Your voice was made to be Gaston! It can’t be unheard now. This was such a fun video to watch! Is was amazingly shot. The location, the costuming and everything else looks so authentic to both the original animated movie as well as the live action movie. Well done Peter!
All the opera for you this week (I also just saw Santiana). It's really clear that in this Disney volume you all decided to showcase your individual talents as well as the group. Arabian Nights really showcased Marwan's range, Tomi got to show off his growl in Be Prepared, you just flat out filmed an Opera scene, can't wait to see what Bobby's doing next.
You fit Gaston so well, we need a Beauty And The Beast opera in every language you can sing in currently. You'd blow audiences away with your singing ability.
I only really noticed it in this video, but Bobby's expressions when trying to spell Gaston are absolutely fantastic! After the first S and you see him start looking off into the distance as he thinks and realizes he doesn't know it is so awesome I love Tomi's too, avoiding eye contact until he remembers T, then looks back confidently, and just keeps trying to look confident when it won't come Absolutely incredible, love this whole thing :)
I loved hearing each of you sing your "solo" parts in this one. Since I'm still learning everyone's voice, it really helped me to hear each of you separately.
Coming back to watch this again. It's fun to see Tomi go from Menacing Scar in "Be Prepared" to acting as one of the "silly girls" in the tavern. He does the 😍 look so well
You guys did a wonderful job on this video! Not to mention how much fun you had! I hope in the future you guys can do videos together. Great arrangement too Peter!
Peter, there are no words. I have loved all of the songs in this new album so far, and I greatly look forward to the next one, but I cannot describe how positively giddy I was watching your version of Gaston. It was so fun and hilarious, I laughed so much at the spelling of Gaston's name and the extra commentary between the original lines. You are a perfect Gaston here, and honestly all of you did a wonderful job!
This was just absolutely delightful to watch. I've always loved this song and you guys simply killed it. It was just so much fun. I've watched it several times and shared it with other folks. It looked like you guys were having a lot of fun.
Since you are trained in Opera it is not surprising that you are excellent at comedy. But this is the first time that I realized that Bobbie is awesome at comedy. This is so fun.
I am beyond impressed that you'd be doing that. Beauty and the Beast has been the rock of my childhood and I have been given a special edition CD set by none other than one legend, Angela Lansbury. What happened was at the Schubert Theatre in Times Square at least 20 plus years ago and it was a Broadway performance of the musical that happened. I was about 8 years old or younger at that time and I was with my family who made a trip up to see the performance. When the show started, I was frightened by the appearance of the performers in their costumes. At first, I didn't know what they were, I thought they were real, and I just screamed so LOUD that I ran away. My mother comforted me in the bathroom where I was hiding. I was crying and screaming so much that the whole cast came down to see me! As soon it was over, I went to a strange looking, long black limousine, but realized that it was for Angela Lansbury by accident. The chauffeur told me to get out, but she calmly told him that it was all right. The family, including my mother, was worried sick that it happened, but they had to get in the limo. By the look at their faces, every single of the family was not happy with what happened because it was the first time I experienced a frightfulness of stage performance. But long story short, the cast as well as Dame Lansbury sent a late Christmas present to me and it was an anniversary special edition of Beauty and the Beast. I really think that the story, musical, and film had a some sort of a connection to me for some strange reason.
Nicely done, Peter. This was so much fun. And enjoyed the "rough cut" addition. Love that each video has its own vibe - that is VERY Bass Gang to me, showing how many colors there are in all of your voices.
I love it. Disney should have made the live action version with you 😁😁 One thing, I gotta know. In the final scene, where you guys are walking towards the camera, who suggested that Bobby and Tomi should crouch down? It works really well, but you can see how Tomi kinda struggles staying that low. 😂😂 Great video ❤
This looked like so much fun to shoot. Best of all, you got to eat all the food! Managing to include Andúril was so perfect! I have that sword hanging up in my living room. I'm so happy to have caught the premiere, nice chatting with everyone.
@@timberwolf5422well then again the user name is rhov-anion. Geeky as shit - love it 😍. If that person can’t spell Andúril right then we have a problem 😂😂😂.
That was so much fun. I love these behind the scenes videos that give the rest of us some insight into the work involved in giving us such great music to see and hear.
Thanks! Bravo, Peter! Bravo! I absolutely LOVED this version of Gaston! Like with Arabian Nights and Be Prepared, I have NEVER seen a cover of Gaston done like this before! It was so true to the original! The setting, the costumes and the props were all on point! This video is so much fun to watch, and I can tell that you all had an absolute blast making it! If Disney ever decides to do another live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, I hope they cast you as Gaston because you are the perfect Gaston! Thank you so much for bringing us joy and laughter with this fun cover! We look forward to seeing you and the rest of The Gang in the grand finale! Until Then ... May The Bass Be With You All!
