I just watched it again last night and couldn't agree more. And it really feels like Valentine's Day, with the bare trees and gloomy weather. The way the camera holds on the 'little town with a big heart' sign, the decorations and the grime of the mines. It's at the top of the heap in the atmosphere dept. The Mabel laundromat kill packs a punch, and later when the police chief opens the chocolates from her, it adds that little bit extra. They didn't just go through the motions on this movie. When Axel runs off and says "my bloody valentine" in that creepy voice and they cut to the song, man that's an ending. Also, nice ending to this video with the a cappella!
The amount of censorship this film suffered was devastating. Very seldom would an unedited version show up until 2019 when an ultra rare 35 millimetre film print popped up and they were able to scan it and get a clean and restored print. Most importantly, with the exception of a scene where two characters are impaled, director George Mihalka says all of the deleted scenes are back in the film. So we now have the entire film restored bar one scene. Also, I love the "An American Werewolf In London" poster on your wall.

Classic I enjoyed since I saw it on USA network 34 years ago at eight and looks amazing on UHD 4K
The remake of this is slightly better IMO.
