lol from reading their biography, it becomes clear that basically all of them were going through a hard time at the time, with personal & group related things, frustrations, were working & practicing really hard for their performances, concerts, etc, working on album, facing a lot of negativity - the dumpling incident is basically a small fight that became a trigger for for all of it & that's probably why it became a big fight - since they were both feeling sensitive & frustrated at the time! also, fun story - once tae had a nightmare & went to sleep in jimin's room but jimin who was too sleepy turned him away. when he realised the next day, he felt so sorry & went & bought a dreamcatcher necklace for tae to protect him from nightmares & that's the reference in the song lyrics one can see how hard they've worked on their relationship to understand each other & be there to support each other. the cutest besties

I think you guys are a bit confused. Jimin and V did not know each other when they were kids. They met in 2012. Jimin was the very last member to join BTS and moved to Seoul in 2012 to train with Bighit and started living at the trainee dorms with the other members and trainees. V is from Deagu (same place as Suga though they did not know each other before) and Jimin is from Busan (same place as JK though they did not know each other before). Since they were born in the same year that meant they had to be in the same grade. All trainees go to the same school in Seoul. I think it's a performing arts high school a lot of idols go to. Since Jimin was new and V had already been there for like a year (he moved to Seoul in 2011 when he joined Bighit/BTS) he kind of took it upon himself to show Jimin around and be his friend in school. That's how they became close. They were both born in '95 and so by design had to spend a lot of time together being peers. Similarly Namjoon and J-Hope were both born in '94 and also have a close 'twin' type relationship because there is no expectations of authority or honorifics that need to be used with same aged ppl in Korea. They are automatically granted the status of 'friends' and are allowed to be more familiar without pressure of showing respect. Though with Joon and Hobi, Hobi is a good few months older than Joon, almost 8 months older, compared to Jimin and Tae who are only like 2 months apart. (Not that J-hope is seen as older than Namjoon or anything. It's just sometimes Joon, despite being the leader can be categorized as a maknae since he's definitively the middle child of BTS) Anyway when they talk about going to school together they mean from 2012 to like 2014 when they both graduated high school. Not when they were little. Just wanted to clear that up because I feel like most of the time you talk about their friendship you say 'when they were kids' or mention them being 'childhood friends'. They were teens when they met and it was in BTS that they met. Though they do consider each other 'childhood friends' despite not meeting in actual childhood so it can be confusing.

I really love their friendship. To me, this was the final straw of things that had built up between them. Most seemingly minor arguments that explode are. I’m sure it was hard, and I have my own theories as to why, but it got them to talk everything out and understand each other better. They’re just so different but they do balance each other well. You can definitely see them occasionally get annoyed, but they also are the first to compliment and stand up for each other. And they look at each other with such fondness. Yay, I love this song so much! It definitely hits different when you know them well and are familiar with the memories they reference in the lyrics. It's even more meaningful within the context of the album, Map of the Soul: 7, which contains so many songs reflecting on their career up to that point. Just to be clear, Jimin and V went to school together (along with JK) after they moved to Seoul and joined Big Hit as trainees. I think sometimes people interpret "they went to school together" as them knowing each other as younger children, but that's not the case--they were actually still in school when BTS debuted, lol. The whole unfolding of dumpling incident lore was so funny. In Feb 2020, the album dropped and we saw the lyrics talking about it; then Carpool Karaoke dropped a week later and we saw the shorter explanation. Of course the fandom wanted more details, so they both got asked about it during livestreams, Jimin in March and V in April. And lastly the subunit interview for Friends came out during Festa in June 2020, which is when we learned about the 4 O'Clock tie in as well. When he released the song back in 2016, V had vaguely mentioned something about waiting for Jimin in a park, but I believe the Festa interview was the first time we got concrete details. This song also establishes one of my favorite BTS relationships: VMin and the Choir! As shown in the ON Commentary Film, the musical director, choir director and singers worked on 3 songs from MOTS7: ON, Friends, and Ego (which featured just one singer, Summer). The same directors and some of the singers later participated in the Proof Live performance that was released in June 2022. Then in 2023, Jimin reunited with the choir director and some of the singers for Set Me Free Pt 2 and V worked with them for his recent release Fri(end)s.

