watching. You over estimated our spending this year, it was not 35 million though it was seemingly the equivalent of 80% of all the rest of League 1 combined. You had 5 players in your team who played Conference football, we had someone playing Champions League football last year, so the difference in squads was not hard to see. I thought the atmosphere was great, the fireworks were not for your benefit by the way it happens every game, and as it doesn't change the game who really cares? Apologies for the lowlife who spat on one of your fans, I have a season ticket in the section he'd have been in and there are a fair few knuckle scrapers in that area. On the positive side it was a great advert for League 1 football.
I'm a blues fan but wat you said 100% true fair play to you mate . Your team Wrexham will be there at the end . I'm sure your do well so all the best to you and Wrexham 👍
Well said man. A lot of good points. If Wrexham had the same amount of seats to sell as Birmingham and other stadiums of other teams. Wrexham could afford high priced players as well. But Wrexham is just starting out and to hold there own against this kind of money of a club. You got to give Wrexham credit. And the question still remains that fans wont answer. If Birmingham is so good, what are they doing in league one? Why is the club not still in champions? Why couldn't they beat teams there own size? Not much to brag about fans.
Dude you're way off beam here. The Birmingham team that went down last season was very average. During the close season we sold a lot of players and more or less changed the team with quality. Plus our new manager has just come in with a new style of play, We are on the rise after years of suffering and we are optimistic. I wish Wrexham well and I want you to go up with us and do it all again next season.
Yes the loss sucks really bad but it's still early in the season. And the next match with them should be different. Because they will learn what they did wrong and fix it. Plus it will be a home match as well. Keep on rolling Wrexham.......
It wont be different it will be worse for you as the players will have played more games together. You were a poor team yesterday be honest you were camped in your own half for 80% of the game. You ain’t gonna go far playing 20% possession football. Tough lesson for you however you will do okay this season. 20-30 mins of a game isn’t good enough to win any game. You must improve your ball retention. Funny how none of these wrexham fans have a welsh accent btw 😂😂😂
@@EmuGamesMastergreat grandad was chairman of the club in the early 50’s, half of my family is english hence the non-welsh accent. Happy to discuss more if that doesn’t answer question
One thing I like to take away is the two winning goals were not just given away cheaply. It took a perfect cross from an odd position and the a perfect strike from outside of the box. To me, it felt like our passing was slow and rushed decisions weren't always handled well. Good experience to take going forward the rest of the season.
Great content… That was Iwatas debut I was shocked Celtic let him go imo. Blues are only just starting to click we haven’t hit 3rd gear yet…. The amount of shit us blues fan have been through of course we buzzing now with new owners with money…. Who wouldn’t be!
I agree. Wrexham was a bit a “deer in headlights” facing their first experience with really Championship level - wait till the January game!!! But what has been interesting is what is happening off the pitch in the PR arena with having American owner Wagner and USING Brady to attract/increase their American fans percentage. How? I saw on ITVx homepage the heading above a pic of Wagner and Brady side by side saying “The Bosses Of Birmingham…” followed by the SKY post match interview on the pitch. Not only does Brady speak first (which truly surprised me) then followed by Wagner who answers a question by using the word “partner” in his sentence referring to Brady. What??? The obvious misleading plan to use Brady, front and centre, to attract new American fans, who love Brady and know nothing about UK football (unaware of this sport’s news either) and will try to sell Brady as an owner like a Reynolds or McElhenney even as he owns just 3.3% with no voting rights. NEVER has a very small minority owner of any sports team, on either side of the pond, been given such attention.
January will be worse for you as your poor squad will be broken by January and ours will be kicking on at full steam. Injuries and suspensions will take its toll.
Guys we played a championship team. Think blackpool. That being said, we can still compete. We just can’t make mistakes. We made tons of unforced errors. Dobson was a wreck, Rathbone was…idk. He played. Cannon plays the position better but does he play it better than revan? Pp is still setting his starting 11. Mullin has to start. Yeah Marriott has 4 goals. Mullin is a better striker at less than 100/%. He was a handful for the bc defense when he came ok. As was revan. I look for 2 changes Saturday. Revan in for Barney and Mullin in for Marriott. I am bit disappointed. BCFC wants back in the prem. Not playing about. Every game is about fine margins, especially at the middle. We have to many cheap balls right back into the attack. We lost shape all over the place. Overloads killed us.
Birmingham and Stockport play the best football and that will be the best game by far. Yep Wrexham got that goal but that was like plucking a whisker from a Tiger your going to get bit.
Once you scored the goal it was pretty clear to see the game plan was to just sit back and try and counter. Cant defend a 1-0 lead from after just 10 minutes
This was a massive wake up call to the style and play for what's to come at the Championship. At some point we'll need to change up the style, right now not so much, but to play against a Championship quality squad was a real eye opener. If we manage to get to the Championship, every match will be near enough like this week in week out, so it's a good slap in the face for what we need to get ready for.
Not all Championship teams play like this. Brum outplayed Fulham in the Cup a few weeks ago with 60% possession and 16 shots. Poor finishing and lack of last 3rd quality was the difference and why they lost.
It’s only half time…they need to visit Cae Ras yet….but…I think they will walk this league all the same…must remember , a lot of our players where in our team in the national league …
Just finished season 3 of Welcome to Wrexham. Now I'm watching season 4 in real time. A historic promotion into Championship league would be sweet revenge for this loss. Talu'n ôl oddi uchod. 🏴
we needed another goal before they scored, sadly some players were missing, Elliott Lee all game was a ghost. Palmer and Marriot disappeared 2nd half, I.M.H.O. Parkinson should have changed half-time at least with Mullin and a couple of fresh defenders. Crawley next, they need to be respected. Liam great show.
It was a reality check for Wrexham who have done very well but I don’t think they will figure in the top six this year but I am sure a season of consolidation will see you challenging next season . These resources we have are overdue for our large fan base we have endured years in the doldrums and we have finally got ownership that have built a side to make the aim of Premier league football a realistic goal in the very near future as-well as the construction of a commercial sports quarter incorporating a 60.000 seater stadium to rival other large cities . Exciting times I wish your club well KRO .
@@markfewtrell5242 yes definitely a wake up call, you are building up for the Premiership. i think its time Parky made a few changes. GOOD luck in future games
We were on defense 90% of the game. Eventually it'll fail. Ollie palmer shouldn't be in the starting squad. He does nothing defensively and when he gets the ball offensively, you are almost guaranteed someone is catching him and stealing the ball
I don’t know. For me, Dobson had his worst game as a Wrexham player. He couldn’t make a pass, was constantly outplayed in transition, yeah he did stop plays but then would give away the ball pretty much immediately. For me, he was one of the worst performers of the night. Max was great, defense was ok but they did have those mistakes. I wanted Revan to come in way earlier. Before the second goal definitely before the third but Parki waits too long to make changes. Ollie is too slow for this type of teams. I thought Barnett was out of the game like 30 mins before he was actually subbed out. He disappeared completely for long stretches of time. Midfield had zero ideas. I don’t mind the loss but the performance was bad. Hopefully they’ll learn from it.
Birmingham were committing professional fouls over and over should have been a red way earlier. That said wrexham were careless with the little bit of possession they had against a team like Birmingham your going to pay for just booting it back to them every time even when your not under pressure
What were your thoughts on yesterday’s defeat?