I'm so glad I finally had time to sit down and watch this! Richard White's Gaston is one of my favorite Disney performances ever; I cannot imagine this song without a big, resonant voice to carry it off in all its hammy, dramatic glory, so it's truly satisfying to hear it covered by a proper opera singer, and your voice is perfect for it! This is SUCH a fun and funny video, too--you guys are clearly enjoying the hell out of making a fabulous video for this ridiculous, scenery-chewing (but wonderfully arranged!) song! Always love hearing about arrangement, vocal, and filming/editing choices, and of course the fun details like The King's Feast, Bobby's girlfriend holding down the treble in the BG shouts, and how totally game the locals were for participating in the shoot, just to name the first few that come to mind. And how cool to get to see the progress from rough cut to finished product! 😁
Am at 37:17 when you’re carrying the sword: hello Andúril 😂. Nice Easter Egg. Huge LoTR fan here too. Never paid attention before to the fact that your tattoo referred to Aragorn’s speech at the Black Gate; so cool!
I said this in the comments to the video, but this had me smiling all the way through! Thanks for making it so fun, and great to hear the behind-the-scenes details.
Such a wonderful voice for Gaston! This song alone made me remember the Beauty and the Beast versions how they were arranged but this song literally a banger. Listening to this song on repeat along with the other songs from Vol. 3. Bravo, Bravo Peter in portraying Gaston with the sword of Aragorn from LOTR 👏
So many parts of this video had me laughing out loud, especially Bobby’s acting in the beginning. Your arrangement is so interesting! All four videos were a treat to watch, but this one might be my favorite
This was so great. Thank you for taking the time to do such an in-depth breakdown for us. It was also fun to see the progression from the first cut. If you needed antlers, you could have just called me. I live in Texas....probably could have gone down to the Goodwill and found some, or borrowed them from someone. 🤣 Oh well, next time.
I have to ask…. The whole misspelling Gaston’s name gave me huge flashbacks to Newfangled Four and their barbershop parody “Jackson” was there perhaps a bit of inspiration from there? Edit: well that’s what I get for posting before watching to the end. *facepalm*
I immediately recognized Anduril when you lifted it. (AND YES IT IS ANDURIL NOT NARSIL.) It is the blade made from the broken shards of Narsil. The sword of the new king.
I love it! Phenomenal job! And I love how much you enjoy Disney. Just an fyi- the animated Beauty and the Beast came out in 1991- I had just given birth to my first son, and I left him with family for the very first time so I could see it in the theater. I hated leaving him, but the movie was fantastic and a much needed break from the house.
Not gonna lie, I thought the sword was an Easter egg pointing to the next track. And that track would be from "The quest for Camelot" - "I stand alone"
Given Marwan is supposed to be in the lamp, did you consider putting the lamp on or in front of the picture frame and have it appear that the picture is alive with Marwan's image because of the lamp?
I'm glad you gave Gaston more lines. The character has a major ego problem, so it's fitting that he would join in with boasting and complimenting himself. 👍
If in the future, you want antlers or horns for a video search UA-cam for some crafters that make videos on how to make them. With enough lead time you can craft a $500 antler set for around $50.
40:23: Your tattoo of Aragorn's sword with the words Not Today: This may seem like an odd recommendation; nonetheless, I do recommend that you watch BTS's old MV of their song "Not Today." It's meant for MZ -- I am not MZ -- I think it's for everyone. "A day may come when we lose/ But it is not today/ Today we fight!" And the chorus is the same as one of MLK Jr's famous lines (don't know if it's based on MLK or if they both used some other source): "If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl. [Just keep moving forward -- MLK's ending]" I'm pretty sure you won't read this or, if you do, you'll shrug it off. And still I feel it's worth posting -- go figure.
The scenary was super pleasent to look at, and listen, except one part at the very end, when the choir is little bit oftime. 38:46 luckely you overshout everyone, so it's just a detail
Just curious: when you sang "barge", I expected you to go up an octave, as per Luke Evans in the live action version. Why did you choose to hold the note? (Not complaining, just something I thought you might do.)
I knew this was going to be an awesome clip. And I knew you had fun shooting. I mean, this is probably one of the most fun videos I've seen in a while. Really great job.

11:02 that's a great thumbnail for sure. I'm enjoying the ride that I'm going on with you guys. I'll have to check out more the Bass Gang's stuff.
Several of my reactors have said that The Bass Gang needs to team up with Tim, Avi and Geoff and do an amazing video! I concur.

Basso Buff! Well done sir.

What a cool video. And to the swords - Tomi is holding a Witcher silver/steel sword. Peter is holding Anduril, you can know by the pommel.
I'm so glad you did give yourself extra lines and I loved hearing about your arrangement deliberations and choices.
The absolute best bit for me is seeing your face be so proud of your work....Blooming amazing all of you.....well done...Again 🤭
That was just as funny as it was awesome! Glad you could showcase your operatic training and sense of humour at the same time!
The fun was evident and it is fun to watch too. Good job even if there was no budget left for antlers.