So Jimin bought Taehyung a dreamcatcher because Taehyung had been having numerous bad dreams at night during those days. And also, I just wanna share that since you have finished BU, the live action kdrama started airing last week. It has 12 episodes, and every ep runs for almost 70 minutes hehe. I already watched the first 4 eps and they casted really good actors to portray the members. It made me miss the members more... I think you guys are a bit confused. Jimin and V did not know each other when they were kids. They met in 2012. Jimin was the very last member to join BTS and moved to Seoul in 2012 to train with Bighit and started living at the trainee dorms with the other members and trainees. V is from Deagu (same place as Suga though they did not know each other before) and Jimin is from Busan (same place as JK though they did not know each other before). Since they were born in the same year that meant they had to be in the same grade. All trainees go to the same school in Seoul. I think it's a performing arts high school a lot of idols go to. Since Jimin was new and V had already been there for like a year (he moved to Seoul in 2011 when he joined Bighit/BTS) he kind of took it upon himself to show Jimin around and be his friend in school. That's how they became close. They were both born in '95 and so by design had to spend a lot of time together being peers. Similarly Namjoon and J-Hope were both born in '94 and also have a close 'twin' type relationship because there is no expectations of authority or honorifics that need to be used with same aged ppl in Korea. They are automatically granted the status of 'friends' and are allowed to be more familiar without pressure of showing respect. Though with Joon and Hobi, Hobi is a good few months older than Joon, almost 8 months older, compared to Jimin and Tae who are only like 2 months apart. (Not that J-hope is seen as older than Namjoon or anything. It's just sometimes Joon, despite being the leader can be categorized as a maknae since he's definitively the middle child of BTS) Anyway when they talk about going to school together they mean from 2012 to like 2014 when they both graduated high school. Not when they were little. Just wanted to clear that up because I feel like most of the time you talk about their friendship you say 'when they were kids' or mention them being 'childhood friends'. They were teens when they met and it was in BTS that they met. Though they do consider each other 'childhood friends' despite not meeting in actual childhood so it can be confusing.

I really love their friendship. To me, this was the final straw of things that had built up between them. Most seemingly minor arguments that explode are. I’m sure it was hard, and I have my own theories as to why, but it got them to talk everything out and understand each other better. They’re just so different but they do balance each other well.
You can definitely see them occasionally get annoyed, but they also are the first to compliment and stand up for each other. And they look at each other with such fondness. Their friendship is beautiful.
OH I’m sure someone else mentioned this but just in case... From what I understand, V whispering to Jimin was not originally part of the song. Given their schedules, they recorded separately and would include little notes to each other in their parts. The producer decided to incorporate one, which I just love.

Yay, I love this song so much! It definitely hits different when you know them well and are familiar with the memories they reference in the lyrics. It's even more meaningful within the context of the album, Map of the Soul: 7, which contains so many songs reflecting on their career up to that point.
Just to be clear, Jimin and V went to school together (along with JK) after they moved to Seoul and joined Big Hit as trainees. I think sometimes people interpret "they went to school together" as them knowing each other as younger children, but that's not the case--they were actually still in school when BTS debuted, lol.
The whole unfolding of dumpling incident lore was so funny. In Feb 2020, the album dropped and we saw the lyrics talking about it; then Carpool Karaoke dropped a week later and we saw the shorter explanation. Of course the fandom wanted more details, so they both got asked about it during livestreams, Jimin in March and V in April. And lastly the subunit interview for Friends came out during Festa in June 2020, which is when we learned about the 4 O'Clock tie in as well. When he released the song back in 2016, V had vaguely mentioned something about waiting for Jimin in a park, but I believe the Festa interview was the first time we got concrete details.
This song also establishes one of my favorite BTS relationships: VMin and the Choir! As shown in the ON Commentary Film, the musical director, choir director and singers worked on 3 songs from MOTS7: ON, Friends, and Ego (which featured just one singer, Summer). The same directors and some of the singers later participated in the Proof Live performance that was released in June 2022. Then in 2023, Jimin reunited with the choir director and some of the singers for Set Me Free Pt 2 and V worked with them for his recent release Fri(end)s.
That Proof Choir was the piece that put that Special over the top. The Warm, Live Voices thread through their Harmonies in a way the Backing Tracks just can't ❤️🔥💜🌹

So there’s a part which goes about “dreamcatcher” so the background story behind it is revealed in one of Bon voyage episodes where taehyung revealed that he had a nightmare so jimin bought him a dreamcatcher saying u won’t get nightmares agn and tae was really touched by that and it just turned into a sweet memory for them

14:35 The Dreamcatcher has a story too! It was when the boys went to Dubai for their Summer Package if I am not wrong. There was a segment where the boys gave each other gifts. So Jimin bought Taehyung a dreamcatcher because Taehyung had been having numerous bad dreams at night during those days. Like you know how dreamcatchers are known to 'trap bad dreams' or 'bad spirits' on its web-like part of the structure 🥺

And also, I just wanna share that since you have finished BU, the live action kdrama started airing last week. It has 12 episodes, and every ep runs for almost 70 minutes hehe. The parts 1-4 is already out, while parts 5-8 will air next week May 7 at 3PM KST and the last parts 9-12 will air on May 14 same time. I already watched the first 4 eps and they casted really good actors to portray the members. It made me miss the members more...

Technically, Friends is a story of Jimin and V's friendship as bestfriends.
V and Jimin are both born in 1995 and called as the 95 duo. They are schoolmates while they are trainees and Jimin said that Taehyung was his first ever friend in school, Jimin was a shy guy because he came from Busan, and he was shy to talk because of his accent, while V is the friendly one. V was the first one to approach him when while he was talking to his friends, he noticed that Jimin was alone in the corner of the room, That's why there are lyrics related to their school days. They are also using their uniforms way back in the live performance.
Jimin called V as his alien because V's personality is very unique (even the other members said that) He was a very playful kid and he usually do things that are very strange for the members.
